VG&P has been committed to sustainability since its inception, with an approach based on four core principles: Longevity, Quality First, Manufacture Locally, and Re-use.
The Latte Chair is VG&P’s first outdoor chair.
The shell is made from an innovative biocomposite of hemp and 100% recycled plastic which reduces the chair’s CO2 footprint drastically – approximately 85% less than a standard plastic chair.
The hemp fibres that run through the shell not only give a subtle texture but also add strength and durability, making the chair well-suited for contract and residential use. The steel frame is powder coated with UV-resistant paint to prevent the colour fading over time.

VG&P spoke with Design Director, André Klauser about how the Latte Chair
was conceived and produced.

“If we were to develop a plastic product, we wanted to be as environmentally conscious as possible.”
How did you work with AC/AL on the design?
The slats were the defining feature of the design, which needed to be retained no matter what. Initially designed from wooden slats, ‘Lattes’ in French, we concluded that plastic slats would make for a far more durable, long-lasting chair. If we were to develop a plastic product, we wanted to be as environmentally conscious as possible.
Was it easy to find an environmentally friendly material to work with?
After extensive research we found the perfect material called Triflon Revo®, which met all our intentions for sustainable manufacturing. Made from a biocomposite of 100% recycled polypropylene and hemp fibres, this not only reduces the amount of plastic but also adds strength. At the end of the materials lifespan, it can be recycled again allowing for closed-loop manufacturing. The fibres also improve the CO2 emissions of the product and add a beautiful texture to the finished material.
How did you develop the Latte Chair so it was comfortable and also recyclable?
Through extensive prototyping, we found the right position and shape for a comfortable outdoor chair. The next challenge was attaching the seat to the metal frame. The most important aspect was that the seat was easily removable for recycling, but also watertight to the metal frame. The solution was a small stainless-steel rivet that clamped the seat to the frame.
What were the final stages to get the chair ready for production?
Whilst finalising the proportions of the design, we realised that there was an opportunity to produce the seat and back in two halves without compromising the comfort. Colours were defined by natural earthy tones that compliment outdoor environments and age beautifully through use. The steel frames were primed against corrosion and then finished with a UV resistant powder coating.

The Latte Chair is available in four colours: Brick Red, Grey Brown, Grey White and our new colour Olive Green.
Using Trifilon’s lowest CO2 biocomposite – Trifilon Revo® represents VG&P’s approach to sustainably led design. The material repurposes a waste stream and introduces a renewable, agricultural ingredient into its production. The high quality of the biocomposite also means that the chair’s plastic can be recycled again – a full commitment to circular economy principles.
Accoya, used for the Canteen Outdoor tabletops, is proprietary modified wood that has become the timber industry benchmark for performance and sustainability. No other timber offers the same combination of stability, durability, and versatility. This engineered wood is sustainably sourced with FSC™ certification, and it has minimal environmental impact throughout its entire life, from production, through its use, right the way to the end of its life.
From the initial design stages and extensive material research all the way through to production and Re-use, the Outdoor Collection embodies VG&P’s approach to sustainability.
The Canteen Outdoor Table is the outdoor version of VG&P’s best selling Canteen Table.
The slatted tabletop is manufactured using the long-lasting, low carbon and FSC™ accredited timber product, Accoya.
Accoya is a highly sustainable and durable timber, with outstanding properties for outdoor use and suitable for all climates. Just like any other wood it weathers naturally. The Canteen Table legs celebrate the functional no-nonsense beauty of cast metal. Made from recycled aluminium, the table legs are powder coated with UV-resistant paint to prevent the colour fading over time.
Water Lane is an idyllic walled garden with a vinery, Victorian glasshouses, restaurant, and shop.
A long-term project over years to come, the historic site is being transformed into a garden for all, combining recreation, dining, experiences, and education.
The working kitchen garden provides vegetables for the Water Lane restaurant where our Latte Chairs and Canteen Outdoors Tables take centre stage on the outdoor terrace with tented awning.
Made from mild folded steel, the Planter offers a flexible storage and display solution for plants.
Designed with hidden castors for ease of movement and with drainage holes to prevent flooding. The steel is primed to protect from corrosion and finished with UV-resistant paint to prevent the colour fading over time.
The science led bio-pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, opened their new 37,000 sq. ft Headquarters in Kings Cross, London.
The bright, welcoming, open-plan offices designed by Ekho Studio promotes dynamic working through a variety of different working environments.
The Latte Armchair and Canteen Outdoor Tables were specified for the outdoor terrace on the 8th floor as part of AstraZeneca’s well-being strategy to promote the use of outdoor space, at the same time as taking in the London skyline.
