EMPLOYMENT REPORT
F R I E N D S A N D A S S O C I AT ES O F VA N D E R B I LT B U S I N ES S : We are pleased to share the employment outcomes for the Vanderbilt Master of Science in Finance Class of 2022. One-hundred percent of the class had an offer by graduation, which is even more notable considering that the Class of 2022 had the largest number of job-seeking students (75) in the program’s history. Making the most of a strong job market: In the spring of 2021, job offers for the MSF Class of 2021 spiked compared to previous years, and this trend of accelerated hiring continued through the summer and fall of 2021. By the end of December 2021, roughly 5 months before graduation, a higher percentage of MSFs had an offer (83%) than any previous year. Compensation trended upward as well. The average base salary for the Class of 2022 climbed to $91,377 (from $84,585 the year before), as did the median base salary to $95,000 (from $85,000 the year before). Expanding regions, roles, and job sources: More than 50% of the Class of 2022 accepted positions in the Midwest and Northeast, up from 36% two years ago. The Class of 2022 saw a record number of students (28) accepting roles in the New York metro area. There was also an increase in the number of students heading into roles in real estate investments and development, representing 13% of the class. Additionally, the program saw an increase in the number of students securing employment through online job postings (both internal and external to Owen), when compared to other sources of accepted job offers. This shift was likely a result of decreased in-person employer recruiting due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Changes at Owen: In March of 2022, Ginny Ling became the new Career Management Center MS Finance lead coach. Additionally, Emma Duncliffe recently took over the CMC Employer Relations lead for the consulting and healthcare industries. Heather Yockey remains the CMC Employer Relations lead for all other industries, including financial services. Brook Meissner provides additional coaching support to the MSF program and other specialized masters programs. Finally, 2022 marks 17 years for the Vanderbilt MS Finance program. It is exciting to see how the program has developed over that period thanks to incredible contributions by students, staff, faculty, and alumni. These impressive outcomes would not be possible without the support of alumni from across Owen and Vanderbilt, and we are grateful for their partnership. We invite you to come visit Owen and see our newly renovated space. With gratitude, Brook Meissner Director of Specialized Masters Coaching | Career Management Center Vanderbilt University | Owen Graduate School of Management
Ginny Ling Associate Director & MSF Coaching Lead | Career Management Center Vanderbilt University | Owen Graduate School of Management
