Greetings for your Bailli Délégué,

I trust this issue of our Newsletter finds you well and busily preparing for the Holiday Season.

For our Baillis and our local and national boards, the last three months have been a particularly busy time. We have introduced and inducted over 160 new members and promotions into our organization. After two difficult years, we are so grateful to see so much interest in la Chaine. We are experiencing growth across all 12 of our Canadian Bailliages.

Induction events kicked off in October at a very successful Grand Chapitre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. So many wonderful sights and culture…and the history, food and wine! Memories that will last a long time. Soon thereafter, inaugural induction events were held in the Okanagan Valley and Ottawa, along with Chapître events by our “older” Bailliages from Coast-to-Coast. I encourage you to review the many articles in this issue. They will give you a small ‘taste’ of the cuisine and camaraderie enjoyed by all who attended these and other events over the past 6 months.

I am also happy to report that we hosted a very successful Young Chef Rôtisseurs Competition in Halifax. Congratulations to Ethan Green who will represent Canada at the 2023 International Young Chef Rôtisseurs Competition in Istanbul Turkey. Not to forget our 2022 International competitors, Young Chef Leah Patitucci and Young Sommelier Julian Simard Gillis, who both capably represented Canada this past year. Furthermore, it gives me pleasure to report that in 2024, Canada will proudly host the International Young Sommelier Competition.

I wish you and your families a wonderful Holiday Season and a Health and prosperous 2023!
