At Valley Christian, we believe that God has a story written just for you and He desires that you fully live out each and every day to the fullest according to His plan for your life. We are committed to many things, but among them is the commitment to provide opportunities for you to grow in relationship with Christ — ways for you to discover how God designed you to serve Him, and an environment where you feel safe to minister through your design. In this Ministry Guide, you’ll find a wide variety of small groups, courses, resources, and contacts to help you in all areas of life, as well as opportunities to implement your God-given gifts. The purpose of the Active Adults Ministry is to bring honor and glory to our Lord Jesus Christ as we advance in both age and spiritual maturity. We provide Christian teaching, fellowship, prayer and social activities for senior members and guests. We offer a weekly Sunday School class that focuses on how the Bible relates to the mature believer (55+). It is designed to meet the various needs of our seniors. The Blue Parakeet

Parakeets make delightful pets. We cage them or clip their wings to keep them where we want them. Scot McKnight contends that many, conservatives and liberals alike, attempt the same thing with the Bible. We all try to tame it. McKnight’s The Blue Parakeet has emerged at the perfect time to cool the flames of a world on fire with contention and controversy. It calls Christians to a way to read the Bible that leads beyond old debates and denominational battles. It calls Christians to stop taming the Bible and to let it speak anew for a new generation. The Human Spirit

This course is the first of a three-part series entitled The Spirit of God, Man, and the Devil. During the first quarter, we will analyze the make up of man — spirit, soul and body, focusing upon the differences between these three components. We will also cover in depth the development of the human conscience and how God uses it as the primary tool when He is convicting us of sin. In the first quarter, our emphasis will be to understand the uniqueness of our human spirit (when compared to the soul), along with the ongoing struggle between our new Christian nature and our old natures. The course will conclude with a biblical look at the internal accomplishments achieved at water baptism, along with a brief study of angels. Doctors Giving Back (DGB)

God has orchestrated remarkable circumstances for those in our own congregation to help build two orphanages and a hospital in Ethiopia. Doctors John and Jana Turns founded DGB to minister to the poorest of the poor in Ethiopia, bringing clinics, water filtration, food, and hope to thousands of destitute natives. In the many trips they have taken to Ethiopia to minister to others, they have found their own lives have been profoundly changed. They would love for you to join them on a trip or in equipping them to make their trips, even if you do not have a medical background.
