Two features of the program are designed to develop your personal skills as well as enhance your ability to work in teams. Apply what you learn immediately in the office on Monday.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM Our Leadership Development Program (LDP) is designed to help you get a Vanderbilt Executive Edge—that is, an improved ability to create the new and different and implement successfully with and through people. At its core, it’s improving your ability to influence. Influencing others requires self-awareness, contextual intelligence and learning agility, which is the ability to take new learning and experiences and apply them to future situations.

Individual Development

Workshops You are encouraged to attend engaging and interactive Friday evening workshops dedicated to the topic of leadership.

Group Work Your C-Team is a “living lab” for learning and practicing leadership skills.

It requires self-management and putting into practice different behaviors that improve your effectiveness. LDP offers several components to support you in gaining your Vanderbilt Executive Edge.

You will be supported as you build a leadership development plan tailored to your needs.

Coaching You can call upon the one-to-one coaching services of our LDP team and, as needed, the professional executive coaches we retain.

Assessment and Insights You will have access to several best-of-class diagnostic tools used by Fortune 500 companies, such as the Hogan Leadership Assessment.

two-year c-team performance coaching… culminating in a Capstone Strategy Project. Since most successful executives tackle problems in teams, we believe business students should too. That’s why here, like nowhere else, you’ll complete a Capstone Strategy Project as part of a functional “C-Team” of peers. Each team is carefully designed to emulate a “C-Suite (CEO, CFO or CAO, COO, CMO, CIO and/ or CHRO)” of executives including a balance of backgrounds and expertise, just like a typical organization. You will work with a client company and present your work as part of a formal presentation. As a result, you’ll widen

your perspective and learn from your peers, not just your professors. The Executive MBA students work with the same C-Team throughout the two years of the program, fostering a strong team dynamic. The Americas MBA students split off in year two to join an international project comprised of members from all four partner schools: FIA in Brazil, Simon Fraser University in Canada, ITAM in Mexico and Vanderbilt University in the United States. 01

Curriculum Year One All Executive MBA students—including those pursuing the Americas MBA track—share the same curriculum and classroom setting. Our full-credit 60-hour curriculum begins with a rigorous one-week residency in New Harmony, Indiana—intentionally remote from the everyday demands of personal and professional life. Become fully immersed in the program and get to know the cross-functional team of professional peers who will be your C-Team. Upon completion of the one-week residency, you will continue the core foundation courses on alternating Saturdays.

“My undergrad is in Business Management and I had learned a great deal about management philosophies and strategy. I needed to supplement my current knowledge of business with a formal education heavy in quantitative analysis with subjects like accounting and corporate finance. Vanderbilt’s curriculum was a perfect match.” Joe Plowman, EVP, Mission Linen Supply EMBA 2014

“The most important skill I have learned is being able to intuitively combine strategy and operations with financial decision-making.”
