EMPLOYMENT REPORT

TO F R I E N D S A N D A S S O C I AT ES O F VA N D E R B I LT B U S I N ES S : I am pleased to present the Vanderbilt MBA Employment Report of the graduating Class of 2020 and the internship Class of 2021. Despite the impacts of COVID-19, the outcomes were very strong. By the end of our reporting period, 3 months post-graduation, 96 percent of the employment-seeking graduates had secured a full-time offer, with 90 percent accepting an offer. The average base salary for the Class of 2020 is $126,137, a 6 percent increase from the Class of 2019’s average base salary. The graduating class accepted employment with 87 unique companies in a variety of industries and job functions across the United States. For the 9th year in a row, 100% of internship-seeking first-year MBA students received and accepted an offer for a summer internship. Even though our employment outcomes were strong, the spring and summer did bring challenges for both our graduates and first-year MBAs, as well as our employer partners, in dealing with the impact of the global pandemic. An overwhelming majority of our employers honored their full-time and internship offers. However, due to health and safety concerns, some full-time employment start dates were delayed to the fall, while many graduates began their new employment virtually over the summer. Likewise, most summer internships transitioned to virtual projects and were shorter in duration than the normal 10-12 week summer internships. We are extremely grateful to our employer partners for their concern, care, and flexibility during this unprecedented time. We are also so thankful to have alumni that continue to provide mentorship and guidance to current students. Many alums participated in programming during the spring and fall to offer guidance and advice in managing through a period of economic uncertainty. As we begin the new academic year, we continue to feel the impact of the pandemic. While we still have a robust calendar of employer engagement, the events continue to be virtual for the time being. As we have adapted to the current reality, the CMC team is committed to connecting our talented students to potential employers, and we look forward to when we are able to host in-person events on the Vanderbilt campus again.

Sincerely,

Emily Anderson Senior Director, Career Management Center Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management
