I am an illustrator born and raised in Bratislava, Slovakia, currently based in England. I studied illustration at University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, Surrey. Mainly inspired by the aesthetic of the 20th century and the surreal of the everyday, I create character-focused imagery, often turning it into risograph prints. Apart from illustrating, I enjoy exploring new places, collecting tickets and taking care of my large rare plant collection.

I first started working with risograph in 2017, while at university. I had been very interested in the process, and its sustainable qualities even prior to that, and experiencing it first hand made me fall in love with it even more. I have since worked on various personal and commissioned projects using a risograph. I am proud to have collaborated with ÄŒierne Diery and Risomat, the oldest risograph studio in Slovakia.

I collaborated with Čierne Diery collective to create a three-colour risograph print commemorating Panenská street in Bratislava, Slovakia. Čierne Diery document forgotten, often slowly disappearing, industrial sights of Slovakia, and frequently work with artists to produce risograph prints of said buildings or places. I was commissioned to illustrate Panenská street with focus on two dilapidated buildings, once very noble and important. The print was made using fluorescent orange, red and risofederal blue inks. In February 2020 my print was exhibited at an exhibition as a part of the 189 prints the collective had produced.

‘Faces and Places’ is a project inspired by my memories of places I visited during the summer of 2019. These illustrations were inspired by my observational drawings in Barcelona, Novigrad and Prague, and subsequently riso-printed using fluorescent orange, medium blue and teal inks.

‘Froth on the Daydream’ is the title of my university final major project, based on the book by Boris Vian of the same title. I created this riso print to sell in order to raise money to produce my final piece - a riso-printed guide to Vian’s Paris. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, I was unfortunately not able to print this book, as I did not have access to my university’s risograph, however I am planning to print it out as soon as possible. You can have a look at some of the prepared illustrations from the book on the next spread.

RECIPE F R O M ONE’S O W N H E A D ‘Recipe from one’s own head’ is a riso print based on a metaphorical saying in my main language - Slovak. The title is its literal translation, however it roughly means ‘a made-up recipe’.
