8th OITF sees a Resounding Success with Industry support Following the trail of the recently announced 20 Smart Cities in India, the 8th Odisha Information Technology Fair (OITF) dwelled upon this success by discussing how Bhubaneswar has geared up to emerge as a Smart city. The event saw participation from across verticals – government dignitaries, IT Heads, Corporate honchos, Distributor and the Reseller community from the state of Odisha and served as a platform to discuss some of the key vital issues concerning the IT landscape in the state. Shri Priyadarshi Mishra, MLA, Bhubaneswar, who graced the occasion as a Special Guest marked the beginning of the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. O I TF has over the years ser v ed as a platform to discuss some of the ke y vital issues concerning the IT landscape in the state Mr. Deepak Sahu, Chief Editor – VARINDIA while addressing the guests remarked at the fabulous digital story that India is seeing. “Digital transformation is now a primary agenda for C-suite executives in India. It has been found that 74% companies surveyed in India are already on their way in digitally transforming their business, while 26% plan to embark on the transformation journey over the next 12-24 months. They are already experiencing an average of 8% revenue growth as a direct result of their digital transformation efforts, and they expect to reach nearly 14% by 2017.” In the corporate presentations section, corporates Canon, Cyberoam|Sophos, NetApp, EMC and Tally shared their vision of their respective companies on Smart Cities with the audience. Towards the end of the event, a panel discussion entitled ‘Readiness of Bhubaneswar to be the Smart City,’ was conducted that was chaired by Mr. Deepak Kumar Sahu, Chief

EVENT Panel Discussion on ÂReadiness of Bhubaneswar to be the Smart CityÊ Moderated by Mr. Deepak Kumar Sahu, Chief EditorVARINDIA, the industry-led platform aimed to leverage the collaborative efforts of Bhubaneswar’s corporates, citizens and local government to catalyse the transformation of the city into the most liveable city in India. Corporate support would be needed in many aspects like generating employee participation in the Digital Literacy campaign and making maximum households digitally literate and meet the goal of at least one individual per family to be digitally literate. This initiative is not about incremental-change but about redefining the very framework of social transformation. · Collaborative partnerships between the government and corporates are also a welcome development. Shortlisted as one of the 100 cities, Bhubaneswar is initiating a citywide process to create a new vision that is inclusive and reflects the needs and dreams of all its citizens. As an emerging information technology (IT) hub with a strong investment-ready climate, Bhubaneswar is ready to take up the most pressing challenges that the citizens face to turn them into transformational opportunities for the city. As of now, the first priority of Bhubaneswar Municipal Commission (BMC) however would be to provide reliable and quick transport.

6th VARINDIA Cup 2016 – Driving Sportsmanship in IT The 8th OITF also saw the winners of the 6th VARINDIA CUP 2016 getting felicitated by Special Guest Shri Priyadarshi Mishra, Hon’ble MLA, Bhubaneswar, amidst loud cheers and applause. The 6th VARINDIA IT Cup Cricket Tournament, a Corporate Cricket League, was organized successfully on 17th, 23rd & 24th January, 2016 (at Infosys Cricket Ground), with the semi-final and final matches being held on 26th January, 2016 (at Sahid Sporting Ground, Sahid Nagar) in Bhubaneswar. This cricketing event has been a very popular event among IT corporates ever since its inception six years back. During these six years, VARINDIA Cup has had the

participation of IT cricket enthusiasts from over 24 different companies. This year, 16 IT corporates including Infosys, Wipro, TCS, MindTree, Exilant, Aabsys, Auroin, CSM, Tatwa, Mindfire, T-Cube, Suyog, Process Map, OCAC, STPI and IT Association of Odisha (ITAO) – participated in the tournament. Infosys won this year’s 6th VARINDIA CUP Champion trophy, while MindTree was announced as the Runners-up. Sujaya Moukhapadhaya of Infosys was adjudged the Man of the Final Match and the Man of the Tournament award went to Bikashraj Swain of MindTree.
