Jim Glover Chevrolet has been awarded the Chevrolet Dealer of the Year Award for three consecutive years – 2011, 2012 and 2013. This year’s presentation was made in early June. Mr. Glover thanked his com-

The name of this boutique wellness studio shows what clients have to gain – Strength of Mind and Body. With offerings in Pilates, fitness, yoga and wellness, owner Teresa McIlroy provides a place of quiet retreat where clients can come to de-stress from daily life and focus on taking care of themselves, both mind and body. “My passion in life has been to help people live fully,” explains Teresa, a licensed phys-
ical therapist, pilates instructor and wellness coach. “From the young to the elderly, athletes to post rehab, and anyone in between, my focus is on the individual, not a set program.” Classes include pilates mat, three levels of pilates reformer, and yoga mat. Personal training, partner appointments, wellness coaching and nutrition coaching are also available. Class size, limited to five for pilates and ten for yoga, allows the instructor to pay attention
to each individual’s posture, alignment and breathing, without the distraction of loud music and television screens. A new piece of equipment, the Core Align, is designed for over 200 exercises for individual tailoring. This machine is popular in numerous metropolitan areas, but it is just receiving its Tulsa introduction through Strength of Mind and Body. (continued on page 26)

ASK THE MONEY MAVEN STRAIGHT-FORWARD, NO-NONSENSE TALK ABOUT YOUR MONEY
Beginning With The End In Mind BY MELANIE HASTY-GRANT
I was blessed this past year with the honor of sitting at the bedside of one of my very first clients while I assisted him and his wife with arranging for hospice. These are long term clients and we have walked quite a long journey together. Many, many years ago this couple came in to see me with the little money they had saved. They told me their hopes and dreams for when they retired. We came up with a plan. Over the years they have developed their wealth the old fashioned way. They worked hard, kept their expenses low, saved a lot, got laid off, changed jobs, rolled over pensions, and 401k’s. Life didn’t always go as planned. We adjusted our plan to accommodate life. A few years ago we worked with an estate planning attorney to develop a trust, a living will, a power of attorney, a health care directive.
They bit the bullet and invested in a joint long-term care policy. Finally, they retired. Within a couple of months of retiring, Chuck was diagnosed with terminal cancer. As I walked down the hall of the hospital to his room, I couldn’t help but think about all of the sacrifices they had made and all the planning we had done. As I entered his room, he recognized me and said “Melanie, this is not what we had planned!” I said “I know. We’ve got to get back on track!” We laughed for a moment and then cried
for a few. “I want you to promise me that you will help Mary figure out all of the financial stuff and I want you to make sure she takes the next step and holds on to the things we had dreamed,” he said, and I promised I would. Sometimes things work out exactly as we planned. Sometimes God has a different plan. In the end, you will want to know that no matter what, your loved ones can go on and that you have taken care of them. A life well lived…beginning with the end in mind. And tomorrow, I begin again…with Mary. I am so very grateful that I get to do what I do and help people along this journey. For more information go to www.waterstonewealth.com. and the neck can show dramatic improvement with PRP,” adds Dr. Campbell. Ultherapy is a new type of non-surgical, non-invasive procedure that uses ultrasound and the body’s own natural healing process to lift, tone, and tighten loose skin on the brow, neck, and under the chin. The only FDA-approved procedure to lift skin on these hard-to-treat areas, Ultherapy uses the safe, time-tested energy of ultrasound to stimulate the deep structural support layers of the skin – including those typically addressed in a surgical facelift – without disturbing the surface of the skin. With Ultherapy, you can go about your day after a single, 60 to 90 minute in-office procedure. “Most of the procedures at BA Med Spa have an immediate effect, and it’s very satisfying when people look in the mirror and say, ‘Wow.’ Many people, especially women, have spent their whole lives doing things for everyone else, and they are so happy when they finally do something for themselves and change their looks for the better,” says Malissa. BA Med Spa also offers quality, at-home skin care lines, including Obagi, Circadia and SkinMedica. “You do not have to go under the knife to look fabulous!” says Malissa. EEnjoying Life Again
Spinal Decompression of Oklahoma helps patient look forward to retirement and travel. By Carol Beck-Round Rick Brewster is a new man today. Thanks to Spinal Decompression of Oklahoma in Claremore, Rick is able to sleep soundly each night without the aid of a painkiller. Rick has been employed by PSO of Oklahoma for 35 years. Climbing ladders and lifting heavy spools of wire wore him down. “I was on my feet a lot,” he says. At age 49, Rick had to have a hip replacement. About six years later, the back pain began. Moving to a desk position with PSO seemed to ease it somewhat. However, the pain was interrupting his sleep. In fact, Rick admits to a need for 12 Ibuprofen a day or 2,400 milligrams of the nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug to cope with the pain and inflammation.
He thought the back pain might be caused by the hip replacement. After a visit to his hip surgeon, that was ruled out. “He sent me to a back doctor who wanted to do surgery,” he says. “I didn’t like the idea of surgery, nor did I want to start taking narcotics to ease the pain.” Rick also feared the continual use of Ibuprofen. “I was twisting and turning every night with pain until I got up to take an Ibuprofen.” On a visit to his family doctor, Dr. Dwight Korgan, he mentioned his back pain – which has been attributed to degeneration. After a thorough examination, Dr. Korgan discussed the use of spinal decompression to aid Rick with his pain so he could function in his daily life, sleep better and
Rick Brewster, a PSO employee, credits Spinal Decompression of Oklahoma for bringing relief to his back and helping him to look forward to retiring in a few years so he can travel with his wife in their motor home around the country, and especially to visit their grandchildren in Houston more often.
get off the medications. After his first four treatments, Rick’s pain began to ease up. He visited Spinal Decompression of Oklahoma two to three times a week for the 45-minute to one-hour sessions. While he admits to being sore at first, there was no pain during the actual sessions. “They also give you a product called BioFreeze, which helps when you get sore,” he adds. “It’s also great when you overdo it every now and then.” Rick finished up his 20 sessions of spinal decompression in January and has been pain-free ever since. “I can sleep all night without pain,” he says. Occasionally, when he overdoes it outdoors – like cleaning and stacking brush at his mother’s house – he feels a twinge of pain, which can be relieved with his stretching exercises and the BioFreeze.
Dr. Korgan advises his patients to do a twice-daily set of stretching exercises that he provides. “I do them faithfully, morning and evening,” says Rick. “It helps to loosen up the back muscles.” Rick is so pleased with his results that he encourages friends and co-workers with back trouble to seek help through Spinal Decompression of Oklahoma. Recently, a friend from out of town recommended the treatment to one of Rick’s co-workers. With both men’s recommendations, the co-worker is now seeking relief from his back pain. “It’s the best thing I’ve ever tried,” Rick adds. “It has helped me so much. I wanted to avoid surgery after other co-workers had undergone procedures for their pain. They told me to look for alternatives and to put it off as long
as I could because it had not really helped them.” Rick is now looking forward to retirement in a few years and traveling in his motor home with his wife, especially to visit his grandchildren in Houston. “Now, I can walk around to sightsee and spend time with my grandkids,” he adds. “Before, the pain wouldn’t allow me to do much walking.” For more information, contact

SAY “NO” TO BACK SURGERY “After having an MRI, I was diagnosed with having a herniated disc. The pain was like a knife jabbing in my buttock and down my legs. My whole life changed, not being able to escape the disabling pain. After cortisone epidurals in my spine, the pain returned. My doctor told me that I was facing surgery on my back and to prepare to spend thousands of dollars and be off work for several months. Then I found Dr. Day and heard about the success he was having treating disc problems by using a new procedure called Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression. Dr. Day was one of the first doctors in the area to use this new treatment and has had over 30 years experience treating bad backs. So I decided to try it! On a scale of 1-10 my pain was an 8 when I started but after only a few weeks of treatment my pain level dropped to a 0-1. I am now able to get up in the morning and get dressed by myself, put my shoes on without holding on to something (which I haven’t been able to do in a very long time). I am very happy with my treatment and am so glad I said ''No!'' to back surgery. Thank you, Dr. Day for everything you and your staff did for me!"

AA Show That Rocks The Tulsa Rock, Mineral and Gem Show will be held July 11-13 at the Tulsa Fairgrounds. By Mark Roe
The Tulsa Rock and Mineral Society’s (TRMS) annual show at the Tulsa Fairgrounds promises to be bigger and better than ever. Liz Thomas is publicity director for the show. “This year we are pleased to announce that TRMS is hosting the national conference for our parent organization, the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (AFMS),” said Liz. The conference will be held in conjunction with the show, and Thomas said this will put a national spotlight on Oklahoma. The event will be held July 11-13 in Central Park Hall on the Tulsa State Fairgrounds. The theme will be “Rocks and Gems of Indian Territory.”
According to Liz, “When TRMS learned we had won the right to host the 2014 conference, we decided we wanted to use this opportunity to showcase not only the work of TRMS but also to use this as an opportunity to promote the amazing array of different products that bear the ‘Made in Oklahoma’ brand.” Liz said delegates to the conference will receive gift bags stuffed with a wide array of Oklahoma-made items including Head Country BBQ Sauce, a gift set from Tulsa’s own Grandma’s Pure and Natural Soaps, and a selection of syrups, jellies and jams from Griffin’s, just to name a few. Liz’s husband Ben Thomas is co-chair for the show and conference. “Usually we have
from 1,000 to 1,500 people at our annual shows. This year because of the conference, we are expecting to at least double that number,” he said.

this year’s show and conference will be daily talks delivered by Steve Arnold, co-host of the Discovery Channel show “Meteorite Men.” Demonstrations at the show will include lapidary arts such as gem cutting and polishing, as well as flint knapping, the ancient art of making arrow heads. Ben said the best rock, gem and mineral dealers from around the country will be on hand to sell their wares, and dealer provided door prizes will be awarded every hour. Single day adult admission to the event is $6, three day passes are $10, and children under 12 get in free. Scouts, military, police and fire department members in uniform will also receive free admission. For more information about the show, you can contact Liz or Ben Thomas at (918) 486-3788 or visit www.ttownrockhound.org.
While the conference is for delegates, the show itself is open to the public, and Ben said there will be displays, demonstrations, activities, and lectures designed to entertain and inform both avid rock hounds and the general public. “One of the big things this year will be a sluice where the public can purchase bags of mine ore that has been seeded with gems. The ore is put on screens and the dirt is then washed away in a ‘stream,’” said Ben. Slushers get to keep any gems they find, and for an additional fee, lapidaries will be on hand to offer their skills to turn any special finds into jewelry. Another special event at

Bartram, JJohn the King’s Gardener The Tulsa Herb Society hosts a historical presentation of America’s first botanist and horticulturist on July 14 at the Tulsa Garden Center. By Tina Lynn
The Tulsa Herb Society is proud to introduce Kirk R. Brown, who delivers a first person, biographical and historical presentation on the life of America’s first botanist and horticulturist, John Bartram. His humor, his passion and his achievements will entertain, inspire and awe as he shares his hope for the future of the earth and the men who inhabit it. His session is designed to be a costumed, stand-alone opening keynote on the subject of sustainability and green earth awareness. John Bartram, the King’s Gardener is July 14 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Tulsa Garden Center, 2435 S. Peoria Ave. Admission is free and reservations aren’t required. John Bartram will welcome you with the horticultural history of America as he began it in Philadelphia and Penn’s Woods. His story starts in 1699 and moves up to the American Revolutionary War and 1776. He stands at the very beginning

He had the plants. He was on a public road out from the city of Philadelphia. He had people knocking on his front door. All he had to do was print a sign that stated the hours of operation and let them in. Make Your Summer Remodeling Dreams a Reality Tile by Tony offers more than simple tile work – the team skillfully transforms entire kitchens and bathrooms. By Christopher Davis
Summer is in full swing, and now is the time to get moving on any plans for remodeling. Fall’s rain will be here before we know it. For those in search of quality craftsmanship from workers you can feel comfort-
able welcoming into your home, Tile by Tony is the first call to make. Tony Sementi opened his business in 1982 with an emphasis on tile work. Gradually, he realized it made sense to take on larger bathroom and kitchen projects, and began

applying his skill and eye for detail beyond the tile work he’d become known for. With his wife, Debbie, running the office and daughters holding down the fort at the showroom, Sementi’s family makes up the foundation of Tile by Tony. Over the years, he’s picked up craftsmen as if recruiting players for a playoff run. Today, his crew is a dream team of sorts, winning over clients with results that boast the finest quality work in the region. As with any successful team, coaching is as important as the individual players. Sementi has invested precious time
and energy into training his workers, and is not the type to supervise from behind a desk. “I’m real hands on, and that makes a difference,” he says. Tony visits each project site every day to be sure everything is running smoothly and everyone is on the same page. And with very low turnover amongst his crew, Sementi is confident in plans being executed with the same degree of accuracy and attention to detail that brought him early success. “We want things to last,” he says. After all, what good is it to do a job that will not hold up to years of use and living? “We focus on doing things the right way,” says Sementi. “If you think hiring a professional is expensive, wait until you hire an amateur to do the job.” And this is the idea to keep in mind as you consider whether to do it yourself, hire a professional, or take a chance on that friend of a coworker you keep hearing about at the water cooler. “You’ve got to know these people are going to be friendly and safe,” Sementi adds.

The crew at Tile by Tony is courteous, clean, professional and trustworthy. From the floors you walk on to the air your family breathes, the crew will ensure your home remains safe and clean throughout the project. But you don’t have to take Sementi’s word for it. Tile by Tony has received five awards from Angie’s List, a website that compiles members’ reviews of companies and their services. Additionally, the Better Business Bureau has named Tile by Tony to its Honor Roll. Stop in at the showroom in Catoosa and get a hands-on look at various materials and fixtures.

Chimneys and Roofs are What They Do
It’s full speed ahead for second generation family owners of Black Hat Cleaning & Roofing. By Duane Blankenship
Founded in 1977 by David E. Harris, Black Hat Cleaning Services has served the Tulsa metro area for 37 years, providing chimney cleaning and repair, air duct cleaning, and dryer vent cleaning and repair. In January, second-generation family members took over the reins of managing the business, and they’ve been running full speed ahead ever since. The new management team includes David E.’s son and daughter, David CR Harris and Patience Boles, and David E.’s son-in-law, Michael Boles. David CR and Patience have literally grown up in the family-owned and operated business, and Michael has 25 years of experience in the roofing industry. He joined the Black Hat team almost two years ago to establish and operate the new Roofing Division. With the amount of time Black Hat has spent on roof tops over the years, it was a natural progression to add
roofing to the menu of services. “No project is too large or small for us, and Black Hat is here to stay,” said Michael. “Most area residents recognize the name and know that Black Hat is a company they can trust.” “With the incorporation of roofing into the business,” said Patience, “we’ve also added guttering and attic insulation removal.” The company does all types of light construction including rebuilding roofs, chimney chases, soffit replacement and repair, and siding replacement and repair. “We do just about any type of outdoor repair, and our Cleaning Division cleans flues, air ducts and dryer vents,” said Patience. “Most of our customers think of us as their outdoor handyman.” Michael adds, “We want Oklahoma residents to know that Black Hat Cleaning Services & Roofing has deep, well-established roots in this
part of the state.” Black Hat is also a member of the Better Business Bureau, and they’re working hard to grow their Roofing Division as they add new services to the lineup. When you enlist Black Hat, you’ll appreciate the comfort you find in knowing that an actual member of the Harris family (complete with black hat) will come to your door and supervise or perform the requested services. “The black hat is an integral part of our identity,” said David CR, “and we wear them just about everywhere we go. Dad initiated the practice as he went door-to-door with flyers when he began his business. We still enjoy wearing the hats as we work to help keep customers’ homes and businesses safe and clean.” When you need a new roof or are interested in more information about Black Hat’s cleaning services, call Black Hat. The Roofing Division
Black Hat Cleaning Services & Roofing is now managed by second-generation family owners Mike Boles, Patience Boles and David CR Harris.
provides a no-obligation free roof inspection. Summer is a great time to have your chimney cleaned and checked. When cold weather returns later this year, all you’ll have to do is light a fire and know that your chimney is good to go.

Fraudsters Out In Full Force This Summer “Financially Fit” by RCB Bank is your personal home fitness guide for all things financial.
By Jocelyn Wood
Fraud season is in full gear. Last month, we offered ways to protect you and your money while traveling. This month, let’s talk about fraud that may occur closer to home, at your local grocery store, the ball park, even at the pool – check fraud. “Summer brings more opportunities for fraudsters to catch us with our guard down,” said RCB Bank Chief Physical Security Officer Christy Wild, who also investigates and processes all check fraud targeting bank customers. During the dog days of summer when the weather heats up, family activities increase and summer vacation fills our head, there is a surge in all forms of fraud, according to Wild. Fraud against bank deposit accounts cost the industry $1.77 billion in losses in 2012,
according to American Bankers Association estimates. Checks remain the payment type most vulnerable to fraud attacks. The most common way for check fraud to occur would be someone stealing your checks and forging your signature to buy merchandise, according to Wild. “For example, ball parks are an excellent place to find a lot of unattended vehicles to break into and steal purses, wallets and electronic equipment.” Another way would be to get your account number and routing number by stealing your mail that has statements or a check payment for a bill you are sending out, Wild said. “They then would produce a counterfeit check, which is very easy and cheap because all you need is a computer, which most people have,” she said. How can you protect yourself?
A purse left in an unattended vehicle is easy picking for fraudsters. Pictured: Christy Wild, RCB Bank Security Officer.
The best advice Wild provides consumers is to not leave anything valuable in your unattended vehicle. “If you have to leave your purse, wallet or any electronic devices in an unattended vehicle make sure they are unseen by placing them in a console, glove box or locking them in your trunk,” she said. Other tips include: Try to keep all banking information out of the mail box unless absolutely necessary, and do not leave mail setting in your mail box for days at a time. Watch your statements or other bank records closely for
any unauthorized transactions. Report any suspicious activity to your bank immediately; the faster they know the faster they can prevent a bigger loss. When out only take what is necessary, for example your keys, purse or wallet and your preferred method of payment be a check, cash or debit card; that way your loss is minimized to only one form of fraud. Never carry social security cards in your wallet or purse. If you suspect check fraud, call your bank immediately to file a statement. For questions about check
fraud or other scams, call RCB Bank’s Fraud Department at 1-877-361-0814. They are happy to help. For more savings tips and other financial articles, go to www.RCBbank.com/newsroom. For more information, contact

Free Healthy Cooking Classes Cancer Treatment Centers of America’s Tulsa location wants you to eat healthy to stay healthy.
By Mark Roe
The staff at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) wants you to stay healthy. Kalli Castille is the director of nutritional support and culinary at CTCA. “It is part of our mission at CTCA to reach out to the community and be
proactive about helping people learn to lead healthier lifestyles and avoid diseases like cancer and diabetes,” said Castille. One way CTCA is fulfilling its mission of community outreach is by offering a series of demonstrations of healthy

cooking techniques and recipes. The classes are free and open to the public. All ages are welcome to attend the demonstrations. “Whether you have an existing medical condition or just want to learn some new healthy recipes, we have something for you,” said Castille. The series started last December with a course on gluten-free cooking. On July 7 at 6:30 p.m., the series will continue when CTCA Executive Chef Kenny Wagoner will be demonstrating healthy ideas and recipes for summer cooking. “We have come up with some great, fun ideas for food you can prepare at the beach or in your back yard or for any outings or get-together you may be having this time of year,” said Castille. On July 21 at 4 p.m., Wagoner will present an especially tasty program, “Healthy Sweet Treats for all Ages.” Wagoner will be demonstrating ways to make desserts and other treats without using sugar. “Avoiding overly refined products like sugar has been shown to be of major benefit to maintaining a healthy body,” said Castille. “By using whole foods like coconut milk and yogurt to add sweetness and lemon zest for tartness, you are not only avoiding the negative effects of refined foods, but you are also increasing the nutrition you are getting from the foods you eat.” The demonstrations are being held at Ricardo’s Café, which is the on-premise employee café in the main hospital building at CTCA. “We encourage everyone to come out

www.ValueNews.com travels back into the streams and rivers that we depend on for our water and that support aquatic species. Removing this sediment uses other scarce resources and the sediment often is harmful for the aquatic species. Whatever rainwater is captured by rain barrels doesn’t become stormwater. For those advocating natural gardening methods, the use of captured rainwater provides a source of pure water without any absorbed chemicals from either treatment or ground contact, since rainwater is captured as it runs off the roof of structures. Mr. Riera utilizes rain barrels in his own landscape and can help homeowners with the practical considerations of installing rain barrels and utilizing them for recycling rainwater. Tulsa Garden Center and CocaCola present Rain Barrels, An Environmental Solution, on Thursday, July 31 at 6:30 p.m. Alexander Riera of Coca-Cola will present this workshop on creating and utilizing rain barrels for water conservation. Mr. Riera’s workshop is part of CocaCola’s worldwide focus on water conservation. The Coca-Cola Company (TCCC) and their bottling partners announced that they are on track to meet their 2020 water replenishment goal to replace every drop of water used in their beverages and production to the communities. To date, they have replenished an estimated 108.5 billion liters of water back to communities and nature through 509 community water projects in more than 100 countries. In North America, through partnerships and projects, the Company has replenished more than 40 percent – nearly 14 billion liters – back to communities and nature since 2008. Single families account for 55 percent of all water usage, and over half of this usage is for outdoor irrigation, making it the single largest usage of water.
barrels, integrating them into the landscape design, and the methodology of delivering the rainwater to the landscape will all be discussed. The workshop will lead participants in a step-bystep process of installing the rain barrel apparatus onto the empty barrel. Pre-registration is required as Coca-Cola has provided 20 rain barrels and conversion kits for the workshop. The Tulsa Garden Center is offering the first 20 registrants the opportunity to purchase the rain barrels and kits for $20 (one per household) if they are Tulsa Garden Center members, or $25 if nonmembers. The rain barrel and conversion kit is valued at $120 to $140, and information will be provided during the workshop on where to purchase additional barrels and kits. This offer is limited to one per household. All other attendees or those that do not wish to receive a rain barrel and conversion kit may attend the workshop at no cost. The workshop will be in the auditorium of Tulsa Garden Center, 2435 S. Peoria Ave. at 6:30 p.m., July 31, 2014. Call (918) 746-5125 for more information or to enroll. Payment must be made at time of enrollment.

Jim Glover Named Chevrolet Dealer of the Year of exceptional performance for outstanding sales, customer satisfaction, and service and involvement within the community. “We thank Tulsans for their confidence in our dealership and for providing us the opportunity to be involved in many great programs like Folds of Honor,” said Jared Glover. The Folds of Honor Foundation is a program rallying our nation to ensure that no family is left behind in the fight to preserve American freedom. Through scholarships and other assistance, the organization gives back to spouses and children of soldiers killed
or disabled in service to our country. Family members are provided healing, hope and an opportunity for dreams to be made possible through corporate and individual support. The vision is for every spouse and dependent of a wounded or fallen service member to have the financial opportunity to pursue higher education. It is an ongoing tribute to our brave men and women who defend the liberties and peace that we enjoy. Jim Glover Chevrolet hosted its first Military Month in May 2013. “We made a donation for every vehicle sold, new or used, during the month of May resulting in a
donation of $70,000 to Folds of Honor,” said Jared. “We repeated the program in June of this year and will soon have the results.” Jim Glover Chevrolet has also created a Special Patriot Edition Silverado that is branded with Folds of Honor embroidery and exterior badges. This is an ongoing program that provides a $600 donation to Folds of Honor for each Special Edition Silverado sold. events in the area that include several car shows. It has a huge “piggy bank” in the bed of the truck where public donations are welcomed if you are interested in supporting Folds of Honor. “We’re dedicated to our involvement with the community,” said Jared. Jim Glover Chevrolet was the main sponsor of Rockets Over Rhema in June. They will be a sponsor of Hunger Action Month with the Oklahoma Food Bank this September. They also host an annual toy drive for Toys for Tots. Last year, in just one day, in conjunction with the Corvette Club and Camaro Club, they filled 14

Some of the benefits of an Luxury Vinyl Tile/Plank are that they are great coverings in a “wet” area like the kitchen, they tend to be less expensive than real wood, and they are much more family-friendly, especially

Stone is still a popular product as well, especially travertine patterns. Leslie Pennington, Grigsby’s rug consultant, says the 2014 market featured lots of neutral colors and designs that are more transitional rather than traditional. Moroccan patterns are also popular. The Grigsby’s commercial department has a rubber flooring product on display for industrial areas such as workout rooms, utility rooms and garages. “When it gets dirty, just wash or hose it off,” says Carnino. Whole Person Wellness Partner sessions are popular for both male and female golf and tennis partners who want to keep in sync, as well as friends who want to encourage each other or split the cost of a session. Wellness coaching is a concept that addresses mental and physical health together. For anyone who has said over and over, “I am going to start my diet next week,” or “One of these day I will slow down and take care of myself,” wellness coaching could be a way of turning wishful thinking into major accomplishments.
Another new service that Teresa is eager to introduce to clients is nutrition consultation. This one-on-one personalized consultation with a registered dietician can be a lifesaver, whether it is for weight management or improved nutrition status in general. A special pantry makeover includes a home visit from the dietician to evaluate food choices in the pantry, refrigerator and freezer. It also includes a healthier makeover of the client’s three favorite recipes. Beth Cassody, licensed physical therapist assistant,
continued from page 1 worked with Teresa many years ago and came to Strength of Mind and Body as a client. Now she works side by side with Teresa again to help clients meet their goals. Teresa believes their background in physical therapy gives clients a whole lot more than any traditional gym. “We can gear exercise for specific sports, and even work with sports injuries,” she says. Many of her clients have come after surgeries and all their insurance-covered therapy was exhausted. Even though sessions are not cov-
ered by insurance, clients can still get the exercise treatment they need. It is not unusual for Teresa to hear words of thanks from clients with inflammatory conditions who thought they would never again be able to work in their gardens, ride their bikes or simply hold their grandchildren. “We help clients do the things they want to do for as long as they want. They can age very gracefully,” she says. Future plans call for a women’s health program with classes in pre- and post-natal
care and osteoporosis prevention. To schedule a tour and get to know the staff, call Strength of Mind and Body, located in Berkshire Plaza one block east of 88th and Garnett.

AA Banner Year for WaveOn

Banners on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, or check out their website for more info. “We look forward to speaking with you about your design ideas and helping you transform those ideas into a beautiful, quality creation you are certain to love.”
New company owner Devone Chezem of WaveOn Flags & Banners is excited to continue the company’s 20-year tradition of providing high-quality products and excellent customer service.
By Sheryl Sowell For all your flag and banner needs, WaveOn Flags & Banners in Langley, Okla. is the place to call. WaveOn provides custom appliqué flags and banners of all sizes, made specifically for the client using their logo or design, as well as custom decals, lettering, signs and shirts. They also offer American, military and state flags available for purchase. “What we do here is truly an art form,” says owner Devone Chezem. Appliqué is the process of taking a design, creating a pattern from that design, cutting the pattern out of nylon, and sewing it onto the flag or banner background. Great attention is paid to every single detail of the design. “The end result is a beautiful, hand-sewn flag or banner made with the highest quality materials for you to proudly display,” says Devone. “The details in the stitching will amaze you.” All ny-
lon threads used are 100 percent made in the USA. The company, formerly known as Angie’s Grand Flags, has been in business for 20 years. Last November, Devone purchased the company after working in fundraising and damage assessment for the American Red Cross for six years. “Helping people who have lost everything after a tornado or a fire is very personal work that fulfills your soul. I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur, but I wanted to find something that matched that feeling,” says Devone. “What we do at WaveOn does just that. When a client orders a banner with their family crest, or a veteran orders a personal Marine Corps battalion flag, it is personal to them and they feel very strongly about it. It is so rewarding to provide meaningful, customized products to clients who will cherish them
for years. What you fly over your home or business reflects who you are and what you’re all about, and people take that seriously. Client interaction is my favorite part of the job.” Devon Chezem, Lucy Duwel, Rhonda Hinton, and Tina Hastings stand in The services front of the large variety of nylon colors available at WaveOn WaveOn offers are Flags & Banners. unique, and they’re different from similar flags.
