Motorcycle Report

March – The Ides of March – Seasons of Mists and Mellow Fruitfulness… – officially the first month of autumn! Winter is on its way; get over it!!

Past Events.

9th February – Noggin Night. This was well attended, with Pete from Dan Ornsby’s Ride Forever motorcycle courses giving a very well received talk on his background and just what the object of the courses were, and generally giving the course set down for 19th March a bit of a boost.

13th February – Moped Run. This was a complete wash-out, hosing down rain all day, and nobody turned up… 19th February – Clip-on Run. See elsewhere for the write-up by John Benn. Thanks John!!

26th February – Fish and Chip Run – Cancelled in favour of the Branch Annual Rally. This was to encourage motorcyclists to take part in the Annual Rally, but I’m not sure that was a success. Last time I heard there were several that had entered –in their VCC eligible cars, but only six on bikes…

Future Events

4 – 5 – 6th March – Jim Toohey Run. To the West Coast. Leaving Friday 4th , accommodation reserved at the Recreation Hotel, Greymouth. On the Saturday a good run is being organised, out and back, but will be weather dependent. Home Sunday to Ch Ch, via Arthurs Pass. A backup will be provided. 9th March – Noggin Night. Meeting outside Armadillo Café, Prebbleton, 6.00pm, for a ride to the Crate and Barrel in Leeston for a pub meal. Home in own time after. 19th March – Ride Forever Course, Dan Ornsby. More details to come, will be an email out about this closer to the time, and so look out for it. 26th March – Fish and Chip Run. Starting PMH 10.00am for a 10.15 departure. We will travel to Lyttelton to view a large collection of cars and ‘bikes and then head on to Leeston for some more.

9th April – Scooter Run. Originally planned for 16th April, but date changed to take it away from Easter. Organiser is John Benn, with Graham Barnett helping. More details in the April Hub, but keep this date free!

10th April –

‘P’ Group – Annual Rally (to Arthurs Pass). A good day is planned, look out elsewhere in The Hub for more details.

13th April – Noggin Night. This will be in The Barn; we have a couple of speakers organised who were on the construction team for the Britten Motorcycles. They’ll give a talk on their experiences.

30th April – Fish and Chip Run. Most likely be a ride to Ashburton to take in the Ashburton Air Museum at the air field. The word is this is one of the best displays of its type in the country, so well worthy of the effort to get there.
