Where Pizza Gets Personal
RV Dealership Setting the Standard
At Top That! Pizza, there’s no need to share or spend a lot of money – now top that!
Bob Hurley is one of the most respected and largest automotive dealers in the state of Oklahoma. In January of this year, he and business partner Kim Siex opened the doors of Bob Hurley RV. They began the venture with just two employees and two RV trailers. They now have 28 employees and an inventory of over 200 RV units. In June alone, Bob Hurley RV sold 79 units. Kim is a 31-year veteran of the RV industry and credits much of the company’s early success to Sales Manager Tina Campbell. Tina has 16 years of experience in the RV industry and was first hired by Kim when (continued on page 22)
By Christopher Davis Every pizza lover has had to play the game. Whether out with friends or a family meal, there is always that moment where two, three or even seven people must navigate the social landmines of deciding what will go on the pizza. Inevitably, someone will sacrifice in the name of saving a few dollars and avoiding arguments. Let’s face it; sharing is good, except when pizza is involved. Top That! Pizza offers a solution that renders this awkward game a long-lost tradition. The solution is simple – everyone gets their own pizza and unlimited toppings. It really is that simple. At Top That! Pizza at Tulsa Hills South, pizza gets personal. Everyone gets exactly what they are hungry for, and at an affordable price. “We have over 40 choices of veggie and meat selections, ten different cheeses, three different crusts and eight different sauces,” explains Samantha Bell, assistant manager. “For no extra charge, customers can add as many toppings as they want.” Owner Sean Swank, who is a 19-year Air Force veteran, adds, “A lot of people get intimidated at first when they see all the choices, so we do have some signature
combinations on the menu. After a couple visits, though, they start experimenting and modifying with their toppings.” If you are not up for pizza at the moment, Top That! Pizza offers fresh-made salads and bakes (meatball and chicken chunk based dishes) as well. With several options for meal combinations (includes a drink and salad) and family deals, as well as plenty of drink and dessert selections, you are guaranteed to find something for any appetite and every budget. Top That! Pizza also partners with teams, schools and other organizations for fundraisers. “On fundraiser days, customers put receipts in our fundraiser box. At the end, we tally them up and 20 percent goes to the organization,” explains Mr. Swank. “It really is an easy, fun and helpful fundraiser. We love having schools and teams in here – we have a lot of fun.” Fun is certainly one of the words that comes to mind as you enter Top That! Pizza. Everyone is smiling – customers and staff alike. There are a handful of games for kids to play in between slices. Large screens on the wall (continued on page 22)

NNew Additions to South Pointe The service department at South Pointe Chevrolet continues to grow.
By Duane Blankenship Parts and Service Director Ben Perry recently announced the addition of Service Advisor Rebecca Speck to the South Pointe Chevrolet service team. Rebecca says, “I am now where I belong and where I want to be. I love my job and the people I work with.” Rebecca says she has always enjoyed cars, even as a young girl. Her first car was a Chevy Chevelle. She and members of her family customized it, making
it a high-performance vehicle. “With it came a lot of responsibility,” she said. “Dad made me change my own tires and hoses and keep maintenance records.” Rebecca has been in customer service and in automotive service for the past ten years. “I saw an ad for a service advisor at a used car lot and applied for the job.” She was hired on the spot. “My new boss took a chance with me,” said
Rebecca, “but giving me the opportunity worked out for us both.” South Pointe’s Randy Brooks and Mike Renner serviced the car lot’s vehicles for Rebecca. “They always took time to explain recommended services and taught me a lot.” If you haven’t been to South Pointe Chevrolet for a while, you’ll be surprised at the changes that have been implemented to improve your service experience. Manager Ben Perry has nearly 30

years in the business, mainly with GM products. “It’s great being here at South Pointe Chevrolet and working with such a great service team,” said Ben. Ben’s organizational skills are obvious and he has an inherent dedication to serving customers. After spending just a couple of minutes with him, you realize how much he enjoys people. Ben says his ongoing goal is improving customer retention, with the ultimate aim of “once a customer, always a customer.” “We earn the loyalty of our customers through continued hard work and making sure each realizes that we’re doing our best to put them first,” said Ben. “The only way you can fully appreciate our efforts is to come in and give us a try.” South Pointe’s service technicians have some of the highest ratings in their zone, and Ben is doing his best to ensure that they keep their top rating. “We want customers to understand that there is truly no reason to go anywhere else for products or service,” he emphasized. South Pointe does literally everything for your vehicle. “You can buy tires, batteries, and accessories from us. You can have your vehicle serviced if you’re having a
problem, and you can bring it in for suggested manufacturer maintenance whether you bought your GM vehicle from South Pointe or not. We’ll change your oil, rotate your tires, and even detail your vehicle,” said Ben. South Pointe technicians are highly trained in specific areas of vehicle maintenance and service. These areas of training include heavy-line techs, drivability, suspension and steering, trim and electrical, and heating and air conditioning. Whatever service you might need, South Pointe will have a technician specifically trained and skilled in that area. You’ll find just about anything for your vehicle at South Pointe with the exception of gasoline. “Come in and get acquainted,” said Ben. “We want you to experience the first-class treatment you’ll be given.” When you stop by, be sure to see Ben and ask him about the Manager’s Special.

JJeremiah Crew 24-7 at The Rock Church The Rock Church offers youth a place for community, learning and worship with the Jeremiah Crew 24-7. By Christopher Davis Jeremiah 24:7 (NIV): “I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.” This passage from the Bible was the inspiration behind the new name for the youth group at The Rock Church. Pastor Billy Joe Watts explains, “We decided to hold a naming contest for our youth group, and a cousin of one
of our members, Esther – who lives in Manchester, England – suggested the name ‘Jeremiah Crew 24-7.’” Pastor Watts recalls that the young woman, who is finishing high school across the pond, travelled all the way to Tulsa to meet up with the congregation, before travelling with them to Florida to attend Camp Decision. Pastor Watts goes on to describe how her entry spoke to him, “The contest simply

called for a name to be submitted, but she went above and beyond. Esther had included the referenced passage with the suggested name; she tied it together in such a way that the name operated on multiple levels.” Such impressive accomplishments from a teenager might seem extraordinary to some, but Pastor Billy Joe Watts and his wife, Theresa, have come to expect greatness from their young congregants. The Jeremiah Crew 24-7 serves as a hub for more than 30 teenagers who come together for Bible study, social functions, community outreach and fundraisers for activities and events. And that’s just the beginning. The couple has called the Tulsa area home since the early 80s, when Pastor Billy Joe began studying at Rhema Bible College and, eventually, leading services there. Fast forward a couple decades, and they formed their congregation, The Rock Church. Established six years ago, the Watts have seen their church grow. Now, they find themselves
surrounded by a diverse group of families and in a position to serve in an even broader and deeper way than ever before. The naming of the Jeremiah Crew 24-7 is their way of consolidating much of their various youth activities and programs and presenting it with some new ideas and energy. For years, Pastor Billy Joe has been speaking at events like Camp Decision and offering life coaching and motivational speaking. This new youth group provides a context to nurture these tried and true approaches, while infusing even more direct engagement with their teen members. One recent activity with TJC 24-7 was an overnight event. Theresa describes her church sleepover with the teenage girls, “We started out with some games and snacks to keep it light. Then, we watched a movie. Following the movie, we had late-night discussion about some of the themes and issues raised in the movie.” Theresa recalls the most recent movie they watched was the classic “Anne of Green Gables.” As expected, some of the girls were underwhelmed – at first. Theresa laughs, “At first, they were predictable teens and some complained it was slowmoving. But, it wasn’t too long before they settled in. A couple of the girls really identified with the story, because they had been in a foster home. We had a great discussion that night.” Pastor Billy Joe explains that The Jeremiah Crew 24-7 participates in a variety of activities. Some activities feature discussions where the girls and boys are separated, but there are also
Page 7
many co-ed activities. Some of the routine expectations for the youth will immediately resonate with parents. For example, at sessions known as ACT (After Church Together), the teens are required to give up their phones as they begin discussions and Bible study. Pastor Watts grins, “At first, they resisted, but we insisted. Now, if we are running late and haven’t passed the basket around to collect their phones, someone will remind us!” Common activities also include public speaking, discussions about current events and tracking progress in school. This emphasis on real world readiness in the context of serving God sets the Jeremiah Crew 24-7 and The Rock Church apart from many congregations. It is obvious that Pastors Billy Joe and Theresa have big hearts and love serving God and others. Without a doubt, their congregation will continue to grow. The Jeremiah Crew 24-7 meets every second Sunday for a special church service and every first and third Sunday at After Church Together. GGreat Food for a Great Cause
The Oklahoma Championship Steak Cook-off brings small-town family fun to the backyard of the Deco District on August 24.
By Christopher Davis The best cooks from all over will descend upon the Deco District and line the streets with grills, steaks and smiles when the fifth annual Oklahoma Championship Steak Cook-off takes place on Saturday, August 24 in downtown Tulsa. The nonprofit OCSC aims to become the premier steak cook-off event in America, while promoting and serving the Tulsa area. Attendees are invited to purchase tickets for
a 16-ounce steak dinner, which helps support OCSC and their partner projects. In the past, the OCSC has partnered with organizations such as Iron Gate, New Hope, Rebuilding Together Tulsa and the Tulsa Food Bank. This year, OCSC has partnered with Our Garden Project and the Awesome Pretzel Project. Through their work with Our Garden Project, OCSC has helped establish over 40,000
over 3,500 people, this year’s event will transform the Deco District’s backyard into a familyfriendly cook-off with all the fixings. Throughout the day and evening, the OCSC offers great food and entertainment. Two stages will provide live music, including an evening set from Steve Ham and Jambalaya Jass. A car and motorcycle show will fill the streets surrounding Trinity Episcopal Church (6th and Cincinnati), along with vendors and cook-off contestants. Families can look forward to lots of giant inflatables, as well as the Grillin’ with Kids competition open to young cooks aged 8 to 16. Turn in times for competitors are at 1 p.m. for the first round, and 4 p.m. for the top ten. Food will be prevalent throughout the event, but the main dinner lines open at 5:30 p.m. Winners are announced at 7 p.m., with cash prizes totaling over $6,000, in addition to bragging rights. Contestants travel from all over to compete in the Oklahoma Championship Steak Cook-off. “Last year, we had teams from Wyoming, Illinois, Texas and other states,” recalls Tripp Haggard, executive director of OCSC. Many other cook-off competitions are held in small
square feet of community gardens in the Tulsa area, and intends to see even more growth in the future. The Awesome Pretzel Project, an initiative of Guy Fieri’s Cooking With Kids organization, provides culinary and entrepreneurial experience for youths. This broad collaboration has helped OCSC make a positive impact in Tulsa and beyond. With an expected attendance of

towns, and a lot of the travelers remark how much fun they have in Tulsa, looking up at the downtown buildings while they grill. The scene is unique for Tulsans as well – it’s not every day the Deco District grills up thousands of steaks in a single afternoon. “If you drive by on the freeway about noon and look over, it’s going to look like something is on fire,” laughs Haggard. “One year, we heard that someone had called 911, thinking there was a fire downtown because of all the smoke from the grills.” Don’t miss out on this opportunity to support great causes while enjoying a fun day of food with your family. The Oklahoma Championship Steak Cook-off runs all day on August 24. Sponsors, volunteers and contestants can register online. TTurn Back the Hands of Time BA Med Spa & Weight Loss Center introduces the "Hand Lift." By Lorrie Ward It is common for people to develop noticeable sun damage on their hands as they age, and

you're uncomfortable with the way your hands look, BA Med Spa & Weight Loss Center offers a solution with the introduction of the "Hand Lift." “Nothing is more telling of a woman’s age than her hands, and they age sooner due to only being protected by a very thin, delicate layer of skin as well as constant sun exposure and other environmental elements,” says Malissa Spacek of BA Med Spa & Weight Loss Center. “At BA Med Spa, we have developed a very comprehensive treatment plan that consists of a multi-pronged approach.” The BA Med Spa Hand Lift is for a patient who has sun damage or volume loss or both. According to Dr. James Campbell, "Initially when the patient comes in we will assess the hands and develop a treatment plan that can be done that day or on a second appointment if need be. After the assessment the hands can be numbed topically. Typically the protocol is to start with an IPL (intense pulse light) on the back of the hands to treat hyperpigmentation and any superficial vascularity issues. Next, dermal fillers

The foundation of the center is assisting people in reaching their optimum, healthy weight by helping them change their eating and exercise habits and, if needed, by adding hormone replacement therapy. All procedures are performed by BA Med Spa & Weight Loss Center’s highly trained staff and are medically supervised. Staff members include Monica Stubblefield, R.N., and Amy Golden, B.S.N. will be administered by cannula to correct volume loss, and finally, the hands will receive a pixel treatment to stimulate collagen and thicken the skin. The results are excellent and will last for years with regular maintenance every one to two years.” The BA Med Spa Hand Lift is a recent addition to the menu at BA Med Spa, and positive results are already being reported. “I was very embarrassed about the backs of my hands – they appeared to belong to someone much older than me,” one patient relates. “I had no idea I could actually do something about it; even though there are tons of creams and other products, they didn’t help much. It was as if they were too little, too late.” The patient visited BA Med Spa and after her free initial consultation, decided to undergo the BA Med Spa Hand Lift. “I can’t believe how great my hands look now,” she says. “The difference is night and day.” BA Med Spa & Weight Loss Center is dedicated to helping people look and feel

NNot Just Any Knee Doc Patient Judy Bates raves about her orthopedic surgeon Dr. LaButti, who performed her life-changing knee replacement operation.
By Lorrie Ward When Judy Bates of Chelsea, Okla. had Dr. LaButti perform a replacement on her right knee, she had two main goals – to walk without a limp and to walk up and down stairs normally. “For years, I had to take one stair at a time, and my job requires a lot of walking,” says Judy, who works as a customer service representative at the Cherokee Casino in Ramona. Dr. LaButti was recommended to Judy by co-workers who had gone to the orthopedic surgeon with various problems and had achieved great results. Judy had experienced knee problems for decades, after being in gymnastics in high school and experiencing many injuries, and then a major injury to her knee when she was 16. “I have been on crutches too many times to count,” Judy relates. “I was a hairdresser for 30 years, and I can’t tell you how many times I had to go to work on crutches.” Getting around in recent years had become so difficult for her that she was prescribed medication for the pain. Judy knew she needed surgery but didn’t want to be operated on by the doctor she was seeing at the

After hearing about Dr. LaButti at work, she saw his ad in the newspaper one day. Then the next day, she heard a radio advertisement, as well as read a story about one of his patients. “I figured this was a divine message!” she says with a laugh.
Judy made an appointment with Dr. LaButti and was impressed with his professionalism and attention to details. “He was very honest with me about the procedure and what to expect,” she says. “He told me I would have about six weeks of

pain, by the ninth week I would be glad I did it, and by the twelfth week I would be back to work.” Judy was amazed at the truth of Dr. LaButti’s words and at her recovery. At ten weeks, she and her husband took a trip to North Carolina to see their son and his
family. While they were there, she walked up a three-quarter mile hill in a mountainous area and relates, “My knee did not give me any pain at all.” The group also visited the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown, and Judy was able to enjoy every minute of it. “I climbed up and down every ladder they had, from bridge to engine room, all 15 decks,” she recalls. “And then we went in the submarine and did the same thing.” Judy has returned to work in good health, but she feels that with her history of injuries, her other knee will probably eventually have to be replaced as well. She is not worried, however. “I will go straight back to Dr. LaButti when the time comes,” she says. “He is so very knowledgeable – he gives you confidence from the very beginning.”

Teach Kids about Money with Hands-On Approach Financially Fit is a column published by RCB Bank to help you gain knowledge on all things financial. Fitness guides – RCB Bank professionals in the field – offer ideas to help you strengthen your money sense, customize savings training, and provide quick and easy action plans to start whipping your money into shape.
By Ashley D. Wood It’s never too early to start teaching your children about money, how to earn it, how to save it and how to spend it wisely. You can begin by providing kids with a visual, hands-on money-saving experience. One way for kids of any age to learn about saving money is by setting an example at home, according to Amber Holloway, RCB Bank employee and mother of two boys, ages six and seven, who are learning to save money. “If your children see you saving money, then they are more likely to be excited about saving themselves,” said Holloway of Inola. “At our house, we have a change jar that sits in a central location. Our kids see us adding our spare change and extra dollars to it and watch it grow.” To provide your children with a more personal experience, give them their own piggy banks and let them fill it with the money they receive from birthday gifts, allowances or other reasons, said Holloway. “When my kids’ banks are full or even semi-full, we go through them together and count the money to see how much they have,” she said. “My kids love this part because this is when they get to decide how much they are going to put into their savings
account and how much they are going to spend on a toy or whatever else they may want. It has also helped my kids learn about how money works, because they know they have a certain amount of money to buy things, and if they don’t have enough, then they have to search to find something else in their price range or choose to save their money.” Letting your children actively manage their money will help strengthen their money sense. Take a trip to the bank and, with your help, let your kids open up their own checking or savings accounts like the RCB Bank Kids Club accounts. Only $20 is required to open a Kids Club account and there is no minimum balance necessary. Kids can earn 0.10% APY* with a Kids Club savings account, but they are limited to the number of transfers they can make to their savings accounts each month. Kids Club checking accounts have unlimited transfers but do not earn interest. Kids Club members receive a backpack of goodies when they open their account and a quarterly newsletter with their bank statement that includes money-wise tips, games and other kid-friendly information as well
as a chance for them to enter drawings and win prizes throughout the year. Each time you visit the bank, let your children fill out their own deposit slips and take them to the teller. When their account statements (and yours) arrive, sit down as a family and balance the registers together. “As a child, you benefit from all the fun perks while at the same time learning how to save and manage your money for the present and future,” Holloway said. “As a parent, you benefit by helping your child learn this important step in life.” Make it personal. Get creative. Keep it fun. Teaching kids about money when they’re young will help prepare them to be financially fit adults. Parents can sign up their children in RCB Bank’s Kids Club at any one of its 33 branches across Oklahoma and into Kansas. Find a location nearest you at www.RCBbank.com. For more information about RCB Bank’s Kids Club, call 855-Bank-RCB or visit your local RCB Bank to speak with a New Accounts Representative. *Kids Club Savings Account:* Annual Percentage Yield (APY) is accurate as of July 1, 2013 and may change at any time. together, rather than in competition with one another. As agents and brokers work together to bring in additional sales and agents and expand business, more and more win-win partnerships are created. So, while traditionally-structured companies feature agents who end up living from sale to sale, EXIT Realty diversifies revenue streams and empowers agents to focus on quality service, sales and professional relationships. This revenue sharing also affords agents the freedom to take time off, or even retire when the time is right, while still earning income. Retirement has always been a blind spot in the real estate industry, forcing many agents and brokers to explore their own approaches and yielding inconsistent and often disappointing results. EXIT Realty takes a novel approach to this common challenge. When an agent retires, the bonuses earned as sponsors transition to seven percent, but continue just as before. So, while all the agents they previously sponsored continue to sell, the sponsor continues to draw bonuses, ensuring a much more stable source of revenue. With traditional agencies, when an agent stops selling, so does the income. At the core of all of this, EXIT Realty provides fantastic training opportunities. Ms. Perez – who has 20 years’ experience in the industry and has facilitated countless training and continuing education classes – was skeptical, at first, about these training sessions. However, when EXIT’s head executive team was present for training sessions, she realized
EXIT Realty Announces Open Call for Real Estate Agents
EXIT Realty brings a new opportunity for real estate agents and brokers in the Tulsa area. By Christopher Davis Sally Perez and Rena McBee, co-owners of EXIT Realty Connexx, are on the forefront of a paradigm shift in the real estate market, and they are inviting likeminded agents to join them. For decades, real estate agents have found themselves in a career that is vulnerable to office politics and the ebb and flow of housing markets. EXIT Realty – an international real estate company – provides a solution that affords agents and brokers a support sys-
tem, an opportunity for yearround financial stability and a plan for retirement. Several key features of EXIT Realty set it apart from traditional real estate companies. First, the pay and commission structure is adjusted to encourage stronger relationships amongst colleagues and a more diverse source of income. Second, indepth training programs are offered to suit the needs of every career stage. Finally, EXIT Realty

EXIT Realty adjusts agent pay and commissions in a way that retains the independence and motivation for agents, but also motivates teamwork and support throughout the network. This is accomplished by the unique approach to recruitment and “sponsoring” of agents. “The model is similar to the music and insurance industries,” explains Sally Perez, managing broker at EXIT Realty Connexx in Tulsa. Essentially, an agent or broker that recruits a new agent becomes that agent’s “sponsor.” Sponsors are motivated to support other agents because they earn a 10 percent bonus of each sale from each agent they bring into the fold – which does not come out of the agent’s commission. While traditional companies often retain a significant percentage of an agent’s commission for each sale, EXIT Realty divides portions of the company’s percentage to include the agent’s sponsor. This incentivizes sponsors to support their colleagues and fosters an ever-growing network of agents who work

quickly how different the company’s approach was. “In all my years in this business, I cannot think of another company where there is direct involvement and care from such a high level.” Even today, having established the Tulsa office over a year ago, Perez and her partner, Rena McBee (Broker Associate and CEO) know that training and support are just a phone call away. EXIT’s new approach to real estate ensures that good agents become great agents. As the real estate industry deals with the growing pains of this new millennium, it makes sense that the “old ways” are called into question. With a comprehensive structure that creates a supportive, collaborative team that is enabled to rely on revenue streams beyond the simple sale, agents and brokers can ditch the sell-or-sink mentality and focus on what matters most – quality, teamwork and financial security. Are you ready to answer the open call for agents and move into a more secure chapter of your life? Contact Sally Perez and Rena McBee to learn how you can become part of the new era of real estate with EXIT Realty.

FFeel Good About How You Look Find fun, unique back-to-school clothes and more at Twisted Soul Sisters in Bixby.
By Lorrie Ward In honor of back-to-school days in August, Twisted Soul Sisters in Bixby will introduce great themed clothing and accessory items for local schools including Bixby, Broken Arrow, Union, and Jenks. Owners Kelly Corey and Marti Coleman thought, what could be better than having clients and their daughters
model unique and beautiful items from throughout the store? “We want to promote individualism, encouraging young ladies to dress for success as they go back to school,” says Kelly Corey. “We feel that part of being a girl is feeling good about how you look.” Kelly and Marti pride

themselves not only on the products in their store, but on creating a true shopping experience. They felt like they missed out last year on helping clients to create back-to-school memories, so they got an early start this year, hosting fashion shoots for clients and their daughters over the last two weeks of July so that their advertisements and Facebook features would reflect this. But even though the photo shoot promoted local school spirit, Kelly is sure to mention that Twisted Soul Sisters reaches far beyond the Tulsa area all year long. “People come here from all over,” she notes. “They come from Texas, Missouri, and Arkansas to find out they don’t call us Twisted for nothing!” As you twist and wind your way through the store, you are sure to stumble on all kinds of treasures. Twisted Soul Sisters carries several popular clothing lines, including Dear John, LA Idol, Vocal, Urban Mango, Double Zero, Niki Viki, Old Gringos, and Corral Boots. In addition to representing local public school systems, Twisted Soul Sisters hosts collegiate line products throughout the sports
season. “We carry a line of comic based Styrofoam and other fun products for tailgate parties, which are very popular around here during the fall,” says Kelly. For the cookout that often goes hand in hand with the tailgate party, Twisted Soul Sisters has recently started carrying “Super Shit” seasonings, which features everything from “Cow Shit” for beef and “Chicken Shit” for chicken to “Hot Shit” and “Dip Shit” for sauces and dips. “This stuff is extremely popular,” says Kelly. “We can hardly keep it on the shelves.” Another new product line that has already proven its popularity at Twisted Soul Sisters is the You Smell line of lotions. “This is a higher grade lotion with especially nice scents, such as Lavender Lemon Cake,” says Kelly, who points out that as some people are already doing early Christmas shopping. “This makes a great gift.” In August, Twisted Soul Sisters will also begin carrying Mud Pie household accessories, with wine glasses, wine bags, tea towels, and hostess sets that make wonderful gifts as well. Even though Twisted Soul Sisters is full of fun and popular
items, it is the unique foundation of the store that makes the experience there so special. “Our main focus is creating repurposed, one-of-akind jewelry pieces,” Kelly points out. “People can bring in pieces of vintage or antique jewelry they don’t know what to do with, like necklaces or clip-on earrings from their mother or grandmother that have been sitting in the jewelry box, and we can create unique bracelets and necklaces from them.” “Our goal is to dress you in that item that ‘wows’ everyone,” says Kelly. “The item that makes people ask, ‘Where did you get that?” If you would like to make this year’s back-to-school shopping season an experience to savor rather than a chore to be endured, be sure to visit Twisted Soul Sisters at 152nd and Memorial, where individualism isn’t just encouraged, but is celebrated every day.

Where Pizza Gets Personal behind the counter make topping decisions a breeze. As customers make their way to the counter, they can view all the fresh ingredients for toppings and ask questions as their pizza is made right in front of them. The ordering process is not only no-mess and no-stress, but it is fast, too. Pizzas are usually finished baking within minutes. “By the time you get your drink filled, you turn around and your pizza is ready,” says Sean. As a husband and father, Sean knows the value of an easy, affordable, positive dining experience. The establishment he and his staff have put together is ideal for families. RV Dealership Setting the Standard continued from page 1 he worked for another area RV dealer. “We’ve worked together so long,” said Tina, “that we function as a team.” Tina currently supervises a sales staff of six and a business development center, led by Marvin Johnson. “Marvin takes all incoming sales calls and Internet leads and is the first contact a potential customer has with Bob Hurley RV. He is the first impression made for our company,” says Tina. Marvin is on the job every day of the week, even on his days off. Tina is rightfully proud of each person in her department. “They have varying personalities, talents and skills, and we do our best to pair the right sales person with each potential customer. You can buy the same products we carry from another dealer, but you can’t buy our people or the great attitude and commitment each has for serving customers.” When Bob Hurley RV interviews an applicant for a management or sales position, the first interview is with the individual. If there is mutual interest, a second interview is then scheduled along with the person’s spouse. “It’s so important to know that each employee not only wants to be employed with us, but that their spouse also wants them to work here,” said Tina. It’s obvious when talking with Tina Campbell that she is imbued with a great work ethic, which she contributes to her parents and grandparents. “Our sales staff feels that our hearts have to be in the making of memories for our customers,” said Tina. “We are actually selling ‘memory boxes’ that will be filled with good times to be cherished for a lifetime.” Since the store’s opening in January,
the technicians at Bob Hurley RV have done all their work outside – in rain, hail, snow and heat. “Our techs are some of the best in the industry, and they’ve done their work without complaining,” said Kim. In early July, the company’s new service shop was completed and opened. It contains 14 inside work bays and 24 outside bays. A total of 38 RVs can receive service at any given time. Currently Bob Hurley RV has 10 service technicians with more coming on board each week, according to Kim. The service department provides anything your RV might need including insurance repairs, body damage, roof repair and replacement, and side wall repair and replacement. They can also update or add appliances to the inside of your RV camper or trailer. “We work on all brands,” says Kim, “and popular upgrades often include awnings, satellite dishes, air conditioning units and hitches.” Bob Hurley RV sales and parts departments are open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. RV service is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Family Owned and Operated Is the Foundation for Marc Miller Buick GMC Marc’s father, Ernie. He’s spent the past 20 years as a Parts or Service Manager for various dealerships in Arkansas and Tulsa. “I’m really excited to be back with Marc Miller,” said D.L. “It just seems like home.” If you haven’t yet met D.L., you’ll find that he has an outgoing personality and genuinely likes people. He grew up in Tulsa and relates well with his service staff and customers. “I’ve been in the automotive business all my life,” says D.L., “and can’t imagine doing anything else.” D.L.’s first job after graduating from the Lemley Campus in Auto Mechanics was with the Service Department of a local dealership. When D.L. later expressed a desire to move into another department, his boss told him, “No. I want you to stay here and one day run a service department yourself.” It was a nice compliment,
good advice and training, and his boss helped him learn the ropes that set D.L.’s career path. D.L. quickly learned that a good work ethic was paramount to success in whatever field one pursues. D.L. has three Service Advisors who have an accumulated total of 61 years with Miller Buick GMC. “They not only know their business,” says D.L., but they obviously relate extremely well with our valued customers. Our Advisors and highly qualified GM Certified Service Technicians make up the Marc Miller Buick GMC service staff.” D.L. says the entire service team wants to do what’s right and do what’s fair with each customer who pulls onto the service drive. “We treat our customers the same way we expect to be treated when we do business with others.” Each member of the Miller service team constantly undergoes GMC Factory
Training including effective management through ASE Certification. And D.L. says GMC is always available for consultation on difficult repair issues. “They will even send a factory specialist out to assist us if we need it,” explained D.L., “but we’ve always managed to fix the issue before it got that far.” D.L. says it is reassuring to know that factory expertise is available and someone is always willing to help whenever and however they can. You have a standing invitation to come in and meet D.L. When you do, be sure to visit the remodeled and redesigned Customer Lounge. SSupport Tulsa Greek Festival and Celebrate in Style “Opa!” – Join Tulsa celebrities for an evening of Greek fare with flair at VIP Night. By Christopher Davis Tonya Van Zandt Boone, chair of VIP Night, invites business and private donors to mark their calendars for Sunday, September 15 for a special night to honor supporters of the 53rd annual Tulsa Greek Festival. VIP Night supports Tulsa Greek Festival, the oldest and longest-running ethnic festival in Tulsa. Hosted by Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, the festival is well known as a three-day celebration of all things Greek. Greek cuisine and jewelry, music and dancing, kids’ activities, and more will fill the weekend of September 19-21. The Tulsa Greek Festival is a nonprofit organization that supports a variety of initiatives, partnering with John 3:16, Special Olympics, Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless, Iron Gate Community and many others. This year, 10 percent of the proceeds from VIP Night will also support Camp Agape NW – an organization that provides camp experiences for kids with cancer and their
families. “Camp Agape acknowledges that families sacrifice a great deal, too, and it is important to support everyone during such a difficult time,” explains Tonya, who has been involved with the Tulsa Greek Festival for over 20 years. “I am very pleased to be able to help support such a wonderful project this year, and we are excited that this year’s VIP Night will build on the success of last year.” The 2013 VIP Night promises to be exciting, indeed. Bringing a formal dining experience together with the fun and excitement of a Greek menu, the evening has even more in store for sponsors and donors than last year. Guests will enjoy an evening of Greek music, dancing, drink and food, including saganaki – a fried cheese dish that is flambéed to shouts of “Opa!” Tonya and organizers have been busy with finishing touches and final details, and are excited about some of the surprises in
store this year. An auction will round out the fundraiser, featuring a week in Santa Fe, a trip to hunt elk in New Mexico, and a fly fishing vacation in Montana. And, building upon celebrity appearances at last year’s VIP Night, this year’s event will feature celebrity tables. A limited number of premium seats are available, so guests may reserve a seat to share a table with Tulsa celebrities. This year’s appearances include KTUL’s Kristin Dickerson and former mayor Kathy Taylor, and more are being added as September schedules come into focus. If all of this sounds like a great night out, then hurry to reserve your seats, as organizers do anticipate the event selling out. Amazing Greek food and wine, dancing and song, jubilant cheers of “Opa!” filling the air, opportunities to bid on lavish getaways and more – all while rubbing elbows with Tulsa’s elite and supporting the oldest ethnic festival around – what could be better? There are a variety of

Blocks to a Successful BBuilding Soccer Future Tulsa Nationals Academy trains young soccer players to succeed. By Sheryl Sowell As a parent, have you ever been confused about what choices to make for your children? There are so many things to consider when raising children, from what foods to eat to what sports to play. Once you make the decision to put your child in soccer, where do you start? The appropriate beginning is with recreational soccer to see if this is a sport suited for your child. As with any sport, for long-
term success the player has to possess the love and desire to stick with it. Academy soccer is a great next option for your young 5- to 10-year-old player. Academy is a developmental concept bridging the gap between recreational and competitive play. This may not be for every player but is designed for those who love soccer, have the desire, passion and commitment to train, and who

Do your homework; check out all available options so you can make an informed decision as to the right fit for your child.” Tulsa Nationals is one of the most successful clubs in Oklahoma since it was founded in 1995 on the principles of developing proper skills, etiquette and gamesmanship to local area players. Tulsa Nationals has had multiple state champions and tournament titles since its inception. They have had many teams playing in the Oklahoma Premier League (OPL) and consistently have teams advance in State Cup tournaments each year. A large percentage of the seniors receive college scholarships. Tulsa Nationals also provides its own in-house scholarship program to graduating seniors who meet certain criteria. Tulsa Nationals has one of the strongest coaching staffs in the region. This experience, coupled with coaches who instill in their players sportsmanship, integrity, leadership, teamwork as well as the necessary skills, makes Tulsa Nationals a great fit for those who may want to continue on to play competitive soccer. Tulsa Nationals Soccer Club Founder Victor Moreland was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and played professional soccer for 22 years, winning many national

Emphasis is on developing the complete player in all four pillars of the game, including technical, tactical, physical and psychological components. Tulsa Nationals is the competitive branch of Union Soccer Club. “Our Academy program focuses on player development and providing players with the best possible training,” says Academy Director Greg Wilson. “We want them to reach goals and achieve success at the highest level they can attain. The key to success is player retention and individual player development, as opposed to the ‘team forming’ model that may exclude players who are way too young to have developed certain skill sets.” The focus is primarily on player improvement and not winning. Academy promotes fair play and fun, and downplays the emphasis of winning and competition. Players are placed on teams with same age-like skill, but players may be moved up to offer additional challenge. “There are many soccer clubs to choose from; that is why at Tulsa Nationals we take your trust in us to educate your child in the game of soccer seriously, while at the same time making it a fun, child-centered experience,” says Wilson. “We feel that the best way to make an educated decision about the right Academy or Competitive team
titles. Victor played for the Northern Ireland team as well as the Tulsa Roughnecks, Dallas Sidekicks, Wichita Wings and the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers. He was inducted into the Oklahoma Soccer Association Hall of Fame in 2012. Tulsa Nationals Academy Director Greg Wilson has over 12 years coaching and administrative experience. As an experienced coach, he has enjoyed many 1st place league finishes and many championship tournament finishes. He currently coaches both Academy and Competitive soccer teams as well as oversees all operations for the Academy. Tulsa Nationals Soccer Academy is accepting players now for the fall season. “We would like to invite you to bring your child out to a regular team practice or to one of our drop-in skills camps to learn more about our club and the opportunities available,” said Wilson. Skills camps will be held at USC Soccer Complex (3801 E. 136th E. Ave., Tulsa) every Friday night at 6 p.m. through August. Cost is only $5 per session.

M More Than a Tile Store
Tile by Tony – building relationships with customers and going above expectations.
By Carol Beck-Round Tony Sementi believes in “under promising and over delivering” to his customers. Maybe that’s why his business, Tile by Tony, has grown into one of the area’s largest kitchen and bath remodeling businesses since opening in 1982. Sementi, whose background began with a three-year construction apprenticeship in Fort Worth, Texas, grew up working with his hands. “My dad was an engineer,” he says, “and I was always building something.” Sementi’s reputation for highquality work and customer service has earned his business the highest rating at Angie’s List. “I believe it – Angie’s List is a much more honest assessment from customers than other online review sites,” he adds. When Sementi started his business, tile was his mainstay. “There was a niche for tile at the time and for quality work,” he says. However, within a few years he began to diversify, but the name stuck. Initially after expanding, the business focused on bathroom remodels, moving into kitchen remodeling later. What sets Tile by Tony apart from similar businesses – besides Sementi’s quality work – is the fact that he has 12 employees on staff.
“Because I have a plumber, electrician, sheet rocker, painter, carpenter, and a granite and tile crew on staff, we can get in quickly and get the job done,” he adds. “While some remodelers have to line up an electrician or a plumber and then wait for them to show up, I can count on having my crew there when I need them. I can schedule a job in the sequence it needs to be done and get it finished in a timely fashion.” In addition to tile, the showroom at 1875 N. Hwy. 66 offers a variety of carpet, hardwood floors, wood laminate flooring, glass shower doors, mirrors, granite countertops, sinks, tubs and showers as well as custom cabinetry from which to choose. “We pretty much do it all and we do it well,” says Sementi. “My crew has been with me for years and they are the best.” Sementi and his crew take pride in their work. “Reputation is everything,” he says. “If you ask around for referrals, people tell us that our name continually comes up. We pride ourselves on that, and we bend over backwards for people.” Sementi, who supervises each job, initially visits with clients to get their vision for the project. He then shares what he envisions with
them and with his crew. “They are an incredibly talented group,” he says. “I am really hands on,” he adds, “but I don’t micromanage my crew. I am involved in the scheduling and making sure the materials arrive on time. Basically, I steer the ship. I am there to provide direction. They make it happen.” He continues, “I’ve always had a customer service attitude and a desire to please people. We do high-end work and if the customer is not 100 percent satisfied, we will make it right.” The business will also do house additions. Recently, they completed a sunroom on a 25year-old house. “They wanted the addition to look like it had been there from day one,” he explains. “It was a challenge because the house’s exterior was rock. We had to locate the matching rock, which we were able to do by finding a house that was being torn down. It was an exact match and turned out really good.” While most of Sementi’s business is in Tulsa, Owasso, Glenpool and the Claremore area, his reputation for customer service and quality work have landed jobs for the company in Bartlesville, Okmulgee and Muskogee. “We have a huge
