NONPROFIT SCHOLARSHIP Executive MBA Program: A Unique Opportunity for Nonprofit Leaders
Are you a nonprofit executive or a senior leader with a desire to take your nonprofit organization to the next level? An Executive MBA from Vanderbilt can help you achieve your goals and make a difference in the world. Vanderbilt offers an annual Nonprofit Scholarship, in partnership with the Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM), that will cover 100% of your tuition expenses so you can focus on what’s most important - honing your business skills to better serve our community. Executives or senior staff members of qualified 501(c)3 organizations who have demonstrated commitment to serving in the nonprofit sector are eligible to apply.

Facts about the Scholarship: n The scholarship award is valued at over $100,000.* n Candidates must meet all
Executive MBA admissions requirements** and be admitted to be considered for the scholarship. n Candidates from all geographic
regions will be considered. n Candidates do not have to be a
member of the CNM to apply. The recipient will be given a membership free of charge. n The deadline is March
31.

Candidates for the Nonprofit Scholarship must apply and be admitted to the Executive MBA program. Admissions requirements include: n At least 5 years of strong employment history and
management expertise, with commitment to serving the nonprofit sector n Undergraduate transcripts (and graduate transcripts, if applicable) n GMAT or Executive Assessment (EA) Score n Career Essay n Two professional recommendations n Résumé n Personal interview n A completed application, submitted by the scholarship deadline March 31

Vice President of Development, Fund for the Arts At the time Abby Shue was awarded the EMBA scholarship, she was the vice president of the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts in Louisville, an arts organization that hosts more than 1,000 events per year. “Vanderbilt’s investment in building the capacity of leaders in the nonprofit sector is an incredible gift. The skills I developed at Owen have helped me to become a stronger manager, communicator and problem-solver, allowing me to better steward the 20,000 donors at the Fund for the Arts and the impact-driven investments we make in over 100 local arts and culture organizations.” Michael McSurdy, Executive MBA ‘10
President and CEO, Family and Children’s Service At the time Michael McSurdy was awarded the scholarship, he was the vice president of program services for the Oasis Center. He is now the CEO of Family and Children’s Service, which has been providing counseling and child well-being services across the state of Tennessee since 1943. Previously he served as the director of foster care services for the Tennessee Department of Child Services.
