What is BBTV •  An experience-based training course for underserved students 10th -14th in which they learn by doing, producing a monthly TV show and associated digital elements. Following a year-long curriculum, under the supervision of mentor staff, and the participation of a range of guest mentors. •  An opportunity for Partners with an interest in community service, outreach, education opportunities, media and digital training, career support, workforce preparation, and other "harmonies" to support this venture.


The Course: the Core •  Students: 10th – 16th; underserved, diverse •  Experience-based learning •  One year contract •  Creating a TV magazine show every month •  Students take on all roles: writers, producers, director, camera, editing, web design and development •  Other course topics: digital distribution, careers in media •  Instructors, Guests/Mentors


The Course: the Elements •  Staff' admin and instructors •  Plan / Curriculum for the year •  Equipment: cameras, switchers, sound, editing, computers •  Location: studio •  Mentor guests •  Students


The Course: the Outputs •  Graduates trained in accordance with certified curriculum/plan •  Measurable results/deliverables: •  (in addition to experiential and course experience) •  Monthly show •  "Work" placement directly afterwards – internships, etc. •  Connections to selected mentor guests •  Student portfolios: •  Show •  Personal projects: own movie/tv show, app, other items created in class

The Show: the Audience •  Show to broadcast via Youtube Livestream. •  1.7 million high school students in Los Angeles County, 2.3 million Community, 500,000 Cal State University Students, USC, UCLA, Loyola, Pepperdine U. •  Web sites and apps as additional distribution channels, increasing audience •  Partner opportunities to reach this audience
