The SINUS trims system With the SINUS trims system, it is possible to design accessible shower trays in all sizes and layouts. Thanks to the low installation height of the overall design, the system is also suitable for use when renovating old buildings. SINUS can be used for the aesthetic design of all other transitions between floors and walls, as well as for the inside and outside corners in wall areas, storage areas and niches, and pre-wall installations. This lends the room a more spacious look, with no change of material to break up the floor area. From a technical point of view, a homogeneous layer structure is produced. The shower trays can be produced in two variants: • In lowered form. The transition is produced here with specially-shaped tiles leading into the shower tray, at a
tween the shower tray and floor. This variant is chosen when the overall height needs to be minimised. Thanks 3576 Inside corner wall white · grey 10 x 10 cm

to the rounded edges, this threshold does not represent a barrier. The system ensures optimum hygienic conditions. The position of the elastic joint is 15 mm above the wet areas. As a result, there is much less stress on this joint. This results in considerable cost savings (cleaning and renewal of elastic joints) throughout the service life. The modular structure of the system and its assignment to the PRO ARCHITECTURA format and colour system also offers lots of design possibilities. Thanks to the 10 cm basic grid, it is also possible to design small sanitary rooms, such as are found in old buildings in particular, for maximum function.

Floor-flush shower trays and hygiene areas We offer various solutions for shower trays without a change of material. Standardised shower trays are either installed with prefabricated rigid foam elements (with integrated slope and floor drain) or produced with sloping screed. With linear drainage and, for example, in combination with rigid foam base elements, large-format tiles are suitable for floor-flush shower solutions (detail A and B). The versatile SINUS range of functional

trims offers additional flexible options. With the standard variant, the shower tray is lowered by 10 mm with the aid of various trims (detail C). Accessible construction
The sill solution is ideal when low overall floor heights are involved and for renovation measures. The level of the shower tray corresponds to that of the adjoining room here. The two areas are separated by trims of 10 mm in height (sills), which prevented shower water from overflowing into adjoining rooms (detail D). Measures on the uncovered floor to prod-

uce the recesses for the shower trays must be discussed with the structural planner. An adequate slope to the floor inlet and an appropriate composite seal are also to be ensured. Suitable tile adhesives in accordance with DIN EN 12004, Class C 2 for installation according to the thin-bed method should be used. Jointing should preferably be carried out with a hydraulic ready-mixed jointing mortar or with reaction resin jointing mortar. The slip-resistance of the tiles should correspond to class „B“ for public barefoot areas at least.

The drawings shown here depict examples which are not applicable in detail to every on-site situation. In principle, solutions are possible with all commercially-available shower board elements and floor inlet systems.

Floor-flush shower trays and hygiene areas The examples here have a shower tray depth of between 10 and 13 mm, according to the desired variant. A recess is to be produced in the screed, corresponding to the size of the shower tray. Suitable floor drains with horizontal and vertical drain (also as fire-resistant variants) are available from various manufacturers. An adequate slope to the floor drain must be ensured when installing the shower tray. An additional impact sound insulation course of 10 mm in thickness improves

GRANIFLOOR cove base, 10 x 10 cm, dark grey. Horizontal installation with mitre cut.
Cove bases Particularly in wet areas, such as showers and swimming pool surrounds, cove bases can be used to create functional and durable junctions between walls and floors. Cove bases can be installed differently, depending on the application area involved. In the case of “horizontal installation”, the cove base raises the elastic joint 15 mm above the wet area, thereby protecting it from continuous moisture. The use of cove bases can significantly extend the maintenance intervals of joints. In areas where flooring is subject to less moisture, but expectations for hygiene are high, “vertical installation” can be selected. The rounded cove provides for more effective cleaning of the floor-wall transition. Cove bases are offered not only as a functional trim to the successful Villeroy & Boch design ranges. They are available in 10 x 30 cm format in each of the basic tile colours and offer a way to design the junction between walls and floors in a uniform look. This is what makes Villeroy & Boch Tiles one of the first manufacturers to provide architects and planners with aesthetically appealing solutions for points of detail.
