Being in love is an extraordinary feeling, and this is an exciting time of your life as you plan your wedding and venture into matrimony. Eighteen years ago, I married the love of my life, the man of my dreams, my soul mate. As we planned our wedding—which I wish I could do every year—I felt that my passion for weddings could culminate into something creative and valuable to other Wisconsin bridal couples. meet them,” he admits. “And I get to share with them how SBD can help with so many aspects of entertainment.” Once you’ve received an overview of Sound By Design’s capabilities from Torie, you’ll establish a personal relationship with Dylan Brudny, the Director of Client Services. “I provide couples with a carefree experience once they come on board with us,” he explains. “Planning a wedding can be a daunting task, and my goal is to make the entertainment side as easy as possible, from helping the Lighting Division design the reception room or recommending vendors.” With the family-oriented baseline that is Sound By Design’s mantra, Dylan strives to make couples feel like part of that family as well. “You should never feel like a number,” he says. “We’ll stay away from the gimmicks and let the music do the talking.” Paul, looking at the business from over 20 years in the industry, also advises couples to be budget conscious about your wedding at all times, “But make sure you allocate your funds to the most important areas. CATERING YOUR SPECIAL DAY AT MANY LOCATIONS!
Introducing Generation II 34 years ago, Scott Shully, a European trained chef, and his wife, Beth, took their combined talents in design and dining to create Shully’s Cuisine & Events. Since then, it has grown into a full-fledged family business with the addition of their children. Although they grew up in the industry, all three Shully children took separate career paths before creating the dynamic team they are today. Hadley trained as a chef in New York, Italy, Sicily and Chicago, and is now showcasing her natural talent for showmanship and creative cuisine in Shully’s kitchen. Nina took her organizational and event management skills from her time spent as a teacher and YMCA Camp Director to help with event planning and staging and Jacob’s Major League Baseball marketing experience is being put to work managing the many facets of Shully’s. With over three decades of experience, Shully’s Cuisine & Events has mastered the artistry of the details. It’s this expertise that lends to their seamless execution of off-premise catering. An event site hosts its own unique attributes and considerations. Everything from the weather, to the electrical, to the equipment, to the décor, to the menu are accounted for and designed in a way that makes the event flow with cohesive ease. “You can’t go to school to learn the tricks of our trade,” Jacob Shully says. “It takes a seasoned professional to look at an event space and work out a plan that will work within a specific budget, and that’s where we excel.” As they continue to grow their repertoire, they’ve added to their real estate as well. Shully’s latest event space, ATS (Across the Street), is a cottage currently under renovation to hold smaller parties of up to 65 people. Additionally, it will host cooking demonstrations and parties like the “Iron Fork” and “Minced” competitions. Perfect for bachelor/bachelorette parties, rehearsal dinners or bringing families together for a night of fun leading up to the big day. This charming space on the Pigeon Creek makes for a perfect photo op and chance to bond with loved ones over food. Expansion of hosting spaces isn’t all that Shully’s is currently advancing. Upgrades to their beverage services will feature local craft brews, as well as additional bartender services. Their menu is also a constant reinvention to keep things fresh, extensive, and innovative. Vegetarian and vegan menus, kosher menus, and dietary strict menus like gluten-free are a huge emphasis so they can cater to the many needs of their clientele, with the ability to meet various budgetary levels without sacrificing quality or standards. Of particular excitement is their new, fully mobile meat smoker that will open new opportunities for their BBQ themed subdivision “Three Pigs.” When it comes to creating a tailor-made event, Shully’s Cuisine & Events is a true custom caterer. They pride themselves in creating menus that fit their clients’ desires and see each opportunity as a blank canvas that can be filled with all of your favorite foods, experiences and personality. It’s official—you’re engaged! No amount of chick flicks or fantasies could prepare you for that moment your beloved got down on one knee. Your new bling has hundreds of “likes” on Facebook, and you can’t help but stare at it whenever the light catches it just right. As you scroll through Pinterest and bombard your wedding board with dozens of ideas, you think you have this planning game in the bag…until you realize you have no idea where to start. Don’t hit the panic button! We’ve got you covered.
Know Your Finances
It’s easy to get swept up into the excitement of planning a wedding. Before you dive in, lay out your budget. Family may be helping pay for portions of the day, and if that is the case you’ll want to have a candid conversation at the onset about what they have budgeted for you and what that budget is intended for. Communicating your needs with their expectations will alleviate tension early on and keep you and your fiancé within your means so you can enjoy this day instead of having it financially cripple you. Once you have a budget determined, you’ll want to set aside a “safety net” for any unexpected costs that may come up, as well as a small reserve for tips for your vendors.
Manage Expectations
Let’s face it, you’ve probably been envisioning your wedding day far longer than your fiancé. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have ideas for what he would like your celebration to look like. Sit down with your budget and discuss what areas are most important to each of you. From there, consult one another before any final decisions are made. His input may be “it doesn’t matter to me” for some details, but giving him the chance to be included sends a strong message to him about how much you value him.
Who, When & Where
Now that you’ve communicated expectations, you can begin digging into planning. Your guest list will be important in knowing what venues you can consider based on capacity size of the space. You don’t need an exact number, but know what your maximum head count will be so each location you visit can help decide if they can accommodate your needs. Many venues book up well in advance, so you’ll want to find your location as soon as possible. You may have a specific date in mind you’d like for your big day, but be willing to be flexible if you dream location is already booked on that date. Likewise, you may need to veto a venue if the date is a deal breaker. Know which is more important to you—the date or the place—and proceed accordingly.
Memory Makers
When it comes to making memories, the caterer and entertainment set the mood for the evening and will be talked about for years to come, and the photographer/videographer will be the ones capturing it all through their lens. The gowns and tuxes should be planned out about 9 months in advance to allow enough time for ordering and alterations. While you will likely take the lead on a lot of the planning initiation, having your groom take ownership of menswear will eliminate a lot of undue stress to you. Plan a day that you can go with him to come to an agreement on colors and styles, and then let him coordinate the men from there.
Invitations & Registries
Once you have your guest list and date set, you can send out Save the Dates so your loved ones can plan ahead to celebrate with you. Actual invitations don’t need to go out until about 45-60 days prior to your date. It’s inevitable that you’ll have a handful of guests that will forget to send back their RSVP by the due date. Plan in an extra week for you and your fiancé to be able to follow up on any unknown RSVPs before your final guest count numbers are due to vendors. When it comes to the registry, starting early on isn’t a bad idea as some people will want to buy you a gift as early as your engagement party, but don’t feel pressured to create a more complete registry until the bridal shower invites are ready to go out. You’ll want to revisit your registry after your bridal shower to make sure wedding guests have enough of a selection of items at various price points to browse through. Plan as you may, there will be the inevitable surprise or two that comes up during the wedding day. However, you can help alleviate a lot of that unnecessary stress by creating a list of things to remember to bring with you on your wedding day, having an agenda printed for your bridal party, and noting any final payments or other vendor-related items that may require your attention. Always Knew It Would Be You Kyle and Rebecca had an instantaneous connection. After their first date, they became an inseparable pair that was destined for “I do.” “I knew there was something special about Rebecca the very first time I saw her,” Kyle says. “It wasn't long after our first date that I knew she was it.” That special connection is what led to their October wedding in 2018. It was classic romantic with some modern twists, as Rebecca describes it. “What really inspired our wedding theme was my dress. Before I found it, we were thinking of having a more laid back/casual wedding. Then I fell in love with a more formal wedding dress and that changed everything.”
Worth Every Penny I always thought it was silly to spend so much money on something you only wear once, but when I put my dress on that day I knew it was worth every penny. I felt like I always hoped I would on my wedding day. Must-Have Detail We both agreed that we wanted a band rather than a DJ at our wedding. The band was awesome and kept the dance floor packed all night. Key Resources One of the things I found most helpful when planning our wedding was talking to people who had recently gotten married and getting opinions on what the most important things at their weddings were and what they could have skipped. Also, I kept track of every dollar spent on a budgeting app. That really helped me to stay on track with our budget. Biggest Surprise The biggest surprise to us was how far out venues book up. We got engaged in September and were shocked to find that pretty much every venue was booked for that following summer. We wanted a fall wedding so luckily had some options, but a lot of the places we toured were booking two years out. Advice for Couples Our advice for marriage is to find someone that is on the same team as you. This may sound obvious, but when you go through tough times, you have to have each other's backs before anyone else's.

Because, if you’re hoping for a memorable wedding day, it’s all about the personality you bring to your day, and (most importantly) the guest experience. From the moment your guests enter the venue for cocktail hour, they are gathering impressions. Do they have to wait long for drinks? Where are the escort cards? Where will they sit? What’s for dinner? Think of your wedding guests as out-of-town folks visiting your venue for the first time. You want everything to be visual, accessible and fun for them! We recommend being thoughtful about the ‘flow’ of your reception. Making your guests’ experience intuitive and interesting. Plan out a fun welcome, like a champagne bar. These are trending now, and we see why! Displaying champagne on a cute wall or shelf is the perfect way to welcome guests to your reception, and
immediately set the mood. Work with your caterer, bartending service and planner to execute a champagne welcome that’s unique to you! Keep the fun & intrigue going as guests find their seats at your reception! Perhaps the escort cards are poked in little chocolates, or wrapped around a miniature bottle of your favorite liquor. As guests transition from one activity to the next, it delights them to find another ‘surprise.’ Even if your escort card/seating display isn’t edible or drinkable, it can be fun! Create a silly pun for your seating board, like “my life would suck without you,” with mini succulent favors for guests. The list goes on & on (see Pinterest), so brainstorm this with your planner or venue coordinator! Grazing food tables are still very much in, and offer another boost your guest experience at reception. Think of how colorful a grazing table; not to mention an absolute ice breaker for guests as they mingle with other folks filling their plates. And guess what? Grazing
tables aren’t just for charcuterie items. You can work with your caterer and planner to create an amazing chocolate and fruit grazing station, or an all desserts setup. Finally, think of your wedding reception as a whole. The majority of it is dancing and entertainment. A lot of thought should go into your entertainment for the evening. If you & your partner aren’t really into dancing, opt for a casual band or even plug in a playlist to a speaker. If you know that you want a DJ, be sure they really get you & your vibe. It’s easy to fill out a ‘do not play’ list, but ensuring your DJ really gets you as a couple is important. As the entertainment is rolling, have fun with sprinkling in surprises for your guests! Maybe your late night snack is Shake Shack, or you get a little rowdy with the Badger Band. Whatever the end of the night brings, make sure it’s significant to you as a couple. If you’re inserting your personalities into your wedding, then the guest experience will already be satisfactory!

Your wedding ceremony can be personalized and even (dare we say it) fun, even if it’s a religious ceremony in a church. We’ve put together 7 easy ways to authenticate your wedding ceremony, and make it memorable. So long stress! Get married at home There’s no rulebook as to where to host your wedding ceremony. Couples literally climb mountains and exchange vows in the clouds! So, what’s to say you can’t make your ceremony its most authentic and have it at home (or at a parent’s home)? Parties from bridal showers to bachelor/ ette parties, rehearsal dinners to receptions, a lot of venue considerations come into play. Before you jump into planning these events, you need to come prepared. We’ve compiled a Party Directory to help guide your search for the perfect venue, no matter the occasion, but first read on to learn more about what you should be considering along the way. First, consider how many people will be in attendance. You want to make sure that the space that is chosen to host the event will comfortably fit the guest list. Comfortably means making sure there is not only enough space to seat everyone, but also enough room for mingling and any activities that may take place. If you are having a bridal luncheon, for example, people will mostly be sitting at their tables or casually standing nearby to chat with other guests. At a bridal shower, however, space for a gift table will also need to be accounted for, as well as enough space for the gift opening to take place in. Likewise, a wedding reception will need to not only accommodate for guests and a gift table, but also a bar and dance floor. Go into your search for a location knowing what you will need to accommodate for so the venue can tell you what will and will not work.
Next, consider the atmosphere. The type of mood you will be setting with a bridal luncheon versus a bachelorette party will most likely be at opposite ends of the spectrum. You want to have a location that no only is conducive to the atmosphere you want your party to have, but
that your party is also conducive to that space. A third thing to consider is the amenities. Things like bar service, entertainment and food offerings may be what makes or breaks your decision to opt for or against a location. Venues all have their own rules when it comes to caterers and bartenders. Before hiring a catering company, find out the rules of the venue you are using. They may require you use their in-house catering/menu
or a caterer they directly contract with. If you are keen on having a particular caterer, then you may need to look at a different location if your first choice has specific regulations. Bartenders are a similar topic to discuss. Do they have specific bartenders you can hire, or do you need to hire outside bartenders. What types of fees are associated with using the bar service? How long do you need bar service for? Have these questions answered ahead of time so when you visit the venue, you are prepared to cover all of your bases. Finally, come in with a budget. It is easy to get carried away planning an unforgettable night. The budget will keep you levelheaded so you don’t leave having spent more than you can afford. If price becomes an issue, see what types of suggestions the venue has. Depending on their years of experience, they have probably seen and heard it all by now. They are experts in the area of party planning, so voice your concerns ahead of time before they become an issue. Planning a party is something to take seriously because a lot gets invested into making sure your guests have a good time. What is the process? Once you've booked me for your date, you are welcome to provide me with any ideas and inspiration for your painting. As the date approaches, I will reach out to gather the details I need for the piece. On the wedding day, I will arrive to the reception site a couple hours early to get settled and begin the composition before guests arrive. As guests begin to arrive, I start adding the important details, creating the atmosphere of the evening. Typically, I am painting the bride and groom's first dance, or their ceremony/ reception venue with them included. You can decide whether you would like to have your guests painted in or left out as well as the pose you'd like to be painted in. My style is more impressionistic with loose brush strokes and vivid color. I aim for an expression of the event more than a realistic painting. I offer watercolor or acrylic mediums.
Katie Geis KATIE GEIS FINE ART Katie Geis is Milwaukee-based emerging artist and live event painter. She explores bold coloration, sweeping gestural brush strokes, and minuscule details in her work. Her mediums of choice vary between oil and watercolor as each provides its own artistic pleasures. Katie’s paintings bring alive the inherent quest to express something personal, in an ardently appealing way. Are you willing to travel? Yes, absolutely! Milwaukee, Wisconsin is home but I am happy to have a new adventure.
What inspires your creativity? From an early age I've always been attracted to light and the ambiance it creates in a space. The
different moods a room can assume has always fascinated me. I'm also drawn to moments of pure joy. To watch as a couple celebrates their lifelong commitment to each other surrounded by their closest friends and family is such a treat. It is an honor to be able to capture this as an artist and I find so much fulfillment in providing people with a spontaneous and true reflection of their fondest moments. How does live painting enhance the occasion? Painting live creates a memorable and unique experience for the people attending the wedding. It also provides quiet and reverent entertainment for those who may not particularly enjoy the dance floor, or who want to escape the claustrophobia of the crowd.

What types of multicultural wedding ceremonies have you done in the past? Past multicultural weddings have included Jewish, Pakistani, Persian and Serbian ceremonies. Why is the club focusing or highlighting these types of weddings? We have a unique space that can accommodate a large wedding, which is typical for the multicultural weddings. We also are more accommodating than most venues in regards to honoring traditions.

Tell us about the type of food diversity/customs for ethnic and or multicultural weddings, any trends that you are seeing or changes? Trends tend to follow the specific culture. One of my personal favorites is from the Serbian community. Each guest brings in a homemade dessert for the dessert station. How do you work with the couple and their families to incorporate different requests? This is a case to case basis. We look at which traditions are most important to the couple and the family and then see what we can accommodate.

It Was Perfect It was love at first sight for Grace the moment she locked eyes on Dane at 13 years old. Although it would take several years for them to open up about their feelings, it all proved to be well worth the wait. After a proposal overlooking the Pacific Ocean and months of planning their perfect day, the couple celebrated with an amazing celebration of love. As they look forward, the couple shares this bit of advice, “Just love each other, be there for each other, and listen to each other.”
Key Resource Janelle Meyer-Brown from événement was our wedding planner and was extremely helpful in getting every single thing ready for the big day. My (Grace’s) mom was also a huge help and was there every step of the way to make sure the day was everything we dreamed it would be. Both Janelle and my mom had the most incredible energy about everything, nothing ever felt like it got too stressful or overwhelming, they helped us feel like we just could relax, let go and enjoy the bliss of getting married Wedding Style I would say our wedding was classic and modern and creative. We were able to invite all our family and friends and celebrate our 13-year partnership with all our loved ones. It really felt like a dream. We got married in a beautiful theater in the Third Ward of Milwaukee called The Skylight, then had a New Orleans style second line parade (led by my friends and amazing musicians, Alvin, Reggie and Brandon, who are also in my band) from the ceremony along the River Walk as the sun was shining to the dinner at The Black Swan. Then we had our dancing and dessert reception at the rooftop of the Kimpton Journeyman Hotel, where we had ice cream sundae stations, popcorn, DJ Shawna on the ones and twos, and fire pits all around the outside deck. Must-Have Detail My must-have was live music for the ceremony. I’m a professional singer, so it’s always been a dream of mine to have my best friends from my music world sing and play at my wedding. We ended up having Elliott Skinner sing our favorite Alexi Murdoch song, with my bandmate Brandon Butler on keys, and our friend from summer camp, Kendall Dowsett, playing cello as I walked down the aisle. Dane’s must-haves were a family-style dinner and a second line parade.

PHOTOGRAPHY Front Room Studios Windy City Linen opened its doors in 2008 with just 2,500 square feet and three owners at the helm. They had no sales reps but themselves, and fulfilled deliveries in their cars until they hired their first full-time rep. Not long after their humble start, they moved to a new location in 2009 to meet client demands, but quickly outgrew that space and within two years had to obtain a new section bringing their total square footage to 15,000. And in 2016 they bought their first building, a much larger warehouse in Wheeling. Their larger space includes a beautiful showroom, as well as a sewing room so they can fabricate their own linens. And, they are still growing, especially in the Wisconsin market! Windy City recently added a new sales rep, Tera Stamm. Tera spent eight years in the industry as a hotel banquet manager, restaurant manager and special events coordinator at Miller Park. She also has four years in the linen rental field under her belt prior to joining Windy City Rentals. “I

needed to be hands on, creative and in an environment of change and excitement,” Tera says of her decision to go into the industry. “I truly believe in personal relationships. It is my first goal of any relationship to understand the client and get to know them
in order to then move onto their event needs. I enjoy listening to client’s ideas, their dreams and overall look for their event. It is important for me that they feel heard with my response in linen suggestions and service. These are my events as well and I take pride in each and every order,” Tera says. Tera joins sales rep Kathy Carlson, who
worked in the hospitality industry prior to joining the team. She formed relationships and transitioned through several roles over the course of her career before coming full circle to where she is today. “Wisconsin is a large territory to cover and Tera’s non-stop smiling approach to everything is so contagious she inspires me to work harder,” Kathy says of her new co-worker. Windy City Linen has been trusted with a variety of well-known clients: Make-A-Wish f o u n d a t i o n , Lollapalooza and Cars.com, to name a few. Their team has experience to handle any event, wedding or corporate, big or small. And although they are based in the Chicago area, Windy City Linen has moves business into Wisconsin to reach a unique market with a beautiful product at a very competitive price. Despite not being based in Wisconsin, they are no more expensive for a couple as a result. In fact, they have local production crews that
can set up and strike events, and delivery trucks are in the area twice each week. The addition of a new sales rep in Wisconsin is another boost in terms of client service. To assist out-of-town clients, they’ve set up a helpful, convenient swatch request tool on their website for brides interested in the fabulous Windy City Linen selection of colors and textures. Windy City Linen offers many beautiful and seasonal colors in their Classic, Lamour, Bengaline and Shantung Lines. They are constantly adding new items to their already sensational inventory. Their products aren’t the only boast-worthy part of what they do. Windy City Linen has been told time and again by clients that their customer service is the best amongst their competitors. Their knowledgeable staff and friendly nature lend to that stellar reputation. “A couple can expect to be assisted by a knowledgeable representative that can give them ideas on how linen will accent their event,” Kathy explains. “Sometimes the smallest things can be forgotten with so much planning to do, and we want to make that planning easier by being the expert on options, sizing, layouts, color combinations and any other assistance we can provide.” “I believe that a table cloth, napkin, runner or chair piece can become the canvas on which to build your perfect event look,” Tera says, offering advice to clients. “When choosing linens you can be creative. Find that one element of the event that you want to highlight and use table linens to enhance that look. Napkins can give a pop of color, a table runner can add texture or color that provides a unique added element. Table linens allow the focus of the room to be on the tables and not on the room carpet or wall color. Chair covers and chair enhancements bring in that final piece that ties the complete look together. Have fun with linens, play with different color schemes, different textures or introduce 2 or 3 different looks depending on the size of the event.”

An Explosion of Joy by Sydney Purpora “Come alive, come alive. Go and light your light, let it burn so bright. Reachin' up to the sky, and it's open wide - You’re electrified.” - Hugh Jackman, The Greatest Showman In the darkness below the stage, they stepped onto the platform and held hands. The platform began to rise and the two of them started to hear their entrance song “I Get to Love You” by Ruelle getting louder and louder. As they rose into the warm glow of the stage lights, they saw all of their months of planning and hard work come together to make this beautiful moment. But when they looked over at each other, they were overcome with emotions. David and Adam finally saw what the rest of their lives looked like — a future beaming with love. Rewind to New Year’s Day 2016, when both David and Adam were preparing for a blind date set up by a mutual friend. At this point in their lives, they had stopped looking for love and didn’t know if they

would ever find it. But, holding back their reservations, the two of them met at Onesto for dinner. By the end of the meal, they both knew they had found the one. For Adam, the connection was there right away because David was different than anyone else he had ever met. They were very similar in many ways but they had enough differences that would allow them to grow together. “After our first date and our dinner conversation, I wrote to our friend and said ‘I think I met my husband,’” Adam said. For David, he felt comfortable with Adam after the first few minutes. David, founder of Dynamic Events by David Caruso, is an accomplished and respected event designer and wedding planner. Over the years he has witnessed countless couples say “I do, so when it came to finding the one for him, he knew it would be someone who understood and accepted him for who he is — Adam did just that. “For the first time in my life and having dated other people, I felt the most sure, the most confident, and the most calm about him as a person and how we were as a couple,” David said. “I really never felt hesitant or untrustworthy or unsure, it was always just something that I completely was confident about in my mind, in my heart, and in my spirit.” While they were dating, the two of them made it a priority to support each other and be involved in major life moments. So when it came to planning the big day, despite David’s industry experiences, they both wanted to play a role in the process. It was entirely a collaboration and every element, from the flowers to the music to the detailed decor, echoed their personalities. Although the two wanted to have the best of the best for their wedding, they both agreed that their love is what fuels their fire and they wanted to share that powerful feeling with their friends and family. “We both agreed that the number one priority was to create an experience that really was mostly focused on how our story would make our guests feel,” David said. “Giving them a celebration that would be equally as memorable for them as it was for us.” In order to capture this experience in one day, the wedding was split into four parts. It started with the guests boarding a chartered limo bus with no knowledge of where they were headed and then arriving at the Pabst Theater for the awe-inspiring yet intimate ceremony. From there, they enjoyed drinks and hors d’oeuvres at an elegant cocktail hour. Guests were then bused back to the Hilton Milwaukee City Center for a formal and extravagant dinner. Following the dinner, guests ended the evening with drinks, music, and dancing in a space embellished with magnificent decor and showstopping entertainment. Every inch of space was adorned with perfectly curated elements that wowed every guest and reflected the evolution of their love. With unique entertainment, extravagant decor, and lavish food and drinks, the celebration was screaming with excitement. “At the end of the night, we wanted people to be exhausted because of how fun it was, how special it was and how emotionally joyful it was,” David said. Their relationship felt right from the beginning, David said. Everything from their daily conversations to their heartfelt moments together came naturally and was never overwhelming. Meeting Adam caused him to realize what it feels like to want to marry someone and make a commitment of a lifetime to one person. “I never expected to get married,” David said. “Then that day during that entire evolution of it all, I was always reminded how lucky I was to have been put in the presence of Adam and knowing that it was what I should be doing.”

What are trends being seen in ladies’ wedding bands? We are seeing a trend in ladies’ bands moving away from matching the engagement ring. You may still need a “conforming” band to fit under or around your center stone, but we can achieve both looks. sitions,” said Jaclyn Millonzi, owner of Fresh Coast Events. “This also has allowed us to be in tune with other vendors we work with to ensure a seamless process for them as well.” The team provides services for coordination and management, planning, and styling, but they can fill almost any wedding or event planning need. Everything from picking vendors to event design to RSVP tracking, the staff works with every couple to determine their needs and create a plan tailored to them. Fresh Coast Events’ planner Angela LeGear says she finds joy in her work because she gets to turn clients’ visions into reality by learning the unique style of each couple and embellishing every detail with a little hint of their personality. Millonzi says Fresh Coast Events also offers this short-term service to give couples reassurance in their investment and to provide the satisfaction of a beautiful and effortless event. “With weddings becoming such a large investment, hiring a professional to guide and consult with makes sense, and is a small piece of what you pay for peace of mind on such a monumental day,” Millonzi said. We caught up with the woman behind the business out of pure curiosity. With so many weddings under her belt and a network of reliable vendors, Danielle’s proved to be an interesting brain to pick. We chatted over coffee and asked her some of our burning questions.

When did you know you wanted to be a wedding planner? It was right after I attended my second cousin’s big, Italian wedding in high school. I was completely hooked; and making good progress until the Jennifer Lopez movie came out. Then, everyone wanted to be a wedding planner, and I switched to something more realistic. But the wedding world pulled me in! During college & upon graduating from Marquette, I dedicated 9 years to event planning; 6 of which have been spent producing really lovely weddings.

Outsourcing all the vendors, alone, can be a daunting task - especially if you’re unfamiliar with the area or industry. What is your current favorite color combination? A handful of my 2020 couples are really having some fun with color! I’m loving the rust orange + mustard earth neutrals. Also really feeling English rose (in velvet)! Why ‘Rosewood’ Weddings? I get this question a lot! ‘Rose’ is a family name passed down from the women in my Italian clan. My middle name is Rose, and so
is my daughter’s. With that, I always knew that I wanted my business to have that familial foundation. Adding in the word ‘wood’ was really just my way of pulling in the love of nature. What tips can you give couples who are in the midst of planning? Trust your vendors! You booked them for a reason, so trust them to come through for you so that you can relax a bit. Obviously budgets aren’t fun, but they’re your planning foundation so get all the nitty gritty details out there right away, and move forward. Once you know your budget and general style, you can source a great team of vendors - perfect for your authentic day. Also, hire a wedding planner if you haven’t. Shameless plug.
Why do your clients choose you over others? I firmly believe that there’s a planner for every client! And with plenty of talented planners in our area, it really works out nicely the way my clients find me. Perhaps they’re drawn to my warmth and personality? I’m serious about what I do, but I don’t take myself too seriously. My couples have mentioned being drawn to my calm demeanor. I also bribe people with homemade sugar cookies. What are some of your guilty pleasures? Netflix, cheese, chocolate, boxed wine. I’m only human. What’s your favorite part of working with brides & grooms? It’s nearly impossible to answer questions like these without sounding trite - but truthfully, I love their stories. I love watching them interact with each other during our meetings. I love their ‘way’s with one another. I love seeing them work together and inserting their personalities into their wedding. I love their PDA. What would you tell couples who don’t think they need a planner? I would advocate education. Most brides have been thinking about their wedding day since they were little girls. Dreams of the perfect dress, delicious cake and ornate décor dance around in our heads for years before we meet “the one.” When the day comes that the love of our life asks us to marry them, the idea of planning a wedding seems so natural. But as easy as it was for our childhood fantasies to take flight, reality quickly grounds a bride as the list of to-dos begins to grow. Before you press the panic button, take a step back from jumping headfirst into intensive planning and look to the ultimate wedding resource available to the modern-day bride. Bridal shows are the best place to let your eyes and intuition guide you. Instead of having to spend countless hours of time and energy researching, calling and meeting with a myriad of vendors separately, a bridal show gives you the opportunity to meet with numerous experts for every facet of your wedding day under one roof in a single afternoon. Once you determine which show(s) you want to attend, take time to prepare so you can make the most out of this incredible opportunity. Start by printing off a list of vendors that will be there so you can highlight those you absolutely want to speak with. Then, come up with a general list of questions you can ask each vendor for a specific need (i.e. florists, ca-

terers, DJs, etc.). After the show, filter through all of the information that was handed out to you, keep those you want to learn more about, and review the notes you took when speaking with vendors. You can easily compare their answers to figure out what you like and don’t like, discover new ideas you never would’ve thought up on your own and figure out whom you want to do a follow-up meeting with. By now you will most likely have a good grasp on who you “clicked” with, and can drastically narrow down the field of vendors you will take the time to have an individual meeting with post-show. Besides doing your due diligence to collect information while you are at the show, it’s equally important to let your intuition guide you. Vendors will have a display set up showcasing their unique styles and services. It can be visual overload, but if you stay focused you can begin to see what you are drawn to and better envision what you want your wedding day to look and feel like. Don’t be afraid to tell them when something doesn’t match the style you are going for. A true professional will be accommodating and have a different sample to show you, or perhaps even give you a recommendation of someone they feel is a better match for the specific need you are looking to fulfill.
If you are too intimidated to talk to vendors right off the bat, try easing your way into the process by speaking with other brides in attendance. You can gain insight from someone that is in the same boat as you, and get advice from their own time spent researching. Who knows, they may be doing something unique at their wedding that you might consider for yourself as well. Finally, make sure you stop by the Veil Magazine booth or check your gift bags for the latest issue of Veil Magazine. When you think about it, your stationery is really the first peek guests get into your wedding day. Starting with your save the dates, a major lead into your wedding invitations, you’ll definitely want to make it cute, memorable, and very ‘you.’ So, where should you start? Because you want your invitations to really shine, we’ve got everything you need to take it to press! It’s a common misconception that your invitations have to match your save the dates. You don’t have to keep everything cohesive if you don’t want to! What’s most important is to have your invitations really set the tone, and stay in line with your overall wedding style and design. Along with listing out your name, wedding location and time, you’ll want to specifically include your own style. The invitation should have subtle hints to the type of event you’re throwing - classic and
elegant or clean and modern, etc. Before you even begin shopping for stationery, you can imagine how you’ll want the invitation to look. There is no right way to decide what will guide the feel of your invitations. A typical starting point for couples is to incorporate their color scheme from other elements of the wedding. Every Moment With You is Perfect Breanne and Keith met at a Lakefront Brewery tour set up by a mutual friends. Being the only two who ended up going on the tour out of a group, it ended up becoming an unplanned set up. Shortly after this set up, they went on their first planned date – antique furniture shopping. They ended up buying a couch and they still have it in their apartment today. They both knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together after a long camping road trip when they realized they never got sick of the “together” time. Every moment together felt natural between the two of them and came effortlessly — that is how they knew they had found the one.

Once you’ve chosen a headpiece and your bridal gown, you should start thinking about what hairstyle and makeup will most flatter your overall wedding look. As a general rule you’ll want to wear more makeup than you normally do. It is a long day and sweat and tears are all hard on your face. If these ring all too true, then boudoir may be the answer you never thought you were looking for! Before you crawl into a hole and cover yourself with the blanket sitting next to you, hear us out. Boudoir doesn’t have to be scary or intimidating, in fact it is quite the opposite! It is an opportunity to let an artisan take what comes naturally to you and highlight it in a sensational way. Best of all, it gives your husband-to-be a keepsake he will never want to take his eyes off of. Boudoir photography is more than just scantily clad pictures; it is an experience. From the staging and lighting to the outfits and atmosphere, every session is uniquely tailored to the desires, comfort level and persona of the bride. Tegan Jae, owner of The Paper Elephant, believes in the boudoir experience so much that she includes it in her wedding photography packages. “I love that boudoir photography combines fashion and editorial with empowerment and dressing up. It allows me to play around with fun lighting techniques and poses for all different body types, and to connect with my clients on a deeper level. They leave a session looking and feeling amazing, radiating confidence that many didn’t even know they had in them before we started. I helped create, but for the confidence boost it gave their bride. That, to me, is priceless!” The photo shoot itself isn’t limited in scope. It can take place at the photographer’s studio, in the client’s home, or somewhere completely unexpected. “I have had brides book a night at a hotel before the wedding to surprise their fiancé,” Tegan details. “The bride and I arrive early, take the photos, and then she surprises him later on with the photos we took before he arrived. Wedding planning can be stressful and time consuming, so this gives them a chance to spend more quality time together.” If doing boudoir is already well outside of your comfort zone, doing the session in the comfort of your home may be a more ideal setting. In your home, you have the benefit of having certain places that you can turn from ordinary to extraordinary for your man — his favorite chair, your bathtub and, of course, the bedroom! And of course, the photographer’s studio is ready to accommodate you and your vision: soft, romantic and playful or sexy, daring and dramatic. One of the benefits of doing a boudoir photo shoot is the shameless excuse to go shopping. It’s the perfect reason to treat yourself — and your man — to some eye-catching new wardrobe items. Before you go shopping she can help provide recommendations of what works best for body types and comfort levels, all with your needs in mind. You can also incorporate items like his favorite dress shirt or part of his work uniform to really catch him by surprise. Whatever ensembles you decide on, Tegan’s
number one tip is high heels. “Even if your feet aren’t showing in a standing photo, high heels will give you better posture.” While it helps to have your own options along for your shoot, like a good friend Tegan always has extra outfits and shoes in her studio for a bride in need. In order to help you look and feel your best, there are several accommodations Tegan says are available to her clients. First and foremost, she strongly suggests using the hair and makeup team she has on set. It is an extra fee, but so worth it! “Trust me, your eyes will sparkle. I work with an amazingly talented team that will make you look and feel amazing.” Additionally, Tegan includes retouching on all ordered images. Skin requests, scuffs on the bottoms of heels, and distracting labels are all within her editing powers. She does not reshape the body in any way during the editing process and for good reason. “I use nothing but the best in terms of flattering lighting and posing that will highlight your best features and diminish your insecurities.” Boudoir doesn’t automatically mean nude or almost nude. You can do something more playful in a tank top and pajama shorts if that is where you feel most at ease. Tegan encourages you to try to break out of that comfort zone to see just how amazing you can look and feel in your own skin but will never discourage a bride from how she feels sexiest. “I will work with all comfort levels to help you feel amazing and create imagery that we are both proud of.” And, if it helps, Tegan says to bring along a great friend to keep the mood light and bring an added level of familiarity. The biggest concern most brides have when planning for a boudoir session is the concept of privacy. Will anyone see my images? Tegan said this is always a question and she is completely adamant about not breaking that trust with her clients. “Nothing is shared online or in print without written consent, and always after any gifts are delivered. If my brides want the images kept private, then the only person who will see them is me during the editing process. And I NEVER post any nudity anywhere online. I believe those should be strictly private … always.” As can be seen, there truly is no one way to embrace the boudoir experience. Let your imagination run wild, and leave the rest to your photography artisan to help your vision take life. All I Need is You Lindsay and Harlan met while working at their first jobs out of college. With what started off as great friends, over time developed into a budding romance! Due to their company's strict 'no dating' policy, they had to keep their romance a secret. After a year of that secrecy, they decided it was time to put their relationship first. So, they quit their jobs together and moved to Denver to start a new chapter. They’ve since moved back to their Midwest roots in Minneapolis, and are enjoying the land of 10,000 lakes with their adorable pup, Wilma. The proposal didn’t exactly go as planned. Harlan had everything planned out perfectly, with a romantic pedal boat ride at their favorite lake in Minneapolis - with two cold beers, and a videographer to capture the whole surprise! But, as Midwest weather would have it, the unexpected winds changed their plans and they couldn't ride the boat. Harlan quickly pivoted, and they went to a secluded spot along the lake. He could hardly get his words out, but through his tears asked Lindsay if she would marry him. She of course said yes!
First Look
My heart was beating like crazy as I saw Harlan; and tapped his shoulder to see each other for the first time. It was very emotional, and we both immediately shed a few happy tears and hugged each other so tight. It was as though we were falling in love for the first time, such a surreal feeling that we will never forget. Favorite Part of the Ceremony
Our favorite part of the ceremony was processing out of the church for the first time as husband as wife. We felt such a sense of togetherness and it was truly magical to see the joy and excitement of everyone we love around us. Favorite Part of the Reception
Our favorite part of the reception was being surrounded by all of our incredible friends and family on the dance floor. We both are terrible dancers, but have no problem showing off our awful moves together. Jumping to 'Shout,' and ending the night to ‘Closing Time’ in a dance circle with friends were the highlights. Advice to Couples
ALWAYS laugh together. Never forget to have fun with each other and not to take things too seriously. We are truly each other’s best friends, and think the other one is the funniest person in the world; which always keeps things very entertaining in even the most routine times. Funny, Memorable Moment
During our wedding ceremony, the priest called me 'Leslie' instead of Lindsay a few times. Before he was about to begin the vows, Harlan (being the heroic guy he is), stepped up to the priest and whispered "her name is Lindsay, not Leslie, Father." The whole exchange was picked up on the priests microphone and has definitely stuck as a new nickname for me.

It’s a good idea to schedule your first fitting about 6-8 weeks before the big day. This allows for enough time to take care of alterations. But what about the groom and his guys? It’s time for them to take center stage as well. The first step to making your way through the complex world of men’s attire is to consider the vibe of your wedding. Are you throwing an over-the-top, 500-person soiree in an elegant ballroom? 1 PRACTICE IN THE MIRROR
Get to know your best angles. Look in your mirror and decide which angles, placement, and expressions you like for your body and face. We will guide you during our shoot, but know what you like best before our time together. Knowing your angles will make you confident on camera and it will show.
2 IGNORE THE DOUBT
We all have that little voice. The one in our minds that can creep up and make us feel self-conscious. It might tell you that you are not confident doing a photo session. Do not let it in! When you are practicing your angles in the mirror, practice telling yourself something positive. The more you do this and the more loving you are with yourself, your confidence will grow. Remember that whoever sees these photos love you for you. Do not hide what makes you uniquely you!

Cecelia Baker Grade Hi! My name is Cecelia Baker Grade, YUP, you got that right my middle name is Baker! Extremely fitting because I am the Owner, Lead Decorator and Lead Baker at The Cake Lady. I grew up as my Momma’s sous chef in the kitchen standing on chairs to get a better view. As time went on it, became clear to me that I was happiest making a batch of chocolate chip cookies not only because of the joy it brought my tummy, but because of the ability to share them with others! My culinary journey officially started in 2008, taking the only foods classes offered at Wauwatosa East High School and participating in the Wisconsin Pro-Start Cooking Competitions. After high school I received my Baking and Pastry degree from Kendall College in Chicago, IL and then proceeded to intern at Bartolotta’s Lake Park Bistro on the pastry line for under Pastry Chef Annie Ghobrial. Every day felt like a marathon, but there was nothing better than the feeling of knowing you got through the dinner rush! After a few years with Bartolotta I decided to reach out and see what other areas of pastry I could get my hands into. I was introduced to the owner of The Cake Lady, Karen Smith, and hired on in 2012 to be her assistant. I came in having little experience with cakes besides my short wedding cake class in college, so Karen taught me every technique, tip and recipe to create another Cake Lady to bake for Milwaukee.

Shannon and Geoff Trenholme ROCKET BABY BAKERY Rocket Baby owners Geoff and Shannon are the perfect blend of baking and business talent. Geoff brings the formal bread and pastry training, while Shannon brings the MBA, customer service and operations background. The seeds for Rocket Baby were first sown when the couple was living in Santa Monica, Calif., where Geoff was working as a high school math teacher. He found baking when he was looking for a career change, which led to the San Francisco Baking Institute. After the birth of their first son, Raiden, the family decided to move to Wauwatosa—Shannon’s hometown—and open their business. Raiden’s initials, RKT, earned him the nickname Rocket Baby, and gave the family the perfect name for their new bakery, which opened in 2012. Rocket Baby features scratch-baking using top-quality ingredients that are locally sourced
when possible. You won’t find fondant here – only delicious house-made buttercream. The couple and their team stay current with new trends while remaining grounded in their artisan ethos. In addition to the artisan focus, Geoff and Shannon are client focused, looking to their client's personalities and overall vision to come up with the perfect creations for important events. Rocket Baby offers custom tastings, with in-person and tasting-to-go options. The $35 tastings include two four-inch cakes (bride’s and groom’s choice). In-person tastings are run Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sharing your vision for the big day is important. The pastry chef will ask for images, color swatches and textures from the overall wedding to understand your aesthetic. “Clarity of vision for the event is paramount to successfully meet expectations,” Shannon says.

As you get down to planning your wedding day, or the other events for your wedding, keep in mind that your time frame is important. “The more time we have, the more creative and flexible we can be,” Shannon says. “But we also recommend tastings be no more than four months out. We find too much time before the event doesn’t allow clients to fully realize their vision.” So what’s trending now? Sweets tables are becoming more popular. Varying your product offerings at your celebration can make your event a real standout. Having a brand is also a part of events now. “People are really into having an identity and style that is reflected in their events,” Shannon adds. You're my Everything “We went to a black tie gala for Brittany's alma mater. After a great evening, great meal and great cocktails, I found myself mumbling a few times to myself, I'm going to marry her." Brittany and Nathan went on their first date in 2015 at Bar Louie. The date went better than either of them expected. Nathan asked for a second date before the first date was over. Brittany had her back up “fake excuse” for an early escape in the event it didn’t go well. Fortunately, she didn’t need to use her excuse. What was supposed to be a brief meeting for a couple of drinks turned into several hours together talking about favorite cheeses and Brittany’s Milwaukee bucket list. Their second date was to the Safe House, one of Brittany’s bucket list experiences.
Lovable Unique Qualities
Nathan is also one of the most incredibly selfless people I know. When we first started dating, he would keep granola bars in his car for homeless people looking for food/money. He's always willing to sacrifice some of his own time to help someone. This only gets magnified when it comes to his friends and family. He has this intrinsic connection to duty and responsibility for his people. He doesn't bat an eye; he just does for them. I love that Brittany can stand her own in tough situations. I love how much she values her family and admires how much she is able to put her own wants aside to look out for the best interests of her family. On that same note, I love how she is quick to monitor my own work/family obligations and remind me to reach out for help when needed. Must-Have Detail
Brittany's dad really wanted ice sculptures. It was sort of a running joke at first, but it ended up being one of the best elements of the venue!! People still talk about it to us often. Wedding Style
Contemporary classic with several nods to Nathan and Brittany's families. We loved jewel tones; we knew we wanted powerful colors to stand out against the bright, clean backdrop of the venue. Advice for Couples
It's not "my wedding" but "our wedding" — while wedding planning is incredibly stressful, you have your partner for life by your side to help carry the load. However, most brides don’t know much beyond that...flowers are beautiful. When sourcing a florist for your wedding, it’s difficult to know where to begin. Every bride wants amazing flowers on her wedding day, but what’s really important is finding the right florist for the job! We’re talking about the right flowers, designed by the perfect wedding florist for you. Here’s where to start! Begin by doing a bit of research. Take some time to figure out what you like, and how you want your florals to look. You, by no means, need to be savvy with floral lingo, or even know in-depth terminology. A simple understanding of the names of the flowers you like, and types of arrangements will suffice! If you want to go one step further in your research process, check to see if the flowers you like are in-
season during your wedding month. During your research, begin compiling a bit of inspiration. Yes, we mean Pinterest and of course the pages of Veil Magazine add additional inspiration as well! Save all the pictures you like. Make a note of what especially draws you to each floral piece this will help you communicate your vision and style more effectively. You’ll see photos of personal flowers, which are bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages. Outside of personal flowers, you may see ceremony aisle flowers, a floral installation around the arbor, or large pillar arrangements. Along with those, comes the reception flowers like centerpieces, escort card arrangement, etc. Wrapping your head around all of the floral options will help you identify which you definitely want. Where did the name Belle Fiori come from? The original owner selected the name. It is Italian, loosely translated to mean “Beautiful Flowers.” I apologize to anyone who speaks Italian; I know the grammar is incorrect! What do you like most about where you are located? I love all of Milwaukee; it is the best small, big city around. Our exact location on the East Side, just north of downtown, makes so many of the best wedding venues right in our backyard. It's like we have home field advantage every weekend.
Besides flowers, what other elements can you incorporate? We love to include the unexpected: feathers or fruit, succulents and air plants. We’ve also incorporated sentimental items like family heirloom jewelry or modern elements like a GoPro! Are there specific influences you draw upon when you are in the creative process? At Belle Fiori, we try to find inspiration in many of the same places as our brides. We love Instagram and Pinterest. Other florists inspire us, as well as the new flowers that are available with each changing season.
What can a couple expect from you as their wedding florist? We always customize the designs for each couple. We take pride in each creative design and paying attention to even the smallest detail. What are your words of wisdom for brides and grooms? Don't expect the day to be perfect; there is always something that happens. At my wedding our cake was the wrong shape and icing pattern, but the yummy flavors were correct. None of the guests even noticed!

Where do the flowers you use come from? It is wonderful how small the world has become in terms of shipping. We source flowers by the best location for each variety.
We get flowers domestically from warmer states all year through, and internationally from South America, Holland, Israel, New Zealand and Australia. Our favorite source is right here in Wisconsin! We work with a fabulous flower farm for sustainably grown local flowers from April to November.

The wedding date is set! What an accomplishment. You have your ceremony and reception venue booked. The date is reserved, and you’re feeling great. Next on the list is to secure your wedding photographer. It might seem far in advance, but most talented photographers book up to 1.5 years ahead of time, so it’s never too early to secure a good one! With so many photographers out there with beautiful photos, it can be overwhelming to jump in. But, there’s an easy way to tackle this next, and very important, wedding vendor! First and foremost - know your style and budget. Granted, your photography budget is a bit more cut-and-dry than your photography style, but before searching for local photographers, it is important to determine your preferred artistic style. Use wedding blogs, Pinterest and Veil Magazine to look at wedding images; this will help determine which style of wedding photography speaks to you! Are you drawn to light and airy, or dark and moody? Are you a fan of traditionally posed images, or do you
prefer a more editorial style? Once you develop a preference, search for local photographers with a similar style. First impressions are really important! While we all agree that budget is a significant part of the conversation when hiring wedding creatives and will surely be discussed, understand that some photographers are storytellers, and they connect with the couple on a personal level to create magic. Therefore, in your initial email to a wedding photographer, make sure to include a few lines about you as a couple. With that said, learn about them. Every business has an ‘About Us’ page, so explore local businesses and learn about the folks behind the lens. You’ll want to explore the idea of a ‘second shooter.’ This is someone who assists the main photographer in catching all the details of the day. More often than not, a photographer will offer a second shooter at an additional fee. If you’re not sure if you’ll need or want a second shooter added to your team, that’s a perfect question to ask the photographer during the
consultation process. Depending on your ceremony and reception venues, number of attendants and guest count, you may get a better idea of adding on the help or not. When you’re researching photographers, also ask to see a full image gallery. Obviously the snips from social media are helpful, but they’re the best of the best. So, ask to see what the comprehensive day looks like so you can see if it’s a good fit as a whole. Final details are important to hash out as you settle on a photographer. Be sure to discuss the not-so-fun questions like what’s the turnaround time on a gallery, and if that information can be included in the contract. Additionally, be sure to go through all inclusions in the photography package, such as wedding albums, downloadable images, individually edited, etc. Once you find the right photographer, you can enjoy your day knowing the beautiful moments will be captured the way you want.

Tegan Jae THE PAPER ELEPHANT High school sweethearts and new parents, Tegan and Jeremiah, are lucky to share their passion for storytelling with each other. Tegan is the artistic vision behind The Paper Elephant, a company dedicated to creating genuine, romantic and timeless imagery for the modern couple. The namesake is a throwback to when she was a little girl creating silly knock knock jokes about elephants. Jeremiah began second shooting with Tegan early in their relationship and enjoys photography as a creative break from his nursing career. Fifteen years of building their loving relationship has led to a beautiful team dynamic. The national concert at the red rocks amphitheater in Colorado brought us together and we've been nearly inseparable ever since. After 2 1/2 years of love & laughter Caleb proposed on stage at turner hall, a music venue in Milwaukee. We live with our 2 dogs & 2 cats & 53 houseplants in our newly remodeled 1888 Victorian. We love minimalism and Scandinavian design. We've been to Iceland 4 times, and even named our GSD after our favorite city; Vík. We take photos that you will actually enjoy having taken of you!

Kat Wegrzyniak DOUBLEYOU PHOTOGRAPHY Kat of Double You Photography is inspired by people. As a lifestyle photographer based in Milwaukee, Wis., she likes to observe and document with as little interference as possible. “I have a storytelling and journalistic approach to my photography. I don't try to pose people too much, only when needed for an artsier portrait or for a group formal picture,” Kat says. Kat always liked taking pictures. She used to shoot on film when she was a teenager, developing it in a dark room her dad created in their house in Poland. But Kat didn’t go into photography right away. She earned her college degree in sociology and says she’s always loved observing people, which lends itself well to her work behind the camera. Her professional career in photography was born after her kids, Erik and Maya, were. “I was taking more and more pictures of them, and my friend's kids and parties,” Kat says. From there on out, she started learning as much as she could. Kat is mostly self-taught, but has also taken online courses and a photography class at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design.
Kat has been shooting weddings since 2012, starting out as an apprentice and a second shooter for a Chicago-based wedding photographer, shooting weddings in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. “I worked a few seasons with him and learned a lot!” she says. Now, as the owner of Double You Photography, Kat brings her own style of photography to the table that is unique and contemporary. “I love natural, ‘in the moment’

There is no better way to capture this incredible day and make it livable long after the last dance of the evening than to have this keepsake you can cherish for the rest of your lives. What does a videographer capture? Every wedding has it’s own love story that deserves to be made into a film. Some of the best moments of a wedding can only be retold through the lens of a videographer’s camera. The video captures the raw emotions
aspect. To hear what a father has to say about his daughter, all while watching them dance together, is always emotional.

What can a couple expect from their videographer? I am there all day to capture as much as possible to re-tell the story of the wedding. Some of the best moments happen at unexpected times of the night. I also feel that our videos can complement the story photographers tell in a distinctive way. I like giving a couple something completely different from their photos that allows them to get a whole different perspective on their wedding. In addition, of the day that simply cannot be recreated we try to be as unobtrusive as possible when through pictures or memories. One thing capturing the day. that is often overlooked is how moving vows or speeches from your friends and family can What does a couple that hires you be. The result is a 20-minute feature film that allows you to relive the biggest moments from the day. In addition, we create a 3- to 5-minute film they can share on social media. I even take requests from bride and grooms to make a special package for them. Anything works for me; I just want to make an exciting film!

Talk about the videography experience. We try to get to know our couples and connect as much as we can throughout the planning. It’s important for our couples to feel comfortable with us so they are natural on the wedding day. I try and learn exactly what the couples are looking
to get out of the video so I can capture and create a film that is perfect for them. On the day of the wedding I just like to have fun with the couple. Everything is professional, but we keep things relaxed. After the wedding, couples can choose to have a “viewing” with their loved ones at our bar, Camp Bar, when the film is finished. It’s a cool way to celebrate that no other videography company can offer.

What happens after the filming is complete? The editing is where all of the magic happens to tell the story. We take all of the captured footage to create a film that is entertaining to watch for everyone. There are hours of footage that we comb through to find the best moments. All weddings have a natural love story, which is important to portray. Throughout the film we use different editing techniques that tie in with the various emotions of the day. During the ceremony and details, you will see scenes and shots that are longer and more dramatic. Later when we are showing the celebration, there is more energy and faster editing. The different
techniques and styles work together to create an amazing film.

Why is a videographer valuable to a wedding? Ask recently married couples and you will hear a common regret: “I wish I would’ve hired a videographer.” It’s a different way to experience your wedding. You have all this build up to one day, and it goes by so fast when it’s over. Photographers are a must, but a video complements what you get from those photos in such a unique way. Videos immerse you in your wedding years after it’s over. There is no better way to relive the day than live motion. When you first watch the films after your wedding, you will be excited to see how it turned out. But as your memory fades of the day and years go by, you will love being able to relive your biggest day. You’ll be amazed at the things you forgot happened, how different your friends and family look, how emotional you’ll be to see and listen to a parent’s or friend’s speech, or simply to show your kids someday. You will never regret having a video, but you may regret not having one.

Making it official All you need to know about wedding in Wisconsin The Paper Elephant
WHERE DO I GET A MARRIAGE LICENSE? In the state of Wisconsin, marriage licenses are provided in person by the county clerk and both of you must apply. In order to get your license before you say “I do�, it is recommended to apply a month before your wedding date. However, you are required to wait six business days after you are issued the license before the ceremony can take place.
HOW DO I APPLY FOR A MARRIAGE LICENSE?

For Wisconsin residents, you need to apply for a marriage license in the county where you reside. After the application has been completed, you can get married anywhere in the state. If you're both non-residents, you must apply in the county where the wedding will take place. Not every county has the same identification requirements, so check with your local county clerk before applying. Generally, each of you will be required to bring a valid photo ID - such as your driver's license - with your current address or two documents showing your current address.
HOW LONG IS A MARRIAGE LICENSE VALID? Following the six-day waiting period, a marriage license is valid for 30 days. The ceremony must take place during the 30-day window in order for the marriage to be official. If the marriage license expires before the ceremony, you will have to reapply. The two of you will receive a marriage license worksheet either in person or in the mail from the county clerk. This worksheet must be completed proceeding the ceremony by the couple, the officiant and two witnesses.
WHO CAN PRESIDE OVER THE CEREMONY? As long as he/she is age 18 or older, the officiant can be any ordained clergy member, religious leader permitted by the faith to officiate, judge, or circuit court commissioner. The both of you may also officiate by stating mutual declarations that you take each other as spouses if that follows customs, rules and regulations of a religion you belong to.
WHO CAN BE A WITNESS?
HOW DO I GET MY MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE? After the marriage license worksheet is completed, turned in to the register of deeds by the officiant, and accepted, there is an application and fee required in order to receive a copy of your marriage certificate.
