EMPLOYMENT REPORT

TO F R I E N D S A N D A S S O C I AT ES O F VA N D E R B I LT B U S I N ES S : I am excited to share with you the employment outcomes for the MBA Class of 2021 and internships for the MBA Class of 2022. It was another challenging year for students, faculty, and staff as we continued to navigate disruption and uncertainty from the pandemic. However, I am so pleased to share with you that despite the challenges, Vanderbilt MBA students navigated the landscape with determination and grit and landed in amazing roles that will allow them to make a positive impact across a variety of industries. Achieving a career goal by transitioning industries, job functions, or geographies can be one of the primary reasons a student will embark on an MBA degree. Many of our students have made such a career transition this year, and below are a few of the highlights from the 20202021 academic year. n

Employment rates were very strong. By graduation in mid-May, 88% of the Class of 2021 had received a full-time offer of employment, and 84% had accepted an offer. Fifty-one percent of accepted full-time offers came from a conversion of a summer internship. At 3 months post-graduation, 97% of the Class of 2021 had received a full-time offer, with 96% of the class reporting they had accepted an employment offer.

n

Compensation remains strong across industries and MBA job functions. Median annual base salary for MBA graduates remains at $125,000, with a mean of $125,130. Signing/Starting bonuses were up slightly from the 2020 MBA report by 2.4%, for a mean of $27,651 and a median of $26,250.

n

100% of first years seeking a summer internship secured a role. Once again, the first-year MBA class was 100% successful in securing internships at 117 different companies. Mean internship compensation was $8,106 per month, up 4.5% from the 2020 report.

In this time of change and adaptation, our employer partners continue to value Vanderbilt MBA graduates for their leadership and collaboration. We continue to be grateful to our employer partners, as well as to our alumni that remain engaged with the MBA program and are willing to participate in career programming to share insight and guidance. As we begin the 2021-2022 academic year, we look forward to remaining engaged with you all throughout the next year. Sincerely,

Emily Anderson Senior Director, Career Management Center Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management
