Weather Changes Can Affect Garage Doors Call Superior Overhead Door for broken springs, insulation solutions, and a wide selection of new garage doors. By Deanna Rebro
You’re in a hurry to leave for work. Your garage door raises a few feet and then stops. It will move no further. This scenario with a broken spring plays out most often during temperature changes. Steve Lewis, owner of Superior Overhead Door in Broken Arrow, explains how Oklahoma’s intense heat and bright sun dries out the springs and makes them brittle. When there is a shift in temperature, weak springs are likely to pop. Who knows when this
will happen to your door? That’s why it is important to have a technician from Superior Overhead Door inspect your door’s operation, as well as the opener, and have them in good working order before the brisk winds, cold rains and snow begin. Of course, if you have a problem, Superior is the company to call for quick, reliable service. All their trucks are fully stocked with parts. Their technicians are all Superior employees who have undergone a rigorous background
screening before their acceptance into the extended family. In many instances, they can provide same day service. Superior also has a solution to help keep cold air from entering your garage with either factory insulated doors or an insulation kit for your existing door. Pick it up and do it yourself or have Superior professional quickly install it for you. For factory insulated replacement doors or for new construction, Superior carries the Haas line
Steve Lewis is proud to be a Liftmaster certified technician for the new Liftmaster battery backup opener with smart phone operation.

Investing in Others BY MELANIE HASTY-GRANT
There is so much negative news out there. If you watch TV or read the newspaper, you will notice that it often seems driven by finding the worst of the worst in people, politics, business. It’s all about what is going wrong, who did something bad, and why you should be worried. In fact, there is a saying in the news world, “If it bleeds, it leads.” The reason that media is geared that way is because that is what we have shown them we are interested in. So why are we all so addicted to focusing on the negative? It has been proven that whatever you focus on, you get more of. So if we want to see more positive and meaningful moments in our own life, we have to focus on that in others. That is what Character Coin™ is all about. Here’s how it works. Watch for someone doing something good. Recognize them with a Character Coin™ and tell them what you caught them doing that was of good character. Let them know that they are now responsible for finding someone else doing

good and pay it forward. Go to Character Coin™ on Facebook or CharacterCoin.com and log in your story of giving or receiving the coin. The object of this life game is to keep the coin going and to focus on the good in others. We all need to be more intentional and conscious about what and who we allow in our lives. Focusing on negative thoughts and being around unsound, hurtful people can be detrimental to you and your family. Make a commitment to choose your thoughts and your friends wisely. Celebrate the good in others. Invest your time and energy and be a blessing to others. Remember,
the simple act of acknowledging something good in someone else can change their entire day, not to mention yours. Here at Waterstone Private Wealth Management, we focus on the very best in you and your family. We want to help you invest your time, your energy, and your money in ways that bless you and prepare you for the future you have dreamt of. Help us promote good character by sharing Character Coins™ with your church, your school, your business, and your organizations. You can pick up your free Character Coins™ at Waterstone Private Wealth Management or you can sponsor your own set of coins by going to www.charactercoin.com. SSidelined by Injury? Dr. Brad Lawson volunteers his services for several local sports teams.
By Julie Lawson
Friday night football is here. The stadium lights are coming on, and our kids are running onto the football field once again. The temperature is starting to change, and the atmosphere and support that fills a community around their teams on Friday nights has finally returned. For some, the return of football is an exciting and exhilarating time. However, with the collision nature of the sport, the return of football can also mean challenging injuries, concussions, and significant amounts of rehabilitation and continued care for some. When the excitement of the game turns into the disappointment of an injury, many have realized that they don’t have to drive to Tulsa to find the sports medicine care they need. Dr. Brad Lawson, a physician and orthopedic surgeon in Owasso, has provided excellence in service and sports medicine care in the Owasso, Claremore and Collinsville area for the last several years. Dr. Lawson also volunteers
his time as a team orthopedist and sports medicine physician for several of the teams in the area. Dr. Lawson began his career in the United States Air
Force, where he served both as a general medical officer and as an orthopedic surgeon for a total of 16 years. After completing his service, he finished additional subspecialty
sports medicine and reconstructive medicine, excellence in orthopedic and sports medicine care is right here in our communities. As the school year and all of its athletic competition rolls on, or if you’re the weekend warrior with aches and pains that just won’t go away, you can know that great orthopedic and sports medicine care does not require you to drive to Tulsa anymore. Dr. Lawson and his staff office in Owasso at 13616 E. 103rd St. N., next door to Urgent Care of Green Country. They also have an office in Broken Arrow where they see patients on Thursday mornings at 2950 S. Elm Pl., Ste. 456. Whether it is competitive athletics or recreational enjoyment that may cause an injury or a pain, Dr. Lawson and his staff will keep you at your best. For more information or to schedule an appointment, feel free to stop by or call (918) 272-4488.

PPreserving Cowboy Cooking Culture The second annual Chuck Wagon Cook-Off is set for Saturday, November 1.
By Carol Beck-Round
If they were being pulled by horses or oxen, it might look like an Old West cattle drive. However, the chuck wagons that will be rolling into the Claremore Expo Center will be hauled in on flatbed trailers to participate in the second annual Chuck Wagon Cook-Off on Saturday, November 1 as part of the Will Rogers Days celebration. Beef tips, chicken fried steak
and pot roast were three of the main entrees in last year’s competition, with four chuck wagon crews vying for first place and bragging rights. Tanya Andrews, Visit Claremore executive director, is expecting more entries this year, at least eight. “However, we can accommodate up to 15 teams set up on the West Bend on the Green,” she said. “We work with the American Chuck Wagon Association to recruit wagons from all over the country.” The ACWA encourages participants to preserve this aspect of American heritage through competitive events that involve setting up camp, cooking with authentic old western tools and exhibiting restored or replicated chuck wagons. The fun will begin on Friday when the chuck Alaska and Madi, both from northeastern wagons establish Oklahoma, will be performing at the second their camps, folannual Chuck Wagon Cook-Off. The singers were on season six of “The Voice” with lowed by “authenTeam Blake. ticity” judging.
“While the food judges are local, the ‘authenticity’ judges are experienced and recommended by the ACWA,” she adds. “They judge everything including the authenticity of the wagon spokes down to the drawers in the kitchen area.” Points are awarded to the most authentic wagon and then combined with points earned on Saturday during the food judging to determine the overall winner, who receives $1,000. Food judges are recruited from local restaurant owners and chefs. On Saturday, the chuck wagon chefs get down to business with each team digging a cooking pit. By 11:45 a.m., teams will submit their meals to the panel of judges. At noon, event attendees can begin chowing down. In order to guarantee a plate of the cowboy cooking, Andrews suggest tickets be purchased in advance for $10. Tickets go on sale October 6. The day of the event, tickets are $12. Each meal includes meat, potatoes, beans, bread, dessert and a drink. However, tickets are limited. “We can only sell 40 meals per wagon,” says Andrews. Chuck wagon teams will compete in seven categories on Saturday: Most Authentic, Best Overall and Best Food subcategories for meat, potatoes, beans,

Admission is $6 for adults and free for children 12 and under. The Autobahn Pass and other ticket packages are available online, allowing patrons to purchase admission and festival money ahead of time and bypass lines. On Family Friday, admission to the festival is free from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The carnival offers unlimited rides from noon to 6 p.m. with the purchase of a $15 All-Rides Wristband. Paid parking is available near the festival grounds at $5 and $10, or patrons can ride the free shuttles, which run three routes through downtown, midtown and south Tulsa, near alternative parking areas. “The festival is a timehonored tradition for Tulsans and visitors alike,” says Festival Director Tonja Carrigg. tainment, activities, and plenty of food and specialty beverages for everyone. It’s no surprise upwards of 60,000 people flock to Tulsa’s favorite Chicken Dance venue.” Live music is always a favorite and this year, several bands are traveling to Linde Oktoberfest Tulsa from Germany. Algäuer Alpincats, Die Wilderer and the Dorfrockers, who hail from the Bavaria region, will perform in Der Lufthansa BierGarten during the festival, including Wednesday’s popular Corporate Night, also known as Gemütlichkeit. Keeping with German tradition, five beer tents will feature a variety of great beer for all tastes. More than 50 domestic and import beers will be available, including premium brands such as Warsteiner, Spaten, Paulaner, Konig and Hofbrau. Beer tents include Der Lufthansa BierGarten, Das Spaten Haus, Das Warsteiner Ess Zelt and Die Bier Stube. Das Fassler Hall Stammtisch Zelt will feature brews from Tulsa’s Marshall Brewing Company, including seasonal favorites Oktoberfest Lager and Klaus Hefeweizen. Reveal Your Beauty for the Holidays Reveal Salon & Aesthetics will help you get your hair, skin and nails look radiant for the upcoming social season.
By Deanna Rebro
While changing wardrobes for a cooler season, most people give little thought to the damage summer has done to their hair, skin and nails. Reveal Salon & Aesthetics at 8929 S. Memorial #170 has just the right treatments to get hair, skin and nails looking great for the holidays. Nicole McGinnis, salon owner and licensed aesthetician for 15 years, does all types of corrective skin treatments that are customized for each client’s needs. These include corrective facials, microdermabrasion facials, progressive peels, mid-depth and deep peels, back facials and microphototherapy. Summer brings out age spots and quite often, acne. It is not unusual for clients to have acne not just on their
faces, but on their backs and arms as well. Nicole has treatment options for acne in teens up to senior citizens. Some produce noticeable results in as little as a couple of weeks. “It’s easier than you think to have clear skin,” she says. The key is to start a treatment plan now and then continue with good home care. She also offers numerous options for aging skin. Whether dry, oily, thick or thin, Nicole can help your skin look softer and healthier before the holidays. For overcoming hair damage, Reveal Salon has six stylists who offer services in cutting and styling, color highlights, balayage, Brazilian blowouts, keratin treatments, perms, extensions and formal up-dos. Sun and chlorine cre-

ate an all-too-common problem of split ends. A special split end treatment seals the ends, and the treatment lasts four weeks. Brazilian blowouts are another popular service for restoring hair. This treatment smoothes hair, gets rid of frizz and makes hair easier to style for as long as 12 weeks. A master barber, DeAllen Brown, does men’s cuts, creative designs, color and gray coverage, as well as good old-fashioned razor shaves. When we think of nails, we automatically think of
fingernails. But our toenails really need special attention now to save a lot of hurt later. “Even if you’re not going to use polish, it’s a good idea to get a good pedicure to prevent ingrown toenails,” cautions Debbie Edmonds, a nail technician with over 20 years of experience. “Often, women and men will cut their toenails too short and then suffer when nails grow inward.” Whatever your hair, skin or nail needs, an experienced professional at Reveal Salon can help them look better. Each employee stays on top of
the latest in industry education and then pampers their clients – men, women and children.

GGo Nuts on Route 66
Family-friendly activities are set for the 6th annual Route 66 Pecan & Fun Fest on October 25. By Carol Beck-Round
Load up your automobile and head to The Nut House on historic Route 66 for a day of family-friendly activities and products on October 25 at the 6th annual Route 66 Pecan & Fun Fest. Beginning at 9 a.m. and running until 6 p.m., the event offers a vast array of indoor and outdoor booths selling crafts, toys, books, handmade blankets, breads and other goodies as well as Amishmade jerky. “We usually have around 30 booths,” says Hazel Ward, owner. In addition to the booths, attendees can browse through the unique items – most not found in your local grocery or big-box store – inside The Nut House, where new fall products will be available, as well as new crop of pecans. “We’ll also
have our famous Nut House cookies for sale,” she adds. “They contain real butter, corn flakes, oatmeal, coconut, chocolate chips and pecans – just about everything but the kitchen sink.” For kids, there will be a farm animal petting zoo, camel rides and a kiddie train. New additions this year includes pony rides. “It’s a wonderful time for families to get out and enjoy a beautiful fall day full of fun activities,” Hazel adds. Other planned activities include face painting as well as pumpkin painting. “Since it’s the week before Halloween, we’re also sponsoring a costume contest for children, ages one through 13,” says Darryl Ward, owner. Over Eight Decades of Service Guaranty Abastract Company has maintained a high reputation since it opened 86 years ago. By Christopher Davis
Since 1928, Guaranty Abstract Company has led the industry in abstracting services. A familyowned, Tulsa-based business, three generations of the Kirkpatrick family have guided the company into the modern era, earning and maintaining the highest reputation in the process. President and CEO Larry Johnson explains the benefits of the company’s longevity in Tulsa. “We’ve seen just about everything,” he says. The company has been in business, in the same downtown location, for decades, and is an established force in the industry. “We’re here today and we will be here tomorrow,” says Johnson, who has been with the company for five of those decades. For customers, it is nice to know that the company will still be around years from now. It is always desirable to go back to someone you know and trust. Originally specializing in abstract services when John Kirkpatrick founded the company in the early 20th century, Guaranty Abstract Company expanded its operations in the ‘60s to include commercial closings and title insurance. They began doing residential closings in the ‘80s. At that point, the company be-
came a sort of one-stop shop for commercial and private property transactions, providing services to other title companies and directly to clients of its own. Abstracting, though, remains at the foundation of the business, since everything relates back to property records. “It’s like a jigsaw puzzle,” says Larry Johnson as he describes the work involved in compiling an abstract for a property. A process that relies heavily on research, records and flawless documentation, Guaranty Abstract Company is a leader in the industry for good reason. Their archives date back to before statehood, as Johnson points out. “Sometimes, the City comes to us,” says Sherry McGann, CFO. “We’re the only company in Tulsa with a complete set of records,” adds Senior Vice President Heath Spiegel. Spiegel began with Guaranty Abstract Company 11 years ago as an I.T. administrator and steadily worked his way through the ranks over the past decade. Along the way, his titles have included business development manager, residential closing offices manager and daily operations administrator. With such a well-rounded history with the company, his promotion from

vice president of business development to senior vice president comes as no surprise and is welcomed throughout the company. The abstracting process is crucial for sound property transactions. Without a complete and accurate history on record, the property owner is vulnerable to unexpected issues that may arise, such as taxes owed, errors in previous title transaction or mistaken property boundaries. Because of such potential situations, the company also offers title insurance services, which protect the insured from potential losses related to such issues. Guaranty Abstract Company offers title insurance policies for lender, owner or leaseholder. During the insurance process, the company handles initial abstracting and updates it for title extraction before sending it to an attorney to examine and produce a title commitment. Then it moves to final abstracting to show recorded documents
from closing. Guaranty Abstract Company also provides closing services for commercial and private property transactions. “You can say, ‘This is where I want to close,’” says Sherry McGann, CFO. Spiegel agrees, adding they want customers to know, “You are in control.” He notes that many home buyers – especially when it’s their first experience purchasing a house – do not realize they have a choice in which title company to use. Often, customers acquiesce to whichever company is suggested by the real estate agent. But, is that really a wise approach to take with such a major transaction? Why take a chance on a company with less experience and less direct access to land archives? Before you get burned, take a moment to learn. Guaranty Abstract Company makes a point of educating customers, and even provides training classes for lenders and real estate agents.

Their website is a treasure trove of information, including easyto-read infographics outlining complicated processes. Guaranty Abstract has a stellar reputation, with clients like BOK Center, Woodland Hills Mall, Tulsa Hills Shopping Center, Warren Place and Spartan included in its portfolio. The company recently provided abstracting services for The Gathering Place – the massive park that will redefine Riverside Drive. Whether the business of the day is purchasing a home for the first time or navigating the winding path of large-scale commercial property transactions, Guaranty Abstract Company is known as the best in Tulsa. With several branches throughout the city, their experienced team of professionals is prepared to assist you. Remember, no one has the experience and resources that Guaranty Abstract Company does, so make the wise decision and choose a local, family-owned business whose history in Tulsa is as solid as the archives they base their livelihood on.

Agricultural Equipment and Repair P&K Equipment offers complete equipment solution packages for customers – from sales, parts, service, and beyond. By Christopher Davis
Since P&K Equipment established its Owasso location in 2009, the agricultural equipment provider has earned a reputation for top notch customer service. Through a tremendous growth period over the last several years, P&K has provided all types of equipment, parts, and service, and has established itself as a complete solutions dealer.
the way up to full-size tractors and farm implements, and golf and turf equipment. Increasingly, customers want a one-stop shop for their agricultural and landscape equipment needs and P&K is ready to provide that. Recognizing this natural cycle of customer needs is precisely the reason P&K has worked so hard to create an excellent customer service experience, so that the company can create successful, lasting customer relationships. As harvest season wraps up and winter nears, attention turns toward updating, fixing and maintaining equipment in preparation for next year. P&K offers 100+ point inspections and maintenance packages on a variety of equipment. With a reputation for Randal Bobbitt, store manager at P&K Equipment in Owasso. An authorized dealer of John Deere tractors and agricultural equipment, P&K also offers a broad selection of mowers and other lawn and garden equipment from trusted brands like Honda and Stihl. Essentially, the company specializes in equipment solutions that range from leaf blowers and lawn mowers, to chainsaws and generators, all
professional and trustworthy service, P&K is confident that customers will be pleased with their experience at P&K. “Our goal at P&K is to provide solutions with honesty, courtesy and a sense of urgency,” says Advertising Coordinator Erin Wheeler. “Our Owasso store has had tremendous success because of their excellent customer service.” In fact, the P&K team built such a stellar reputation in Owasso, the company decided to have some of its staff travel to locations in Pryor and Bartlesville to share best practices. The strategy aims to reinforce an already deepseated sense of customer care. After all, when team members show stellar results, it’s wise to empower them in such a way that their passion catches on. Randal Bobbitt, store manager, hones in on the keyword. “We empower our staff to take care of customers immediately,” he says. This subtle difference sets P&K apart from competitors as the company continues to build a reputation for strong customer service.
How many times has one had to wait while the guy behind the counter chases down a supervisor for authorization to fuss over a bolt that everyone knows needs replacing? Empowerment of team members is not just rhetoric. Management believes in its crew on the front line, and encourages them to use every tool in their toolbox and trick up their sleeve to get customers back to work in the fields and lawns, faster. Time is valuable, as is knowledge. P&K staff saves customers time by applying their knowledge towards quickly and efficiently solving whatever problem is sidelining your equipment.

Kids, Give It a Shot Recreational player registration for the Broken Arrow Youth Basketball Association runs through October 10, 2014, while space is available. By Duane Blankenship
The Broken Arrow Youth Basketball Association serves the City of Broken Arrow and Broken Arrow Schools. “We are gearing up now for all the exciting action of the 20142015 season,” said Sean Dolan, the organization’s president. Both boys and girls teams will hit the hardwood through two leagues, recreational and select (competitive), beginning this December. “Broken Arrow is a participating member of the Indian Nations Basketball Conference,” says Dolan. “This association was designed to provide a playing season running from December 6, 2014 to March 1, 2015. Postseason playoffs are scheduled
for Championship Saturday, February 28, 2015.” Boys teams and girls teams (not co-ed) consisting of 1st through 8th graders will begin team practice sessions the first week of November. Recreational league rules state that each player on a team will receive playing time in each game. Select or competitive league teams play at a higher level, and rules do not require that each player has playing time in each game. Some of the clubs Broken Arrow teams will be c ompeting against include Sand Springs, Coweta, Metro Christian, Bartlesville, Jenks, Owasso, Claremore, Liberty,
Bixby, Berryhill and Tulsa, as well as other Broken Arrow teams. Youth who wish to participate in the recreational leagues may register now through October 10, 2014, while space is available. Youth residing in the Broken Arrow City Limits or attending a Broken Arrow School are eligible. Area 8th graders trying out for their school’s team must register during normal registration to guarantee availability. Eligibility is subject to verification. Sean Dolan graduated from Broken Arrow High School. In addition to serving as president of the Broken Arrow Youth Basketball Association, he serves as a board member of the Indian Nations Basketball Conference. Mr. Dolan is also the Associate Athletic Director for Development at Oral Roberts University. “Last year Broken Arrow had 72 registered teams, the most we’ve had since joining the Indian Nations Basketball Association,” said Dolan. “This year we’re expecting at least that many or possibly more, depending on how many new players sign up to participate in the program.” If you would like to

Connecting Children with the Loving Homes They Deserve TFI Family Connections LLC expands Oklahoma services.
By Christopher Davis
It is no secret that our state has a crisis when it comes to providing resources and safe homes for displaced children, but the numbers can be paralyzing. “There are 12,025 children in out of home care, with less than 2,000 foster homes statewide in Oklahoma,” explains Rachelle Roosevelt, executive director of TFI Family Connections LLC. In Tulsa County alone, only 235 foster homes are certified, while more than 1,800 children are in need of placement. Surrounding communities’ statistics are hardly more optimistic. “A large number of children in OKDHS custody are placed in shelter care, even as young as 5 and 6 years of age,” Roosevelt explains. “These children should have a safe family home to live in.” TFI Family Connections LLC is a private not-for-profit organization providing services and support for foster children and families across Oklahoma. In partnership with OKDHS and other related departments,
Shenelle Flowers and Michele Rosdahl of TFI Family Connections.
the organization is expanding its reach while maintaining a deep commitment to quality care. Roosevelt and the staff at TFI are digging in and leading the way in the ongoing struggle to recruit families willing to place children in positive, loving homes. Currently serving about 100 children and 68 certified families, the organization is also working with another
100 families in the process of getting certified in the state. Such anticipated expansion may sound like a lot, but there is still a great need for more foster families in Oklahoma. Roosevelt says the need for homes extends to any age, from 0 to 21. She adds, “While 76 percent of children in care are under the age of 10, the hardest to find placement for are teenagers.”
YOU CAN PROVIDE LOVE, STABILITY, & GUIDANCE FOR A CHILD WHO NEEDS YOU.
Potential foster parents must go through a process that includes assessments, background check and 27 hours of training. Along the way, a worker will meet with new foster parents to develop a home study, which will provide the basis for matching a child with your household. After the home study, the process is mainly paperwork. Once contracts are signed, DHS reviews and approves the contracts, after which children are able to be placed in your home. However, it all begins with completing an initial application. Those interested in supporting TFI, but are unable to provide a home environment, are encouraged to consider donating time or resources to the endeavor. Volunteers are always welcome, as are donations. Support for sports, art classes, and musical instruments is especially helpful. School supplies and hygiene items, too, go a long way toward the effort to help children in foster care. For babies and young children, diapers and pull-ups, formula and baby
food is all greatly appreciated. As the holiday season comes into view, consider donating Christmas gifts. With state and federal budgets always in danger of cuts, resources for recruitment efforts are elusive, which is why TFI Family Connections hopes our community steps in to spread the word and get involved. If you or someone you know might be interested in sharing a home, please contact the organization. Rachelle Roosevelt and the TFI staff provide a wealth of information about the application process and are ready to help guide potential foster parents and volunteers to the most effective path to supporting displaced children.

They also carry a wide selection of decorative Clopay steel doors. An attractive garage door adds curb appeal and sets the tone for the rest of your house. “It’s really surprising to see how much a real-
ly nice garage door can change the look of a house for so little money,” says Steve. A large inventory of doors is on hand in the warehouse. Often they can be installed the same day. Each new door goes up with special weather stripping for an added measure of protection. Those who want to replicate specific designs or create their own look can have a custom-built door. Master carpenter Keith Mrozinski crafts each
door as though it were a piece of art going to his own home. “We literally have a door for every need,” says Steve. For those who like to work in their garages, an all glass, full view door lets light in without seeing in. Overhead doors can also be made to fit custom needs, like enclosing large patio spaces and outdoor living areas for year-round use. Steve is proud to be a Liftmaster certified technician
in the new Liftmaster program that features a garage door opener with a battery backup. Even when power is out, you can get in. Cutting-edge technology lets you operate this garage door opener from anywhere in the world with just a touch on your smart phone. Schedule a home repair. Let in a friend or relative. Anti-Aging for the Modern Age done.” A full treatment of Sculptra, an average of three injection sessions over a few months, can last more than two years. Collagen is a key structural component that keeps skin youthful looking and smooth. As you age, your body’s collagen production decreases, and you may begin to see wrinkles. Sculptra is made from poly-Llactic acid. It helps correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds that appear with aging by replacing lost collagen. Sculptra helps to rebuild and regrow your body’s own lost collagen.
Sculptra is suitable for deep folds between the nose and the mouth (nasolabial folds, also called smile lines), the lines framing your mouth (marionette lines), and chin wrinkles. Dr. Ben J. Tittle is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who has been in the practice of Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery since 1989. His goal in the practice of plastic surgery is to deliver the highest quality patient care by applying knowledge and technical expertise within a caring and personal environment. A native Texan, Dr. Tittle
was born and raised in Lufkin. He performed his undergraduate training at Stephen F. Austin University, where he was at the top of his class. He graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1980. He completed his training with a Fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Texas
Reveal Your Beauty for the Holidays continued from page 1 progressive peels, mid-depth and deep peels, back facials and microphototherapy. Summer brings out age spots and quite often, acne. It is not unusual for clients to have acne not just on their faces, but on their backs and arms as well. Sun and chlorine create an all-too-common problem of split ends.
When we think of nails, we automatically think of fingernails. Each employee stays on top of the latest in industry education and then pampers their clients – men, women and children.

TTake a Ride the First Weekend in October Claremore Main Street presents the 8th annual Dickens of a Ride on Saturday, October 4, 2014. By Sheryl Sowell Bicyclists in northeastern Oklahoma, plan to enjoy a great ride on Saturday, October 4 during the Dickens of a Ride bicycle tour through the beautiful rolling hillsides surrounding Claremore. The ride is sponsored by Claremore Main Street, Inc. and supports their many programs and projects throughout the year. Proceeds from the ride help fund preservation efforts, economic development, and special projects including planters, trees, benches and public art. Dickens of a Ride attracts cyclists from Oklahoma and adjoining states. Ride options include distances of 30, 50, 62 and 100 miles. And for those who like to do their bicycling in a more relaxed manner, there is a Lazy Lake Loop, which is approximately seven miles. This is a good ride for beginning cyclists or for young families. All bike routes begin and end at Gazebo Park at Muskogee Avenue and Will Rogers Boulevard. Riders will head west out of Claremore through scenic country sides to Oologah. From there, they will cycle areas surrounding Claremore Lake. Riders on the longer routes will continue pedaling east of town through chal-

lenging, rolling hillsides before they head back to Gazebo Park. At the conclusion of the bike ride, cyclists are urged to stop by the Gazebo, where lots of really nice door prizes will be awarded by drawings as participants return. Ride coordinator Cindy Bissett says, “The Boomarang Diner is offering a great Breakfast Ride Special beginning at 6 a.m. the day of the ride.” It will include one egg, two pieces of bacon or sausage, toast or biscuit and gravy, and hash brown potatoes. Milk, coffee or juice is not included with the special, but may be purchased separately. There will also be eight well-supplied rest stops along the bike routes where riders look forward to sitting a spell and taking advantage of numerous home baked goodies and fruit. Excellent mechanical and SAG support will be provided on the Dickens of a Ride until 5 p.m. Be sure to wear your ANSI, CPSC, or Snell approved helmet if you plan on participating in the ride; it’s required. Visit the www.downtownclaremore.org to register online or if you prefer, you may print a registration form, fill it out, and
mail it in with your check. Registration packets may be picked up at Bike-About Bicyles, 300 W. Muskogee Ave., on Thursday, October 2, 5.p.m. until 7 p.m. You may also get your packet beginning at 6 a.m. on the day of the ride. Maps will be provided, and you need to be prepared for some hills.
