Welcome

D

uring a particularly stressful who-knowswhich day of quarantine week full of work, I felt as if I was going crazy, gradually, but surely. With all those endless zoom calls, lack of fresh air and a to-do list, that seemed never-ending, I was close to runaway. But there was a small problem - I’d declared to #stayhome. So as a sign of support, my Mum sent me a photo with a handwritten to-do list that I had made when I was six. All the items mentioned there were so simple: “draw a picture”, “have a walk”, “watch The Little Mermaid” and “clean my table” - but in the end, there was a note: “I did it all”. This naive and, at the same time, very sincere memories inspired me. Besides the fact, that I had quite a careless routine as a kid, I also understood some universal truths. It cleared me up, that life is only as complicated as we want it to be, as overwhelming as we allow it to be. And our success is not measured with what we want to achieve, but what are we doing and achieving day by day on the way to our goals.

6

And finally, I found the inspiration to keep going and enjoying life even under certain restrictions and unknowns, cause I was convinced we would come out of the lockdown as different and hopefully better versions of ourself. All those new perspectives and small inspiring tips, I carried into QDiary.

«I was convinced we would come out of the lockdown as better versions of ourselves.»

I am really glad you’ve found this magazine. If you’re here to come up with some new ideas and useful tips, you’re definately in a right place. It is a great pleasure to share my inspirations with you through pages of my Quarantine Diary, which becomes also yours from now on. I hope this issue will inspire you to take a peek back on this quarantine period, to sum up all the changes that have happened to you, and to keep marching forward, more confidently towards new #afterquarantine reality.

Introduction: What is QDiary?

I

f you’re here now, it means you’re tired of those two or more months of selfisolation, lockdown, COVID-19, and quarantine - all the stuff you probably never experienced or heard about before the winter 2020 happened. While feeling overwhelmed by all the terrifying news, zoom calls, loads of coffee, you’re searching for inspiration, d i f f e r e nt perspectives, a new breath of air. I believe that on the pages of QDiary you will find at least one thing, that will bring a divine creative impulse into your routine and let you get back on track. And you will be ready for your #afterquarantine life. The Quarantine Diary was created for those who are looking for answers to the question of how to get inspiration back while staying surrounded by the same four walls, how to act in post quarantine

reality, or how to wear the most fashionable accessory of the season - a face mask. All the following (and previous) more substantive pages of this magazine will be accompanied withthe photos that were taken by me during those long days of social isolation. They became my visual diary with a lot of stories hidden behind. There is a moodboard collected from the captures of facemasks from all around the Internet. Hopefully, you will take some screenshoots of the pages of this magazine, then don’t hesitate to share them with friends or those, who can take advantage of it as well. You know, sharing is caring. If you have any thoughts or feedback, jokes, or serious propositions after reading QDiary, feel free to share them with me. Without further ado, scroll/ swipe to get inspired and to find something, you’re searching for.

At the time when our world was turned around, and then it united us with new mindsets, coronamems, toilet paper stocks, and balcony applause for those, who have become our new heroes. We tried to prevent the disease while it was restless, we try to smile, but it’s invisible through the masks...But as long as we support each other, let’s be sure – andrà tutto bene, everything will be good.

5 Apps helping your health IOS edition

Downdog - the only app that helped me become consistent in taking yoga classes every morning. You still don’t believe it’s possible? Thanks to the options of choosing the type, level of advancement, and even savasana time (!), every yoga session feels like it was tailored for you. Namaste.

Goodreads is a social cataloging website that allows you to search freely its database of books, reviews, quotes. Thanks to Goodreads I finally managed my to-read wish-list. However, with so many books to read quarantine probably should never end for me.

Zero is a beautifully designed tracker used for intermittent fasting. If you have no idea what is that, so there is no better way to figure it out, then just by downloading this app and diving in it.

Research has shown that social connections not only impact your mental health but your physical health as well and increases likelihood of survival. In times of global pandemic, it is a hit the bull’s-eye. And as long Zoom is associated only with long conferences, Houseparty can be your perfect way to strenthen your relations with freinds in a more casual way.

Do not disturb - yes, you’re right, it’s not an app, but it’s an irreplaceable function of your phone on your way to being happy and healthy. Sometimes, not always, but it helps regain freedom of thought and reminds you that there is a world outside your smartphone.

Not a Horoscope On the last pages of magazines usually you can find some predictions of the future based on constellations of stars...I mean horoscope of course. However, in the QDiary I decided instead to attach a different story, also inspired by stars and the universe, but somehow more heartwarming and inspiring. It’s a fragment of a talk An Ode to Living on Earth, given by a visual artist Oliver Jeffers to TED Talks Daily, where he explained in a poetic way, «beautiful, fragile drama of human civilization» and our connections with the universe. You can also listen to his talk at

A

pandemic, a long interval where the world has stopped and started to function at a slow pace, we finally paused. But this pause paradoxically becomes an opportunity to finally be able to deal with ourselves.

We found time to read the books, that we are never managed to finish or started something new (like this magazine) or we cooked for our beloved once. We finally appreciate our windows and balconies, which became the safest place to observe the small corners of the world. Terraces from which to peer into the universe, to observe the rising sun, to capture the sunset, and to rediscover the Moon, accompanied by billions of stars. We found ourselves reflecting on our time, on the past and on the future, observing a precipitous past that makes room for a rich and decidedly slower present. And even while we are still writing a hashtag #stayhome under our posts in social media, preparing dalgona coffee, getting ready for another zoom workout session and somewhere in the background we can hear playing Tik Tok “I’m bored in my house, and I’m in the house bored”, we’re not bored anymore. We made friends with boredom and we found that time is not just сontrolled by watch hands, it’s only in our hands. Now, after having read the QDiary, I hope you have a bunch of useful hacks to survive the rest of quarantine time and you also have your own #afterquarantine vision of how you want your life to look like. You are not afraid of the future. You are inspired. You can start living your best NOW, cause who knows what 2020 is still preparing for us. xoxo, Valia
