LEADERSHIP SPEAKS

Leadership Speaks

In the spirit of taking time to recognize our accomplishments, look for inspiration within ourselves, and draw strength from the strong community of connections that we have fostered on a national scale, you will find this edition of Stay Connected an apt compendium.

We continue to implement a number of initiatives that ensure the highest level of health, safety, and environmental performance. Among these are assessments, advisories, and workshops that address improving standards. We have consistently maintained a resilient and determined attitude in all our portfolio companies, which has allowed us to remain focused and bound to the goals we set for ourselves. Our teams relentlessly worked to fulfill their potential and move forward. The progress we have made to date has been incredible and I look forward to achieving many more milestones in the future. I'm confident that this year we will continue to strive to uphold our vigorous standards of governance and accomplishments, and look forward to the possibilities it offers.

In the days preceding the return to offices, there were expressions of excitement from our teams. Nurturing a positive, healthy environment at our workplace has always been a priority for us and I can confidently say that we have built - and continuously work toward - an ecosystem that encourages a culture of inclusivity and engagement. It was not long ago that India and other countries were experiencing a surge in Omicron cases, making it extremely important to increase awareness about COVID - appropriate behaviour and the importance of HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental Performances).

Key Achievements: Procurement: Our procurement teams across our organization have successfully shared their best practices and have initiated a procurement process manual and DOA for each OpCo for better control and compliance. In addition, the labour compliance & ABC documents have been successfully shared.

Information Technology: We have successfully begun to consolidate the application landscape & other technology requirements across the Opcos to improve our negotiation skills together as a team.

Finance: Overall, the Finance teams across the portfolio companies have started exploring the opportunities of outsourcing certain processes with various partners in an attempt to reduce costs. The possibility of an Invit IPO has also been explored, which is a formidable task and one which merits applause.

Human Resources: Human resources teams have been utilizing vendor databases for HR purposes. Additionally, Zing HR was selected as a preferred partner after an evaluation of multiple vendors. Additionally, we are proud of HR's development of common online training materials geared toward preventing sexual harassment. Mentor: Ritu Verma Lead: Shanmugakumar G (Brookfield Renewables)

Risk: Our efforts to minimize risks have resulted in identifying automation opportunities for risk-related activities. In the current state of our endeavour, we are formulating a standardization process for Audit Planning (Risk-Based). It will be accompanied by the benchmarking of Risk and Resilience Frameworks that are also in the process of being developed.

Health, Safety, Security and Environment: As part of their responsibilities, HSSE teams review serious incidents and learn from them. A review of the OpCo safety plans for critical activities has been undertaken jointly by the members of the group.

Compliance and Legal: Collectively, the teams have held knowledge sharing sessions and identified key projects for further work.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): As a result of being able to share and discuss the respective CSR policies, the Renewable Energy team has been able to create and implement best practices. One of the key components needed to achieve the integrated goal is for one OpCo to share the feedback from its initiative with the group and to encourage the other OpCos to follow their lead.

Communication: As part of the efforts to promote the myriad initiatives being undertaken by teams across the various portfolio companies, bbnintranet.com has been launched. A dynamic microsite that acts as a repository for key initiatives across the company and is accessible only to employees, is an integral part of the BBN’s value proposition.

Key Business Updates

Summit Digitel takes pride in having signed an MSA with two of the most important mobile network operators - Airtel and BSNL, thus securing the continued business in the years to come. By leveraging Jio's presence as an anchor tenant, Airtel & BSNL's status as key partners, and collaboration with Sify, Summit has arisen at the forefront of the industry for the foreseeable future.

In a significant achievement for a debut issuer, S&P (BBB-) and Fitch (BBB-) assigned an investment-grade rating alongside the sovereign rating. As a result of all these accomplishments, Summit Digitel will now be on par with global telecom tower companies and will also be able to tap into multiple sources of financing in addition to conventional banking / onshore channels. With the signing of a five-year contract with IBM, we were able to further enhance the business transformation at Summit and our efforts to create a thriving environment that encourages sustainability, compliance, and governance. By creating this partnership, we will be able to provide streamlined financial and operational reporting, deploy a system for managing customers' receivables and financial obligations, and provide a system for operations and maintenance.

In less than a year of its operation, Summit also successfully raised $500 million via overseas bonds in our first foray into the international bond market in a record-breaking ten-week period. In both instances, we have achieved a double victory, as this is the first US$ bond issued by an Indian telecom tower company and by a Brookfield subsidiary in the APAC region.
