CALL FOR SELF-NOMINATIONS TO SERVE ON THE PROGRAMME ADVISORY COMMITTEE (PAC) OF THE RED UMBRELLA FUND

About the Red Umbrella Fund The Red Umbrella Fund is a global fund which aims to strengthen the sex workers’ rights movement across the world. The fund was established in 2012 and currently supports 21 sex worker-led organisation in 20 countries. The Red Umbrella Fund is guided by an International Steering Committee (ISC) of sex workers and donors who make the strategic and programmatic decisions of the fund. Advised by the Programme Advisory Committee (PAC), the ISC takes the final decision about the selection of grantees. The Red Umbrella Fund is hosted by Mama Cash, an international women’s fund. Day-to-day management is done by a small secretariat. For more information: www.redumbrellafund.org and www.facebook.com/redumbrellafund. PAC Recruitment 2013 The Red Umbrella Fund is looking for new members for its Programme Advisory Committee (PAC) to serve during the 2013 grantmaking process. PAC members review and select funding applications to the Red Umbrella Fund. The PAC has up to eleven members, the majority of which (80%) must be sex workers. Currently, the Red Umbrella Fund is looking to fill at least four positions. The PAC is open to applications from sex workers from all over the world. To ensure geographic diversity, we especially encourage applications from sex workers from the following regions: Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean. In addition, the PAC has one vacant position for an ally/activist who is not a sex worker (from any region). PAC membership is voluntary, unpaid and requires a high level of commitment during the review period. Candidates for PAC membership have to meet the following requirements: 1. Proficiency in English: ability to read and discuss funding proposals in English. 2. Availability to commit a substantial amount of time to review and score applications in September and October 2013. PAC members must be interested and prepared to read a high number of proposals in a relatively short period of time. An in-person meeting will be held 16-18 October in Amsterdam. All PAC members must be available to participate in this meeting (costs will be covered). 3. Affiliation with at least one sex worker-led group: You need to send us an endorsement for your self-nomination from a sex worker-led group together with this filled in self-nomination. 4. Internet: PAC participation requires regular email and Skype/phone contact. 5. Experience with or exposure to grantmaking processes are not required but will be considered an advantage. We will provide an orientation to the Red Umbrella Fund’s grantmaking processes to all PAC members and an exciting opportunity to contribute to the fund’s grantmaking to sex worker

groups around the world. Some feedback from other PAC members’ experiences: “It was difficult and rewarding.” “It's been very exciting and rewarding to be part of this amazing project.” “I felt very honored to be part of such an important team.” Red Umbrella Fund Programme Advisory Committee (PAC) Recruitment for the 2013 grantmaking process of the Red Umbrella Fund Self-Nomination Form Return this self-nomination form to Eva Cukier to eva@redumbrellafund.org by 28 July 2013.
