Tell us more about your role, and how you came to work in cybersecurity.

In my role as a Program Manager at BeyondTrust, I’m responsible for managing a team of Implementation Managers/Project Managers and I’m also working on delivering complex programs/ projects in EMEA region.

I started my career in the Tech Industry in 2011, focusing on the data storage management projects for 6 years, then networking/ telecommunications for 3 years and in 2020 I decided to explore cybersecurity because it is vital element of every successful program delivery to any organization.

What do you love about your job?

It’s a unique and interesting job where you always get an opportunity to lead and motivate people to do their best work, remove roadblocks and be inspired by them. At the same time, project management is a fantastic skill to have because it helps you in other areas of life too, and with every project being unique, I am never bored and always challenged to learn more and develop new skills.

Why is it important to have a diverse workforce in this field?

How does it benefit cybersecurity? Diversity encourages innovation and creates more opportunities for creativity. In cybersecurity, Creativity and Innovation are key success factors in developing products and providing services to a wide range of customers who

have rapidly changing demands. Having different perspectives and backgrounds in one team will always bring value to our diverse customers.

How can organizations pave the way for a future of female cybersecurity leaders?

30% of BeyondTrust C-Suite are great female leaders including our CEO Janine Seebeck. BeyondTrust is empowering future female leaders through many inspiring initiatives and programs such as “Women & Allies” BTRG and “Possibili-teas” that offer regular informal conversations with female leaders who continually empower other women by living BeyondTrust values, lead by example and engage all employees to learn about the perspectives of women.

Organizations can pave the way for future female leaders through many activities; starting with reaching out to a more gender diverse pool when attracting talent and then also offering flexible working environment, mentoring opportunities, leadership training programs, and networking groups to inspire future female leaders and help them recognize their hidden potentials.

What would be your advice for someone who wants to start a career in cybersecurity?

Be self-confident and motivated to always learn and focus on your adaptability skills including communication and problemsolving because cybersecurity trends are constantly evolving.
