As a young boy, Dr. Kurt Jackson, a vitreo-retinal surgeon, pictured himself seeing patients in his own office and caring for them like family. “That’s what really drove me to open my own practice,” he says. “So many things in medicine are moving to volume care, and people are becoming numbers. I want my patients to have an alternative to that and know they have my complete attention.”
At Jackson Eye Care, Dr. Jackson helps manage and care for issues such as macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, retinal detachment, retinal tears and complications of hypertension in the eyes. His courteous and accommodating office staff also makes patients feel cared for and special. His wife, Kai, is the office administrator.
“Along with getting that personalized care, we are also technologically advanced,” he says. “I’m one of the first, if not the first, private practice retina specialist that has the new wireless laser system called Norlase, which is a lot more comfortable for the patient.”
A general ophthalmologist since 2007 and a retina specialist since 2009, Dr. Jackson finds helping people with something as vitality important as their vision extremely rewarding. “They say that eyes are the windows to the soul, and that has certain physical and even some spiritual ramifications, but the eyes are truly tissues that you can look at and get an idea of an individual’s general health.”
Dr. Jackson’s patients appreciate his caring manner and professional expertise. In addition to English, Dr. Jackson also speaks fluent Spanish.
