FROM THE EDITOR ISSUE 9 |AUG 2018

Hey VapeFam So here we are in the West End of London at the Olympia, for the London Vape Show! It’s finally here and we’re excited. This is the second year for the London Vape Show and they’ve returned to Olympia London, the scene of the very first show last year. If you attended last year then you’ll be familiar with the show and if not, you’re in for a good time. The thing we love most about the London Vape Show is that vapers of all levels of experience can meet, explore and discover. If you’re a newbie vaper or haven’t started vaping yet, then this is the show for you! Not only are there some awesome giveaways but the guys from LVS have organised free starter kits supplied by the marvellous Aramax! If you wanna know more, read on, you’ll find all you need to know in our Starter Kit feature. We introduce you to the LVS reviewers, a bunch of truly knowledgeable, approachable and experienced vapers who will not only be judging the LVS awards but will also be on hand to answer your questions however complex or simple. If you’re one of the lucky ones to be gifted a starter kit, then these guys can help you get started. If you’ve never been to a vape expo before, we have given you a little guide to help you make the most of the show. Read our Newbie expo Goers Guide to plan your day and ensure you don’t miss out on anything. If you’re a vape show pro then you’ll find our What’s On piece to see what’s happening throughout the two days, when the giveaways are and when the award winners will be announced. We also take a look at the UKVIA who will be heading up the speaker’s corner. The UK Vaping Industry Association was formed in

2016 and has quickly established itself as the leading trade association for the vaping industry. Speakers corner, led by UKVIA board members, will also feature expert commentators, consumer representatives and academics to discuss the key issues facing the industry. Check out the Speaker’s Corner write up for more information on the UKVIA and the topics that will be discussed. You’ll find more information, from the LVS Awards to a behind the scenes chat with the shows organisers, and more! Vaping with Vic’s Victor Mullin talks to us about his new venture and we have news from around the industry. INNOVATION FOR THE EXPANDING VAPE GENERATION

S

ince vaping was first introduced into the UK in 2007, the market has grown dramatically and the sheer volume of different devices, liquids and components now available on the market is eye-watering. The category continues to benefit from an ever-growing body of evidence in support of vaping with positive endorsements from the likes of Public Health England, which most recently acknowledged that: “Vaping poses only a small fraction of the risks of smoking, and switching completely from smoking to vaping conveys substantial health benefits.” A new peer-reviewed study1 also shows that exhaled e-vapour product particles are actually liquid droplets that evaporate within seconds, adding further reassurance around the safety of e-vapour products.

In fact, the latest Public Health England report also highlights that: “vaping could be contributing to at

least 20,000 successful new smoking quits per year” highlighting a clear opportunity for vape stores to engage with consumers in terms of category education and advice to help them switch. As the reputation and scale of the category continues to grow, so too are consumer expectations of the vaping category. Long gone are the days of ‘cigalikes’ as tastes have shifted to new devices that benefit from new and improved technology and deliver cutting-edge vaping experiences, especially in terms of performance. Power often comes at a price and usually in the form of larger vape mod systems. Smaller devices with convenient form factors do exist, but they often fail to deliver the required performance. Having identified this gap in the market, we recently launched myblu, a next

generation ‘pod-mod’ system that’s ultra-accessible to both experienced vapers who are looking for a powerful, portable alternative to their main device, and those intrigued by the growing pod-mod category.

As well as being a highperformance vaporiser, which takes just 20 minutes to charge, myblu is also the first widely-available podmod device to feature Nicotine Salts which results in nicotine being absorbed into the body at a significantly more rapid rate than normal e-liquids. By delivering a sensation of satisfaction much closer to smoking a traditional cigarette, myblu Intense will appeal to adult smokers who are either looking to switch to vaping for the first time, or have perhaps tried vaping in the past and not been fully convinced.

As a business, we are committed to continually advancing the category through the development of new technologies and have also just announced the launch of our most powerful open-system yet, blu ACE. Featuring an adjustable airflow which allows vapers to tweak and personalise the way they inhale, this advanced system is able to generate bigger, smoother vapour than any other product in the blu portfolio. As well as the launch of two new cutting-edge devices and a flavour portfolio that will suit all vapers’ needs, blu has more plans in the pipeline. We’re particularly excited about our recent acquisition of Nerudia, a market-leading manufacturer of dynamic vape products and accessories. Thanks to these latest innovations, blu offers a strong range of high-quality devices designed to fulfil the needs of every kind of vaper. To find out more about the blu product portfolio, call 0800 0149 335 or visit www.blu.com/en/GB/e-cigs/myblu.

There are currently around three million vapers in the UK and it’s a market which is constantly expanding. A recent report from Public Health England revealed that vaping is at least 95% less harmful than smoking and has called for more support for smokers to switch to e-cigarettes.

A

fter months, and months of planning the London Vape Show is finally here, but it got us thinking about where it all started and what happens behind the scenes…we’re nosy like that! So we picked the organisers brains and here’s what he had to say. John, planning a show on such a large scale must take a lot of advanced planning, where do you start? Well, yes, preparaing for the show is a kind of ongoing process and it actually began in full force at last year’s show! If you think about it, it’s the perfect platform to start with, as we get to experience the situation on-hand and simultaneously prepare for the next year, adding and removing various aspects based on reactions from attendees and exhibitors. Trust me, you need a full year to work on show if you’re going to perfect everything from the year before. What are the major preparations, the main aspects that you need to work on? The venue is probably the biggy and with

11

the success of the location last year thankfully that box was already ticked. The next major is negotiating a weekend for the show to take place, a time that works for everyone to come together. Then it’s on to planning the overall theme of the show, there were several elements from last year which worked really well and were popular so once again we had good foundations to work with and a template to bring to this years show. So how did you decide on a theme for the show? Also, how important is the message ‘Stop Smoking, Start Vaping’? The message is really important for the show and in a way, it is also the most central part of it, the core of what the show is. We want to help people to stop smoking, and vaping offers a viable and healthier way to do that. Last year we ran a program where we gave people starter kits when they gave up their cigarettes along with a one-on-one advisory session from one of our VapeFindr experts. It was one of the most successful parts of the show. This year we’re going bigger and better. After many discussions we have partnered with Aramax as this year’s sponsor for the starter kit give away. The decision on the theme of the show is not a quick one; it is a long process that evolves with time. Over the year we travel the UK and Europe meeting people at vaping shows and expos and after numerous discussions and meetings, an idea for the theme is formed which is later discussed with our sponsors and stakeholders. Several partnerships are also formed in the same way as we meet new

people and exchange ideas. Gradually, a theme is formed which helps in guiding the entire show. This year, we met with UKVIA at their conference in London and agreed upon them sponsoring the Speakers Corner. Certain issues and concerns prevalent to the industry this year have also influenced the theme of the show. Everything has to tie together though, you need a coherent theme, and the issues around available information for smokers regarding vaping, are di-

rectly linked to the numbers making the switch. Where information is incorrect, misleading or simply not available, you see the uptake plateau. This is an issue that greatly concerns UKVIA and in turn, us too. Hence our decision to work with them and bring this issue to the speaker’s corner. How do you gather your team for the show? How important is it that they share the same values as you? Shared values are most certainly

important to any working relationship, but you generally find that within the vaping industry we are all working towards the same goal and the sense of community is strong. Saying that though, sometimes it is more about bringing the ‘right’ idea than the ‘same’ idea, this helps promote newer, more innovative ideas for the show. We are often approached by people to engage with the show and earlier this year I met Shaggy from VGOD in Italy and asked if VGOD would like to sponsor the trick competition to which he happily agreed. We have also added barbers, nail technicians and a tattoo artist to the lineup. The judges and reviewers are a huge part of our show and all of our reviewers are knowledgeable and reputable in their own right. The proof is in the pudding, you just have to check them out online. They certainly did a great job with last year’s starter kits and also judging the awards. They’re all coming back this year and we’re thrilled to have them on board. What is it like in the weeks and days leading up to the show? In two words, extremely busy! Everybody’s running around making the final arrangements and ensure everything

is on track. Luckily for us we have fantastic people on board, but then that takes us back to selecting who to work with in the first place. Just 4 weeks before the show things get serious and we meet the people from Olympia to run through everything from fire to safety to catering. We run last minute checks and alterations with almost every team from our booth builders to printers and staff members. Checking up last minute on the booths is extremely important because several exhibitors leave ordering furniture and other booth accessories to the last minute. It’s essential to have a team that is flexible in their approach and can deliver the best results quickly. We are certainly very lucky in that aspect. I think I can anticipate the answer to this question, but what’s it like on set up day? Ha! Well the day begins around 8 AM at the venue, the first thing is to meet the security and floor managers and from then on, it’s all systems go! From that point on you are faced with continuous questions of all kinds from contractors, exhibitors and even random queries from attendees. It is absolutely non-stop. You need to be well prepared and just know everything inside out, there’s no time to be nervous or confused, and you just have to do what you need to do. On the plus side it is just seamless when you are working with a professional team and

have spent months working hard to prepare. What time do the exhibitors start to arrive, is it really chaotic? Most exhibitors will start arriving from 8 AM, however, there are always a few ‘early birds’ waiting to get in first. The most complicated booth buildups are let in first as it takes time for them to set things up. We avoid chaos by carefully scheduling unloading and the security team monitor it strictly. During the day I roam around and talk to the exhibitors and there is always time to share a joke. What is it like on the Friday night when everything is set up and ready to go? The set-up day ends at 10 PM and I am the last to leave. It is certainly satisfying to walk around after everyone has left and just check for anything that might be a safety issue, a loose wire or things that have been left unattended. What is your role once Saturday hits? Saturday starts at 8 AM, just like Friday and there are always some last-minute issues to solve; I try to keep everyone happy. The doors open at 10 AM and the B2B visitors come in, the first two hours are reserved for them. We do this over the two days, followed by B2C from 12pm onwards. So how did the London Vape Show begin? What made you want to put on a

15

vape show? Running Vapefindr we spent most of our time travelling the world from one vape show to the next. We love meeting new people and experiencing new shows and different takes on vaping from different

countries. It gets you thinking about how you might put show on and then one though leads to another and so on. In January 2017, we made the decision after much research and planning that we would un-

that we got a really good response and soon work became a lot of fun. We met and re-connected with people we had met during other shows and all ideas came together to make LVS 2017 successful. It took us about 8 months to plan. How did the actual show go? Surprisingly (ha ha), everything went according to plan and overall, we were very pleased with the event. We also connected with new businesses, especially, with smaller companies who were attending their first vape show, like, Vapedodo. It was great to be able to provide some support to the smaller companies and give them a platform from which to grow and develop. It was during LVS 2017 itself, as I mentioned earlier, that we decided to go ahead with LVS 2018 and we began planning for a show that could be bigger and better.

dertake the London Vape Show. We haven’t looked back since! How did the process flow from deciding to do a show to holding the show? The preparations were frantic, and we had to work really hard but the best part was

16

What were the memorable highlights from 2017? Some of the major highlights were the awards, with some new comers such as Vapedodo and Eco Vape scooping up wins it was great to see them get recognition for their hard work. The starter kits were also a major highlight, and the sense of satisfaction you get from helping people to discover a way to stop smoking is massive. It was fantastic to hear stories of people who had given up smoking and made the switch to vaping after the show. londonvapeshow.com

VAPE MANUFACTURER

DOOZY VAPE CO,

SECURES NATIONAL DEAL WITH ASDA.

D

oozy Vape Co, a family run business based in West Yorkshire, is fast becoming one of the UK’s largest suppliers of e-liquids. In four years the company have gone from strength to strength continuing their impressive growth within the industry. In recent months they announced the launch of their products into the FMCG arena through a deal with supermarket giant, Asda. The self proclaimed ‘hard-core vapers’ are fanatical about quality and flavour with all of their liquids being crafted in the UK with pharmacopeia grade nicotine and flavourings. The Doozy range consists of four collections with a total of 30 flavour profiles, a little something for everyone.

Founded in 2015 by Imran Ismail, Doozy is quickly becoming one of the most easily recognisable e-liquid brands in the country, with a 200% increase in growth forecast for the year ahead. Commenting on the Asda contract, Ismail, says: “It’s a proud moment in our journey, to introduce our product range to a national supermarket chain. Our products have a

loyal following, and this partnership with Asda provides the perfect platform to showcase our products and reach out to many more vapers across the country.” The new contract means Asda, owned by US company Walmart, will now stock Doozy fruit, cool and desserts ranges along with Doozy’s dedicated tobacco e-liquid line known as Baccy Roots, all of which are supplied in various nicotine strengths. Their range of exciting flavours will now be found across 46 Asda stores in the coming months as the national level rollout begins.

The Doozy range consists of four collections with a total of 30 flavour profiles, a little something for everyone.

Buying Manager at Asda, Leigh Vance said “We’re really excited to significantly extend our e-liquid range at Asda and as one of the leading UK brands, Doozy Vape plays a big part in this growth. E-liquid is a fast-growing market and Asda want to ensure that customers can purchase these products.” As you would expect Doozy Vape Co adhere to the strictest manufacturing standards with all product lines compliant with the Tobacco Product

Directive (TPD) whereas its manufacturing process is undertaken in an ISO9001 clean room certified laboratory and tested for safe toxicology and emissions. The announcement comes following the launch a new product range called Doozy Sweet Treats inspired by your favourite childhood sweets. There are five flavour profiles in the range, from Apple Chews to Fizzy Lemon, and Gummy Bears to Lime Jelly Beans, very nostalgic!

LVS Starter Kits

GIVEAWAY

e-Liquid Sponsors

O

31

ne of the highlights of the London Vape Show 2017, the ‘starter kit giveaway’, is returning this year and the show organisers have done a cracking job arranging some fantastic kits to hand

out to smokers. Anyone who came to the show last year will know what a success the giveaway was, and not content with supplying the kits, the guys arranged one on one sessions with experienced reviewers to help the newbies get to grips with their new kit. 170 starter kits were given out last year and more importantly 170 packets of cigarettes were binned, the one condition for receiving your starter kit. Hurray! FREE STARTER KITS FOR SMOKERS The idea behind the giveaway was for the shows organisers to ‘do their bit’ and help smokers to quit cigarettes, also to offer people a warm welcome into the world of vaping. On the back of last years success and all the great feedback they received, the giveaway is back for 2018 and it’s super charged! The London Vape Show will be offering a choice of two starter kits for smokers. The giveaway also helped to raise awareness about the benefits of using vaping as a tool to stop smoking, with experts on hand to answer all questions and bust myths.

So, what was the response like to the giveaway last year? Well, we asked John, one of the brains behind the giveaway. “The response was fantastic; hundreds of kits were given away and hundreds of cigarettes were surrendered. We were very happy to play our part and introduce smokers visiting the show to e-cigarettes and vaping. We had some fantastic feedback from those who received starter packs – some choosing to stop by the end of the weekend claiming they hadn’t touched a cigarette since the Friday, some claiming after receiving their free kits went on to spend money on additional e-liquids and accessories to get setup in their new cigarette free lifestyle!”

What does it mean to you to be able to help people stop smoking? “Every single person that we can help to stop smoking is a step closer to a healthier Britain which means a healthier national health service. The health benefits of switching to vaping are numerous and would bring about several positive changes in a regular smoker’s body, thus, aiding their health.”

Are there any success stories from last year’s show that you would like to share? “The manager of Olympia, the show’s venue, Louise, had tried vaping but gave up. We gave her a starter kit and juice and more importantly great advice on what vaping was and the benefits that it could bring to her; and, she didn’t smoke again. I spoke with her months later and she had not smoked since the show.”

32

Why did you want to do this in the first place? “There are frequent stories and discussions on the health benefits of switching to vaping, however, we found that despite all of this people were not making the switch and were not taking to vaping anywhere near as much as expected. Hence, we came up with this program to give them a pathway to successfully switch.”

So, lets get down to the nitty gritty, who’s sponsoring the giveaway this year? We had big plans for this year’s giveaway and we discussed several options, so we’re very excited to announce that Aramax will be sponsoring the giveaway and providing a choice from not one, but two options of starter kits.

What do people have to do to get their Starter Kit? To get hold of a starter kit simply head on over to the Vapefindr stall near the entrance and one of our team will get you started on your journey. Once you’ve received your kit there is plenty of help and advice on hand to get you started. We did some further research on the kits available and we were suitably impressed. So, the first of the two kits on offer is the Aramax Vaping Pen. With one-touch simple operation,

33

rechargeable 900mAh battery and the ability to vape while charging with the help of a micro-USB cable and pass through technology, the Aramax Vaping Pen is a great device to get started with. It’s simple, slick and ergonomic design adds to the ease of use. The 2.0 ml tank capacity when fully charged can give a vaper about 300 puffs. A sleek, signature black finish completes the look. The second kit on offer is the Aramax power. For smokers looking to make the switch while never having to worry about whether they have enough battery or not, the Aramax power, can get through 25ml of liquid on one charge. Very handy, when running out of battery could mean reaching for the ciggies. We’ve all been there!

34

Specially optimised wide-flow stainless dual coils generate more vape per battery compared to similar devices. Flavour delivery is boosted by an aerosol particle counter system and a voltage stabilizer ensures consistent vaping throughout the day. The device also comes with a whole host of nifty extras to make the overall experience more enjoyable, such as a childproof cap and leak-proof top airflow, a fully washable tank with replaceable glass, and a kit with some spares and replacements to help you on your way whilst you find your feet. If you feel you may need something with a little more oomph to get you through those early days, then this is the kit for you. As you would expect both devices are fully TPD compliant.

Going self employed as a reviewer… in the UK Hi folks! My name is Vic Mullin, better know on YouTube as “Vaping With Vic” and I have been an ecig reviewer on YouTube for more than 4 years.

he LVS awards are a chance for the industry to put forward it’s best offerings for the scrutiny of the UK’s best reviewers. Not only do you find the likes of big brands such as IVG and Vape Dinner Lady but it’s also an opportunity for small more artisan juice companies to submit their liquids and compete with industry leaders on an even playing field. Last year saw two unexpected category winners and resulted in some breakthroughs in the industry, that’s the beauty of these awards! This year at the London Vape Show, bigger than the previous year, several awards are being given across several categories with a large array of participants and brands, which doesn’t really come as a surprise, considering how successful the awards were last year! With the awards receiving a fantastic response last year, from the participants and public alike, and with over 200

juices being judged along with several other products and key industry players participating; like Purge, Tesla, One Hit Wonder, IVG and more, the awards were a big hit. Even the results were really unexpected and helped create memorable moments for winning brands, including, Strawberry Queen and Empire Vape; thus, establishing the importance of these awards in bringing the crème de la crème to the public. One of the best parts for the organisers is giving recognition to brands for their consistent efforts in the industry, innovating and keeping the vaping industry alive and vibrant. The awards certainly represent the best interests of everyone involved. This year more than a dozen awards are being given out and more than 200 brands will be participating in the show. Awards are not only being given for

liquids but also in several other categories, like, vape accessories, best branding and packaging and best booth. The judges will be looking at eleven categories for each 0mg liquids and 3mg liquids, with favorites such as best desserts, best candy and best sweet and staples such as best menthol and tobacco. The Judging Everyone is intrigued by the whole judging process; how do the organisers maintain fair judgment with so many brands and several key influential players entering? Well there are three key factors that make the awards at the London Vape Show trustworthy and fair. The first and most crucial being the judges. These guys are expert reviewers in their own right. Selected based on strict criteria, they are all highly respected independent reviewers who blog and vlog to their followers. Last year 8 judges were part of the awards panel at the London Vape Show. This year, judging will be done by the official VapeFindr reviewers at their own allotted booth. We’ll introduce you a little later‌. Next is the strict review process. The process of selection is rigorous, all the liquids are put in to neutral bottles and each of them assigned a unique code. This code, which is known only to the organiser, ensures that testing is anonymous, and results are fair. The sample products and testing codes are not shared with anyone apart from the organisers and

the team of reviewers, this helps avoid interference of any kind. This also helps instil trust in the selection and awarding process overall. Then comes the two-day long testing process! The judges will begin testing on 25th August (Friday) and will test throughout the two days to finally announce winners on Saturday night. This is when we get to the good bit, the award party! Sunday will see the winners announced to the public, then ensues the obligatory giveaways on the main stage from 4pm, the best bit? These are all award-winning liquids, and who are we kidding, we all love a good old giveaway. Lets all remember the real reason for the LVS awards, and that is to honour the winners for their hard work, dedication and unwavering commitment to the vape industry. These guys are the reason the industry is going from strength to strength and why so many smokers are able to finally kick the habit. We salute you all! If you’re not attending the show, the winners will also be announced online and on the VapeFindr app.

MEET THE JUDGES! The London Vape Show judges are a bunch of absolute stars, vaping experts in their own right, bloggers, vloggers and reviewers, these guys know their stuff and have amassed a whopping amount of followers and subscribers between them. So here they are to introduce themselves‌

SoulOhm Reviews

My Name is Mark from SoulOhm Reviews. And I’m from a small Village just outside of Doncaster, here in the UK. My vaping journey started in 2011 and since August of that year I’ve been tobacco free Straight away I got into the vape scene, watching my favourite reviewers on YouTube and going to local meets and helping out where I could with advocacy groups and supporting the vaping community. I really got into mechanical mods, building my own coils and even a little dabble with DIY e-juice. So inevitable Friends, Family & Co workers would ask about different aspects of vaping from “What device” to “How do I build coils” and as always “What’s the best Juice to buy” So this is why I started my own vaping review channel, I want it to be a fuss free, easy to follow, simple and as uncomplicated as possible. So now I test and review various vaping devices from starter kits to mechanical/regulated mods also RDA`s / RTA`s and Sub-Ohm Tanks, and a little bit of e-juice Which I must admit I really enjoy doing. I also Cast on two live shows, One is part of the Vape Uk Network and is called “Last of the Summer Vapes” which i co-host with Aden (Little Bro Vapes) and Adam (GBV Nation) And the other show is my own Live-stream show “The Ohm Service” Both shows broadcast weekly With light hearted Vape related chat, news, reviews and advocacy. Vaping isn’t just a thing to me, I have a real passion for it, and I’d like to think that my enthusiasm comes across in my videos. Vaping Pogonophile

Hi, I’m Peter. I blog about vaping and review vaping products whilst sporting a rather substantial and impressive beard. I have been writing for around a year and a half. Finding my blogging name was the combination of my two loves: vaping and my beard – therefore the Vaping Pogonophile was born! My journey with vaping began over six years ago, when I gave up smoking and I have watched as this wonderful industry expands, playing an active role. With sixteen years of experience in the catering industry under my belt, you could say I have somewhat of a discerning and knowledgeable palette. When I started writing I never expected it to gain the momentum it has and feel very humbled. I have a combined social media following exceeding 5000, my blog gets well over 1000 visitors a month and I also write for three magazines. I was one of the first reviewers to be asked to join the Vape FINDR reviewer team, an achievement I am very proud of. It’s difficult to express how proud and honoured I am to be a judge at the London Vape Show. Please come and say hello, it would be a pleasure to meet you and don’t worry my beard does not bite. Little Bro Vapes Reviews

Yo yo yo I am Aden from little bro vapes reviews 39 from Doncaster in the uk I’m a reviewer and product tester of all things vaping all with a hint of Yorkshire humour. I also co host three vape shows two on the vape uk network called last of the summer vapes and the late late vape show I also co host the super awesome vape show (sav).

I started vaping 12 years ago but dual used I did have one whole year off the stinkys but unfortunately went back to dual using, being in the entertainment industry and late nights in bars didn’t help. but just coming up to two years ago I had a mini stroke(I’m ok now I think lol) changed my life for good I stopped smoking (with help from my brother soulohm) I started casting on the last of the summer vapes with mark and Adam (gbv) and started reviewing and here I am today. keep them juice flowing people.

The Vaping Postman

Hi I’m Mark, aged 38 and smoked for 20 years. Been vaping for four years, started reviewing to help people and spread the word that vaping saves lives... I’m a massive c**t, say it as it is and pull no punches whatsoever regardless of who I upset... That has helped me grow my channel to almost 17k subscribers and a big Facebook group. Family man, have three children, work full time in between reviewing as well. Love making the videos but hate the social side of the vape scene, too many freeloading arseholes in this industry for my liking. My goal is to be number one, the best at this and to save as many people from smoking as humanly possible.

Mikes Mechs Reviews

How do’s everyone, I’m Mike, I’m one of the reviewers. I started vaping about five years ago now, started with one of those old skool pen vapes from VIP. I very quickly moved on to the subohm vaping as the pen wasn’t cutting it for me and stayed on the subohm for about a year then I discovered Mech Mods and this is where I am at today. What can I say? I love Mechs and everything about Mechs. This is why, in October of 2017 I started my own YouTube channel Mike’s Mechs Reviews. It was Jason at Live Vape N Chill that got me in to the review scene as I have been helping on his group on Facebook. Last year Jason put me on the list as a reviewer with The London Vape Show from Vapefindr. Then I met all the other Vapefindr reviewers. Dean the devil vaper, Nick aka daily vape tv, Chris from Empire Vape Co, Peter aka poggy, the guys at Spit in ya dripper reviews and there are a few others I haven’t met yet. Well enough about me, if you have any questions I will be in the reviewers area or walking round the event please don’t hesitate to ask. And the one rule I go by is no question is a silly question, if an answer helps you get off or keep you off the stinkies it was worth asking. Vape on, vape safe and most of all vape happy. See ya all round the event. Mike.

MOST INFLUENTIAL WOMEN IN VAPING

M

ore women switch from smoking to vaping than men - according to research compiled by Public Health England where they also concluded that vaping is 95% safer than smoking tobacco cigarettes. It has been predicted that in the near future, e-cigarettes may also be handed out as aids to help patients quit smoking all together - just as nicotine patches and other anti-smoking products are currently dispensed. Previously, the e-cigarette market was male dominated, but in 2015 a Spring time survey showed that 53% of 36,000 vaping customers were female. Strong and iconic female celebrities such as Katy Perry, Kate

Moss and Cara Delevingne are also turning to electronic devices to eradicate their tobacco sticks, which is great news for the women striving to advocate their passions for the healthier alternative. Though there was a time that both smoking and vaping was classed as a masculine activity, more and more females are putting a stop to the stereotypes and proving to the industry that there is a place on the vaping scene for women that is more than just being models. With the world at their feet, these four inspirational women are here to advocate and encourage more smokers (both male and female) to turn to vaping. Who run the world?

Q&A WHAT AGE DID YOU START SMOKING? I started smoking at 12 years old, I was a fifth generation smoker, so it wasn’t anything odd to my family. WHEN DID YOU START VAPING AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TOBACCO FREE?

#WhyIVape “I vape for my health, I vape for my family’s health, to influence others to make the switch. I vape for my life, for yours.”

I started vaping in 2011, and I’ve been smoke free for 5 years! WHAT MOVED YOU TO GET INVOLVED IN THE VAPING INDUSTRY? I got involved in the vaping industry to show what a positive impact it has had on my life, to show the fun and lighter side, and also spread awareness on a larger platform. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF YOUR SPECIFIC ROLE IN THE VAPING INDUSTRY? My favorite part of the vaping industry that I’m involved in is the community. The positivity and inspiration, the strength we have together, the vaping community is what inspires me to do what I do. AND, JUST FOR FUN… WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE E-JUICE FLAVOR RIGHT NOW? Starting off by making charms for tanks and then designing drip tips, she has created a way for vapers to add a little flair and personality to their vaping devices through her designs.

Q&A WHAT AGE DID YOU START SMOKING? I had my first cig at 12 years old. I could only smoke when I was able to steal one, which wasn’t often. At age 14, my friend’s Mom would get us a pack to share. WHEN DID YOU START VAPING AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TOBACCO FREE? I started vaping Feb 2009. I loved it but the

little cig-a-likes were not enough for me. So I smoked on and off for a few more years following. I have been completely tobacco free for…4 years. WHAT MOVED YOU TO GET INVOLVED IN THE VAPING INDUSTRY? Back in 2013 I realized there was a possibility to customize your Ecig. I wanted to make something fun to add to everyone’s vaping experience. So I started making little charms to hang off your tanks and drip tips. I have been modeling since I was 17 so, vape modeling and running a business in the vape industry went hand in hand. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF YOUR SPECIFIC ROLE IN THE VAPING INDUSTRY? Owning my own business. Supporting my little girl. And all of the amazing friends I have made in the process. KYLEE BREHM A GLIMPSE AT KYLEE’S VAPING STORY Kylee is a vaping tricker and influencer on Instagram. A few of the companies she is currently sponsored by are Five Star E-liquid, Serranovape, SubOhmInnovations, bmi.official, Fumivapor, Squidoode, Ohmrunhitters, and 757_cardinal_kustoms.

Q&A WHAT AGE DID YOU START SMOKING? 16 years old. WHEN DID YOU START VAPING AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TOBACCO FREE? I started vaping when I was 18 and I’ve been tobacco free for three years now. WHAT MOVED YOU TO GET INVOLVED IN THE VAPING INDUSTRY?

#WhyIVape “I vape so that I can live a longer, healthier life. I want to be able to not only play/ stay active with my future children, but to see them grow up as well.”

I am extremely close with my mom. She’s been my inspiration for everything. She had been smoking ever since I was little and as I grew up, I was scared I was going to fall into the same trap that she was in, and I did. I hid my smoking from her because she told me that it would break her heart if I started. I was working a full time job at a pizza place where everyone else smoked as well, so I’d smoke there and no one else so that she’d never find out. As soon as I turned 18, I went out and bought my first setup. I confessed to her that I was vaping to stay away from cigarettes and eventually I was able to get her off of them as well. I was bored at work one day and I decided to try and blow some o’s. I recorded myself one time and thought that it looked cool! I was never big on social media before then, but I thought it might be fun to share the photos I was taking, it all started from there once I saw that there was an entire community of people doing the same thing. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF YOUR SPECIFIC ROLE IN THE VAPING INDUSTRY? My favorite part of the vaping industry is that I’ve made lifelong friends who’ve supported me in ways that my childhood friends never did. AND, JUST FOR FUN… WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE E-JUICE FLAVOR RIGHT NOW? My favorite flavor of all time is Richie Rich by Five Star juice.

@Kyleevapes

MARIA A GLIMPSE AT MARIA’S VAPING STORY Maria is a photographer and influencer on Instagram. A few of the companies she is currently sponsored by are Ruthless E-juice, Khali Vapors, Choo Choo E-juice, 528 Custom, and TeamRoyal_Wires_FL.

Q&A WHAT AGE DID YOU START SMOKING? In 7th grade, I think I was 12. WHEN DID YOU START VAPING AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TOBACCO FREE? Picked up my first starter kit (ego pen & a ce4 clearomizer) in August of 2013. WHAT MOVED YOU TO GET INVOLVED IN THE VAPING INDUSTRY?

#WhyIVape “I vape because it’s part of me now... It keeps me off cigarettes, has helped me be more physically active without losing my breath too soon, as well as motivates me to go out exploring places when I take my pictures, and of course hopefully be an inspiration for someone else who’s looking to quit cigarettes.”

I started my Instagram in 2013, initially with random selfies & makeup, so when I got my vapekit I kind of started posting my vape photos & looking through vape-related hashtags, that’s when I found there was a whole entire vape community! So I just kept uploading my little cloud videos & I noticed that other vapers started following & interacting with me, so it actually became fun getting to know them & sharing our experiences, asking each other questions about devices, etc. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF YOUR SPECIFIC ROLE IN THE VAPING INDUSTRY? Vaping inspired me to start taking photos again, nothing fancy but I enjoy it. Plus it’s an honor & a great responsibility to spread the word about products I personally enjoy. AND, JUST FOR FUN… WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE E-JUICE FLAVOR RIGHT NOW? I mostly vape fruity flavors. My all time favorites are @KhaliVapors Devil’s Punchbowl & @RuthlessEjuice SherBAE.

SPEAKERS CORNER The UK Vaping Industry Association was formed in 2016 and has quickly established itself as the leading trade association for the vaping industry, supporting, developing and promoting one of the fastest growing sectors in the UK.

The UKVIA, which has doubled in size in the last 12 months, represents the largest market share of the UK industry, including manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers, distributors and compliance specialists. Its membership comprises some of the most entrepreneurial independent businesses in the vaping sector as well as the tobacco and pharmaceutical companies who are significantly investing in the industry. It also includes a range of ancillary service providers, from packaging to insurance. The UKVIA is focussed on the following key areas to achieve its vision of “a world where the evidence-based life changing public health benefits of vaping are fully understood and the positive impact maximised.”

It also includes a range of ancillary service providers, from packaging to insurance. In just the last year, the UKVIA has organised the leading industry vaping conference, launched VApril; the first industry-led vaping awareness campaign, worked with MPs to raise the profile of vaping in Parliament and led responses to a proposed vaping tax, battery safety issues, regulatory change and the opportunity presented by Brexit. The vaping industry is an exciting and innovative sector, but like many industries, it has its ups and downs. At the UKVIA, we want to work with the whole industry and with consumers to put vaping on the map for all of the right reasons. In particular, we want to the life-changing potential of vaping as an alternative to cigarettes to be fully realised and to convince smokers that vaping represents one of the best ways for them to make that decision to quit. And that’s what Speakers’ Corner will be all about this year; recognising and acting upon the risks in the vaping sector so we can continue to grow and deliver the successful industry that so many smokers and vapers need us to be. Led by UKVIA board members, we will be joined by expert commentators, consumer representatives and academics to discuss the key issues facing the industry. These will include:

The UKVIA is delighted to be partnering with the London Vape Show to run the inaugural Speakers’ Corner. How can we spread the positive message about vaping to the UK’s remaining seven million smokers? Why is vaping treated like smoking in so many public places and workplaces in the UK? How can we work together to oppose a vaping ‘sin tax’ that will raise prices for consumers? Is Brexit the opportunity the industry needs to get rid of illogical EU regulations?

Fight The EU Vape Tax! Although vaping is widely believed to be one of the best ways to quit smoking and so to prevent the harm caused by tobacco cigarettes, there is a real danger that vaping could now be dealt a serious blow in the form of the EU Vape Tax.

A Public Consultation The public are being given the opportunity to express their views on this new tax, and a survey has now been released which gives vapers (and non-vapers) the chance to give their opinions. This survey contains four separate sections:

Legislators in Europe have begun to float the possibilities of applying what is, essentially, a “sin tax to vaping products which could prevent smokers from taking the plunge and investing in e-cigarettes and vaping products that could help them to give up the habit.

1. This section prompts you to complete your background information so that your perspective can be better understood.

This latest threat comes hot on the heels of TPD Article 20, which was recently implemented across Europe and which appears to be protecting tobacco cigarettes to the detriment of those whose lives could potentially be saved by making the switch to vaping.

2. This section discusses taxation of traditional tobacco products. 3. This section covers modern heated tobacco products and e-cigarettes. 4. This section gives respondents the chance to upload their own position paper so that they can fully explain their position and the choices that they’ve made.

Respondents can answer the questionnaire*1 in any official EU language and can choose which of the questions they answer. It’s hoped that, if enough vapers complete this questionnaire, the decision that the EU finally makes will be influenced by their opinions. Signing The Petition Not only do vapers have the chance to complete the questionnaire, they also have the opportunity to sign the petition*2 which has been launched by the Collective of EU Vapers. This petition gives vapers across Europe the opportunity to voice their opinions and to stand up and be counted. The petition points out that over 7.5 million people in Europe have been able to quit smoking as a direct result of vaping, with 9 million more having been able to reduce the number of cigarettes they consume. By imposing excise duties on non-tobacco consumer products, people who are most in need of these less harmful products will

be deterred from using them. The petition also makes it clear that vaping products contain no tobacco and since they don’t produce any tar, carbon monoxide or smoke, and are 95% less harmful to human health than regular tobacco cigarettes, they should certainly not be subject to this punitive taxation. If enough people sign the petition and submit the questionnaire, it’s possible that this unjustified sin tax can be avoided, enabling people across Europe to benefit from the health advantages that e-cigarettes can provide. *1
