Partnership Proposal

Startup Canada – Sparks Street Partnership Proposal CONTEXT On November 21, 2013, Startup Canada, in partnership with Minister of State for Small Business, The Honourable Maxime Bernier, will host a first-of-its kind celebration of Canadian entrepreneurship – ‘Startup Canada Day on the Hill’ (Hill Day). This day will draw together more than 600 Ministers, Members of Parliament, entrepreneurs, business leaders and media, for a full day celebration of Canadian entrepreneurship. Whilst this will be a spectacular day filled with VIP gatherings, panels and a major reception featuring the ‘who’s who’ of Canadian entrepreneurship, it takes place within a very special week – Global Entrepreneurship Week (November 18 – 24) – and in a very special month – Entrepreneurship Month (November 2013).

PROPOSAL Startup Canada would like to develop a major partnership with Sparks Street during the month of November 2013 to create a week, or even month – long campaign called ‘Startup Canada on Sparks Street’. In addition to running side events on Sparks street, drawing ‘Hill Day’ delegates to Sparks Street Merchants, issuing Sparks Street Merchants with VIP passes to the evening reception; and, recognizing Sparks Street as a major partner of the ‘Hill Day’, with inclusion of branding and recognition on all print and online promotions, we want to create something even more exciting together. During the month of November, Startup Canada would like to partner with Sparks Street to transform it into a Canadian celebration of entrepreneurship including: •

Installations featuring great Canadian entrepreneurs and emerging Startups;

Flags atop corner displays featuring the Startup Canada and Global Entrepreneurship Week Canada flags;

Signage along Sparks Street including in LCD displays;

Signs of support from entrepreneur merchants in shops; and,

Flags along Sparks Street Elgin to Bank.

As part of this program of ‘Startup Canada on Sparks Street’, Startup Canada will: •

Feature local Sparks Street merchants on PIVOTmagazine.ca throughout Global Entrepreneurship Week;

Work with local partners to host events and functions on Sparks Street during Global Entrepreneurship Week;

Bring Startup Community Leaders from across Canada to the Sparks Street HQ for a 2 hour brainstorm session on how to revitalize Sparks Street;

Host the ‘Hill Day’ After Party on Sparks Street; and,

Make some serious noise in Ottawa and across Canada about the importance of Startup Communities with full content marketing of how Sparks Street is stepping up to support Ottawa’s and Canada’s entrepreneurs.

As a growing non-profit, volunteer-run movement, our Team sees this as the beginning of a long and mutually beneficial relationship with the leadership of Sparks Street. We share your vision and want to help to create a hub for entrepreneurs in Ottawa and see the potential of Sparks Street in making this happen.
