Effects of Clean Car Standard on Vehicle Enthusiast Sector
The National President has circulated a press release from the Low Volume Vehicle Technical Association (of which the VCC is a member) explaining what’s going on in relation to the Clean Car Standard and the Clean Car Discount, and to dispel some of the misinformation that’s doing the rounds on social media. This is too large to repeat here but can be read at:
https://www.lvvta.org.nz/media-items/2022-0215_Effects_of_Clean_Car_Std_on_Vehicle_Enthusiast_Sector.pdf The first paragraph of the summary reads as follows: “LVVTA is currently engaging with the Federation of Motoring clubs, The Vintage Car Club of NZ, and the NZ Hot Rod Association to provide some co-ordinated assistance to the Ministry. The intention of the four groups who are working together is to collectively assist the Ministry in determining how best the various vehicle types should be defined, so that the exemptions provided in the new Clean Car Standard will enable the Government to achieve its objective of improving the overall fleet, however without compromising the ability of our very small enthusiast sector to continue to enjoy the enthusiast car hobby.”
Grounds Maintenance Team
Mike Foster could do with some help with the maintenance of our grounds. How about joining the small, friendly team who keep the place looking so good. Plenty of fresh air, personal space very healthy etc just what you need!
First Sunday and Third Tuesday morning Every Month.

Dutton Garage Malvern Run
Anzac Day Monday 25th April 2022
Thanks to Dutton Garage for their continuing support of the Malvern Run. Assemble from 10.00am at the Darfield Recreation Centre where your rally pack and lunch will be available. Please park where instructed however because of current Covid19 restrictions, it is uncertain whether the usual advertised car display will be able to take place. The route travels on secondary roads (no shingle, easy veteran motoring) through the Malvern District and passes the War Memorials of Darfield, Sheffield, Hororata, Glen Roy and Glentunnel. (A shorter route will be in place for slower Veterans). Feel free to stop and pay your respects with a poppy at each Cenotaph. Distance is approx. 50 miles (80ks) from the start back to Darfield. Lunch stop will be at the Glentunnel Community Centre. The featured vehicles are those built during the war years and a Duttons medal will be presented at the start to vehicles 100 years and over. For those wishing to trailer veterans to the start there is plenty of trailer parking available at the start. Because of Covid19 restrictions, entries will be limited to 50 vehicles with any vehicle produced after 1945 participating in a support category. Lunch this year will again be supplied by the famous Darfield Bakery and your order will be available at the start. Come and join us on what is a very special day, remembering those that made the ultimate sacrifice and doing it in cars and on motorcycles that they would recognise.
For more information contact Malcolm McGibbon 027 433 8047 or the Veteran Convener Colin Hey 021 883 807
A Vaccination Pass is a requirement of this run and must be presented before collection of rally pack.
