The autumn equinox has passed, daylight savings finishes 4 April; summer is definitely on the way out. Not long until the shortest day…
PAST EVENTS
27 February 2021 – Fish & Chip Run.
This was canned in favour of the Branch Annual Rally, with the motorcyclists invited to support that instead. Only one rider did, and needless to say he scooped all of the motorcycle awards including M/C Concours and 1st bike overall. Jens isn’t normally a pot-hunter either…
5–7 March – Jim Toohey Rally.
Nine bikes left Cutler Park to travel the 60 miles to Methven, but we actually travelled 170 miles to get there. Lunch was at Lake Hood. Plod set the route using Google Maps; very obvious as he sent us down a road that was deep gravel, all 11 miles of it… The ski lodge accommodation (with breakfast thrown in) was very good!! Thanks to the organisers.
10 March – Motorcycle Noggin.
At Motorcycle Corner, about a dozen arrived.
This was cancelled due to covid-19. As many of Canterbury branch’s The Syndicate had time off work etc., an alternative tour of the South Island was undertaken instead. About 15 riders and a truck & trailer for back-up went Chch – Blenheim – Nelson – Punakaiki – Fox Glacier – Wanaka – Twizel – Chch. In all, a 10 day trip including a couple of lay days; no real dramas either.
27 March – Fish & Chip Run.
This is in the future at the time of writing; however is to be a trip to the Winchester Swap Meet. Be interesting to see the numbers fronting up for the 8.00 am meeting at BP Rolleston…
FUTURE EVENTS
11 April – “P” Group Annual Rally.
No reason why motorbikes in the Post Vintage, Post war, Post 60 and Post 80 cannot join in! See elsewhere for details and entry! (I’ll be there, driving my Stag though…)
14 April – Motorcycle Noggin.
This will be a visit to the VCC National
Archives housed in the VCC of NZ’s HQ at 12 Aberdeen Street, between Manchester and Madras Sts, central city. 7.30 pm, and Don Muller, VCC Archivist, will be on hand to show you around. There is some very interesting old things there!! Probably retire to a local watering hole afterwards…
17 April – Scooter Run.
Also for motorcycles up to 250cc. All Veteran bikes, regardless of size, are invited to attend as well. See elsewhere for full details, but start is at First European Motorcycles Café, Fitzgerald/Ferry Rd corner, gather 10.00 am. John Benn (022 078 2002) is organising.
24 April – Fish & Chip Run.
The proposed garage raid has been delayed, so just front up to BP Moorhouse/ Antigua corner, 10.15am for a 10.30 am departure. Riders decide on destination.
12 May – Motorcycle Noggin.
We are furiously thinking of an interesting place to visit, so if you have any bright ideas let’s know!!
23 May – Ruff Run.
It is on the calendar but nothing formalised at a committee meeting yet. Watch this space!
