Education Opportunities In Cēsis Vocational Secondary School young people can obtain the professional skills of: • woodworking specialist, carpenter, • electrician, • mechanical engineer, • furniture designer, and become valued specialists in local enterprises. Six vocational secondary schools are located in the vicinity of Cēsis. Large numbers of students have graduated from training programmes, such as Car Mechanic, Auto Electrician, Builder, Food Production Technician, Accountant, Cook, Arborist, Specialist in Logistics, Veterinary Medicine, Catering Services, Forestry, and others. Three subsidiaries of higher education institutions have been opened in the city: • Turība University • Rīga International School of Economics and Business Administration (RISEBA) • Rīga Technical University The main programmes are Power and Electrical Engineering, Electrical Computer Control, Material Technology and Design.

Industrial Zones There are currently five industrial zones in Cēsis: • total area of 139.7 ha • 180 operating enterprises • approx. 2250 jobs • new territories for development

Infrastructure Highways

Cīrulīši

Cēsis is situated between two highways of international importance: 1. Riga–Veclaicene–Pskov–St. Petersburg (Russia) highway, located 9 km from Cēsis 2. Inčukalns–Valka–Tartu (Estonia)–St. Petersburg (Russia) highway, located 16 km from Cēsis

"Cīrulīši" has a convenient location: • on the banks of the River Gauja • offering gorgeous views over the hills • easy access to miles of forest trails • a beach of the River Gauja • picturesque settings in just a 20-minute walking distance from Cēsis Old Town

The town is well accessible in the regional context along the roads Limbaži–Cēsis and Cēsis–Madona; the distance to Riga is just 87 km, which is about an hour's ride by car.

Railway Cēsis is located on the Rīga–Valka–Tartu (Estonia) railroad. The railway station is in the center of the town and provides cargo and passenger transport.

Local airport The Cēsis Aerodrome is operating as a general aviation airport for small regional airplanes with the maximum takeoff weight of less than 5700 kg, and for general aviation operations and aerial work flights.

"Cīrulīši" is an ideal location for the development of new businesses: • with the total area of 74 ha • including vacant land of more than 26 ha for construction • built-up, but having parcels of over 47 ha for new developments • nature areas (459 ha) in a close proximity; in some of those (status A and M), low-rise residential buildings are permitted Utilities: electricity, gas, water supply, sewerage and telecommunications are available on the site.

Infrastructure Krūmiņu iela • Total property area: 170 315 m2 • Total area for development: 194 500 m2 The site is located in the southern part of Cēsis. The parcel borders with Ērgļu iela and a number of privately owned parcels, where low-rise residential construction is planned. Ownership: property of Cēsis Municipality. Development opportunities: • Low-rise residential buildings • Public and commercial facilities Cēsis Municipality is open for cooperation to develop new manufacturing zones and ensure the best infrastructure by 2020.
