CHAIRMAN’S REPORT At last summer is officially here and the holiday break is around the corner. November has been a busy month with something on every weekend. The annual motorcycle, vintage and veteran rallies were all held with the veteran rally sharing the day with the All British Day. A successful Show Weekend Tour was run by Dave Inwood and the Homestead Run organised by the Motorcycle Section was a very nice day out with two interesting homesteads visited on the Peninsula. Thanks to Phil Jeeves, Mike Glenday and Jens Christensen for a memorable event. Mike Milne ran his first vintage rally and everyone who attended was thrilled with the event. Comment was made that this was a real vintage rally, over back roads on the Peninsula, and ending up with generous platters of food at the Tai Tapu hotel. Well done Mike on such a good event. We were all shocked to see only 16 entries for this rally. Fifty years ago, even small branches managed at least twice that number with only a fraction of the membership we have. Every event we have run this year has been down on numbers from twenty percent to over fifty percent. This is a serious trend which needs to be addressed. Organisers budget conservatively for these events, but when entries are seriously down, they run at a loss and the branch has to pick up the shortfall. As a result, I will be looking at combining some events next year, or dropping them from the calendar. We already have too many events listed, and there are always new opportunities arising which we would like to take advantage of.
CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PICNIC The Children’s JOHN COOMBER Christmas Picnic Chairman on 7 December this year is part of the Kaiapoi Christmas Carnival which is a return to what we used to have well over thirty years ago. This is an exciting opportunity for us to display our vehicles, take part in the show and shine part of the carnival with prizes, see the market stalls and entertainment, and have eleven different forms of entertainment for the children, all free of charge to our members. In the entry form in last month’s Hub I stated that Father Christmas would be giving out presents in the afternoon. We have now changed this to 11.30 am, giving time for lunch then the Santa Parade at 1.30pm. You will be able to see the new Kaiapoi River Queen paddle steamer which is now moored adjacent to the venue. For those who do not have young children or grandchildren, I invite you to bring your club vehicle to park in our display area and enjoy the festival free of charge. I hope there is a good selection of vehicles for our display, as this will be the venue for our future Christmas events. I want to thank Tracey Inwood for her invitation to our branch to join in the festival. BRANCH ANNUAL RALLY The entry form for our 2020 Branch Annual Rally is in this Hub. Katrina has put a lot of effort into a new and exciting format with the emphasis on keeping the entry fee and cost of the BBQ meal as inexpensive as possible, and there will be professional PAGE 7
CHAIRMAN’S REPORT continued entertainment on the Sunday after the meal as well. Please support this rally. Let’s see if we can reverse the decline in numbers, and generate some enthusiasm within the branch. There is an option for those who cannot attend on Saturday to take part on Sunday and enjoy the BBQ lunch and entertainment.
short run to a picnic spot. Dave Inwood is organising the Picnic run in January. Details in this Hub.
We also have the Commercial rally and P Group rallies in the new year, so start planning to attend. The Boxing day run will start at Cutler Park with a cup of tea and a
Merry Christmas and safe motoring. John Coomber

SECRETARY’S REPORT YAHOO SUMMER. Hail Rain Wind and Whatever. Well we had a great day for the Vintage Rally and a real Vintage Rally it was. A few hills of note and a bit of shingle for good measure. Hooray. By the response of the few that attended a great day of motoring and camaraderie was had. I would like to personally thank Mike and his daughter for organizing this and hope they got lots of satisfaction from the work put in, pity the entries were low this year. We are trialling emailing members leading up to these events as reminders to enter as I’m sure some of you just read your Hub on line think I must enter that, then promptly forget all about it.
Rosalie, Julie, and I are putting hours of work into this. We will see how it develops as a communication tool.
ROD THROWER Secretary
Great to see two rallies for early next year already up to speed with Entry Forms in this months Hub. Thank you Graeme. And Notices of the two day runs which don’t require entry forms. Get out there – the weather is great. Merry Christmas and happy safe holiday motoring, we might see you on the Boxing Day or New Year Picnic Runs. Rod
It would be to your advantage to let me know your email address so you can become part of this communication.

LETTERS SWAP MEET Well the weather treated us a bit kinder this year, and I hope we got a good result. However, I think we are getting a bit hungry with the costs - $50 for a site and another $10 to man the thing I feel is becoming a bit excessive. South Canterbury charge $30 with passes, Ashburton $30 with passes, Nelson $15 with a pass, Gore $8 a site, North Otago $15 a site, and Waikato $15 a site. Fair enough charging the public these prices but I feel branch members could be looked after a bit better. Maybe the argument is that our swap meet is over three days as opposed to a one day meet for the others mentioned, but we also get three days of public attendance don’t we? I feel that branch members could be treated better than the public. Colin Rae RESPONSE FROM COLIN HEY, SWAP MEET CHAIRMAN. The site charge for our (Canterbury) Swap Meet has been $45 for a site for the last three years. This is for selling over three full days (Friday to Sunday). Ours is the only swap meet that runs for a full (long) weekend, and is the biggest in New Zealand with 580 sites and around 5,000 people attending. As a comparison, other large outdoor events in Canterbury attracting similar numbers charge between $80 and $190 for a 3m x 3m one-day site. Our sites are a minimum size of 5m x 3m – many are larger. As you point out, we also charge entry to the site holders. This is done separately, because in the past we have had problems
with some site holders leaving the grounds, asking for a pass-out stamp, and then giving their site pass to another person to gain free entry. This amounts to nothing less than theft from our branch. Even with the new wrist-bands the problem is ongoing, which is why we try to insist on them being worn. Our entry fee of $5 per day is the same as all other swap meets, and a $10 pass allows entry over all three days. I must point out that any Canterbury Branch member can get an event pass if they volunteer for one of the rostered duties. This usually means only giving up one or two hours of their time over the weekend. Many members are happy to do this but still insist on paying normal admission, and dozens of others offer from many hours to a full week of their time to support the event – these members are gold as far as I am concerned! It is important to realise that our Swap Meet is the only fundraising event our branch runs, and for this one event needs to be more about our branch members looking after the event than the branch looking after our members. We pay other clubs and suppliers thousands of dollars to carry out tasks such as security, rubbish collection, gate keeping, cleaning and car parking that we cannot resource from our own members because we cannot get enough volunteers. We really still only raise just enough to keep our branch running for a year and perhaps fund a major maintenance item or facility upgrade. Fortunately this means that we can avoid alternative fundraising options which would be considerably less popular with our members. Thanks for your feedback Colin – I trust this explanation puts your concerns to rest. PAGE 11
VETERAN REPORT Firstly I want to thank the dozen and more cars that came along to the Annual run on 10 November. It was great to have a couple of entries from Ashburton and Timaru join us. The Ohoka Domain provided a nice spot to finish for lunch and the rain kept away for long enough to enjoy the run and finish lunch. I think being with the All British day run also made for an interesting mix of people and vehicles.
UPCOMING EVENT

I intend to take us another direction for this run and find a nice spot for lunch, enter online or see page in this Hub.
VINTAGE REPORT I hope you have been making the most of the weather we have been having and getting the car out of the shed, finishing off a restoration or just completing those little jobs ready for summer holidays. Recent events that you may have been on in the past month, Vintage Annual Rally, Annual Veteran Rally, All British Car Day and the Homestead Run. I’m sure those of you who have supported these events have enjoyed them. In December we have the VCC Christmas Party which looks like a great format this year. For those who enjoy the back roads of New Zealand both the Highland Fling and our own Irishman Rallies have been announced and the dates confirmed. We are starting to get more information through from the Highland Fling committee as they PAGE 12

2019 ALL BRITISH DAY - thank you I would just like to pass on my thanks to everyone who turned out to this year’s All British Day on Sunday 10th November. We had over 120 cars taking part, and shared a great day with the Annual Veteran Rally which used the same start point (our club grounds), and finished at the same venue also at Ohoka Domain. Despite a bad weather forecast, the day stayed warm and was sometimes even sunny, with the rain holding off until after we finished the day off slightly earlier than usual at 1.30pm. We had some great cars turn up, and managed to raise $700 for the Van Asch Deaf Education Centre. VINTAGE ANNUAL Rally
The Vintage Annual Rally started at Princess Margaret Hospital car park under a mixed sky but with warm temperatures. The cars were parked up in a line against the majestic red brick building awaiting the day. At this point Taylor made her decision on the ‘People’s Choice’ trophy and we assembled for driver’s briefing. The field test was a simple timed out, into a park, reverse into the next park and race to the finish cone to put the cup on it affair. All the drivers did well at this, but the Thrower’s took out the competition with a one, two finish. Gordon’s drive was 7 seconds faster than his nearest rival, Rod Thrower. After each car had completed the test, they set off onto the hills up Hackthorne Road around the bay as far as Purau. At Purau the road gets a bit narrower and a lot steeper in sections. Almost at the top of Port Levy Road Michael Hedgman in his Lagonda 12/24 decided to retire from the rally but he was extremely happy with his car’s performance on these roads.

TAYLOR & MIKE MILNE Rally Report
After dropping HEATHER MASON into Port Levy, we MIKE MILNE continued around Photos the water’s edge and started up the next hill to Pigeon Bay. This road is narrow, metal and in some places unfenced which some of the navigators found a bit unnerving to say the least! At Pigeon Bay we had a leisurely lunch which was very pleasant as the sun had not managed to break through the clouds to make the temperature unbearable. We had a surprise visit from Rob Spyker in his immaculately restored veteran 1907 Spyker. We set off up the valley to the Summit Road with most cars taking the shingle road option which takes you around the valley ridgeline before dropping back down to the Summit Road. Chris Bell’s 1929 Nash decided to have a little fuel trouble so it was decided that he would push my ute on a stiff rope to level ground where repairs could be made. The rally continued along the Summit Road until we met the Akaroa Highway. With a
couple of quick right hand turns we were on a stock route which we followed to the valley floor. This rejoined the Akaroa Highway at Little River with a right hand turnoff to the Tai Tapu Hotel. At ‘The Tap’ we enjoyed some ploughman’s platters, a Fanta or two to wash away any dust, and a good yarn to round out the day.
Although the number of entries were very low this year, everyone that entered enjoyed the day. Next year’s run will follow a similar touringtype format with few instructions and start stops.

SHOW WEEKEND Tour to Blenheim
15–17 NOVEMBER 2019
LINDA INWOOD Report & Photos Lunch at South Bay Recreational Reserve, Kaikoura.
On a lovely sunny morning 29 cars and approximately 60 people all met at New World carpark, Kaiapoi and after some natter headed towards Cheviot for morning tea at St Anne’s Lagoon Wildlife Reserve – a lovely little spot just off the main highway after Cheviot. The next stop was South Bay Recreational Reserve, a beautiful place to enjoy lunch right beside the sea. After travelling along the lovely Kaikoura coast – with a few stops for roadworks – an ongoing project - we stopped for afternoon tea on a farm right on the coast up near Parakawa. We then headed to our motels. Saturday – another fine day. We enjoyed a lovely morning tea provided by the Marlborough Vintage Car Club at their clubrooms in Brayshaw Park. Lots more natter and eating. Then on through vineyard country on a back road up the Wairau River Valley. Some cars went a bit off road at one point (mistaking a stockbank hump for a bridge – as you do!) PAGE 18
on to a riverbed road which ran parallel to the road they were meant to be on. Luckily no problems were encountered and they re-joined the correct road further up. Some quite enjoyed the challenge. Our next stop was at an interesting Land Rover/Range Rover plus memorabilia collection (where it was rumoured one member made a large purchase!). Some had lunch here while others continued to The Vines Village where there was a lovely quilting shop which also stocked merino knitwear (probably not for the men this one) although I did hear some had a wine tasting. Then the Makana Boutique Chocolate Factory was on the list to see and the interesting antique and collectables shop “Just Browsing”. Final destination was the Omaka Aviation Heritage Museum to see the more recent World War II exhibition which was very good. This was a relaxed amble through Blenheim countryside on a lovely day with time for a natter and plenty of points of interest to see en route.
Dinner on Saturday night was enjoyable at the combined Clubs of Marlborough in Blenheim which had music and a line dancing demo going on. No problems getting home on Sunday that were heard of, another lovely day, although the organiser’s car did not make the return journey home until Tuesday on the back of a car trailer. Thank you to Murray and Judy Collins for the ride home. Landrover/Range Rover collection, Blenheim.

MOTORCYCLE REPORT To open this month’s notes I want to share with you an email I received from Trevor Lightfoot – here it is in its entirety: “Hi, I would like to thank our VCC Canterbury motorcyclists who responded to Chris Leith’s email to you all for help and advice for my friend’s 1957 197 cc Francis Barnett which had major gearbox problems. I received seven replies –all with brilliant and relevant information which I have passed onto him. He doesn’t do emails! But he has received all the replies thru his son’s e-mail and I believe he may have eventually solved the issues with a new gear from the UK. I haven’t heard from him recently, but this is a very large thank you from him and me to both Chris Leith and all you guys, for such a great response. Isn’t the VCC Canterbury motorcycle section just amazing with its depth of knowledge and contacts. Regards Trevor Lightfoot VCC Canterbury Branch PS: I would like this published as the motorcycle section goes largely unsung and this truly was a great response quite beyond any expectations I had. I am an occasional motorcyclist on my 1928 BSA Sloper, I have ridden since 1972, otherwise I motor vintage Standard cars.” Thank you, Trevor, very much appreciated.

PAST EVENTS
2nd November, Annual Motorcycle Rally. A small field of 22 riders enjoyed a very well run event in brilliant weather. See elsewhere for a write-up and list of trophy winners.
20th November, Noggin Night. This was a week later than normal as a tour of the manufacturing company CWF Hamilton Ltd – makers of the Hamilton Jet units - were manufacturing their larger units and it was felt we should have the opportunity to see these. About 33 members and guests were given a comprehensive introduction to the company then given a guided tour of the whole plant. A very good noggin night; many thanks to Roger Able for organising.
24th November, Homestead Run. Something like 85 cars turned out for this event, very ably organised and run by Jens Christensen, Mike Glenday and Phil Jeeves of the motorcycle committee. A beautiful day, with two homesteads, being Gebbies Homestead near Gebbies Pass and Graigforth Homestead at Pigeon Bay, visited. No doubt will be reported on in full elsewhere.
30th November, Fish & Chip Run. Out to Leeston, to take in a shed of “automobile memorabilia” of the nth degree… Report next month.
FUTURE EVENTS
11th December – Motorcycle Christmas Noggin. Held in the Barn, $15 a head, being catered by the Club Caterers. Must know numbers, so please advise Phil Jeeves at philipjeeves21@gmail.com or cell 022 025 9924. Partners very welcome, pay on the night.
2nd January 2020, New Year Run. Meet at Motorcycle Corner, Macleans Island, 10.00 am. To find out where we will go, turn up and find out!!
25th January, Fish & Chip Run. Nothing organised by way of a special destination BUT… we have decided to try a new meeting place that of the BP Petrol Station on Moorhouse Ave, corner with Antigua Street. It was felt that this would be a more central place to meet and from which to go in any direction. Of course, they do have coffee at the petrol station too…… Meet 10.15 am for a 10.30 am departure.

GARY ARPS Rally Report
ANNUAL MOTORCYCLE Rally ABOUT 25 ENTRANTS LINED UP AT CUTLER PARK FOR THE START, SEEMS A LOT OF OUR MOTORCYCLISTS WERE A BIT TOO TIRED TO GET ORGANISED THIS YEAR, THEY MISSED A GREAT DAY.
Following the usual briefing from Phil Jeeves, it was question time, with a line up of general knowledge questions; all easy until the brain switches off. Then, right on time each of us left the Island, probably the only time we were “on time” all day. Our route went out to Pound Road, Havills/ Guys roads to Yaldhurst. Then to the Curletts / Motorway junction, where those on the long route went left for a run over the hill to Governors Bay and Gebbies Pass. Myself and others on the medium run went right, at the Springs Road junction we encountered a road closure resulting from an accident the previous day. A quick study of the next few instructions, and it was ‘round the block via Shands Road to Prebbleton, Ladbrooks and Tai Tapu. Then via River Road to Coes Ford and The Lake Road to Leeston and Dunsandel before turning back to Rolleston. PAGE 22

3 NOVEMBER 2019
At the lunch stop we parked up on the lawn beside the fuselage of a Boeing 737. Lunch was in a shed set up as an American Diner. Shed is not really the right word, lots of seating, and much automotive paraphernalia on the walls. Lunch over it was time to inspect the huge shed full of cars, motorcycles and much more. Then to cap the visit, it was off to have a look at the 737. I expected it would be a stripped hulk, but could not have been more wrong. Inside was the most deluxe, sumptuous and over the top interior it is possible to put in an aircraft. When some additions and renovations are complete this will be moved to a site at Springfield, where it will be available for hire. That evening we returned to the shelter at the club grounds for a meal in a picnic environment, along with prize giving. A very pleasant end to a beautiful bay Thanks to Phil and Marietta, and helpers Mike, Jan, Royce, Mark and Les for one of our best events. A special thank you to John for opening up his Rolleston property for us.

World’s first motorcycle with electric start More than one hundred years ago the world was introduced to electric start motorcycles. Indian innovators produced a 6 volt starting and lighting system with coil ignition. The starter-generator was
mounted in front of the engine. A voltage regulator was included in the package, first fitted to the Indian “Hendee Special” as early as 1914.

9-90’s REPORT John Winchester organised this one and a great run it was. We went to Mt Somers and Staveley where we had a talk with slides about the district. It was a memorable day I will not forget. My widow wagon decided at Mt Somers that it would not go any further. We think it was a fuse. We don’t know yet but like the good car it is, it stopped not far from Bruce McIlroy’s garage. As you can imagine, at lunch time, much banter went on and someone, with tongue in cheek, suggested that I should use the raffle money for the repair. But being Dutch of course, I couldn ‘t do that. We were overwhelmed with offers to get us home from people who lived from Belfast to Darfield but thankfully Brian Read who lives around the corner took us home and Jack Porter took care of our passenger. I thank
you all for your help and encouragement and John for organising a great day and good weather. The calendar for next year is full. Grant Lomax is organising the February Outing starting at the Belfast Pub at 9.55am. The Christmas Lunch is fully booked and I apologise to the people who wanted to come but there is no more room at the inn. Those who have booked meet at Pineacres at 11.30am for 12 noon. Last, but not least, a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous and Healthy 2020 to all our friends and enemies. We are looking forward to 2020. JK and the team.

COMMERCIAL REPORT For the November Commercial Noggin a smallish group visited Christchurch Airport Rescue Fire, for a look around the building and fire-fighting machinery. Thanks to the helpful staff on duty for showing us around and for the use of their facilities for supper. The staff also provided some history of the airport and the items around the station, and thanks also to Barry Elcock for providing supper. The demonstration of their latest fire-fighting appliance was impressive, particularly the extendable roof mounted boom with aircraft skin penetrating spike that can empty several thousand litres of water in a few minutes.
NEIL SHASKEY Commercial Convenor Entry form for the Annual Commercial rally on 22 Feb 2020 is in this issue of the Hub, there will be a reminder in February along with further details. Plan for the day is a morning run starting from North Canterbury to a country lunch stop, followed by a shorter return run to afternoon tea and prize-giving.
As published in the November Hub, the annual Commercial Section Christmas BBQ is on 11 December from 5:30pm, hosted by Mark Drury at 7 Birkenhead St, Avonhead. Please bring something to drink, something to cook on the BBQ, and a salad to share, partners very welcome.

VELOSOLEX OWNERS GROUP
ROYCE VOG 1
(VOG’s) November 2019 run There’s nothing more awesome than the sound of a “swarm” of Velosolex’s at full song cruising along the roads on a magical November morning. What’s this guy on you’ll all be thinking but believe me when our highly tuned machines are following along in close proximity the pitch of the engines sounds almost as good as a squadron of Mustang airplanes flying overhead. Maybe not quite as much horsepower developed but to the VOG team who cares it’s the enjoyment to be out with a team of fellow enthusiasts of these little gems that counts. Our November run launched off from the peace and tranquillity of Ashgrove Tce. But this solitude was soon to be blown as we headed out onto Cashmere Rd and around the foot of the hills toward St Martins and onwards to Woolston. Crikey we were dicing with death around these roads you sure felt very vulnerable competing with cars, trucks and the odd bus thrown in as well, you can be rest assured we all kept well to the left. Our visit this month was to Retro Cars on Garlands Rd we’ve been here before but this time we were hosted by the manager Richard Foot who explained to us the work that was being done on the various vehicles they currently have there for restoration or mechanical repairs, they sure carry out an extensive range of work. Richard also explained that they do valuations on Classic vehicles for insurance purposes, I suddenly realised that maybe my MGB was under insured PAGE 28

– worth thinking about. A good hour was spent here at Retro looking around the stock of large American automobiles on sale, sure wouldn’t like to park any of these in your local supermarket carpark, and talk about from the ridiculous to the sublime there was even a little Datsun 120Y on display very tidy but very miniscule beside the Lincoln Continental parked nearby. Thanks to Richard for his time and interesting talk. From Retro it was off to the Valley Inn at Heathcote for the lunch break and “yak session”, local Heathcote residents and
long time VOG members Bob Kinnaird and Dave Backhouse navigated a safe passage for us to this destination. With 12 November being NZ Trotting Cup day there were several patrons at the Valley Inn all dressed very smartly indeed and all glued to the several TV screens watching to see if they had won a fortune – or not. The VOG’s did manage to find a quiet area to enjoy a sumptuous repast of toasted sammies, loaded wedges and the good ole favourite the basket of chips. Our numbers grew once again this

month as we welcomed VCC member Barry Browning to our flock. I think Barry enjoyed it as he is now actively looking for a Velosolex. Organiser and winner of the Trophy this month was Alistair Wright, would you believe it he was waiting at the wrong end of Ashgrove Tce for the start of the run, that man deserved the trophy. But well done for organising another beaut’ day out and making the right noises to stop the rain that had persisted down on Monday 11th.

THE HUB report The chaos of taking over a new role is gradually subsiding as the second issue of the Hub that I have been involved with has gone to print and now the electronic version is being prepared. I appreciate your patience as we continue to develop and refine the use of technology in the distribution of the Hub and other branch notices – please be aware that the Hub continues to be printed as well as being distributed electronically. There are many members of our club who do not have access to email and so the printed version of the Hub remains our primary source of communication. Members who receive the Hub via email will continue to receive the printed copy unless you contact the Branch Secretary (canterbury@vcc.org. nz) or unsubscribe in the email that you receive with the online version of the Hub. CLUB EMAILS REMINDERS Recently you will have received a couple of email rally reminders sent from the Hub Editor on behalf of the branch. These have been sent in cases where the rally or event entry numbers are less than expected or we have extended entry deadlines. We will not be sending huge amounts of email to our members – it is not our intention to flood your email inbox as I’m sure that Briscoes and Repco already have that sorted! Email is an easy and economical way to send reminders and urgent messages to our members who do have access to this. Included in the emails we send you is an option to unsubscribe to all or some PAGE 30

of the emails we send – this is a work in progress. At this stage the options you can unsubscribe from are: • rally reminders (you will not receive reminders to upcoming branch events) • the newsletter (click this if you no longer want to receive the hub via email - remember you can receive the Hub by both post and email, the email version arrives a lot earlier) • global unsubscribe (you will not receive any emails from the VCCNZ Canterbury Branch). As we continue to refine our email systems there may be other unsubscribe groups that we develop – your feedback is welcome on any of these developments. If for any reason you have received an email you think you should not have please contact me directly via email: vccthehub@gmail.com EDITORIAL COPY FOR THE HUB Your contributions to the newsletter are very welcome – good quality photos with captions are always received as well as news of interesting projects and events. Email us on vccthehub@gmail.com Deadline for receipt of copy for our February issue is 29 January although we do love receiving things early! I wish you all a Merry Christmas and look forward to hearing from a few new keen contributors in the New Year.

Tom Clements, our most senior Branch member, recently celebrated his 90th birthday. Tom’s son-in-law, David French, delighted those present with his Ode to Tom. We reproduce an abridged version here for your enjoyment.
An Ode to Tom to Celebrate His 90th Birthday … In 1949 he joined the VCC Canterbury Branch Inc together with his peers, And at a recent club function he was honoured for being a member for over seventy years He and his cobbers they laboured for years to clear that dry and stony land, And no one did more to establish that club than Tom’s ever helping hand He was always a dab hand at raising funds for the building of “The Barn,” And he’s always had the gift of the gab for spinning a damn good yarn Those early members were there every spare hour and hardly saw their homes, Doing working B’s, fundraising events or just picking up those bloody stones But it was supposedly the love of cars that drew them all together, Driving old cars with the hood down no matter what the weather
Their commitment then was very strict, their passion was truly strong, You had to give the club your very all, if you wanted to belong Vintage cars are an obsession in these parts and their following has never diminished, Some members have worked on their cars for years with no hope of seeing them finished The Vintage car era in the automotive world was a time of great transition, The crank handle method of starting your car was replaced by electronic ignition But whatever it is about these cars that draw and captivate so many, The joy and pleasure that it brings makes the costs worth every penny Tom has enjoyed his 70 years of membership and active participation, And he feels a sense of pride in having been part of the club’s creation…
