VANDERBILT MASTER OF MARKETING

2020

EMPLOYMENT REPORT

F R I E N D S A N D A S S O C I AT ES , I am pleased to present the Vanderbilt Master of Marketing Employment Report for the Class of 2020. Finishing the program’s fourth year, a total of 92 percent of the class reported receiving a full-time or internship offer at the end of reporting, 6 months post-graduation. These strong results are a testament to the determination, hard work, and exceptional character of the students who were part of the 2020 Master of Marketing graduating class. Strong outcomes show resiliency in challenging circumstances: The unexpected challenge of the global pandemic—and the subsequent uncertainty in the job marketplace—meant that many of the traditional springtime roles the Class of 2020 would have pursued were put on hold. Rather than use it as an excuse to take a pause, students rose to the occasion by securing internship opportunities that could pave the way for full-time roles and strategically networked to secure harder-to-find opportunities. Without complaint, they worked smarter and harder, finding creative ways to adapt and pivot and ultimately securing roles at a diverse set of top companies and agencies. Building on a solid foundation: From CPG companies to digital marketing agencies to national retailers, and healthcare providers, Vanderbilt Master of Marketing students from the Class of 2020 brought their marketing expertise to a wide range of organizations. Many roles align with the functional paths we have seen students successfully pursuing since the program’s inception, with a high number of roles in client services and digital marketing, while a smaller group was successful in their pursuit of roles in more niche industries. While approximately half of the class secured roles in the South, other graduates secured opportunities across the Midwest, Southwest, and West, further adding to a diversely employed Class of 2020. It was an honor to support this group of students. Their attitudes and adaptability in the face of a challenging spring highlighted their resiliency and work ethic. The students’ care for each other underscored the strong, collaborative culture they created, and their support for the program— already clear in their effort to connect with and support the new class—is abundantly evident. The Class of 2020 took advantage of the program’s solid career foundation and paved new paths for current and future students. We look forward to supporting continued career success for the Vanderbilt Master of Marketing program. Sincerely,

Amanda Fend Senior Associate Director, Career Management Center Vanderbilt University | Owen Graduate School of Management
