“a unique opportunity of a lifetime”
O
n January 6, 2010 my mother, Adele Chingee, was contacted via email asking if she could locate myself because I have been invited to apply to participate in The Vancouver 2010 Indigenous Youth Gathering program, so long as I meet the eligibility requirements. What does this mean? Why was I sought out personally? Who else is going? Why did these people
go through hoops trying to locate/contact me? Why do we have to sign confidential agreements? Something great has to come from this; things of this nature don’t happen all to often, if at all. Considering the above questions, I curiously completed my application the following day. Once I sent my application off, I was contacted immediately to iron out details that I wasn’t allowed
to share with my family, friends, co-workers, or anyone in general. We were given strict rules from the start that breach in confidentiality will result in immediate removal from the program; but still, what exactly is this program all about?
