Annual Fund 2022-2023 Together We Give, Together We Build

Together We Give, Together We Build

Dear Veritas Community,

It’s Annual Fund time! Our Annual Fund is critical toward furthering our mission, and we need 100% participation to raise $175,000! We have had excellent participation in the past, but we have not yet hit 100%.

LET’S. MAKE. THIS. OUR. YEAR.

Funds raised allow us to provide a quality Christian education by closing the gap between the tuition we receive and the cost of educating our students. As importantly, our Annual Fund enables us to provide financial assistance to families so that a Veritas education remains accessible.

Our Annual Fund kicks off with Spirit Week and runs October 24th through November 11th. This year our theme is “Together We Give, Together We Build a Foundation for Life!” Over the next couple of weeks, please visit with your family, spend time in prayer, and consider making a sacrificial investment in Veritas so that we can continue building a Christ-centered foundation for our children and future generations of Houstonians.

Thank you for your generosity and the privilege of being your Head of School.

Mission Statement

Veritas is an independent Christian school in the classical tradition that prepares students for lives of service and learning through academic excellence, character development, biblical literacy, and intentional engagement opportunities.

Ochoa Family

We have been blessed throughout our lives and have enjoyed many professional successes. By far, being a parent outweighs all of them. We never knew the complexity of raising three good human beings. While we have put our hard work into raising our children in a godly way, we realized that it does take a village. We were blessed and our prayers lead us to become part of the Veritas community.

Since our first tour at Veritas we knew this was the right place for us. We came here 7 years ago and left to our neighborhood school. After 2 years of being away, we very quickly realized we missed the uniqueness, values, and Christian environment that Veritas provides. Not a day goes by that we aren’t grateful to be part of such a wonderful extension of our family. We know the education and the values of Veritas mirror our beliefs and strengthen our children’s belief in God and being good Christians.

We have made so many friends with families of Veritas and our children’s friends are like our own. This past year we underwent a traumatic event with one of our children and in our darkest hour it was the community and staff of Veritas who gave us support and light along the way. We couldn’t have done it without that support. As our children advance through and eventually graduate from Veritas we will always be connected and part of a wonderful community. We love and are forever grateful to the Veritas community!

As we come to the end of the year and we start thinking of giving to others, the Annual Fund comes to mind. These funds are not only for resources for new projects, but they allow the Veritas community to remain an economical choice for our families in keeping the yearly tuition affordable. Helen Keller once said, “alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” Please join us in having 100% participation from our Veritas community.

Turnbaugh Family

Proverbs 22:6 states “Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.”

Selecting a school for our children was an important decision. As our family witnessed the stresses and dynamics of a changing world, we knew above all else, we wanted our children to have foundational faith in Christ and be in an environment that supported their faith and growth. Our desire for our children is for them to be in the world, but not of the world, where they can both compete academically while also being able to defend our family’s beliefs and core values.

Although we have only been at Veritas for a year, we have witnessed the spiritual, emotional, and academic growth of our children. Our children display what they have gained from Veritas on a daily basis as they give us a glimpse into their time at school. We often hear them reference stories from the Bible or scripture they have memorized. We see them implement the values they have learned by showing love, grace, and forgiveness to other people as they build meaningful friendships. We learn alongside them as they master new skills, languages and explore areas of interest. More than anything, we hear about how our children love their teachers and how they pour their knowledge and love into the kids.

Veritas has grown our children in ways that public or private secular schools could not. It has also been a place where our entire family has found community through school events, volunteering, and outside of school activities. We look forward to seeing the growth and blessings over the coming years at Veritas.

Together We Give, Together We Build

Missions

From Samaritan’s Purse to making care packages for homeless people during CEP trips, Veritas has many projects that allow me to help the community. These help me become a better person and have a closer connection to God.

Teacher Support

The teachers at Veritas always incorporate the Bible in everything they teach. Because of that, it is a constant reminder to me to always put Christ first. Moving forward, I will always be thankful for the Christian environment that Veritas has provided for me.

Together We Give, Together We Build

Fine Arts

Here at Veritas students can participate in a broad spectrum of fine arts activities. These activities can improve the students’ thinking capabilities, teach them about the past, and are very enjoyable overall.

With spaces for student collaboration, like the Raad Learning Center and the STEAM Lab, we’re able to have a productive environment where we can share ideas and challenge each other. These, along with the other programs Veritas has for students, encourages student learning and creativity.

Playing sports at Veritas has taught me to keep going no matter what I face. I cherish the loving relationships that I share with my friends and coaches as we grow together, both in sports and in life.

The Annual Fund helps to bridge budgetary needs of the overall budget.

Doesn’t tuition cover the expenses of the school?
