...Hate or love him, Gen. Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida is a disarming personality. Appearing not as tall as we thought, his larger-than-life personae makes him a giant, Fatima Garba and I conclude. Although, the general was prepared to answer any questions, we stuck to our script – not wanting to bridge any uncharted course.

When Fatima Garba called to say the interview with former military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (rtd.) was a done deal and we had to be at his Victoria Island, Lagos residence by morning, I was sure she was pulling a wooly. But she wasn’t. As we were being frisked at the entrance, I observed the stern looking security details, positioned to ensure nothing untoward happens to the charismatic general. By the time he bade us good bye, we had (all five us) become fans. It‘s easy to see why so many who know him admire him, and those who are afar see him as ‘Maradona’ or the ‘evil genius’. Although we had only twenty minutes, it was enough to erase all the negatives. Left behind is a desire to understand why certain things happened and, to present the general as a truly charismatic and likeable leader. I fear, twenty minutes may not be enough for you. Have a great week!

WORK OUT A Good body can go a long way, it grabs the attention of the people around you and you will be physically fit as well.

2

Have your clothes tailored to fit your body This is a big one, as no matter what your shape is, the right fit makes everything look so much better.

5

Stand up straight It has been said that posture is important. You create a sense of confidence and pride when standing tall, showing everyone you are secure in the man you are.

6

Brush and floss your teeth daily It doesn’t matter if your teeth are not perfectly straight and white, but please keep them clean. It is rather unappealing to talk to someone and see built up plaque or food stuck between their teeth.

3

SHAVE This not only applies to your face but other parts of your body too, for men that have hair on their back, it is a huge turnoff for most women. If you do sport a beard, keep it well trimmed.

4

Remember less is more when it comes to fragrance It’s all right to smell good, but everyone doesn’t have to smell it. Fragrance is such a personal preference, and you really must find the one that works best for you. Just remember not to bathe in it.

7

8

Sleep well get about 8-10 hours sleep daily...it will keep you fresh and reduce the chances of dark circles.

Checkered print

A classic checker is a staple print piece in all wardrobes. When done in a less traditional check, checkered pants really have the ability to make a statement. Select a brightly colored palette to play with this season and have fun with wearing prominent print pants

Graphic prints

Graphic prints are cool and edgy without being in your face. Although these prints are prominent, graphic splash prints offer a good base and starting point to work your print pant trend around. You can pair your graphic print pant with solid basics or pull out colors in the print to create a prominent look that’s polished and put together.

Twenty FOUR hrs

When Pastor Ituah Ighodalo left the Redeemed Christian Church of God a few years ago, he described the period between when he left and the birth of his new church, Trinity House, as a period when his life felt “void and empty”. That emptiness has since been filled. Last Sunday in Lagos, Trinity House was formerly dedicated in its new location on Victoria Island, Lagos. In this interview, the amiable pastor talks about a typical day in his life, from sunrise to sunset.

Brocade

Brocade is one of the hottest and most popular prints now. This season is all about luxe, opulent glamour and brocade fits just that. The subtle sheen and metallic threading in brocade prints adds just enough hint of sparkle and shine for both daytime and nighttime looks. When worn in a rich color palette of reds, rusty oranges and metallic golds and silvers, brocade gets a festive update that’s suitable for all holiday occasions.

The move from emptiness to where you are now, what was is it like? Initially, it was completely empty. We had to leave our old church rather suddenly and unexpectedly. For a little season, we didn’t know where to worship. But after a while, we began to pray to God to ask God what to do. After a while, He said He has given us the Bible, the sword, why don’t we use it? So, He started to minister to us and show us a direction in which we should go. Through prayers, He gave us the name Trinity House – the house where the Trinity would dwell. So, on the 18th day of July, 2010, at the Civic Centre, Lagos, we opened Trinity House and it’s been one step after the other; God directing us bit by bit, block by block, sand by sand and gravel by gravel, until He led us here.

Scarf print

A scarf print pant is reminiscent of silk prints usually seen on scarves that are super colourful, playful and chic. Scarf prints are a luxurious and sophisticated way to wear prints for especially when worn in rich materials like silk. Pair with a collared shirt.

Florals offer a vivid color boost to drab muted tones of the season. For a fresh new way to wear, opt for floral print pants with a watercolor wash of bright hues and bold palettes for a unique style statement that will make you standout in a crowd.

Pastor Ituah Ighodalo...

What is the typical day of a pastor like, especially one that pastors a large congregation like Trinity House? This pastor is not a typical pastor because I am still a professional. I still run an accounting practice called SIO. So, my life is divided between my pastoral work and NGOs I run. I am chairman of 14 NGOs, doing various things; building boreholes, giving scholarships and looking after prostitutes. Eden’s Fields looks after the sick, Lydia Grace looks after prostitutes, Courage Education Foundation gives out scholarship, Steven Adams does teacher

training revolution in Lagos State. We have a foundation for “area boys”, we have a foundation for blind people; we also have a centre in palm craft. We have a foundation for the youth and we have a foundation for old people and another for children. We have two motherless babies’ homes and a host of others like that. So I run these 14 NGOs. I’m on the board and chairman of about seven companies and I run this church. So, I am not the typical pastor. When does your day start and what are the activities you carry out? I usually wake up between 4a.m.-5a.m. and I begin to pray. That is the first thing I do. I pray alone, solidly, till about 6.30a.m.-7a.m. From 7a.m., I do Bible study until about 9a.m. Then from 9a.m., my wife and I pray briefly and after that, we talk, we chat. I ask how the day will go and after that I have my bath and then I am off to my professional work.

I usually don’t have breakfast. I take one or two glasses of water. That is what I take in the morning if I am not fasting. I get to my office between 9.30a.m. and 10a.m. and I work solidly till about 6p.m. From 6.30p.m-7p.m., I begin to counsel various people from church. I hold church meetings; sometimes, this can go on until about 12 midnight and then I go home. When I get home, the first thing I do is have a shower and pray for about 30 minutes or an hour, depending. Then, I come out to have dinner then talk to my wife. Sometimes, I can watch a movie or read the newspapers till about 1a.m. Then I reply some of the text messages I couldn’t reply during the day. So, there are a lot of people who find me replying their texts messages at about 2a.m. I sleep at about 3a.m. and by 4a.m.-5a.m., I am up again. This is my daily routine. If I sleep early, it will be about 11p.m. and that is sleeping really early. But then, from time to time, I take 2-3days off to travel – just to be alone with God and also to rest. That is how my typical day goes.

REPORTAGE

Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, rtd - On Leadership By - Fatima Garba

How have you coping since her Excellency’s passage? I really appreciate this question. It has not been as easy as one would expect. We stayed together for almost 40 years but God, in his infinite mercy, brought about her death. So, quite frankly, it is a big loss to me personally and I think that I have been coping. What lesson has life taught you as you age? First of all, I am presently 72 years old. I think back through my life. As a young man growing up, I went to school and did all basic things in life and I looked forward to becoming something within the society. I chose the military profession and went into military. I had a lot of military training and then immediately after that I settled down and put in what we had learnt and experienced into action for the face of the country. Some of us were fortunate; we were growing up in military hospitals during the turbulent days and stability period in the country. Basically, when Nigeria was going through a very turbulent period, riots and all that, which resulted to the Civil War. It was a period we saw and has continued to help us and teach us a lot of things. What makes you happy? I want to be at peace with myself and sit back and know that, at the end of it all, I’ve lived a fulfilled and successful life.

8

/ April 28, 2013

What occupies your time now? I deliberately decided to retire to my village in Niger State. I went back to my roots because, during my public service, all those I grew up with were not with me so I figured it was time to go back to them to relive our lives and reconnect. And, I found it quiet interesting. What is a typical day like for you? I wake up to say my morning prayers which is about 5a.m. Sometimes, I go back to sleep then get to the office about 11a.m., attend to my people who need my attention; then, try to keep up to date with the events of the nation and outside the country. Then, people come around and we discuss issues and things that might need to be done and how I can be of help. What is your views on the state of the nation now? IFirst of all, I am old enough to realize that all developing countries go through exactly what we are presently facing. Nigeria is not more than 52 years as an independent nation. Secondly, things are very dynamic in change and we confront issues as they come. So, I think what is happening at the moment is part of development in the country and we will reach a time when we will be able to conduct a free and fair election, for example. We once had a free and fair election, which your

administration annulled When I talk about the issue of free and fair elections, during my time, we had a military government ,but now it is a different ball game altogether. It’s a democratic period which is a good thing. The only way we can make it free and fair is to make sure that the electorate is well educated; they are well informed, they participate in about anything to do with them and they have freedom of choice. I think the problem has been the elite but if you allow the ordinary man to think; you educate him, you talk to him and he knows what the issues are. I think that is the next step that will get us to free and fair elections. It is believed that leadership is the problem with Nigeria, do you agree? I think the elite provide leadership. I strongly believe so. Leadership is not something thrown from the sky. I gave an example about the governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, at the ‘Vanguard Personality Award’. As a leader, you should be able to interact with the people you are leading. You should allow them to ask (questions) and query you about certain issues. That is how a leader emerges. For instance, if a leader promises that when he is elected, he’ll provide pipe-borne water to A and he gets elected, he fulfils his promise. Therefore, there is a connection between the leader and the followership and any gap should April 28, 2013 /

There is what we call the Northern Elders Committee. There were about five of us who decided we wanted to compete but we came to an agreement that all five of us should not contest but just one of us should. It was all by consensus and we agreed that whoever emerges, we will support in accordance to what the elders suggested.

What did you plan to do if you were to get into office again? As a military president, there were a lot of good things we did and I would have improved on those things; those we did not do, I would have worked on them and those we did badly, I would have abandoned.

Hello my dear readers, today’s a 2 part edition on pimples, and causes of it, and next week the 2nd part would focus on natural remedies to treat and prevent pimples. Pimples are normal skin condition that many people suffer from. Pimples are also known as spots or zits, and occur when the sebaceous glands, which are located at the base of hair follicles, become overactive. The most vulnerable parts of the body are the face, back, chest and shoulders. Pimples are palpable signs of acne, especially when a breakout occurs. The scientific name for pimple is Acne Vulgaris. Sebum that is produced by the sebaceous glad keeps the skin and the hair on it moist. Excessive sebum secretion by the sebaceous glands is the main reason for pimple eruptions.

You left people guessing, when you called on Tambuwal to go for higher office. Did you mean the presidency? Because I understand the media so well and I knew I will be misrepresented, I made sure what I said I will always defend. When I said Tambuwal should go for a higher office, I know he is a member of the House of Representatives. If he decides to go to the Senate tomorrow, it is still a higher office. Is Nigeria on the brink? I don’t believe so. At the Vanguard event, I said there is a marriage and it has lasted for 100years. During the course of this marriage, there has been a lot of misunderstandings and issues here and there. All the leaders have to tried to bring about measures that will make us a united country. For example, General Gowon knew the issue of the minority who needed states of their own. He created 12 states and we kept on breeding from there. Murtala Mohammed made it 19 states. I came and we eventually came to 36 states. Now, every one of us has a state he can call his own state so, everything that could cause friction has been addressed. After 100 years, we have achieved a lot as Nigerians and should struggle to keep the nation afloat. So what should be done? I think if the ordinary person is thoroughly informed and educated, there will be no problem. I will give you an example. Before the merger in 1914, people were trading from Baga up in the north – all the way to Lagos or anywhere in the south west or south east. A Hausa man going to Lagos, a Yoruba man going to the north never had issues and it was never a problem and (they) went about their business peacefully. Another incident was in Onitsha Town Council where they had a lot of Nupe people who were members of the council. In Benue, Ibrahim Imam from Maiduguri represented a constituency in Benue. So, if we were able to accept ourselves at that time, what in the name of God is the problem? We can do it now. Educate the masses and you will see wonders. Give them the right to ask you questions; to make you account – you led us for 4 years, tell us what you have done, if not we will sack you. Is there any end to giving amnesty? Giving pardon is allowed in any government in the world but with conditions which should be strictly adhered to and imposed. It is a part of governance to consider these things and for a government to be under pressure to release this and that or forgive certain issues. Indeed, anywhere in the world – like in Palestine,

TYPES OF PIMPLES • Whiteheads also known as a closed comedo. These are very small and remain under the skin, appearing as a small, flesh-colored papules. • Blackheads also known as an open comedo. These are clearly visible; they are black and appear on the surface of the skin. Some people mistakenly believe they are caused by dirt, because of their color, and scrub their faces vigorously - this does not help and may irritate the skin and cause other problems. • Papules these are small, solid, rounded bumps that rise from the skin. The bumps are often pink.

for a person to be released from prison. At the end of the day, it is up to the government of the day to decide that it is the correct thing to do so the country can move forward. What qualities must a Nigerian leader posses to be effective? He has to be patient, knowledgeable, have a very pleasant disposition and a good relationship with the people. In my religion and maybe the same in yours, we are all the same, especially in the presence of God. So, why will one feel he is better than another? Therefore, if you are able to develop this attitude, people will respect you more. Do you miss being in office? I have never missed it one day. Even when I was in office, the only time I recognized I was the president was when I stepped into the office. Once I am out, I leave everything behind. What is your every day style? The only time I am out of my traditional attire, which is the babariga and hula (cap), is when I am going to the gym or swimming, which I do about 3 or 4 times a week. And, I dress this way in accordance with my age. Quote of the day? I am still optimistic about this country and there is hope. Nigerians will rather stay together than break up so I am very optimistic about the future of the country.

• Pustules these are pimples full of pus. They are clearly visible on the surface of the skin. The base is red and the pus is on the top.

As a leader, you should be able to interact with the people you are leading. You should allow them to ask (questions) and query you about certain issues. That is how a leader emerges.

• Nodules these are morphologically similar (similar structure) to papules, but larger. They can be painful and are embedded deep in the skin. • Cysts these are clearly visible on the surface of the skin. They are filled with pus and are usually painful. Cysts commonly cause scars.

5 HIDDEN CAUSES OF PIMPLES 1. Dairy Dairy: According to a study published by the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, it was

found that boys who had two or more servings of milk a day were the most likely to have acne. Researchers believe this applies to older men, too. There was also an increased sebum production, the oily substance that can clog pores. Researchers aren’t sure why some people have this reaction while others are fine. Just one cup of milk can cause breakouts, an alternative if you break out frequently, would be almond milk. Try this for 2 months and see if it makes a difference. 2. Carbohydrates Researchers gave young men a face cleanser and assigned them to one of two 12-week diets: Either an eating plan high in carbohydrates, or one high in protein, vegetables, and whole grains. Though both groups saw a decrease in the number pimples, the high-protein subjects had double the drop. Meaning those with carbohydrates had more So if you find yourself in this category, I suggest you lay low on the sugar and switch to whole grains to be safe (solid advice for even smooth-skinned individuals). 3. Not Enough Omega-3s A 250 mg supplement of EPA (the kind of omega-3 found in sardines and anchovies) reduced the number of pimples in a study published in Lipids in Health and Disease. The total lesion count among five people dropped from 63 to 40 after 2 months, presumably

because of reduced inflammation, as another study by an independent researcher confirmed inflammatory chemicals increase the production of sebum. 4. Too Much Sun “Over several years, sun exposure may increase your skin’s oil production, which clogs your pores,” According to research. So my dear readers especially if fair-skinned, you only need 5 to 10 years living in a sunny climate as an adult to make you more susceptible to acne. So wear sun screen and don’t overdo staying out in the sun. 5. Stress Researchers believe that stress hormones can worsen acne. Certain steroid hormones, like glucocorticoids and adrenal androgens, are released during stress, and are known to cause breakouts by activating the oil gland and clogging your pores. A Stanford University study found that college students had more acne during exams, when they reported more stress. But could it be they ate more oily foods that produced more sebum during this period? That is food for thought I guess. For comments and questions please email terimendes@gmail. com, @terimendes. I would love to hear from you, till next week. - it’s ta ta for now! XOXO

TERI Speaks Good day, I read your column on Healthy Living (Top 13 foods that build the immune system- Part 1) on Allure Vanguard of 25th Nov, 2012. I really gained a lot from the write-up. However, I am more concerned about the Oysters which you said increases the killer cells that fight against cancer and it contains zinc supplement that have been shown to slow the growth of cancer. I would really appreciate if you could give me a list of foods that are rich in zinc content so that we can add to his diet to slow the spread of the cancer. I will also love to know more about Oyster as I have never seen nor ate it before. I will really appreciate your quick response. Thanks. AN.

Dear A.N, TThank you for writing in. The richest foods with zinc is oysters, they are sold in most seafood shops you may have to go to a fine seafood restaurant to be able to have it made to perfection. Other foods rich in zinc are: Toasted Wheat Germ. Packed in jars and sold toasted, wheat germ is great to sprinkle on top of any food. Try it on salads, rice, or steamed vegetables. Toasted wheat germ provides 17mg (112% DV) of zinc per 100g serving, Veal liver: also sold and served as liver pate (nice on toast) Dark chocolate, Lamb Peanuts and Crab. The above are good places to start from. Best wishes, Teri M.

be abridged. You wanted to contest for president, but changed your mind. Was it because of the groundswell of opposition against it? Not at all. There was no opposition. There is what we call the Northern Elders Committee. There were about five of us who decided we wanted to compete but we came to an agreement that all five of us should not contest but just one of us should. It was all by consensus and we agreed that whoever emerges, we will support in accordance to what the elders suggested.

As soon as I arrived the Airport, Esther Bassey and Ubong were there to receive me, and after that, I became royalty, Esther was to see to it that I had everything I needed to be comfortable enough to want to give my best at the recordings, and Ubong was available with the car to make sure I could go around town when I was not in my room or at the studio. It didn’t take long for me to see “ORDER” as I worked with these people. What I see so far is that Mo Abudu has gone all out for the best hands in the field to come and do this Job, and if you want to meet people from all over the continents of the world, you will find them working at Ebony Life TV. I also realized that if you are lazy, then Ebony Life TV is not the place for you to be, because all hands are on deck, and I really hope they can keep that up. These qualities were also the main reason she remained our friend through the years: her incredibly caring heart and way of completely going out of her way to sort you out if you ever were in need or in a bad spot. Ene would climb walls literally to help a friend in need and so we all accepted and never took seriously this peculiar quirk of hers. makeup was up to the occasion, and Oreka was there to ask us the questions in the most relaxed manner. She was always the star of every shoot. Just when I thought my shoot with LOVE LOUNGE SEASON ONE was coming to an end, I got a call from an old acquaintance who said she was in Calabar, and had been trying to reach me, so she can invite me over to do something for a reality show to be featured on Ebony Life TV, called “THE FATTENING ROOM”, and I told her I was actually in Calabar already working with Sandra Amadio. We scheduled an appointment and she had Pris, her production manager pick me up from where I was to the TINAPA LAKESIDE HOTEL LOUNGE, where I had a meeting with Pris and Heidi Uys, the creative contents director. I was flabbergasted when Heidi let me into what she was doing, and how I was to fit in. I looked at her and wondered where all the magic in her head came from, and couldn’t but admit that Mo had the best guys working for her. Why am I sharing this particular experience with you, when those of you that know me know how eventful my life can be? I believe it’s to let you know indeed that EVERYTHING YOU THINK YOU KNOW ABOUT AFRICA IS ABOUT TO CHANGE FOREVER, and it’s already happening from Nigeria, at TINAPA, Calabar, the base of Ebony Life TV. know Ene, so why are we sweating it?. Time is going ooo. Ene, this your move is getting jaded and predictable o, you really need to stop it and having said that, can we start going??!!! Fortunately, everyone agreed with me and moved sharply towards the exit, still yabbing Ene, who was apologizing profusely like she hadn’t done it deliberately....lol!. We all got to the party venue and made a fantastic entrance, to the delight of our hostess. In matching, exquisite Michael Kors dresses and matching royal blue, sky high fresh from the store Louboutins, diamond jewelry and all beautiful hair, we looked well dressed and prosperous, ‘beautiful people’ style. Perfect picture of the jet set, well maintained crowd that we liked to project at these events, even though we all had mainly serious, work and family focused outlooks in real life... Many people smiled at us as we all filed in to the hall and there was a palpable silence as most of us were recognized by our peers and others in there. The joy shown by the birthday girl and the attention she gave us was all very warm. We were all ushered to the best seats, right in the front, by the very genial but firm waiters. Having suitably made our grand entrance and amused at the success of it, we all settled down to start taking in our surroundings. Where is Ene? asked T, the tall, dark and lovely lady amongst us. Ahn ahn, that’s true, I said. Where is she? Gina (not real name), my friend the total chick started laughing. What is it? I asked; why are you laughing so hard? She wouldn’t, couldn’t speak. Just kept laughing and then pointed to a place waaay at the back of the hall. There sat Ene, at a table with strangers. Apparently, the waiters had been under instructions by the hostess who received us to seat us all at this particular area, but because we were all in the same outfit and she was not, they had politely but firmly ushered her to another seat, believing she was not with us and simply trying to ‘blend’. I couldn’t help it, I started laughing as well. We all did. Worst of all, she saw us all laughing. My heart wouldn’t take it, though. I got up to go get her and smiling equally firmly at the waiters, explained to them we were all together. As she held my hand thankfully, I whispered ‘just desserts. It’s good for you’ amusedly. I know, she whispered back. Never again!. I’m not doing this again. Yeah, right, I whispered back, just till the next aso ebi time!! Foie gras, anyone? Feedback to escapadesofstyle gmail.com

MAGIC OF EXERCISE Exercise is, to say the least, very important in our lives. Exercise a) b)

Fights fat Enhances immune functions

Whenever I read the words of Isaiah that say those who “wait on the Lord” shall “run and not be weary” and “walk and not faint”, I’m reminded of how naturally spiritual development and endurance exercise go together – Dr. Kenneth Cooper. Along with proper diet, regular exercise can help melt away unwanted extra pounds and enhance immunity. Studies have linked over-weight and obesity to suppressed immunity. In other words, carrying even a few to many pounds can leave you susceptible to infections. It also raises your risk of chronic illnesses such as heart disease and diabetes in part, because fat stored secretes inflammatory substances that injure internal organs as well as the linings of coronary arteries.

Most experts agree that a minimum of 30 to 60 minutes’ of moderate exercise, most days of the week – preferably every day, is necessary to lose weight and enhance immunity. Most people are not active enough to meet even the minimum standard for physical activity; only few people get enough exercise to realize any true health benefit. Yo-yo diet and frequent weight loss is not also good for your health. The more often you lose and then regain weight, the more it could affect your immunity. A research from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Centre in Seattle, USA, found a connection between frequent gains and losses of 10 or

more pounds and diminished activity of natural killer cells (NK cells), one of the primary defenders against viruses. If you weigh more than you should, modest weight loss can help improve your status (through nutrition and exercise). Researches have also determined that exercise – in conjunction with a diet that reduced daily calorie intake by 12.5 percent – led to an average weight loss of at least 10 percent over 6 months. The exercise and diet regimen also inhibited DNA fragmentation, a sign of free radical damage. The researchers concluded that such a regimen may protect against acute and chronic disease and possibly increase longevity. Cutting down calories is different from slimming by starving. When you slim down (by starving), you are more likely to get sick or come down with a cold or flu, but light and moderate aerobic exercise and resistance training appear to preserve immune function while you are cutting calories. Your immune cells are like policemen; when you are sedentary, they sit in their station (lymph tissue). Within minutes after you start exercising and for a few hours afterwards, they leave the station and patrol throughout your body. Exercise makes the immune system stronger. The longer and more consistent you exercise, the greater the benefits you will experience. If you continue exercising into your fifties, sixties, seventies or beyond, you will be significantly less likely to develop infectious or chronic illness such as heart disease, diabetes and certain cancers. You also will be less likely to become disabled. Apart from weight loss, exercise helps to maintain healthy bones, joints and muscles; it improves endurance, flexibility and energy level. It enhances mood and cognitive function. Princess Kathy is a certified nutrition and fitness consultant. Email: bodyperfectng@aol.com | http://body4jesus.blogspot.com

CUSTOMER COURTESIES: AN ATTITUDE NOT A DEPARTMENT ...CONTINUED FROM LAST WEEK

2. A customer entered an electric power distribution office and complained bitterly for having been over billed. She fumed and abused the staff that came to attend to her. The staff patiently listened to her, calmed her down and apologized for the situation. She further asked to be given few minutes to cross-check the meter billing on her computer system. Having done that, she realized the billing was actually accurate. She then politely asked the woman a few questions which made her discover the woman had recently procured an electric gas cooker, a deep freezer and a washing machine in addition to the electrical appliances she already had. She explained to the woman the volume of energy the appliances accumulate and sympathized with her for the inconveniences she would have making

the payment. The customer feeling pacified made the payment and went away satisfied. 3. A patient was booked for an injection in a hospital. Because he had a phobia for syringes, he refused to be administered an injection. The nurse however called him in and told him how miraculous his healing would be if he could allow her to carry on. The man then decided to give it a try. Still discussing, the nurse discovered the man was a Barcelona fan and started praising the creativity of Messi and how he was ever merciless with the goals. The next minute, the patient was asked to pull up his trousers because the injection had already been given. “That’s all?” the man asked. It was unbelievable to him that he felt no pain at all. These people do not have a section

in their customer service manual mandating employees should embody the soul of courtesy, which means they do not need the manual at all. Customer service is not nearly enough because it is about how you behave when someone else is watching. On the other hand, customer courtesy is how you behave because you have to live with yourself. The first impression of your company has a great impact on its profit. Remember that most customers’ initial contact with your business does

not necessarily involve speaking with an executive. When you make a legendary Client Service your goal, your good manners and courtesies will make your clients feel that their business is valued and appreciated, thus commanding loyalty, repeat business, as well as attract referrals from others. So, be the professional with a difference! Make Customer Courtesy your golden rule and experience unbeatable business advancement!!

First was Lillian Ekanem, then Dr Bassey Edet, Ariyike Akinbobola, Lanre Olusola and Kunle Soriyan. The shooting started, Sandra Amadio was in charge

Everyone avoided going out with her for this reason, but Ene has her redeeming qualities. Abeg, lets go, I said, above the din that had started over Ene’s disruption of our aso ebi moves. You all

makeup was up to the occasion, and Oreka was there to ask us the questions in the most relaxed manner. I see the world coming to Africa again, not for slaves this time around, but for EXPERTS who can help in every sphere of life. I see the world lobbying to do legitimate business with Africa, starting from Nigeria. I SEE DEVELOPMENT! I SEE AFRICA! know Ene, so why are we sweating it?.

Food and exercise are better than medicine; by becoming active and staying active throughout your life, you greatly reduce the risk of developing most degenerative diseases like diabetes, cancer and obesity as well as diseases associated with aging.

more pounds and diminished activity of natural killer cells (NK cells), one of the primary defenders against viruses.

The ceremony which held at the Glory Hall Cultural Centre Yenagoa, is designed to celebrate and honour filmmakers and other professionals in the industry across Africa and in the Diaspora. The event which drew a lot of crowd saw movie stars put their most stylish foot forward. From Ibinabo Fiberesima who looked pretty and every inch a diva in an embellished pink studded cut-out dress to Beverly Naya who proved looking good is a way of life in a glittering red floor length strapless dress. Hosted by Ghana’s Ama K. Abebrese, Nigeria’s Dakore Egbuson and drab comedian AY, who, swept by his egotistic nature, probably thought he was on AY show as he went on and on with his dry jokes that have been heard a million times. Not surprising when a colleague mentioned that his supposed jokes were actually stolen jokes of other notable comedians. While AY failed to keep the audience alive, ‘Funny Bone’ on the other hand brought the audience back to life with his hilarious jokes that saw them drooling for more. The AMAA which has come to be known as Africa’s most prestigious motion picture award ceremony saw the Nigerian film ‘Confusion Na Wa’ emerging champion, winning the prize for Best Film. Late Justus Esiri was awarded the post-humus trophy for Best Actor in a leading role while Gabriel Afolayan received the Supporting Actor nod. The event saw musical performances from Waje, enthralling choreography from South African dancers, Malawian musician and Nigeria’s Flavour who got the audience on their feet with his moves. As the event enters its 10th year come 2014, it remains clear that African films continue to serve as a link for Africans in the Diaspora to reconnect with their roots. For the President of AMAA, Peace AnyimOsigwe, 2013 has been an exiting year as the government of Malawi hosted the 9th edition of the AMAA Nominations in the capital city of Lilongwe.
