Echo Show 8 features Adaptive Content—a new home screen experience that uses on-device computer vision technology to adjust on-screen content based on a customer’s proximity to the device. With this experience, a customer positioned across the room will see content that is easily viewed from a distance—such as a simplified news headline or a large clock display—with the screen automatically transitioning to a more detailed view as they approach the device. If the customer is enrolled in visual ID, the content will also be personalized to them, highlighting things like a recent playlist. Adaptive Content will be available on Echo Show 8 (2nd and 3rd generation) next month and roll out to other Echo Show devices next year.

Intel Stays on Track with Process Technology Plan, Unveils Xeon and AI PC Processors

At its third annual Intel Innovation event, Intel unveiled an array of technologies to bring artificial intelligence everywhere and make it more accessible across all workloads, from client and edge to network and cloud.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Intel confirmed its five-nodes-in-four-years process technology plan remains on track, and it demonstrated the world’s first multi-chiplet package using Universal Chiplet Interconnect Express (UCIe) interconnects.

• The company revealed new details on next-generation Intel Xeon processors, including major advances in power efficiency and performance, and an E-core processor with 288 cores. 5th Gen Intel Xeon processors will launch Dec. 14

• The AI PC arrives with the launch of Intel Core Ultra processors on Dec. 14. With Intel’s first integrated neural processing unit, Core Ultra will deliver power-efficient AI acceleration and local inference on the PC.

Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger shared significant updates on silicon innovation and multi-chiplet packaging technologies. Intel’s ambitious five-nodes-in-fouryears process development program is progressing well, with Intel 7 in high-volume production, Intel 4 ready for manufacturing, and Intel 3 on track for completion by year-end.

Gelsinger introduced the concept of glass substrates, a groundbreaking technology set to revolutionize transistor scaling, especially for data-intensive tasks like AI, ensuring Moore’s Law’s continuity beyond 2030.

In terms of performance and AI expansion, Gelsinger unveiled Intel’s next-generation Intel Xeon processors, set to launch on December 14. These 5th Gen Intel Xeon processors offer remarkable performance improvements, faster memory, and power efficiency, benefitting data centers globally. Sierra Forest, arriving in H1 2024, will provide exceptional rack density and performance per watt, including a version boasting 288 cores.
