CURRIE CUP 2013 TOURNAMENT REPORT * 2011 Statistics averaged over 33 games to accommodate for the larger 59 game Currie Cup The 2013 Currie Cup season showed several significant trends emerging since 2011. Of most interest was the significant drop in ruck speed from 3.46 and 3.42 seconds in 2011 and 2012 respectively to a low 2.81 seconds in 2013. Significantly closer games also lead to a 33% rise in Bonus Points for losses within 7 points and a 26% drop in bonus points for four tries or more. Although a drop in penalties was also present, successful penalty goals increased significantly.
