Crop Testing Why is testing for moisture so important? According to agricultural nutrition experts, the single most important factor influencing the quality of grain, hay and silage is moisture. Moisture management is a continuous process that requires measuring tools. It is essential to test the moisture content of grain and hay before and during harvest and throughout storage.
