12 - 13 NATIVE & VOGUE: The Fashion, The Thrill, The Glamour!

It was a show to behold! The Native&Vogue Port Harcourt Fashion Week could have held in Paris, New York or London. It was spectacular. The designers, the runway, the models, the music and the clothes. Oh boy! The clothes. From Friday when the show opened to Sunday evening when the curtain closed, it was row upon row of stunning models sashaying to KLJK RFWDQH PXVLF IURP RQH à RXQFH à RDW\ DQG ÀWWHG ensemble to another. Sixty models (seven international), ten Port Harcourtbased designers and seven international designers all converged at the Aztech Arcum Centre. It was a surreal moment when Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi declared the shows open. Three days of non-stop fashion that culminated in the Allure Sytle Awards. We delivered. Neomatta, Bunor and Allure. The fashion week was world class! With barely six weeks to put it together, no stone was left unturned. The result of careful planning came to bare as the world of fashion berthed in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Will Port Harcourt remain the same? I doubt it. Neither will the fashion industry. Indeed, there is an international fashion week in Port Harcourt which, henceforth, will contribute its quota in the development of the industry and the resilient youth of Nigeria there. In the following pages, we have tried to capture the thrills of those three days‌ True, the shows were better experienced! Enjoy!

Powered by the Rivers State Government in collaboration with Allure Vanguard, Neo Mantra and Frank Osodi of Bunor Creazioni, the three-day fashion festival is part of the JRYHUQPHQW¡V GHVWLQDWLRQ EUDQG FDPSDLJQ launched in 2010, aimed at giving life to Port Harcourt and make it a destination brand to showcase the numerous possibilities that exist in the state.
