Following the success of his first book, New York Interiors, Simon Upton turns to London – a city in which he has been based for most of his working life. Exploring an incredible range of homes in this vibrant city, Upton looks behind the scenes into the private spaces of creatives and influencers. Presented in two parts, the book begins with ‘Town’, which is devoted to the homes of those who live solely in London, such as grandee of interior design John Stefanidis; House & Garden’s Interior Designer of the Year 2019, Maria Speake; industrial designer and architect Tom Bartlett; fashion designer Bella Freud; model Poppy Delevingne; and antiques dealer and interior designer Adam Bray. Then, ‘Country’ showcases those who divide their time between London and a retreat in the British countryside, which includes names such as antiques dealers Jorge Perez–Martin and David Gibson, known as Brownrigg; film director Gaby Dellal; and designer Jasper Conran. With a foreword by iconic decorator and Upton’s friend Nicky Haslam, London Living reveals a series of unique locations, each illuminated by an interview in which the owner defines their true meaning of ‘home’.
Simon Upton is one of the foremost names in interiors photography, with more than 25 years of published work to his credit. His work appears regularly in The World of Interiors, ELLE Decor, Vogue, Architectural Digest, and House & Garden His first book, New York Interiors, was published in 2021 to great acclaim. The majestic panoramas, lush vegetation, and bucolic vibe of the Catskill Mountains and Hudson River Valley in upstate New York have long proved irresistible for city dwellers seeking respite from urban life and inveterate country lovers alike. Their homes, whether hundreds of years old or brand new, all resonate with their natural surroundings, as each of the 20 houses that photographer William Abranowicz captured for this volume attests. They range from the historic houses of Thomas Cole and Frederic Church, quintessential landscape painters of the Hudson River School, to the rustic wood–and–stone house of a dealer of mid–century furniture, art, and jewellery, in which the clean lines of Frank Lloyd Wright side tables and other mid–century furnishings are exuberantly contrasted by vibrant textiles and contemporary ceramics. Perusing the pages of Country Life is the equivalent of taking a vacation and being warmly invited into the homes of artists, architects, writers, museum curators, dancers, photographers, antiques dealers, set designers, a social worker, a yogi, and even a hall of fame BBQ chef.
William Abranowicz has published three books with Vendome, including Sean Scherer’s Kabinett & Kammer: Creating Authentic Interiors, which has inspired a cult following. The muted, understated exterior of the townhouse on a tree-lined New York City street belies the sumptuous feast for the eyes that hits you upon opening its blue front door. Every room of its five main floors has its own saturated colour scheme, filled with a David Hicks-inspired geometrically patterned rug, vibrant fabrics, new and vintage furniture, art and photographs covering walls, and sculptures and knickknacks topping tables and filling shelves. For the owner, John Demsey, the starting point was a pair of multicoloured Louboutin boots, which inspired the palette of the living room rug. Working with interior decorator and friend Bibi Monnahan, he carefully chose and positioned each piece of furniture, work of art, and decorative object, and mounted his enormous photography collection. The result is a tour de force of maximalist design, now captured for all to see in Douglas Friedman’s luminous photographs and with journalist Alina Cho as our eyewitness guide.
John Demsey is a transformational business builder, prestige beauty pioneer and philanthropist who has led multiple luxury brands to unparalleled global success. Over his 30-year career at Estée Lauder Companies, he was instrumental in growing the company into a multi-billion-dollar beauty icon across established and emerging markets. A career-long innovator and creative mentor, Demsey is known for forging some of the most successful artist and designer collaborations in the industry and supporting several philanthropic organizations helping animals, addressing food access challenges, promoting performing arts and fundraising for HIV and AIDS research, treatment and prevention. Alina Cho is an Emmy Awardwinning contributor to CBS Sunday Morning, producer of the Netflix documentary on Martha Stewart, and host of The Atelier with Alina Cho, an interview series with fashion designers at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. For nearly a decade, Cho was a national correspondent for CNN, where she covered presidential politics and travelled twice to North Korea. She lives in New York. Douglas Friedman is a renowned fashion, portrait, and interiors photographer whose work has appeared in Architectural Digest, ELLE Decor, Veranda, Vogue, T Magazine, Vanity Fair, and countless other publications in the United States and abroad. He has had several exhibitions of his fine art photography. He lives in Marfa, Texas.

■ More-is-more aesthetic: Not a single horizontal or vertical surface of the rooms, bathrooms, hallways, or staircases is left bare, and yet the overall effect is one of coherence, not clutter.
■ Extraordinary collections: Hundreds of photographs of celebrities, such as Frank Sinatra, Andy Warhol, and Nicki Minaj, by a who’s who of photographers line the walls; Fornasetti ceramics fill shelves; Memphis vases top tables; Hermès and Gucci fabrics cover pillows; animal sculptures abound—and that’s only the beginning.

Whether a brand-new country estate, a renovation of a triplex penthouse apartment, or a merging of two townhouses into one, each of the 20 projects in this sumptuously illustrated volume bears the hallmarks of Peter Pennoyer Architects’ work: skilful adaptation of the principles of classical architecture, sophisticated use of details and materials, and insistence on meticulous craftsmanship, resulting in a balance between comfort, beauty, and luxury. This sumptuous book tells the legendary story of the Copacabana Palace Hotel, from its extraordinary beginnings to the contemporary and stylish destination that it is today. Themed chapters and exquisite photography explore how the hotel has been a part of Rio de Janeiro life for 100 years – from its opening in 1923, when there were few other buildings in the area, to the golden age of Hollywood glamour, the extraordinary free concert on Copacabana Beach given by the Rolling Stones in 2006 (with more than 1.5 million people attending), and beyond. Affectionately dubbed ‘the Copa’ by cariocas (locals) and guests alike, the hotel is famous for events such as the Carnival balls in February and the celebrations at New Year’s Eve, when everyone flocks to Copacabana Beach. Mexican A Journey Through Design
Newell Turner
Foreword by Susana Ordovás
An American expat searches vibrant cities and quiet pueblos for the essence of authentic Mexican style
With Mexican, Newell Turner begins to do for Mexican design what legendary culinary pioneer Diana Kennedy did for Mexican food. Turner searches the country for design and cultural details that are the essence of Mexican style. Taking readers behind the walls, gates, and doors of private Mexico, we are introduced to an intriguing world of interior design and architecture from Spanish colonial and baroque to surrealism, ’70s brutalism, and contemporary work. His story is in the spirit of memoirs like Driving Over Lemons, a traveller discovering another country – and himself along the way. This breathtaking album of photography shows how every room, courtyard, loggia – and even a chair, arrangement of flowers, and textiles for clothing – are part of a rich design heritage. Turner spent his magazine career chronicling American style, and now his fascination has turned to Mexico. We are invited to join him as he explores the homes of Mexicans and other expats who share his passion for authentic Mexico, both past and present, inspired by the country’s complex history and stunning landscapes.

Haute Bohemians: Greece
Miguel Flores-Vianna
A glorious, intimate homage to this magical country from bestselling photographer and writer Miguel Flores-Vianna.
A land immortalized by poets for its otherworldly beauty, Greece is the birthplace of iconic monuments that are known the world over. Yet, at the same time, it is also home to an organic architectural language, the product of centuries of rural and island lifestyles, an heir both to the timelessness of classical architecture and the simplicity of rustic living. This stunning volume chronicles Flores-Vianna‘s photographic odyssey through the beautiful Greek landscape, showcasing the homes of those who liver there today, from the sophisticated residences of fashion designers and the simple yet elegant homes of olive growers, to boutique hotels, futuristic public architecture, museum treasures, and breathtaking scenery, bathed in the glow of ethereal light. A self-confessed ‘Hellenophile‘ who has visited Greece countless times since his childhood, Flores-Vianna invites us to join him in paying tribute to his beloved adopted nation, capturing the character and patina of this enchanting country through his trademark intimate, atmospheric photography, and allowing his armchair-travel companions to be transported there through his lens.

John Ike: 9 Houses, 9 Stories
John Ike and Mitchell Owens
Principal photography by Richard Powers
Nine recent projects by renowned architect
John Ike
A signature shingled house in a New York suburb, a renovated mid-century modern house in San Diego, a glass-and-brick house high in the San Francisco hills, a beach house on the Atlantic coast, a reimagined historic building in Brooklin, Maine – the projects featured in this book vary widely in style, location, and materials, but all share a common sensibility. For John Ike, a founding partner of the award-winning firm Ike Kligerman Barkley, they are all vehicles illustrating the myriad ways architecture is created. His involvement in them ranges from mentor to principal architect and designer, but all are collaborations, and in each chapter he focuses attention on a person who was particularly instrumental in realizing the project, whether the interior designer, the landscape architect, the contractor, a craftsperson, or the client. With an authoritative text by seasoned architecture and design writer Mitchell Owens and specially commissioned photography, John Ike: 9 Houses/9 Stories explores and celebrates the inextricable bond between the architect and those who implement his vision, a give-andtake that results in singularly designed residences.
