Our decisions about where we live change throughout the different stages of our lives. We, oftentimes, have small starter homes as we’re just striking out on our own. When children come along and we feel that we need more space, larger homes are purchased to accommodate our growing families. After children leave the nest, some choose to remain in the home, while others decide to downsize, once again. LIVING OPTIONS Aging In Place
Assisted Living
Aging in Place is staying in the home you live in. And, if needs arise, those needs are met by hiring outside assistance. Assistance can include home making assistance, transportation, personal care and skilled medical care. Frequency and duration of assistance varies by situation and can range from weekly visits to live-in assistance. Hospice can be available to assist the terminally ill.
An Assisted Living Residence is a full-time residence for adults that do not need ongoing skilled nursing care but require ongoing assistance with everyday tasks such as dressing, bathing and eating.
Independent Living – Senior Communities This is the choice of many active Seniors that choose to downsize. Senior Living Communities are age-restricted to those 50 or 55+ and consist of low-maintenance apartments, homes or villas, attached or detached, where residents can care for themselves, completely, without assistance.
Rehabilitation Short-term live-in centers that offer rehabilitation services to help recovery from an injury or an illness.
Skilled Nursing Full-time residences that offer private or semi-private rooms, medical care and rehabilitation, meals, activities and programs.
Alzheimer’s Live-in residences that offer a safe & secure setting and therapies and programs that allow those with Alzheimer’s Disease or other memory-related conditions to live life to their fullest.

Do you know the warning signs of a stroke? Symptoms of a stroke can sometimes develop gradually. Knowing the warning signs can help you or a loved one. Warning Signs: • Numbness or weakness in the face, arm or leg. Especially one side. • Confusion or trouble understanding other people • Trouble speaking • Trouble seeing with one or both eyes • Trouble walking or staying balanced or coordinated • Dizziness • Severe headache that comes on for no known reason Stroke symptoms may differ, depending on the type of stroke, where it occurs, and its severity. If someone is having having any of these symptoms, it’s safest to call 9-1-1 immediately. The sooner the treatment, the less chance of serious damage to the brain and the less chance there is for permanent disability. IMPORTANT: Note the time of the first symptom. This information is important and can affect treatment decisions.
