Luna Tree was established in 2007 by Clare McCormack. Clare had previously worked in retail management and as a buyer for a multiple store Fair Trade gift and homewares business. Initial contacts with the village and the silversmiths were made over several years during her buying trips in South East Asia . The beautiful jewellery and the silversmiths creativity was something that stayed with Clare long after her buying trips had ended!

Clare works closely on the designs with the silversmiths on her visits to Thailand. Many designs are pure Clare. Some designs are a mix of Clare’s ideas and the silversmiths creativity. While some are pure Karen Hill Tribe designs. Not quashing their creativity is something which is very close to the central focus of the business, along with the Fair Trade ethics on which Luna Tree is run.

Luna Tree has been a proud member of BAFTS- |Fair Trade Network UK since 2009. Luna Tree champions a Fair Trade ethos and the 10 principles of Fair Trade at the heart of the business.

Herbipaws was born in summer 2019 and officially launched in January 2020.

Herbipaws was established after Caroline had an epiphany; we think carefully about the food we put into our own bodies, but then naturally accept regular store-bought food for our dogs. Upon researching the ingredients of many mainstream foods and treats (and being both disappointed and concerned by these) Caroline set out to produce her own dog food, for her own dogs, and to source treats with no harmful ingredients.

With a range of treats from large to small, hard to soft, Herbipaws truly offer something for everyone. All treats are made of plant-based ingredients with no harmful chemicals, additives, artificial colourings or flavourings. They are produced using quality processes and with love and care for the value of the products. Aiming to keep prices down to allow for great value for money, to support a network of healthy dogs who are able to thrive.

Gen V make some fabulous clothes for vegans – but not only are the designs great, so is the processing:

“Wastewater from dyehouse effluent is a major source of pollution in the clothing industry. Where our fabrics are dyed, the water is recovered, cleaned and recirculated. After settling and skimming the water is filtered using reverse osmosis and distillation. This is basically sucking up water through really fine sand over and over, then boiling it.

Salt is added back in so that the dye adheres and all the cruddy mulchy stuff left over is dried out and used for road markings. About 95% of the water is recirculated and recovered.

At the end, the water coming out of the filters and going back round to be reused again is crystal clear, literally clean enough to drink. Once it has been cleaned it is then used at the input for the next batch. It is a closed loop system.”
