Kubick & Kubick: HEAR for the Community

“Wetreat people like family” seems like a common refrain, but few take it more seriously than Kubick & Kubick Inc. The thirdgeneration hearing and optical business based in Millburn, NJ, believes in building long-term relationships by treating each patient as one of their own.

“We wouldn’t have it any other way,” says owner and provider Christian Kubick, carrying on the proud legacy started by his grandfather, Jack Kubick, who founded the practice—then Kubick & Kubick Opticians in Orange, NJ—more than 80 years ago.

The business began in 1940 as an optician’s office before moving to Millburn in 1960, when Christian’s father, Robert Kubick, expanded the business to include a hearing aid center. Father and son worked together until Robert retired, with Christian then leading the clinic into a new era.

From an early age, Christian felt the effects of hearing loss when his mother lost part of her hearing. The experience gave him a personal look at the everyday struggles that come with hearing loss and strengthened his dedication to improving others’ lives. Those early inspirations and the family business motivated Christian.

For Christian, it’s not just about helping people hear better—it’s the life-changing impacts that come with it. “Watching patients reconnect with people they love or even hobbies that previously had to take a backseat is deeply satisfying,” says Christian. “Nothing compares to helping people reclaim their lives.”

In his years as practice owner, Christian has put tremendous effort into building a team that shares his philosophy when it comes to patient-centered care.

In 2017, Christian hired Jill Venturella as his patient care coordinator and office manager. Current patients know Jill as the smile they hear over the phone. It is clear to each patient just how much she cares.

In 2020, Christian met Kaitlin Brennan Shaw, a hearing aid specialist, and it was immediately clear they both shared the same vision for how patients should be treated. They talked at length about how they both felt it was so important that each patient leaves their office not just hearing better but feeling that their concerns and frustrations were actually HEARD. One of the things that sets Kaitlin apart is her genuine care and interest in each patient she meets.

This all adds up to the business’ distinction as a cherished resource in Millburn, NJ, and the surrounding communities.
