In Focus | RICOH According to you, what all market trends are influencing the Middle East printer market? Customers specially from the SMB segment are matured and well aware. Speed efficiency of the printer is getting considered as a top priority among such customers. In the printers & A4 segment, SMB customers are moving for upper speed segment 30+ PPM which is affecting dramatically the unit share of the lower speed segment 10 to 20 PPM . Vendors are providing different mobile print SWs for the Soho printers. How the Office Printing and document management market is evolving? As mentioned earlier, SMB is gaining importance in today’s business. I feel that, SMB segment is the future of the printing market in Middle East and this important segment is moving in fast track into services based contracts instead of buying boxes. From customers’ buying decision perspective, what are the parameters of selecting an Multi Functional Printers (MFP)? Total cost of Ownership (TCO) is the main factor effecting the printer buying. Customers are now becoming very cautious on the supplies pricing unlike few years back. Secondly, and most importantly, reliable performance is very important priority for every customer type. MFPs with reliable performance coupled with a very low supplies price is the key attraction for customers nowadays. 6

We are the world’s leading provider of WLAN products. We have soho and SMB products in our product range. Our soho products are quite popular in the region. This year, we have been focusing a lot on the SMB products. These include switches, both managed and unmanaged and even for Layer 3 switching. Pharos, TP-LINK’s product series meant for outdoor wireless networking applications, includes a variety of CPE and Basestation devices, carrier class antennas, and a centralized management application. These

It is now keen to expand its success into the SMB segment as well as enhance reach in various markets outside the UAE. We haV ve been looking at our focus for the year in two parts. One of them has been expansion of our team, not just in Dubai but in our branches. These include Egypt, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and so on. We are registering local offices in these markets and hiring local resources in these markets. 14

Discuss the tri-band routers you introduced. Do these also include ceiling access points? The tri band routers we have introduced is for the home users. The ceiling access points are only dual band at the moment and which are meant for corporate customers who want to provide wireless access to customers in their premises. Ceiling access points are powered by the PoE switches we provide. So we now provide an entire range of products for setting up wireless connectivity in the SMB segment. You mentioned establishing local offices as a key focus. Does this include different GCC markets? While for Saudi Arabia, we are registering our local office and already have local teams, for the other GCC countries, we will rely on our local distribution partners. We will not have a local offices in these other GCC markets for now but will have responsible managers travelling out to these markets on Business development trips to understand market situations, guide our distributors and enhance relationships with partners. How has the sales been for the year? This year, the market has seen

However, networking as a segment has been one of the exceptions in the ICT industry and has seen growth vis-à-vis other segments like PC, Mobility etc. one of the key factors is also that there is also a lot of upgrading from older technologies to newer solutions. This year, more customers have moved to wireless AC access routers and this has been a key growth driver because people

are interested in increased wireless throughput speeds. We are looking to reach a higher sales target riding on the robust sales of our new generation products this year. Discuss if new models are being launched shortly? Also, elaborate if you expect demand to rise for triband wireless products? We will launch some new models at GITEX. For the AC

In Focus | WD WD has announced new additions in it’s flagship black series of internal desktop hard drives which will come in the 5TB (model no: WD5001FZWX) and 6TB (model no: WD6001FZWX) capacities. The WD Black 5TB and 6TB internal drives will come with a 7200 RPM rotational speed and WD claims that these drives are targeted towards the gaming and professional user community. The WD Black drives will come with 128MB of cache memory, dual-stage actuator technology and a SATA 6 Gbps interface. According to WD, the WD Black 6TB drive is 29% faster than the WD Black 4TB drive. The drives will come with a 5-year warranty.
