EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT Theodore Camacho Readiness NCO at Airman and Family Readiness Center “I am originally from Guam. I’ve been in the Air Force for 20 years. Throughout my time in the military, I have been a Vehicle Operator, a Medical Laboratory Technician, a Tech school instructor, and now the Readiness NCO/Air Force Aid Officer. As the Readiness NCO, it is my job to ensure members are ready to perform for the mission. When members deploy, I provide them with information to help ease the deployment process. I also ensure their families that are left behind are contacted monthly and taken care of. The thing I enjoy most about the job is the look of relief from members when I am able to help alleviate an emergency financial situation via Air Force Aid assistance.”

February’s Fantastic Feats and Where to Find —J. K. ROFLing Them. This Month at a Glance We think it is important that our youth use not only their minds, but their bodies to learn. Touch, manipulation, and exercise all help youth to grow. Children at the youth center will be able to experience different textures through touch during our clay sculpting and painting club activities. Our Lego club, Makers Space invention kits, and robotics lessons use the manipulation of objects to help make various abstract concepts more concrete. We love to watch the youth play with these activities through guided instruction, and with free play. You should see some of the Lego houses these children have built!!! And we are also continuing with our yoga and cheer clubs to promote physical activity, choreography, and to use as a coping tool for those days when you just can’t shake the grumpy off.
kindness matters This month, the SAC will be encouraging our youth to practice acts of kindness. Children often feel that their voices are small and go unheard, but we want them to realize the impact they can have on their peers and family. A helping hand, or even a small expression of gratitude can turn someone’s day from bummer to bright! We ask that parents join us in this by talking about it with their children and role-modeling extra kindness. We will be having our Kindness Matters Valentines party on Friday, Feb 14th at 1600. Parents welcome!
Youth Recognition
Khaleesi was chosen as our student of the month! All throughout January, the counselors recognized Khaleesi for her time spent reading and participating in the lesson plans that we featured. Her enthusiasm is wonderful to witness. We are so very proud of her and her drive to learn more!
Youth of the Month Juliette was chosen as our youth of the month. This January, she was very kind and caring towards others, helped tremendously with classroom clean up, and set a great example for others around her! We appreciate her all around awesomeness!
