Introduzione Preface

Es lässt sich nur schwer in Worte fassen, wie viel mir das Klettern und insbesondere das Sarcatal bedeuten. Die Arbeit, die in diesem Kletterführer steckt, soll ein einfaches Zeichen der Dankbarkeit an einen Sport darstellen, der mir so viel mehr gegeben hat als bloße Genugtuung. Dem Klettern verdanke ich ambitionierte Träume, unvergessliche Reisen und wahre Freunde. Das Verfassen dieses Kletterführers hat es mir ermöglicht, die Klettergemeinschaft von Arco neu kennenzulernen und wiederzuentdecken. In Arco und im Sarcatal reicht die Geschichte des Kletterns bis in die 1930er Jahre zurück, als der legendäre Bruno Detassis die ersten Routen erschloss. In den 60er und 70er Jahren haben sich einige weltbekannte Alpinisten wie Reinhold Messner, Heini Holzer, Sergio Martini und viele andere an den Wänden des Tales versucht. Es dauerte aber bis Anfang der 80er Jahren, dass sich in Arco eine revolutionäre Entwicklung manifestierte: Das moderne Sportklettern war geboren, vor allem dank der Pionierleistungen von Maurizio „Manolo“ Zanolla, Heinz Mariacher, Roberto Bassi und Luisa Iovane. Manolo und Heinz führen uns in einem Vorwort „back to the roots“ und reflektieren über das freie Klettern in Arco. Ihre Aktivitäten haben eine ganze Generation geprägt und haben den Samen gesät, der in den darauffolgenden Jahren aufblühen konnte. Sie haben die Vision und Leidenschaft jener Kletterer beeinflusst, die dem Klettergebiet Arco schließlich zu internationalem Ansehen verhalfen: Danilo Bonvecchio, Gianguido Dalfovo, Fabio Leoni, Rolando Lacher, Sauro Merighi, Massimo Faletti, Diego Mabboni, Valerio Ballardini und viele andere. tern geworden, die die Passion für das Klettern verbreiten und mit anderen teilen. Mit diesem Kletterführer soll der Arbeit der Erschließer Respekt gezollt werden. Ihnen und ihrer grenzenlosen Leidenschaft ist es zu verdanken, dass Kletterer aus aller Welt an diesem wunderbaren Ort klettern können. Ihnen allen sage ich persönlich „Danke“. Im Zuge meiner Arbeit für diese dritte Ausgabe ist Luca Onorevoli zu einem Freund und Mitautor geworden. Ein Telefonanruf war alles, was nötig war. Sauro Merighi, der GGG des Sarcatals und Erschließer einiger der berühmtesten Felsen der Gegend, sagte mir einmal: „Wenn du Hilfe für den neuen Führer brauchst, versuche Luca Onorevoli anzurufen. Er ist immer auf dem neuesten Stand“. Luca ist ein leidenschaftlicher, bescheidener, einfacher und genauer Mensch. Ich möchte auch dir „Danke“ sagen. Ich möchte einige seiner Worte zitieren: „Vor mehr als zwanzig Jahren kam ich in Arco an, und ein Spielplatz eröffnete sich vor meinen Augen. Lange, kurze, plattige und steile Routen – vier Stile, die sich so stark voneinander unterscheiden, dass sie fast als verschiedene Sportarten definiert werden könnten. Es wird aus den seltsamsten Gründen geklettert: Einige klettern für den Grad, einige wegen der Gesellschaft, andere um Sport zu betreiben, das Adrenalin zu spüren oder um sich stark zu fühlen. Es gibt viele Gründe, und mit der Zeit, wenn man weiter klettert, wird man auch einen Motivationswechsel spüren. Auch für mich vergehen die Jahre, aber wenn ich an den Stand einer Route komme, drehe ich mich immer noch vor dem Ablassen kurz um und sehe das alles. Ich sehe den See mit seinen tausend Schattierungen je nach Tageszeit, den Berg Stivo mit Schnee oder Sommerwiesen bedeckt, ich sehe die Olivenbäume, die mich an die milden Winter erinnern. Unten angekommen, müde, aber zufrieden, entspanne ich mich bei einem Bier oder einem Eis. Was willst du mehr? Das ist Arco.“ In Anlehnung an die erste Ausgabe dieses Führers sind die Klettergebiete in fünf Hauptzonen

Heinz Mariacher „Arco war eine neue Herausforderung, die Möglichkeit, etwas Anderes zu schaffen.“ „Anfang der 80er Jahre war das Sportklettern noch eine Sache für sich. Wir erlebten dasselbe Gefühl von Freiheit wie in den Bergen – vielleicht sogar noch intensiver. Solange eine Gruppe klein ist, hat man sehr vielfältige Möglichkeiten, sich frei auszudrücken und besondere Erfahrungen zu sammeln. Ab dem Zeitpunkt, als ich zusammen mit Roberto Bassi die ersten handgemachten Spit einbohrte, hat mich das Sarcatal mehr als jeder Berg in seinen Bann gezogen. Als Alpinisten galten für uns nur lange Routen mit mehreren Seillängen als die „wahre“ Kletterei. Aber bald begriffen wir, dass sich das „wahre“ Klettern in einer einzigen Seillänge abspielen konnte, wo man für einzelne Züge alles gab und dank der guten Absicherung bis an sein Limit gehen konnte. Eingebohrt wurde von oben, aber wir probierten dabei keine Züge aus. Zusammen mit Roberto Bassi bohrte ich 1983 die glatte Wand von Swing ein, aber ein halbes Jahr lang wagte keiner von uns einen Versuch. Stürzen war für uns noch tabu. Wir verspürten eine Art mentale Blockade, die am Berg lebensnotwendig war. Ich habe mich der Swing erst gestellt, als ich mich bereit fühlte und ich sie sturzfrei bewältigten konnte. Damals waren wir nur wenige: Roberto Bassi, Manolo,

Luisa Iovane und einige andere, die neue Wände entdeckten und die Spielregeln festlegten. Keiner dieser Locals hätte es gewagt, sich abzuseilen um eine Route zu studieren, und sich so zum Gespött zu machen. Aber die ruhigen Jahre waren bald vorbei. Und so verschwand auch die Ehrfurcht vor den weiten Bohrhakenabständen, die für uns dazugehört hatten. Mit den Kletterern aus anderen Ländern und Klettergebieten erreichte uns auch eine neue, ausschließlich sportliche Mentalität. Sich von oben abseilen, probieren, Expressschlingen verlängern – all das wurde zur Normalität und machte weite Abstände obsolet. Heute gibt es die abenteuerliche Atmosphäre von damals nicht mehr, es zählt nur noch der Schwierigkeitsgrad. Bei dieser Gelegenheit möchte ich daran erinnern, dass das Klettern viele wertvolle Aspekte mit sich bringt, nicht nur den Grad. Es ist nicht nur ein Sport, sondern ein schönes und besonderes Lebensgefühl. Die Entwicklung zum Breitensport bringt wirtschaftlichen Aufschwung aber gleichzeitig auch neue Probleme mit sich, wie überfüllte Parkplätze. Glücklicherweise gibt es im Sarcatal genügend Felswände und ruhige, abgelegene Gebiete wie damals zu erkunden.“

1. Arco und Umgebung Arco e Dintorni / Arco and Surroundings Arco gilt seit den Neunzigerjahren als das italienische Klettermekka schlechthin. Hier sind die allerersten mit Bohrhaken ausgestatteten Sportklettergärten entstanden. Federführend waren die Pioniere Manolo, Mariarcher, Iovane und Bassi, die vor allem nach glatten, plattigen Wänden Ausschau hielten. So entstanden die sehr technischen Klettergärten Swing Area, Spiaggia delle Lucertole, Calvario und Bus de la Stria. Erst mit der fortschreitenden Entwicklung des Sportkletterns folgte man einer etwas anderen Logik und wagte sich auch an steilere Felswände: Massone, Nago, Grottosauro und Terra Promessa. Mittlerweile ist in der Umgebung um Arco für jeden Kletterer etwas dabei. Es gibt leichte Gebiete wie Belvedere, Muro dell’Asino, Piazzole und Marmitte dei Giganti, neu in diesem Führer. Schwierige Routen im achten und neunten Grad der französischen Skala sind in Massone, Eremo di San Paolo und Padaro zu finden. Obwohl viele Klettergärten nicht für die Sommermonate geeignet sind, gibt es Gebiete für jede Jahreszeit. Mögliche Optionen für heiße Tage sind Piccola Dallas und Red Point Wall, sowie die neu hinzugefügten Gebiete Finale Ampola und Futur Ampola. Angenehm ruhig gelegen ist Mandrea, und ein besonderes Juwel ist die Wand von Padaro. Dagli anni novanta Arco è senza dubbio la Mecca dell’arrampicata italiana. Nei dintorni di Arco sono nate le prime falesie attrezzate completamente a spit grazie all’intuizione di Manolo, Mariacher, Iovane e Bassi. Inizialmente la ricerca istintiva di pareti vergini avveniva su superfici rocciose liscie. Sono nate falesie molto tecniche come Swing Area, la Spiaggia delle Lucertole, il Calvario e il Bus de la Stria. Con il passare del tempo l’arrampicata si è evoluta e sono nate falesie di tutt’altra logica, a cominciare da Massone, dove si è sviluppata l’arrampicata su strapiombo, poi Nago, il Grottosauro e Terra Promessa. Nei dintorni di Arco troviamo falesie e vie

di qualunque grado. Ci sono infatti falesie facili come Belvedere, il Muro dell’Asino, le Piazzole e Marmitte dei Giganti, oppure falesie con itinerari di ottavo e nono grado della scala francese come Massone, l’Eremo di San Paolo e Padaro. Si può scalare d’inverno e d’estate, anche se per l’estate le falesie adatte non sono moltissime. Piccola Dallas e Red Point Wall sono delle valide opzioni per le giornate più calde, come anche Finale Ampola e Futur Ampola, aggiunte nella guida per la prima volta. Ci sono poi falesie molto tranquille come quella di Mandrea, ma la vera perla di Arco è l’impressionante muro di Padaro. Arco has been known as the Italian climbing Mecca since the 1990ies, when the first bolted sport climbing crags were developed thanks to the pioneers Manolo, Mariarcher, Iovane and Bassi. They looked primarily for smooth, slabby walls. Therefore the technical crags Swing Area, Spiaggia delle Lucertole, Calvario and Bus de la Stria were developed. Only with time and with the progressive development of sport climbing one followed a somewhat different logic and also ventured onto steeper rock walls. In Massone is where the climbing in the overhang began. There followed Nago, Grottosauro and Terra Promessa. Meanwhile, there is something for every climber in the Arco area. Futur Ampola und das nahe gelegene Finale Ampola sind zwei neue Klettergärten, die sich bestens für heiße Sommertage eignen. Futur Ampola liegt unweit vom Ampola-See im grünen Ledrotal und ist ein sehr familienfreundliches Gebiet.

Lo si supera e dopo circa un chilometro, prima del ponte sul torrente Palvico, si posteggia sulla sinistra in una piazzola.

Anfahrt: Von Arco in Richtung Riva del Garda fahren. In RIva die SS240 in Richtung Val di Ledro nehmen. Man passiert zuerst den Lago d‘Ampola bis zur Kreuzung, die nach Tremalzo führt. Daran vorbei und nach etwa einem Kilometer, vor der Brücke über den Fluss Palvico, links in einem Stellplatz parken.

Futur Ampola and the nearby Finale Ampola are two new climbing crags that are ideal for hot summer days. Futur Ampola is located in the surroundings of Lake Ampola in the green Ledro valley and is a very family-friendly area.

Zustieg: Die Straße überqueren, um in knapp zwei Minuten den Wandfuß zu erreichen.

Futur Ampola e la vicina Finale Ampola sono due recenti falesie ideali nelle calde giornate estive. Situata a breve distanza del Lago d’Ampola nella verdissima Val di Ledro, Futur Ampola è una falesia adatta alle famiglie.

Come arrivare: da Arco in direzione Riva del Garda. Da Riva del Garda imboccare la SS240 in direzione Val di Ledro. Si oltrepassa prima il Lago d’Ampola fino al bivio che conduce a Tremalzo.

Die Marmitte dei Giganti (auf Deutsch: Riesentöpfe) verdanken ihren Namen einigen uralten, einzigartigen Felsformationen, die im Laufe der Jahrhunderte durch die Bewegung der eiszeitlichen Gletscher und die Gletscherschmelze entstanden sind. Obwohl der Sektor Marmitta aus gutem Grund geschlossen wurde, um das Naturerbe zu schützen, sind einige einfache Kletterrouten noch vorhanden, die vor allem für Anfänger geeignet sind. Der angenehme Wandfuß schafft eine ideale Umgebung für Familien, das atemberaubende Panorama den perfekten Hintergrund für einen einmaligen Klettertag am Fels.

Anfahrt: Von Arco aus in Richtung Rovereto/ Nago fahren. Im Kreisverkehr in Nago die Ausfahrt nach Torbole nehmen und unmittelbar nach der ersten scharfen Kurve auf dem Panorama-Parkplatz parken, der einen unverwechselbaren Blick auf den Gardasee bietet. Zustieg: Vom Parkplatz aus die Straße nehmen, die nach Torbole hinunterführt, und nach einigen Dutzend Metern auf den Weg abbiegen, der zur „Palestra di Roccia“ (Klettergarten) führt. Diesem Weg abwärts folgen, bis die Olivenfelder am Fuß der Mauer erreicht sind. Da es sich bei diesem Grundstück um Privatbesitz handelt,

Le Marmitte dei Giganti devono il loro nome a delle antichissime formazioni rocciose, pozzi glaciali unici nel loro genere, formatesi attraverso la lavorazione millenaria dei ghiacciai data dal loro scioglimento. Nonostante il settore nella Marmitta sia stato chiuso (schiodato) per ovvie ragioni di rispetto del patrimonio naturale, rimangono dei facili e interessanti itinerari da scalare, soprattutto per i principianti. La base della parete si addice soprattutto alle famiglie, senza per questo dimenticare il panorama mozzafiato. Come arrivare: Da Arco in direzione Rovereto/Nago. Arrivati alla rotatoria di Nago, voltare subito a destra verso Torbole. Immediatamente dopo il primo tornante, parcheggiare nella piazzola panoramica che offre uno scorcio imperdibile sul Lago di Garda.

Accesso: Dal parcheggio riportarsi sulla strada che scende verso Torbole e dopo poche decine di metri prendere il sentiero che indica “Palestra di Roccia”. Scendere per un sentiero fino ad arrivare ai campi di ulivi alla base della

parete. Fare attenzione visto che ci si trova su terreno privato: rispettare la proprietà e non sporcare l’ambiente. The Marmitte dei Giganti (giants’ cooking pots) owe their name to some ancient, unique rock formations that have been formed over the centuries by the movement and melting of the glaciers. Although the Marmitta sector has been closed in order to protect the natural heritage, there are still some easier climbing routes that are particularly suitable for beginners. The pleasant foot of the wall creates an ideal environment for families, the breathtaking panorama represents the perfect background for a unique climbing day on the rock.

Arrival: From Arco drive in the direction of Rovereto/Nago. At the roundabout in Nago, take the exit for Torbole and immediately after the first sharp bend, park in the panoramic car park with its unmistakable view of Lake Garda. Approach: From the car park, take the road that goes down to Torbole and after a few dozen metres turn onto the path that leads to the “Palestra di Roccia” (climbing crag). Continue down this path until you reach the olive groves at the foot of the wall. 2. Sarcatal Valle del Sarca / Sarca Valley Die jüngste Entwicklung der Klettergebiete im oberen Sarcatal und der umliegenden Gegend ist einzigartig. So fällt von der Küste des malerischen Toblino Sees der Felszug von Bassilandia ins Auge, einem der wohl beeindruckendsten Klettergärten dieses Führers. Fährt man weiter nach Süden Richtung Arco, so reiht sich auf der rechten Seite eine Wand an die andere: von Babilonia über Panoramica, Athos und Sisyphos bis hin zu den Felsen von Camerette, Baule, Muro di Chitarra und Giardino di Nato. All diese Gebiete sind spektakulär, nicht nur wegen der Felsqualität sondern auch aufgrund der atemberaubenden Aussicht, die sie bieten. Es gibt familienfreundliche Spots wie San Siro und Cavedine. Für die Freunde von rotem Kalkstein ist Athos mit beeindruckenden Routen um den 7. Grad zu empfehlen. An warmen Sommertagen kann man sich in den historischen Klettergarten Gola di Toblino zurückziehen. À propos „Old school“ – für die Liebhaber dieses Stils ist die Wand von Santa Massenza ein absolutes Muss. An sonnigen, schneearmen Wintertagen ist ein Ausflug nach Margone, Coel della Val della Porta, Ranzo oder Vaticano empfehlenswert. Neu veröffentlicht wurden die Klettergebiete Castel Madruzzo, Dos Pelà und Maso Limarò. Non ci sono parole per descrivere l’evoluzione che ha subito negli ultimi anni la zona dell’alta Valle del Sarca e delle zone limitrofe. Costeggiando il Lago di Toblino non si può fare a meno di notare la fascia di roccia di Bassilandia, una delle falesie migliori in assoluto descritte in questa guida. Scendendo poi ancora verso Arco, sulla destra si noteranno i muri di Babilonia, la Panoramica, Athos e Sisyphos, fino al muro di Camerette, Baule, Muro di Chitarra e Giardino di Nato. Tutte queste falesie sono spettacolari non solo per la qualità della roccia, ma anche per il panorama che offrono. Sono presenti nume-

rose falesie adatte alle famiglie, come San Siro e Cavedine. Per gli amanti della roccia “rossa” è vivamente consigliata la falesia di Athos che ha alcune linee intorno al 7° grado veramente mozzafiato. Per le giornate più calde ci si può rifugiare nella falesia storica Gola di Toblino. A proposito di “old school”, per gli amanti del genere non bisogna trascurare Santa Massenza. Per le giornate di sole invernali si consiglia una gita fuori porta verso Margone, Coel della Val della Porta, Ranzo, Vaticano, Bersaglio e Herr Wall. Le falesie Castel Madruzzo, Dos Pelà e Maso Limarò sono state nuovamente aggiunte. The recent development of the climbing areas in the upper Sarca valley and the surrounding area is exceptional. From the shore of the picturesque Toblino lake the wall of Bassilandia immediately draws attention as one of the most impressive crags described in this guide. Der Klettergarten liegt über dem Lago di Cavedine und bietet vorwiegend technische und delikate Kletterei. Dank seiner Ausrichtung nach Westen kann hier auch an heißeren Tagen geklettert werden, vorausgesetzt man kommt bereits am Vormittag zum Klettern.

Anfahrt: Von Arco Richtung Trient/Dro fahren. In Dro angekommen, rechts Richtung Lago di Cavedine abbiegen. Bei der Kreuzung in einer Kehre die Straße links nach Lago di Cavedine einschlagen und bis kurz vor den See fahren, dort rechts zur Ortschaft Trebi abzweigen. Das Dorf durchqueren und einige Kehren nach oben fahren. Der Klettergarten liegt gleich neben der Straße, ist jedoch durch die Bäume etwas schwer ersichtlich. Am besten am Straßenrand kurz nach einer großen Oliventerrasse auf der linken Seite parken. Zustieg: Die Straße einige Meter zurückgehen und dann links einen Weg zum Klettergarten einschlagen.

Come arrivare: da Arco in direzione Trento/ Dro. Arrivati a Dro svoltare in direzione Lago di Cavedine. Al bivio su un tornante prendere la strada che porta al Lago di Cavedine, poco prima del quale sale una strada sulla destra che porta in località Trebi. Oltrepassare la località e continuare per alcuni tornanti. Salendo si scorge difficilmente la parete immersa nel bosco sulla destra. Si può comunque parcheggiare la macchina sul lato della strada, appena dopo un grande terrazzo di ulivi che si scorge sulla sinistra.

Accesso: dal parcheggio percorrere la strada a ritroso e salire verso sinistra nel bosco su un piccolo sentierino.

Esposta a ovest e affacciata sul lago di Cavedine, questa falesia immersa nel bosco offre un’arrampicata tecnica e delicata. La sua esposizione permette di arrampicare anche durante le giornate calde, ammesso che si venga qui già la mattina.

2.5 Cavedine

The crag is situated above the Lago di Cavedine and offers predominantly technical and delicate climbing. Due to its western orientation, it is possible to climb here on hot days, assuming a visit during the morning hours. Arrival: From Arco drive towards Trento/Dro. Once in Dro, turn right in the direction of Lago di Cavedine. At the intersection in a hairpin bend go left towards Lago di Cavedine and drive just short of the lake where you turn in the direction of the village Trebi. Cross the village and go up a few hairpin bends. Though the wall is located directly next to the road, it is not easily visible because of some trees. It is best to park on the left side of the road after a big olive grove. Approach: Walk back on the road for a few meters and take the path to the crag on the left. Der Klettergarten von Castel Madruzzo eignet sich ausgezeichnet für das Klettern im mittelschweren Bereich. Der Fels wurde schon vor Jahren entdeckt, die Routen wurden von der Comunità Valle dei Laghi – Gemeinde Castel Madruzzo vollständig mit Verbundhaken ausgestattet. Vor Kurzem sind im linken Bereich einige Routen mit Inox-Bohrhaken entstanden. Die Route Brandeburgo besticht durch gute Henkel und große Griffe und bietet sich als eine der wohl schönsten Aufwärmrouten des Tales an. Anfahrt: Von Arco aus in Richtung Trient/ Dro fahren. Ab Dro die Provinzstraße SP 84 in Richtung Drena nehmen und zunächst nach Cavedine, dann nach Lasino fahren. In Richtung Calavino beim Schild „Castel Madruzzo“ nach rechts abbiegen. Wenige Meter nach der Abzweigung sind die Hinweise zum Klettergarten zu sehen; auf der linken Seite im Dorf parken. Zustieg: Zu Fuß an der Kirche vorbei, den Schildern zur „Falesia Castel Madruzzo“ folgen, zuerst auf einer gepflasterten Straße, dann auf einem Feldweg. Der Klettergarten ist in 15-20 Minuten problemlos zu erreichen.

Come arrivare: da Arco in direzione Trento/ Dro. Da Dro prendere la SP 84 in direzione Drena. Si percorre la strada provinciale proseguendo per Cavedine prima e Lasino poco dopo. In direzione per Calavino svoltare sulla destra al cartello Castel Madruzzo. Pochi metri dopo la svolta si trovano già le indicazioni per la falesia: si parcheggia sulla sinistra in paese. Accesso: oltrepassata a piedi la chiesetta si seguono le indicazioni “Falesia Castel Madruzzo”, su strada ciottolata prima, su traccia sterrata poi. Impossibile sbagliare. In 15-20 minuti si arriva facilmente alla base della parete.

Castel Madruzzo è una falesia che si presta alla perfezione alla scalata di medio livello. La falesia, nonostante sia stata scoperta anni addietro, è stata chiodata dalla Comunità Valle dei Laghi - Comune di Castel Madruzzo interamente a fittoni resinati. Si sono aggiunte solo recentemente delle vie a spit in inox nella parte sinistra. Probabilmente la via Brandeburgo si presta ad essere uno dei riscaldi più belli della valle su canne lavorate e prese grandi.

2.8 Castel Madruzzo

The Castel Madruzzo climbing crag is ideal for medium difficulty climbing. The rock was discovered years ago and the routes were completely equipped with adhesive bolts by the Comunità Valle dei Laghi - Municipality of Castel Madruzzo. Recently some routes with stainless steel bolts have been created on the left. The route Brandeburgo with its large jugs and good handles is probably one of the most beautiful warmups in the valley. Arrival: From Arco drive in the direction of Trient/Dro. From Dro, take the provincial road SP 84 towards Drena and follow follow it first towards Cavedine, then towards Lasino. Turn right towards Calavino at the “Castel Madruzzo” sign. A few metres after the junction you will see the signs for the climbing garden; park in the village on the left.

3. Judikarische Täler Valli Giudicarie / Giudicarie Valleys Versteckt hinter den hohen Wänden des Sarcatals eröffnen die Judikarischen Täler am Fuße der Brentagruppe eine atemberaubende Kulisse. Wenn man von Sarche aus die kurvenreiche Straße Richtung Madonna di Campiglio einschlägt, kann man sich die Weite und Größe der parallel dazu gelegenen Täler kaum wirklich vorstellen. Der Großteil der Wände in diesem Gebiet eignet sich hervorragend für das Klettern im Sommer oder an wärmeren Frühlings- und Herbsttagen. Das Val Lomasone wartet mit einem Kletterpark und verschiedenen Sektoren auf, die alle Schwierigkeitsstufen abdecken und insbesondere bei Anfängern beliebt sind. Ideale Klettergärten für Familien sind Promeghin, mitten in einem Wald gelegen und mit Tischen für ein gemütliches Picknick ausgestattet, oder Croz de le Niere, wo man gleich in der Nähe der Wand parken kann. Für Eltern, die in höheren Graden klettern möchten, empfiehlt sich Comano, ebenso mit sehr kurzem Zustieg. Wer gerne in mittleren bis hohen Schwierigkeitsgraden klettert, ist in Coltura oder in Sunny Place genau richtig, ersterer mit angenehm raschem Zugang, der letztere nach Süden ausgerichtet ist und somit auch für die Wintertage bestens geeignet. Ein guter Tipp für besonders heiße Tage sind die Gebiete Val d’Algone und Molveno, beide sehr ruhig und gemütlich gelegen. Nascoste dietro le grandi pareti della Valle del Sarca, le Valli Giudicarie offrono un ambiente strepitoso, a ridosso del gruppo del Brenta. Quando da Sarche si imbocca la strada che sale verso Madonna di Campiglio non ci si può neanche immaginare quanto ampie siano le valli parallele. La maggior parte delle falesie di questa zona si prestano benissimo per l’arrampicata in estate o comunque per calde giornate primaverili o autunnali. La Val Lomasone offre un parco per l’arrampicata perfettamente attrezzato, con diversi settori e un’arrampicata che soddisfa

quasi tutti, molto apprezzato dai principianti. Per le famiglie invece sono ideali falesie come Promeghin, immersa nel bosco e con panchine e tavolini per un comodo pic-nic, oppure Croz de le Niere, dove si può parcheggiare a ridosso della falesia. Comano si presta molto per i genitori che cercano qualcosa di più difficile con un accesso molto breve. Per coloro invece che amano scalare su difficoltà medio-alte consigliamo Coltura, con un accesso assai breve e Sunny Place, quest’ultima comunque adatta per giornate invernali con sole in quanto esposta a sud. Per il caldo insopportabile infine conviene recarsi in Val d’Algone, immersa in un ambiente naturale suggestivo e tranquillo. Hidden behind the high walls of the Sarca valley, the Giudicarie valleys - located at the Base of the Brenta Group - offer a spectacular scenery. When taking the curvy road from Sarche towards Madonna di Campiglio, it is difficult to imagine the width and size of the parallel valleys. The majority of the walls in this area offer excellent climbing during summer or on warmer spring and autumn days. The Val Lomasone awaits climbers with perfectly equipped walls and various sectors, covering all grades and are very sought after by beginners. Ideal crags for families are Promeghin, located in the middle of a forest and equipped with a comfortable picnic area, or Croz de le Niere, where it is possible to park right next to the wall. For parents wanting to climb in the higher grades, Comano with its short approach is worth a visit as well. Climbers looking for medium and higher grades, are right at home in Coltura or in Sunny Place, the first one with a quick approach and the second suitable for winter with its south facing wall. A good tip for particularly hot days are the crags of Val d’Algone and Molveno, both in a very quiet and comfortable location.

3.1 Comano Comano

Der Felsriegel von Comano liegt etwas versteckt im Wald. Durch die Schatten spendenden Bäume und die günstige Ausrichtung ist er vor allem an heißen Tagen ein ideales Ziel. Im Klettergarten sind Routen im niedrigen, mittleren und auch hohen Schwierigkeitsgrad vorzufinden. Der gemütliche Platz im Wald rund um den Fels ist ein guter Tipp für Familien.

Anfahrt: Von Arco Richtung Trient/Sarche fahren. In Sarche angekommen, links Richtung Madonna di Campiglio abbiegen und die ansteigende Straße hochfahren. Nach einigen Kilometern die Ortschaft Ponte Arche passieren und am Dorfende links Richtung Gondenzo/Comano abzweigen. Der Straße über einige Kehren nach oben und durch die Ortschaft Gondenzo folgen, anschließend am Dorfende links nach Comano abzweigen. Im Ort Comano rechts zwischen der Kirche und einem Gasthaus (Trattoria) die Straße hoch und weiter in den Wald fahren. Wenige hundert Meter nach der dritten Kehre befinden sich links und rechts der Straße Parkbuchten. Von hier aus kann man bereits die Felsen auf der linken Seite erkennen.

Zustieg: Vom Parkplatz aus dem Schild „Palestra roccia“ durch den Wald bis zur Wand folgen.

Come arrivare: da Arco in direzione Trento/ Sarche. Arrivati a Sarche, svoltare a sinitra in direzione Madonna di Campiglio. Salire per la strada che porta nelle Valli Giudicarie e proseguire fino a Ponte Arche. Da qui svoltare a sinistra in direzione Comano. Continuare oltrepassando il paese di Godenzo e svoltare nuovamente a sinistra, sempre verso Comano. Arrivati a Comano oltrepassare il centro e svoltare a destra prima di una vecchia trattoria. Seguendo questa strada si arriva a un tornante dove è indicata la strada con un cartello (palestra di roccia). Proseguire oltre e, dopo il 3° tornante (quello verso destra), proseguire ancora un po’ fino a dove si intravede la roccia sulla sinistra. Parcheggiare negli spiazzi. Accesso: dal parcheggio salire nel bosco fino alla parete.

Questa falesia immersa in un bellissimo bosco e molto vicina alla strada è ideale per le famiglie. Grazie alla sua esposizione e alla sua ubicazione nel bosco, favorisce appunto l’arrampicata anche durante le giornate calde. L’arrampicata è perlopiú su parete leggermente strapiombante e con molte tacche.

3.1 Comano

The rock sill of Comano is somewhat hidden in the forest. The shadow offered by the trees as well as the favorable orientation make it an ideal place for summer. This crag offers routes in the lower, medium as well as higher grades. The cozy atmosphere created by the spot in the forest makes this crag a worthwhile destination for families. Arrival: From Arco head in the direction of Trento/Sarche. Once in Sarche, turn left towards Madonna di Campiglio and follow the road upward. After a few kilometers you pass the town of Ponte Arche and at its end, turn left in

the direction of Gondenzo/Comano. In Comano pass in between the church and a restaurant (trattoria) and follow the road up into the forest. A few hundred meters after the third turn there are parking bays on the left and right side of the road. The wall is visible from here on the left side. Sunny Place liegt idyllisch in einem Wald etwas oberhalb von Stenico. Der Klettergarten bietet hervorragende Felsqualität und anspruchsvolle Routen. Nach Regentagen bleibt die Wand zwar für einige Zeit nass, aber sobald trocken, ist hier überaus interessante Kletterei garantiert. Die Bäume am Wandfuß versprechen kühlenden Schatten an heißen Tagen. Anfahrt: Von Arco Richtung Trient/Sarche. In Sarche links Richtung Madonna di Campiglio abbiegen, der Straße folgen und einige Tunnel passieren. Nach einer langen Rechtskurve (vor Ponte Arche) befindet sich links eine Brücke, diese überqueren und in Richtung Stenico/Molveno fahren. In Villa Banale links nach Stenico abbiegen. Dort angekommen die Straße nehmen, welche nach Molveno führt. Nach den letzten Häusern bei einer Bushaltestelle auf der linken Seite eine Nebenstraße hochfahren (Via Doss Marin). Am Ende des Anstieges rechts und gleich darauf links auf eine Forstraße abbiegen, um schließlich neben der Straße zu parken.

Zustieg: Vom Parkplatz einer Fortstraße bis zum Ende der Steinmauer folgen. Hier beginnt rechts ein Weg, welcher weiter zur Forstraße führt. Dort links weitergehen bis zu einer Wegkreuzung. Allerdings nicht den ersten auf der

Immersa in un bosco idilliaco, poco sopra l’abitato di Stenico, Sunny Place offre una roccia compattissima e delle linee molto interessanti e dure. Dopo giornate di pioggia la falesia ci mette un po’ ad asciugarsi, ma una volta asciutta assicura una bellissima arrampicata. La base della parete inoltre è molto comoda e gli alberi offrono un po’ di refrigerio durante le giornate più calde.

Come arrivare: da Arco in direzione Trento/ Sarche. Arrivati a Sarche svoltare a sinistra in direzione Madonna di Campiglio. Proseguire sulla strada che porta verso le Valli Giudicarie e oltrepassare alcune gallerie. Dopo le varie gallerie e subito dopo una lunga curva verso destra (prima di Ponte Arche) c’è un ponte, sempre sulla destra, che porta verso Stenico e Molveno. Prendere quella strada e proseguire verso Villa Banale. Oltrepassare il paese di Villa Banale e continuare verso Stenico. Arrivati a Stenico proseguire verso Molveno e poco prima delle ultime case, vicino alla fermata dell’autobus, c’è una strada ripida che sale sulla sinistra (via Doss Marin). destra e subito dopo nuovamente a sinistra, per parcheggiare poi su uno spiazzo vicino a un traliccio. Accesso: dal parcheggio proseguire diritti sulla strada fino alla fine del muretto di sassi sulla destra. Da qui parte un sentiero a destra che si ricongiunge poi alla forestale. Arrivati sulla forestale, girare a sinistra e andare fino al bivio: attenzione a non prendere il sentiero marcato in blu, ma quello pochi metri più avanti, contrassegnato da un ometto di sassi. Il ripido sentiero porta ai piedi della falesia. Sunny Place lies in an idyllic spot in the forest above Stenico. The wall offers superb quality rock and challenging climbs. The wall remains wet for a while after rain, but once dry, interesting climbing is guaranteed. The trees near the base of the wall offer shade on hot days. 4. Trient und Umgebung Trento e Dintorni / Trento and Surroundings Die Hauptstadt des Trentino und ihre umliegenden Täler überraschen mit einigen wahren Juwelen. Forti di Civazzano ist zu einem sehr umfangreichen Klettergarten herangewachsen und bietet Routen für jeden Geschmack. Um eine ruhige Umgebung und die Aussicht auf die Stadt Trient zu genießen, empfehlen sich die Wände von Calisio, Drago Nascosto, Scudo und Feudo, die eine schöne, technische Kletterei auf kompaktem Fels versprechen. In Celva ist die lange Geschichte dieses schönen Gebiets förmlich spürbar. Ein bisschen Erfrischung findet man unweit von Trient in den Klettergärten La Vela und Schizzolandia. In den warmen Sommertagen ist es ratsam, sich in die nördlich ausgerichteten Wände zurückzuziehen, wie etwa Muro dei 70 Scalini, Ferrovia oder Cadaverificio. Diese wunderschön gelegenen Klettergärten von Al Prà und Rizzolaga dürften auch jene überzeugen, die das Klettern auf Porphyr weniger mögen. In der Gegend um das Tal der Seen haben die Erschließer einige wahrhaftige Schmuckstücke erschaffen, wie Bus de Vela, Monte Terlago, Prada und Lamar. Für Familien eignen sich Spormaggiore, Spina und Vason. Etwas weiter nördlich Richtung Etschtal findet man die Klettergärten Zambana und Mezzoluna vor, Cavedago ist eine Pflichtstation im unteren Nonstal. Il capoluogo trentino e i suoi dintorni offrono qualche chicca nascosta sui vari muri che circondano le vallate della città. Forti di Civezzano è diventata una falesia molto grande, che offre un’arrampicata per tutti i gusti. Per godere invece di un bel panorama in tranquillità sulla città di Trento, basta recarsi nelle falesie di Calisio, Drago Nascosto, Scudo o il Feudo, che tra l’altro offrono una bellissima arrampicata tecnica su muri compatti. La falesia di Celva è una delle più belle e ricche di storia del capoluogo. Per un po’ di refrigerio a pochi chilometri da Trento ci sono le falesie La Vela e Schizzolan-

dia. Durante le calde giornate è meglio rifugiarsi nelle falesie esposte a nord, poco lontane da Trento, come il Muro dei 70 Scalini, la Ferrovia o il Cadaverificio. Anche per coloro che non amano il porfido le falesie di Al Prà e Rizzolaga sono gioiellini inseriti in un contesto naturale unico. Nella zona della Valle dei Laghi sono nate delle vere e proprie perle come il Bus de Vela, Monte Terlago, Prada e Lamar. Per le famiglie sono raccomandate le falesie di Spormaggiore, Spina e Vason. Se invece si decide di spostarsi verso nord della Valle dell’Adige ci sono da visitare le falesie di Zambana e Mezzoluna. Quasi obbligatoria una tappa alla falesia di Cavedago, situata nella bassa Val di Non. Der Klettergarten Lamar – von den Locals auch „Busetto“ genannt – ist der perfekte Ort für heiße Tage in der Zwischensaison. Die Routen sind sehr vielfältig und die Felsqualität ist ausgezeichnet. Eingerichtet wurde der Klettergarten von Valerio Ballardini mit Unterstützung von Alessio Miori und Mattia Piffer. Das Gebiet bietet tolle Routen an einer leicht überhängenden Wand mit intensiven Passagen. Sehr empfehlenswert!

La falesia di Lamar, anche chiamata dai local il “Busetto”, rappresenta la soluzione ideale per le giornate calde delle mezze stagioni, sia per varietà di itinerari che per la qualità della roccia. Chiodata da Valerio Ballardini con il contributo di Alessio Miori e Mattia Piffer, la falesia di Lamar regala tiri di soddisfazione su parete leggermente strapiombante con passi intensi di blocco. Consigliata!

Anfahrt: Von Arco in Richtung Trento/Sarche fahren. Durch die Ortschaft Sarche und der Beschilderung nach Vezzano/Valle dei Laghi folgen. Auf der Staatsstraße bleibend Vezzano hinter sich lassen, am Restaurant „Al Vecchio Mulino“ vorbei, bis man den Ort Vigolo Baselga erreicht. Weiter der Beschilderung nach Terlago, dann nach Monte Terlago/Laghi di Lamar folgen. Geradeaus weiter und kurz vor dem ersten See rechts parken, wo sich der Parkplatz des Picknick-Areals mit Grillstellen befindet.

Come arrivare: a Arco viaggiare in direzione Trento / Sarche. Oltrepassare l’abitato di Sarche fino a trovare le indicazioni per Vezzano / Valle dei Laghi. Oltrepassare Vezzano e, rimanendo sulla strada statale, oltrepassare anche il ristorante “Al Vecchio Mulino” fino a giungere nei pressi di Vigolo Baselga. Proseguire seguendo le indicazioni per Terlago prima e Monte Terlago / Laghi di Lamar dopo. Proseguire dritti fino a raggiungere un parcheggio sulla destra poco prima del primo lago, in corrispondenza del parcheggio dei focolari, un’area adibita a pic-nic e grigliate.

Zustieg: Vom Parkplatz aus sich rechts haltend die Wiese des Picknickplatzes überqueren, anschließend den Weg in den Wald nehmen, der in Richtung „Lago di Terlago“ („Terlago-See“) führt. Nach 100 Metern ist der Fels bereits oben links zu sehen und der Wandfuß ist in Kürze erreicht.

The routes are varied and the rock quality is excellent. The crag was bolted by Valerio Ballardini with support from Alessio Miori and Mattia Piffer. The wall offers exciting moves on a slightly overhanging wall with intensive sequences. Very recommendable!

Approach: From the car park, keep right and cross the meadow of the picnic area, then take the path in the woods that leads to “Lago di Terlago” (“Terlago Lake”). Diese wunderschöne Tafel aus Kalk liegt oberhalb des kleinen Dorfes Terlago. Durch die günstige Wandausrichtung ist es hier auch möglich, an sonnigen Wintertagen zu klettern. Zudem bietet der Klettergarten eine herrliche Aussicht ins Tal der Seen (Valle dei Laghi) und auf den Hausberg von Trient, den Monte Bondone.

Anfahrt: Von Arco Richtung Trient fahren. Kurz nach dem Dorf Vigolo Baselga links nach Terlago/Laghi di Lamar abbiegen. Bei der Kirche in Terlago angekommen, gleich in die Straße (zwischen Kirche und rotem Haus) nach rechts einbiegen. Etwa 30 Meter dahinter befindet sich die Piazza del Torchio, wo man das Auto abstellen kann. Neben der Kirche gibt es einen weiteren großen Parkplatz. Zustieg: Von der Piazza di Torchio durch das Portal auf der rechten Seite gehen und der Straße folgen. Bei der Straße Sotto Sas angekommen, nicht links hoch, sondern weiter geradeaus bis zum Dorfrand gehen. An einer Abzweigung links eine kleine Straße nach oben einschlagen (Fahrverbotsschild). Diese führt zu einem eingezäunten Garten mit Weinreben, an dessen Ende eine Abzweigung folgt. Ein breiter Weg führt links hoch in den Wald. Den blauen Markierungen

Questa splendida lavagna di calcare molto compatto si trova proprio sopra il paesino di Terlago ed è visibile anche dalla strada provinciale che porta da Trento ad Arco. Grazie alla sua esposizione, qui è possibile arrampicare anche durante soleggiate giornate d’inverno. Inoltre questa falesia offre un bellissimo panorama sulla Valle dei Laghi e sulla montagna di casa dei trentini, il monte Bondone. Come arrivare: da Arco viaggiare in direzione Trento. Poco dopo il paesino di Vigolo Baselga deviare a sinistra verso Terlago/Laghi di Lamar. Arrivati in paese, sulla destra si trova la chiesa, svoltare a destra in una stradina che passa tra la chiesa e una casa rossa. Pochi metri dopo si arriva alla Piazza del Torchio. Parcheggiare qui la macchina, oppure poco prima, nel piazzale della chiesa.

Accesso: dalla piazza del Torchio passare sotto un portico sulla destra e continuare diritti per la strada. Poco dopo, sulla sinistra, sale la

strada via Sotto Sas: non seguire questa, ma proseguire dritti fino alla fine del paese. Arrivati a un bivio prendere la strada che sale a sinistra (cartello di divieto). Questa strada corre lungo un giardino di vigne, proseguire fino alla fine. Da lì proseguire nuovamente a sinistra per un sentiero ripido nel bosco. Seguendo il sentiero marcato di blu, dopo pochi minuti si arriva a un ometto di sassi. Da qui sale un sentiero sulla destra, che porta direttamente ai piedi del settore A. Per arrivare al settore B invece proseguire lungo il sentiero sotto la parete, verso destra. This wonderful limestone „shield “ lies directly above the small village of Terlago. Due to the favorable orientation, it is possible to climb here on sunny winter days. Furthermore, this crag offers a wonderful view of the Valley of the lakes (Valle dei Laghi) and Trento’s local mountain, Monte Bondone.

Arrival: From Arco drive towards Trento. Shortly after the village of Vigolo Baselga turn left towards Terlago/Laghi di Lamar. At the church in Terlago, turn right into the street between the church and the red house. Approximately 30 meters behind it is Piazza di Torchio where it is possible to park. Next to the church there is another big parking lot. Approach: From Piazza di Torchio walk through the visible portal and follow the road. At the street named Sotto Sas, don’t go up left, but continue straight to the end of the village. At a branch-off take a small uphill road on the left (no transit sign). This road leads to a fenced garden with vines with an intersection at its end. A wide path leads up left into the forest. 5. Rovereto und Umgebung Rovereto e Dintorni / Rovereto and Surroundings Das Städtchen Rovereto ist von Arco aus über den San Giovanni-Pass schnell zu erreichen. Unweit vom Stadtzentrum gibt es einige sehr interessante Klettergärten. Das milde Klima der Gegend begünstigt das Klettern im Winter, ein Beispiel dafür ist das Gebiet Noriglio. Eine spannende Wand mit vielen schweren Routen im Überhang ist jene von Eremo di San Colombano, hier auf die Öffnungszeiten der Einsiedelei achten. Unweit davon und gleich neben der Straße liegt der Klettergarten Acheni, auch lohnend. Serrada ist die ideale Option für alle, die im 6. Grad der französischen Skala zuhause sind. Wer seine Fertigkeiten im Überhang auf die Probe stellen will, ist in L’Orrido oder Zengio del Far Noter genau richtig. Während sich ersterer in einer abgelegenen, etwas abweisend wirkenden Schlucht befindet, ist der zweite von wunderschöner Natur umgeben. Die wohl lohnenswertesten Wände der Gegend sind zweifelsohne Piste dei Dinosauri in Rovereto und Nomesino im unteren Grestatal, sei es wegen der Felsqualität als auch der Vielfalt an Routen. Ein weiteres Highlight ist Kripta, mit technischen und dynamischen Routen in einer unberührten und sehr ruhigen Atmosphäre. Eine besondere Perle ist auch Tassilandia mit Routen verschiedenster Stile und Neigungen. La città di Rovereto è raggiungibile in breve tempo da Arco attraverso il passo San Giovanni. Queste zone hanno alcune falesie molto interessanti da offrire, molto vicine al centro di Rovereto. Il clima mite favorisce l’arrampicata in inverno, per esempio nella falesia di Noriglio. Molto interessante è l’Eremo di San Colombano, dove ci sono molte vie dure su strapiombo e l’accesso è molto breve – prestare attenzione agli orari d’apertura per le visite dell’Eremo. Nelle vicinanze si trova la falesia di Acheni, appena sopra la strada. Serrada è l’opzione per coloro a cui piace scalare intorno al 6° grado della scala

francese. Per coloro che vogliono misurare le loro capacità su grandi strapiombi ci sono L’Orrido e lo Zengio del Far Noter: il primo si trova in una gola quasi inospitale, mentre il secondo si trova immerso in una bellissima natura. Le falesie più meritevoli della zona, sia per qualità della roccia che per la varietà dei tiri, sono indubbiamente le Piste dei Dinosauri e Nomesino, situate rispettivamente a Rovereto e in bassa Val di Gresta. Due perle sono la falesia della Kripta, caratterizzata da una scalata tecnica ed esplosiva e da un ambiente selvaggio e molto silenzioso, e Tassilandia, caratterizzata da itinerari con stili ed inclinazioni di tutti i tipi. The town of Rovereto is easily accessible from Arco via the San Giovanni Pass. There are some very interesting crags, which are not far from the center of Rovereto. The mild climate of the area encourages climbing in the winter, for example at the Noriglio crag. An exciting wall is Eremo di San Colombano, where many hard routes in the overhang demand a lot from the climbers. Please note the opening hours of the hermitage. Not far from the said wall and next to the road lies the crag Acheni, which is also worthwhile. Serrada is the ideal option for those who are at home climbing routes in the 6th French grade. Those who want to test their skills in the overhanging routes are at the right place at l’Orrido or Zengio del Far Noter. While the first is located in a remote, somewhat uninviting gorge, the second is surrounded by beautiful nature. Undoubtedly, the most worthwhile walls of the area are Piste dei Dinosauri in Rovereto and Nomesino in the lower Gresta Valley, both because of the rock quality and the variety of routes. Two special highlights are Kripta, with technical and dynamic routes in an untouched and very quiet atmosphere, and Tassilandia, a rock that offers routes of various styles and inclinations.

Das Gebiet Cola Grant bietet technische und boulderähnliche Kletterei an einer leicht überhängenden Wand. Der Fels ist grau bis weißlich mit Leisten, einigen Löchern und kleinen Sintern. Im rechten Sektor sollte man vor allem auf den ersten Klettermetern besonders aufpassen. Dort ist der Wandbereich noch etwas bröcklig, obwohl bereits geputzt. Einige Absicherungen haben etwas weitere Abstände.

Anfahrt: Von Arco in Richtung Rovereto. Dort angekommen am Millennium Center und am Bahnhof vorbei und immer weiter nach Norden in Richtung Trient. Rovereto verlassen, weiter in Richtung Calliano und bei der Ausfahrt Besenello abfahren. In das Dorf fahren und entlang der Straße, welche zur Burg Beseno führt, parken. Der Klettergarten ist vom Parkplatz aus gut sichtbar. Zustieg: Vom Parkplatz zu Fuß eine steile Betonstraße empor bis hinter den ersten Wall. Jetzt links abbiegen und dem Weg für ca. 100 Meter folgen. Dann den Pfad nehmen, der in etwa 10 Minuten zum rechten Felsbereich führt.

Come arrivare: da Arco viaggiare in direzione Rovereto. Arrivati a Rovereto oltrepassare il Millenium Center, la stazione dei treni/corriere e continuare sempre in direzione nord verso Trento. Uscire da Rovereto e proseguire in direzione Calliano e poi prendere l’uscita per Besenello. Entrare in paese e parcheggiare lungo la strada che porta al Castel Beseno.La falesia è ben visibile dal parcheggio.

Accesso: dal parcheggio si sale a piedi per una strada ripida cementata fino ad arrivare dietro al primo vallo, svoltare a sinistra e costeggiarlo per circa 100 metri, poi imboccare il sentiero che in diagonale porta in salita al settore destro della falesia in circa 10 minuti.

La Cola Grant offre un’arrampicata tecnica e boulderosa su muro leggermente strapiombante, roccia grigio-biancastra a tacche con qualche bel buco e cannetta. Fare attenzione alla prima parte dei tiri, specialmente nel settore destro, in quanto la roccia risulta a tratti friabile anche se ripulita. Qualche tiro è chiodato un po’ lungo.

5.1 Cola Grant

The area of Cola Grant offers technical and bouldery climbing on a slightly overhanging wall. The rock is grey and whitish with crimps, some pockets and small tufas. Caution is advisable especially on the right sector. The rock is still brittle, as it has just recently been restored. There are bigger distances between the protection at times.

Approach: From the parking space walk up a steep concrete road until after the first rampart, then go left and follow the trail for about 100m. Follow the path, which will lead you to the right side of the wall in about 10 minutes. Erschließer / Chiodatori / Developers / Chiodatori locali

Arrival: From Arco go in direction of Rovereto. Once in Rovereto, pass the Millennium Center and the train station and continue north towards Trento. Leave Rovereto, drive in the direction of Calliano and get off at the exit Besenello. Drive into the village and park along the road which leads to the castle of Beseno. The crag is visible from the parking space.

Bereits im 13. Jahrhundert hat man diesesn Felsriegel entdeckt und genutzt, allerdings nicht um zu klettern, sondern um eine Kapelle (Eremo, Einsiedelei) am Wandfuß zu errichten. Einige hundert Jahre später wurde hier schließlich auch mit dem Klettern begonnen. Es gibt zahlreiche Routen, aber leider sind viele noch mit alten Bohrhaken ausgestattet, die mittlerweile in sehr schlechtem Zustand sind. Die Felswand links der Kapelle hat noch einiges an Potenzial für schwere Linien, wobei schon eine Route mit dem Schwierigkeitsgrad 9a vorhanden ist. Auf die Öffnungszeiten der Einsiedelei achten.

Anfahrt: Von Arco oder Trient kommend bis zur Autobahnausfahrt Rovereto Süd fahren. Ab hier zunächst Richtung Zentrum von Rovereto fahren, am Einkaufszentrum Millennium Center vorbei. Ab hier der Beschilderung nach Vicenza folgend, biegt man an einer Ampel rechts ab und durchquert den historischen Stadtteil von Rovereto. Nach einer Brücke rechts Richtung Eremo di San Colombano/Trambileno abzweigen. Immer den Hinweisen Richtung Eremo di San Colombano folgend passiert man eine Brücke, hinter der man für Sektor A am Straßenrand parken kann. Um die Sektoren B, C und D zu erreichen,

Nel 13° secolo alcune persone avevano già scoperto il potenziale di questa falesia, ma per la costruzione di un eremo, che incredibilmente sono riusciti a costruire. Alcune centinaia di anni più tardi è stato poi sfruttato anche il suo potenziale per l’arrampicata. Ci sono numerose vie, purtroppo spesso ancora attrezzate con vecchi spit ridotti veramente molto male. La fascia di roccia a sinistra dell’Eremo presenta ancora un bel potenziale per vie molto dure, tant’è vero che qui c’è già un 9a. Prestare attenzione agli orari d´apertura per le visite dell’Eremo.

Zustieg: Für Sektor A über die Hauptstraße und die Brücke Richtung Tunnel zurückgehen. Wenige Meter vor dem Tunnel befindet sich auf der rechten Seite eine Treppe, die durch die Steinmauer führt. Von dort startet nun ein kleiner Pfad zwischen den Steinschutzverbauungen direkt hoch zur Wand. Sektoren B, C, D: Vom genannten Parkplatz die Brücke überqueren und dem Weg zu den Sektoren folgen.

5.7 Eremo di San Colombano

Come arrivare: da Arco oppure da Trento viaggiare fino all’uscita dell’autostrada Rovereto Sud. Da qui prendere la strada che porta nel centro di Rovereto, oltrepassare il centro commerciale Millenium Center e proseguire in direzione Vicenza. Al semaforo si svolta a destra e si continua sempre verso Vicenza, si oltrepassa parte del centro storico di Rovereto, arrivando fino a un ponte. Dal ponte svoltare a destra, in direzione Eremo di San Colombano/Trambileno. Proseguire sulla strada che sale, seguendo sempre le indicazioni per l’Eremo. Dopo un ponte la strada scende appunto verso l’Eremo: lasciare la macchina sul lato della strada poco dopo il bivio se si vuole salire al settore A. Per gli altri settori invece scendere lungo la stradina che porta al parcheggio sottostante. Accesso: per settore A percorrere la strada principale a ritroso, in direzione della galleria, dove poco prima di quest’ultima si trova un passaggio nel muretto di sassi. Da qui partono delle tracce di sentiero che portano alla parete. Settori B, C, D: dal parcheggio si attraversa il ponticello e si segue il sentiero che porta ai vari settori. The potential of this rock formation was already identified by some people in the 13th century; not to climb, but to build a chapel (Eremo) at its base. A few hundred years later, this rock was discovered for climbing. There are many routes in thisEremo area, butdi unfortunately save: Colombomany of them are equipped with old bolts and some are in very bad condition. The wall to the left of the chapel still hosts potential for hard routes, and it already has one route graded 9a. Please note the opening hours of the hermitage.

Arrival: Coming from Arco or from Trento, drive towards the motorway exit Rovereto Sud. From here, head towards the center of Rovereto, driving past the shopping center Millennium Center. Following the signs to Vicenza, turn right at the traffic light and cross the historic district of Rovereto. After the bridge, turn right in the direction of Eremo di San Colombano/Trambileno, where the road starts to go upwards. Continue to follow the signs to the Eremo until you cross a bridge. For sector A, park here next to the road. To reach the sectors B, C and D, continue downwards on the road that leads to a parking. Approach: Sector A: Follow the main road back over the bridge toward the tunnel. A few meters before the tunnel you find steps on the right side, which lead through the stone wall. From there, a small trail runs through the rockfall protection barriers and goes directly up to the wall.
