From the Head of School
Dear Veritas Community,
Happy New Year to you all and a very warm welcome to 2022, which I believe will be a year of increased blessings for all of us. I begin this year by being thankful for all the blessings we’ve had. Semester one has swiftly passed, ushering us into a new year, a year that will bring challenges which we will, no doubt, rise above and blessings we will be grateful for. This year has offered solid proof that, with the Lord’s guidance and strength, we are resilient despite the challenges faced. I am excited to start the second half of the academic year alongside all of you. The holiday recess was a welcomed break for our school community, and I hope it offered all a chance to relax and rejuvenate. While the 202122 academic year has not been a complete return to normalcy and has had its challenges, we are grateful for the opportunities that we’ve had to resume many of the events and functions we enjoyed pre-pandemic. Our Annual Chili Cook-Off was a tremendous success, and we had the opportunity to spend time with both current families and students and many of our alumni! We had a fantastic Book Fair with our new partner, Orchard Books. In addition, we had a tremendously successful Annual Fund with 99% participation raising $178,000, breaking
5 the Veritas record! We could not have done this without your support. Thank you for your participation and generous giving. This year middle school students have been able to travel to Philadelphia, New York, and Boston, as well as San Antonio, Fredericksburg, and Austin. They also had the opportunity to serve on those trips as part of our Core Value of Intentional Engagement. It was a joy to watch our Country Christmas-themed Lower School and Early Education Christmas Productions, as well as our very first Middle School Christmas Concert! Finally, we hosted our second ever alumni event and our current middle school students spent time with our alumni. It is with the renewed hope and optimism of a new year that I invite you to look ahead to all the wonderful things upcoming in our community. Our auction committee continues to work hard on the “Secret Garden” themed auction event. The funds raised will be used to enhance our outdoor learning spaces with an improved playground, reimagined playcourt, outdoor classrooms, prayer garden, and more! We are also looking forward to our History Fair, Fine Arts Night, a new partnership with A.D. Players providing a summer theater camp, and several other events that will allow us to come together as a community. May these days be filled with joy, peace, and hope for the New Year! With sincere gratitude, Lina Delgado Interim Head of School

From the Medical Team
The Veritas Medical Team, comprised of Grace Chace, our School Nurse; Danielle Breitenwischer, our Administrativie Assistant; and Zachary Villafuerte, our Campus Administrator and the Veritas COVID Point of Contact, are grateful to all Veritas families who have shown tremendous understanding, patience, cooperation, and grace during the ever changing environment that encompasses not only the pandemic but all forms of illnesses as well. They work tirelessly to ensure that Veritas students have a safe and healthy learning environment with limited disruptions to in-person learning. Thank you! A Few Key Reminders: • Continue communicating with the Veritas Medical Team regarding any illnesses that students may have, including COVID (positivity or exposure). • Keep students who have a fever, have vomited, or had diarrhea home at least 24 hours and symptom-free without the aid of medication. • Students should remain home if any member of the household has a pending COVID testing result (exceptions may apply - please contact The Medical Team for questions). • Send a refillable water bottle with your child to school daily dehydration often leads to illnesses that may cause students to be picked up. • Continue teaching your children proper handwashing techniques and encourage them to consistently wash their hands prior to touching their eyes, nose, and/or mouth. • Continue following health and safety protocols outlined by the school on the Health and Safety Guidelines webpage.
In light of normal seasonal illnesses along with COVID, the Veritas Medical Team thought that the following chart could offer some insight on symptoms and their related illnesses.
