BEDDING COLLECTION 1
Cautching
The brief was to creating a calm and tranquil collection hence the colour palette was kept creamy and grey. In this collection I tried to develop a peaceful design with minimal design elements. 6
SURFACE DEVELOPMENT
7
The diamond pattern knot gave the idea of surface construction. The diamond pattern and knot created the design of each product in the bedding. The independent diamond ornamentation goes very well with the Duvet set. The granny knot also went with the whole concept of design. 8

Colourful Creatures Fantastic flora and wondrously- shaped corals inspire brightly coloured embroidery, relief and bold patterns that work for both all-over linens or interesting embellishments. 10
Corals have structure as small as coin and as large as island, so the different sizes of corals gave an unique look.

MOODBOARD : Eco Active
The merging of function and visual appeal plays a large role in the growing design movement. With solutions such as air purifying billboards, solar power roads people are moving towards prevention rather than cure. Satellite images inspire new camo textures
Vertical garden
Close-ups of leaf veins and colourings inspire a delicate pattern direction either nscaled up and placed or juxtapose and repeated, lush green leafage drives the story.
Patterns inspired by natural landscapes, foliage
The contours and thin outlines of geothermic map and bird’s-eye landscape views trace delicate patterns.
The lush vegetation of the Amazon inspires designs driven by tropical flora and fauna.

A P PA R E L C O O R D I N A T E S Woven apparel design project based on woven and other surface development techniques. This project demonstrated how inspiration can help to create collection coordinates. I used weaving and other techniques such as dyeing, embroidery for coordinates. The collection has been designed keeping in mind the apparel design Spring/ Summer 2012 for Ritu Kumar. Brand : Ritu Kumar Season : Spring Summer 2012
INSPIRATION - PEEPAL TREE
My collection of fabrics was based on the peepal tree. The Peepal tree has been worshipped since long in Hindu society. Elder women in every family have offered prayers to the Peepal tree due to its benevolent and blessing qualities. The images of the tree formed the reference for the textures associated with the tree and added an Indian twist to my colour palette.
Techniques : Collection has variety of techniques which creates a coordinates with dyeing, embroidery, weaving.

76
SLING BAG In this project I attempted to understand the traditional dyeing techniques and understand how the techniques work on different materials, dyes and heat setting. I used shibori technique which is a old dyeing method by stitching & gathering the fabric. I used this technique on rexin material and a pattern was created by heat setting. Techniques : The inspiration for the sling bag is traditional shibori. I applied heat setting technique to replicate the shibori texture.
77
FINISHED PRODUCT
The material used for this sling bag is rexine.

C R A F T D O C U M E N TA T I O N The craft documentation is one of the most important textile design project conducted at the National Institute of Design. India has a vast range of crafts. Village crafts in India remain robust as long as their actual and social function is alive which is why it is very important to document the process. Indian villages are famous for their judicious and indigenous use of the locally available raw materials, fibre, wood, clay and discarded materials. The most endearing quality of the villages, is the people with a keen eye for beautifying objects. Techniques : Village crafts, bedding making, basket weaving, hand-fan, net making, knited doormat. 79
