Brać

Sierakowskiego 4A

As resistant as traditionalists may be to the very notion of Polish wine, Brać rip-up the rule book to present on-edge sips from niche domestic producers you’ve probably never heard of. Bathed in a rich, red neon glow at night, forego the stylish interior to sip outside on a pristine side street of a newly mapped residential estate in the heart of old Praga.

Niewinność

Zgoda 5

Completely lacking in that frosty formality that defines many wine spots, the welcome here has more in line with entering your favorite local bar. Casual and comfy but never short of chic, it looks more like a trendy loft apartment with its communal table, poster art and zaps of neon. Affordable price points and a busy outdoor street scene mark it a summer must.

Rascal

Moliera 6

Reputedly the largest bar in Europe specialising in natural wines, this former canteen for ballet dancers became one of the hottest addresses in town when it launched last year – a point not lost on the Vogue staffers encamped here. Crowned with a veneered, marble-topped bar, the interior is a chic work that’s outdone only by the walled Insta-friendly garden in the back.

Superfly

Zajęcza 1A

Bathed in the soft light of the 70s style vintage lamps scattered about, the natural wines are of the cutting edge and are ably supported by the cooking of co-owner Oleg. The floor-to-ceiling windows afford plenty of summertime people watching.

Mielżyński Wine Bar

Burakowska 5/7

Tangled in vines and creeping ivy, this brick warehouse comes into its element each summer when drinkers pile outside to drink amid rustling trees and pristine lawns. Set within a former factory compound, this institution is a flagbearer when it comes to consistency and quality.

Lalou Wine Concept

Krochmalna 56

This beautiful store / tasting room is defined by its sophisticated simplicity and sense of light and space. The offer is A-class: “Wines from Champagne, Jura, the Loire Valley, Burgundy, Etna, Tenerife, Moselle are our essence,” they say. “And also natural wines as well – organic, biodynamic, low-intervention, modernist, terrorist, authenticist and naturalist.”

Pogodne

Kaliska 9/22

Second-hand does not have to mean second best, and that’s abundantly clear in Pogodne, a top floor apartment turned over stock classically flamboyant garments: from almost fetishistic macs to elegant cocktail dresses via Carnaby Street-style fashions. Coming together in a stupendous riot of colour, other finds include Moomin lamps, Charles & Di wedding mugs =, porcelain pets and 1960s fashion mags.

Café Vintage Kolektyw

Al. Waszyngtona 30/36

Doubling as a super-cool coffee shop (in summer order the iced cappuccino-orange juice combo), snap up everything from Marilyn clocks to rotary dial phones to that Virgin Mary table lamp that you’ve always secretly coveted. Though big buys are possible – tables and Jetson period chairs – it’s the little finds that are the best. The BDSM-themed porcelain is eye-opening!

Ładne Vintage

Międzyborska 57/65

Sourcing her items from bazars and other ‘mysterious places’, Ładne retails domestic and international items for house and home. Find a comprehensive choice of glass, ceramics and porcelain to lend your life some vintage flourish. “First impressions are important to me,” says the owner, Agnieszka: “I only stock things that are interesting, have a purpose and that I actually like myself.

Lata 60-te

11 Listopada 54

Despite the name, this store sees beyond just the 60s: “if we like something,” they say, “we don’t look at the birth certificate”. Specialising in refreshed furniture from the PRL era, it’s become a favourite of design mavens looking to trick out home with a pre-loved statement piece. Outside the expected wingback chairs and Nixon sofas, find glassware, ceramics and lighting solutions.
