Dress well: Follow The Rules by - Jemi Ekunkunbor Looking good it is said is good business. It is also a serious business. This is because people are often addressed as they are dressed. While it matters to some how much is invested on looking good, for others, looking good is not a function of cost. Rather, this school of thought believe that looking good is a function of personal style which very often, borders on simplicity and well co-ordinated colour scheme. A good observer would notice that fashion designers themselves who are the architect of good clothes subscribe to simplicity. +RZ ZRXOG \RX OLNH WR EH VHHQ DQG SHUFHLYHG WKLV 1HZ <HDU" 'RQ·W EH D fashion victim. To dress well, ffollow these basic rules.
Over dressing Over dressing comes in different forms and ends up making the individual look too loud and too bogus. It becomes even worse if the person is not coordinated in appearance and attitude. There is no doubt that dressing too much especially when the occasion does not call for it could put one off. Over dressing is no no especially for plus size women because then everything EHFRPHV PDJQLÀHG LQ WKH H\HV RI the beholder. It is not exactly clear why one would choose to overdress. As said earlier, the cost of looking good should not be too expensive. However, because there are some people who actually can afford to spend any amount, they buy so many things; some not necessary for particular outings. As one grows in life and status, the drive to impress others should be shoved aside for the drive for class and style. After all, less is more they say. In case you turn up at a party looking overdressed, this is what you should do. Tell the host you are coming from an important function and you had to drop by to explain that you will be coming late. Then go home and change into something simple and return to join other guests at the party. ANITA EIRES

Unsuited clothes People wear so many things that do not suit them. Often, it seems that we forget that our bodies are different. Those who are used to buying clothes know the standard sizes that are available. Why a size 16 person would decide to wear a size 12 remains a mystery and a deliberate attempt at presenting a poor fashion and style sense. The truth is that people never really notice your size unless your clothes are too small or too big. Unfortunately, it is fat people who wear unsuited clothes. A person on the big side wearing something that is obviously so tight would bulge in certain places. 3LFWXUH D ZRPDQ ZHDULQJ D QLFH RXWÀW with a pouch in front, it would spoil the look of the dress and puts one off. Keep the day make up as toned down as possible or as transparent as possible. the heavier make up should be reserved for night functions. 1. Peanut butter Keep in mind that eating almond butter, peanut butter or any other nut butter late in the evening can lead to fast weight gain, especially if you do it daily. When you eat nut butter every evening continuously you can gain up to 25 pounds each time. Never eat nut butter before bedtime! It’s better to drink a big cup of milk or unsweetened almond milk instead. You will be calmer and sleep better because of the calcium, which will also save you from fatigue. Usually, I add some cinnamon to my unsweetened almond milk; it helps me to sleep better. 2. Ice cream It’s true that ice cream has actually D GRXEOH H̆HFW )LUVW RI DOO it can be the best food to comfort you but still the worst one to eat when going to sleep. I can not understand sometimes how such a good thing can be so harmful? If you don’t know, ice cream contains a small amount of fat and is also rich in sugar that will really disrupt your sleep. The taste is undoubtedly comforting, but the results are absolutely awful.. 3. Alcohol I think it’s a false statement that if you drink a lot of alcohol you will have a good sleep. If it were WUXH VXFK VOHHS ZRXOG KDYH D GURZV\ DQG OHWKDUJLF H̆HFW and wouldn’t be regenerative and refreshing. Additionally, alcohol can lead to dehydration and disrupt
the restorative sleep functions. That’s why, next time you are dreaming about a longlasting and great sleep, do not drink before going to bed. Also, consuming alcohol prior to sleep, whether its wine, vodka or champagne will have a big impact on the way your skin looks and feels and it can also aggravate snoring. So remember, next time you look forward to a long-lasting and deep sleep, avoid drinking before bed.
4.Candy Bars & Chocolate Another thing to avoid
eating is candy bars & chocolates. As desirable as it may be, it is better to avoid this yummy snack before sleep. According to the recent research, 7 out of 10 people who eat things like candy bars when going to bed more often had a nightmare that night. The theory is that a high amount of sugar produces “more nightmarish brain waves.â€? So, think smart before preferring your deep night sleep to a temptation of candies! As unfortunate as it is, chocolate doesn’t just have a higher sugar and fat content WKDQ RWKHU ODWH QLJKW VQDFNV EXW LW DOVR FRQWDLQV FD̆HLQH On top of that, it is loaded with stimulants like theobromine, which is known for making your heart race a little. As a result, chocolate can keep you up at night and cause sleep deprivation. Those who don’t sleep enough tend to VX̆HU IURP LQFUHDVHG levels of cortisol, which can encourage muscle tissue breakdown.
5.Red meat The problem is that red meat is loaded with proteins and fats, and it takes longer to digest than any other foods. Thus it will keep your body busy breaking down food the whole night, which can cause discomfort and even cramping. In order to avoid a night ÂżOOHG ZLWK WXUQLQJ DQG WZLVWLQJ LWÂśV LPSRUWDQW WR NHHS DOO of your systems at peace. That means restraining yourself from eating red meat right before bed. 6. Celery I know what
you are thinking Celery? Yeah right! As surprising as it is, celery should be avoided before bed if you are aiming for a deep and uninterrupted sleep. This is very apt. Anything can happen at any time. This is life and that is just the way it is. Ask yourself a few tough questions: What would happen to you and your family, if you lost your job today? What if you discovered you had an illness that could not be treated in Nigeria and you would have to go out of town? What if the bread winner in your home suddenly develops an illness and is required to stay at home for a while? What is an Emergency Fund? According to Investopedia, an emergency fund is an account that is used to set aside funds to be used in an emergency, such as a loss of a job, an illness or a major expense. Most emergency funds are highly liquid which allows quick access to funds which is vital in emergency situations. An emergency fund could either be short-term or long-term. 100 UNSUNG HEROINES PROJECT LAUNCHED By - Oscar Ochiogu
The Unsung Heroine project, dedicated to celebrating the achievements of women in our society was launched recently in Lagos. The event, held at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, provided the opportunity for women in the society who have constantly been ignored and neglected to gain recognition for their achievements and giant strides. The project which is a year-long campaign, will see the organizers visit various states of the Federation, through villages and communities, in search of women doing exceptionally well in their various communities. Visionary and project coordinator of the project; Bayo Omoboriowo said “Nigerian women have exceptional stories. These women are fabrics of society today, without whom we won’t be seated here. I was amazed when I met a woman who from the little profits she makes from the sale of bottled drinks, has been able to train her kids in schools outside the country.” Omoboriowo noted that somewhere down the road, in the archives of history, the events of today will be referred to as one of the events of our time that shaped womanhood. The event was attended by Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili and other important dignitaries.
