Future Urban Mobility Lectures/Papers: Dr. Wilhelm Tomayer, Dr. Peter Wandaller (Siemens AG) THE FUTURE OF NETWORKED MOBILITY Mag. Christoph Chorherr (municipal councillor, Die Grünen) IN THE AGE OF URBANIZATION. WHAT KINDS OF CITIES ARE WE BUILDING? AND WHAT KINDS OF CARS? Sebastien Stassin (Managing Partner at KISKA) LIGHTWEIGHT: THE ANSWER FOR FUTURE MOBILITY Dipl.-Ing. Dr.techn. Werner Tober (Technische Universität Wien) E-VEHICLES IN REALISTIC COMPARISON WITH CONVENTIONAL ENERGY-SAVING VEHICLES – RANGE, ENVIRONMENT, COSTS Daniel Huber, Mag. Georg Wagner (Spirit Design – Innovation and Brand) THINKING THE FUTURE; MOBILITY 3.0 FOR A SMALLER FOOTPRINT

The cover was printed on Symbol Card 210 g/m2 and has been provided by Fedrigoni.

Confronted by the challenge presented by future mobility, most notably for cities – ecological, demographic and with respect to the politics of energy – concepts like the "smart city" and "e-mobility" have become key topics. How electro-mobility will be experienced and used depends to a great extent on design. The event shows the domestic status quo, gathers together expertes from design, the industry and mobility and presents the best pick of pioneering electrovehicles, in part with on-the-spot tests! Afterwards get-together for discussion in the Pop-Up-Café. Friday, 5.10., 18:00 Das Gschwandner 17., Geblergasse 36–40 Moderation: DI Wojciech Czaja (Der Standard)

Preface Dear Festival Public! A new year – a new format! For the first time the VIENNA  DESIGN WEEK Guide is being presented in a different dimension; nevertheless, this year, too, it is full of information on all the events surrounding product design, graphic design, experimentation and traditional values. The Guide helps you in orientation – both in content and geography – because now, for the sixth year, the resonance of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK continues to grow, its radius of influence ceaselessly expanding: more and more parts of the city are being involved in the scenario during the ten days of the festival. If the sheer superabundance of events on the programme causes your head to spin, you can always turn to our website and communication programme, where the festival is portioned out for you into “manageable” titbits and can be happily explored as a savoury foretaste of events. We have also taken a trip

through the events, mapped by the annually alternating  key programme items of guest country and focus district. This year the spotlight is on Spain, an exciting prospect for us all – and this perhaps applies to more than just design people. Ottakringer Straße, with one foot in the 16th and the other in the 17th District, will bring the close-packed activity of the focus district to palpable life. Here we have an extensive area at our disposal in the Etablissement Gschwandner, where several events can be shown in one location. The same is true of the stilwerk in the Jean Nouvel Tower, where Praterand Taborstraße begin. Yet again this year the project space of the Kunsthalle on Karlsplatz houses the Laboratory, making the working world between graphic and product design into a living experience.

Our programme partners, in  other words a large company  of major business enterprises, small design studios, dealers and galleries, contribute essential features to the programme this year too, and enrich it with a multitude of perspectives. The words “essential contributions” give us the right cue to express our deeply felt thanks to our principle partners and public partners for their support. Among   the general partners new alliances have been forged that we are very happy about. We would like to thank all sponsors and supporters of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK for their commitment, also our team, without whose enormous zest and enthusiasm the festival could not have taken shape. Whether or not autumn will be warm and golden, or wet –  we are counting on your staunch weatherability and hope to see you in the many events, most of which are free of charge! There is food for brain and eyes, always something for the heart, and usually a glass of wine as well.

Brigitte Jank PRESIDENT OF THE VIENNA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Design points the way, opens up perspectives and is therefore an important initiator and motor of progress. One innovative basis for this motor is the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, which moreover guarantees a view of the bigger picture. The international flair of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK is reflected this year through the guest country of Spain, whose creative people lend expression to innovative design in a very special way. Fixed components of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK are the “Passionswege”, which this year focus on business operations in the vicinity of Ottakringer Straße, an interface of cultural diversity between the 16th and 17th District. This diversity is one  of the core strengths of the Viennese creative scene, which cannot be appraised highly enough. With this in mind, I wish the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK the greatest success!

Norbert Kettner DIRECTOR OF WIEN TOURISMUS Design is not just the art   of combining function and aesthetics – the concept stands far more for zeitgeist, richness of invention and new ideas. During the   VIENNA DESIGN WEEK the   international scene once again puts its spotlight on Vienna, because it makes   design a living experience in  its impressive range of activities and, as a much-contested platform for both   young and established creative people, has a signal effect for a whole branch   of industry. For the tourist destination of Vienna, primarily renowned throughout the world for its classical beauty, the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK conveys a clear message: Vienna is a simultaneously pulsating capital and fertile soil for creative ideas and potential. I wish the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK and all those who have infused it with life through their endeavours a bumper harvest in the year 2012 and a new link in its chain of success!

Bettina Leidl CEO OF DEPARTURE – DIE KREATIVAGENTUR DER STADT WIEN The VIENNA DESIGN WEEK  presents young and renowned design, experimental con-  cepts and a multifaceted programme. With the in-  spiring Passionswege it has been showing the kind of innovative projects achieved when the boundaries between content development and production are lifted. Through  the key focal point of “cooperation”, departure connects up with those experiences and thus endeavours to achieve helping and encouraging creative and industrial enterprises to cooperate at eye level. At the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK Talks international design greats will present vivid examples inspired by the theme of cooperation and explain their points of view and experiences. I look forward with great pleasure to the exciting cooperations taking place within the   VIENNA DESIGN WEEK   and wish the festival all the success in the world!

Communicating design is a key issue for us since the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK is not only a meeting point for the international design scene, but also a people’s festival with the aim of offering as much as possible and to as many different visitors as possible. This is why we have thought up even more ways this year of making the festival accessible in accord with this aspiration. Our four guided tours, organised several times during the festival, offer a great variety of approaches – geographical as well as thematic. They were planned jointly with the city guide Gabriela Steiner-Scharfetter and will be led by her once again – in the most entertaining way and if necessary in several languages! For children and young people, we are again organizing two interactive workshops in cooperation with the experts from design°mobil and, upon request, we offer guided tours for school classes of all levels (for more information and booking contact j.a@viennadesignweek.at).

Group exhibition presented by the Spanish Embassy in Vienna NUDE

—> p. 58 21

Two exhibitions can be seen this autumn on special invitation of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK and both focus on this year’s guest country of Spain. Our annual solo presentation at Sotheby’s this time has Martí Guixé entering the field. The designer lives in Barcelona and is well known for explicit and counterconventional approaches to everyday culture and design. In his installation the culture of wine – claimed by both Spaniards and Austrians – will be rigged out in a completely new way! This year’s group show held in the Künstlerhaus looks back at ten years of “Nude” and shows a representative selection of works from the meetings programme for young designers, freelancers, galleries and publishing houses held annually in Valencia. This view of ten years of Nude curated by Alberto Azra not only contains formations of some of today’s best known Spanish designers, but also showcases the dynamic and exciting creative scene in Spain.

23 The Laboratory is all about inter-

disciplinary and process-oriented work positioned between graphic design and product design. Once again this year it is guesting in the projectspace karlsplatz of the Vienna Kunsthalle. It was an excellent occasion for us to give the Laboratory a dazzling, multicoloured setting with „Art Robert Wilson“ created by the carpet manufacturers and Laboratory sponsor Vorwerk. Inside, invited designers from both disciplines pursue their ideas on the spot, react to each other, possibly cooperate and present their results on site as well. The Laboratory is workshop, office and exhibition space all in one. So the public mustn’t be shy: watching, asking questions and experiencing processes on the spot are not only permitted, but requested! Furthermore, all designers and other guests will introduce themselves and their work in one of the Laboratory talks (daily at 6 pm); you can find the exact dates at viennadesignweek.at. Curators: Neigungsgruppe Design and Erwin K. Bauer Design: Robert Rüf (AT)

Work theme of the Laboratory 2012: Pretty Ugly Both users and the brains behind design solutions are increasingly dissatisfied when confronted by a uniform lifestyle and superficial prettiness. Designers frequently see themselves forced in the role of mere stylists and encounter what is “beautiful” with scepticism; they react with criticism, subversion and antitheses. With the working title of “Pretty Ugly” (borrowed from the book by TwoPoints.Net, published by Gestalten 2012), this year’s Laboratory aims to take the strategies applied here as its key theme – for instance, designers might take inspiration from everyday culture and trash, smuggle in lost and found objects that are seemingly broken, unfinished or badly made or make use of flaws and errors as productive disturbances. It seems certain that design under these auspices generates not only points of friction but also gains in human dimension.

Experimental design: the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK brings together ten in part Austrian, in part international designers with Viennese industrial producers and businesses with the aim of developing a project. And the process is open: they are invited to make use of workshops, intervene, experiment with handicraft techniques that reflect the history of the business enterprises, mostly long established. The results – sometimes a

product, sometimes an installation – are shown during the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK in the business locations and workshops and can be viewed in a tour from neighbourhood to neighbourhood (this year three stations are situated in the inner city, three in the 6th and 7th districts and four around Ottakringer Straße in the 16th and 17th districts). Design is showcased remote from the business-as-usual routine and is spread about the city in a charmingly individual way. The installations are all on show from 28 September to 6 October at their respective opening times. On three evenings/afternoons a cocktail will be offered in the presence of the designers.

The festival format City Work [Stadtarbeit] celebrates its premiere this year. It frees design from the designed artefact and addresses the creation of urban and social spaces in all their diversity and complexity. Five projects for the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK were selected in an open call and by a jury of experts; they tackle the issues of social, cultural and spatial structures in Vienna, also institutions and social conventions. City Work contributes not least to the further evolution of the concept of design as it resounds for instance in the term “social design” – the things being designed are not objects, products or architecture, but processes and living spaces, which all revolve around human beings as the criterion and as active participants. TALKING ABOUT: WIEN–BERLIN Guests Berlin: Fons Hickmann, Axel Kufus, Jörg Suermann (DMY), Frederik Frede (Freunde von Freunden) Guests Vienna: to be confirmed, see viennadesignweek.at Moderator: Lucas Verweij

—> p. 37

Two topics are being debated this year in the series of talks organized as part of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK. One of them has to do with the city everyone is looking towards: Berlin. Germany’s capital city is a magnet for creative people, an international city of people’s dreams and ambitions, a global brand. In a round of talks

moderated by Lucas Verweij, guests from Berlin and Vienna tackle the question of whether Berlin deserved the title City of Design awarded by UNESCO; who pulls the creative strings, what message creative Berliners bring with them to Vienna and vice versa? Two lectures on 30 September deal with the topic of the cooperation between designer and producer. There is a need on both sides to understand processes and structures, networked thinking and openness. Do designers see themselves and their actions as design service providers or as author service providers? How does the exchange take place and what hurdles have to be overcome on the way? The Spanish designer Marti Guixé and the German architect Hadi Teherani answer these questions from their own standpoints.

Programme Partners For more than ten days in early October Vienna is invaded by a happy conglomeration of design events, aka the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK. This is achieved not only through our own tireless activities, but also our numerous programme partners – museums, institutions, design galleries and businesses, as well as design studios at home and from abroad. The total sum of festival contributions, presentations and events is actually what gives us the quality and diversity that create a successful festival and simultaneously the special Viennese “feel” so appreciated by our international public.

31 Ecstatic colour, temperament and

passion are the attributes (clichés?) people are fond of associating with Spanish design. However, there is an incredible diversity in the design of native Spaniards and we choose the word “diversity” deliberately, because many of them now work in Milan (like Patricia Urquiola), Eindhoven (like shooting star Nacho Carbonell) and not in Madrid, Barcelona, or Valencia, the centres of Spanish design. But most have remained – and are shaping a scene that is just as vibrant, high-quality and full of surprises. While graphic design has a long tradition in Spain also as regards institutes of education, the boom in product and industrial design is relatively young. But it is

quite frequent that the latter is influenced by the graphic arts and the rich culture of comics, for instance Martí Guixé, who is putting on a solo show as part of the festival. With a top-ranking group show of Spanish designers in the Künstlerhaus, the Passionswege guest Oscar Diaz and El Ultimo Grito in the Laboratory, the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK is happy to present its guest country of Spain.

Formerly a typical, so called working-class district of Vienna, Ottakring (16th Viennese District) has been utterly transformed in recent years. Artists, creative people and students have all moved in; the concentration of studios and shops and cafés has grown enormously, especially around Yppenplatz. They encounter an area containing a high proportion of Viennese with migration background, comparisons with the Berlin district of Kreuzberg are not off the mark, especially as regards the ambivalence between threatening gentrification and healthy ethnic diversity. With the festival headquarters in the “Gschwandner”, a former amusement establishment, also many other stations in Ottakring and Hernals (17th District), the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK casts the spotlight on its two focal districts and presents traditional handicraft operations, young designers, for ten days it infuses life into empty shops through active social design and creates connections between design and the urban space. In addition, the community services bureaus for the two districts, GB*7/8/16 and GB*9/17/18, will be offering further events and guided tours; see details at gbstern.at/vdw.

Eternit & Thomas Feichtner (AT) BASSO PRESENTATION

Rosario Hurtado and Roberto Feo are the post-disciplinary studio El Ultimo Grito. Their work continuously researches our relationships with objects and culture, exploring them in a wide variety of projects for a broad mix of clients such as Magis, Lavazza, Matadero Madrid, Marks & Spencer, Figueras, British Airways or Victoria and Albert Museum. Their work is part of the per-  manent collections of museums such as the MoMA in New York, Stedlijk in Amsterdam, or The V&A in London. In 2010 they founded Shopwork and Poi, an independent publishing, research and education design platform. — Laboratory Presentations, Work-in-  Progress

Gebrüder Stitch (AT) VOLLPENSION – FULL BOARD

HABARI LIFE WITH THE SUITCASE

The Project of Gebrüder Stitch,  two producers of custom made  jeans, in their own words might be about: “Desserts to die for like mum’s at home? Clichés about elderly people with retro-chic, blended into a spicy marketing gag of the trousers tailors, served ice-cold on the back of senior citizens together with a Viennese Gugelhupf ring cake? Pudding pop-up as social design at the kitchen table? A chance of exchanging cooking recipes, knowledge and experience? “Vollpension” can reflect all this. What it actually is you can experience, taste and get to hear – temporarily.” — City Work Work-in-Progress

Hotel Daniel MISCONCEIVABLE – THE MAKING-OF

I AM LAMP – Darling/ Schramm (AT) I AM LAMP

"Misconceivable – between crazy realities and irritated viewing patterns” documents the making-of of an installation on the Hotel Daniel roof: an elegant sailing boat that has taken off, up, up and away into lofty heights and now leans over a roof-edge… and water? – not a drop in sight! Erwin Wurm’s sculptures are renowned for subverting familiar forms, attributions and everyday realities and for sounding out limits. And it’s quite certain and also intentional that a sailing boat stranded on a hotel roof will be a hot topic for discussion. Whatever happens, it puts the focus on an exceptional hotel in an exceptional building of the 1960s. Artwork: Erwin Wurm, Film: OchoReSotto, owned by:   Florian Weitzer — Programme Partner Exhibition, Film

In a photo series by Bernhard Schramm in various locations in Vienna, Doris Darling is transformed into a kind of lamp-woman hybrid and fights  against the force of gravity. Posing as a life-size porcelain figure and steadying different lamp objects looks easier than it is. The Vintagerie in the 6th Viennese District, the showroom for design classics, is the venue for this combination of product design, photography and performance. — Programme Partner Exhibition

Julien Carretero (FR) AT KOHLMAIER Kohlmaier is a traditional producer of high-quality upholstered furniture that has kept its production location in the heart of the city – a rare phenomenon, even in Vienna –  still using horsehair and spring as preferred materials. The French designer Julien Carretero, now working in Brussels after studying in   Paris and Eindhoven and work-  ing with Maarten Baas, has found a source of inspiration   in this company policy. MAK Design Shop AFTER WORK MEETING POINT WITH RAMPELOTTO & PERNKOPF

The Geymüllerschlössel is an outside branch of the MAK focusing on the presentation of period furniture of the Empire and Biedermeier and now, for the first time, opens its doors to contemporary design. During the 2012 season the London designer Michael   Anastassiades takes the stage; his objects invite the visitor to take a trip into the history of the location. His intervention also provides the background for a talk between Thomas Geisler, MAK Custodian of Design, the designer himself, and the New York gallery owner and collector Murray Moss on models of cooperation and the transformation process leading from artistic patronage to the design market. — Programme Partner Exhibition, Discussion

Martí Guixé (ES) STILL LIFE WITH LIGHT “Since around 2 years I am fascinated by the “Bag in the Box” wine storage system, not only because of its technical qualities, but also because of its characteristics, a different way of keeping, serving and drinking wine, a different perception of it. Still Life with Light is an installation around the end of the classical wine bottle made of glass, but which keeps the basic elements, the label, the cork, and the vine, even if in the form of symbolic representations. It is made out of the “Free Port” prototype, 10 wine glasses, 2 Cyclope lamps, a piece of cork, fliers, a carpet and a handmade vase full with a “bag in the box” of red wine.” (Martí Guixé) — Exhibition Sotheby’s Kunstauktionen 1., Herrengasse 5 1.10.–5.10., Mon–Fri 10:00–17:00 Opening: 28.9., 19:00 37

Martí Guixé (ES) TALKING ABOUT: COOPERATION. MARTÍ GUIXÉ & ALESSI

mathak + mahlknecht (AT) BEST BY … – ABOUT BUILT-IN OBSOLESCENCE

Marti Guixé calls himself an “ex-designer” and is breaking through the confines of the traditional concept of design. By the mid-1990s, the native  Catalonian had already begun  formulating a new understanding of the culture of products. His unconventional  view generates simple, personal ideas of a wilful earnestness. Guixé works in his studio in Barcelona and in Berlin, at the interface between interior architecture, industry and food design. This includes products for such firms as Alessi, Danese, Droog and Magis, shops for  Camper and more, food objects, and free installations (Alberto Alessi requested). — Talks Lecture

The installation draws our attention to an omnipresent topic: manipulated ageing processes. The factors that primarily motivate the consumer to continual re-purchase of everyday products – besides constantly changing trends –  are deliberately integrated weak points and incompatible new features. Surrounding the installation are a film performance, a lecture and a panel discussion for a more profound insight into the topic (dates under “Stadtarbeit” at viennadesignweek.at). The project, supported by the Recycling Kosmos association, aims to encourage a collective thinking-aloud and to scrutinise the influence of designers, industry and consumer on built-in obsolescence. — City Work Exhibition, Lecture, Film

Galerie Rauminhalt YOUR IDEAS FURNISH THE WORLD

Sebastian Pataki (DE/NL) LABORATORY: PRETTY UGLY

The walls of the museum galleries in the Minoriten friary in Graz were broken through with red cords, creating new spaces. “I love God” was the credo of the artist and the title of the exhibition. In the Jewish Museum Zenita Komad showed an oracle and said “Spirituality is not shopping”. In doing so she placed God, spiritual work and the connections between people as the centrepoint of her subtle collages, objects and installations. In October, a development of the installation “Deine Gedanken möblieren die Welt” (Your ideas furnish the world) will be on show at Rauminhalt, with the kind support of the Galerie Krinzinger. — Programme Partner Exhibition

After his studies and work in the design studios HORT, Pixelgarten and Trapped in Suburbia, Sebastian Pataki opted for Amsterdam as his chosen home city. Although he calls himself a graphic designer, he likes the versatility of different media. He says: “Accidents and coincidences are important and I try to create new possibilities out of them. I don’t like “pretty”, I like comical, sleazy, homemade, DIY, folk art, plain, naïve, improvised. I like what is visually raw, structures   and errors.” — Laboratory Presentation Work-in-Progress

Technische Universität Wien ALU +

Technische Universität Wien DER WINDSCHREIBER

Students worked with the   SUDECO (Sustainable Design and Communication Strategies) module under the direction of Erwin K. Bauer, Harald Gründl, Anton Kottbauer,   Beatrix Roidinger, Mark Wallerberger and Claudia   Maria Walther with the task of designing luminaires made  of a single material. The choice fell on aluminium. Light objects were created with the label Ecolucy with the objective of combining aluminium, light, sustainability and design. As part of the exhibition, Harald Gründl (EOOS/IDRV) will give a lecture named “Tools for the Design Revolution”. — Programme Partner Exhibition, Lecture

This project by Simon Andert and Martin Leithner revolves in the charged field between art and design around an elusive medium: wind. Its very essence is to surround us constantly and yet remain concealed to our most important sense. With the “Windwriter” the element of wind takes the stage as the leading, autonomous protagonist. The machine makes the medium visible in different locations. We see recordings that take shape as abstract drawings. They present the wind as a creative force that expresses itself in an utterly playful   and diverting way. — Programme Partner Presentation

Thomas Schiefer (AT) LUFTTRITT In the beginning is the question – why do staircases have to be rigid, especially in the exploded spaces and daring building forms of contemporary architecture? The answer is formulated by the Viennese designer Thomas Schiefer with his project Lufttritt – Air Stair – a flexible free-standing stairway system based on the suspension-bridge principle. Air Stair is remarkable for its lightweight construction and a tangible oscillation when trodden upon – although here the calculations of FCP Fritsch, Chiari & Partner have assured that this remains within a pleasant and secure dimension. — Programme Partner Presentation stilwerk Wien 2., Praterstraße 1 28.9.–7.10., Mon–Fri 10:00–19:00, Sat 10:00–18:00 Cocktail: Tues 2.10., 18:00

Toledo i Dertschei (AT) PRINTING WORKS AT THE MARKET

Universität für angewandte Kunst WHY TEXTILES

On a town square in Mexico City dozens of typesetters can always be found offering their services. Small-scale printed works are imprinted on paper using hand presses and lead typesetting. Toledo i Dertschei are making their mark on Brunnenmarkt by setting type.  “Slow printing” is in season in the “market_place”; the feeling for letters as “characters”, as object; the aesthetics of errata; the sustainability of a printing machine without unnecessary waste; a good conscience about duplication. Multilingual orders taken! Supported by “Die Sellerie” and “REMAprint”. — City Work Work-in-Progress

“Textiles are very next things to our bodies,” says the trend expert Li Edelkoort, “but the knowledge about them is a   dying subject.” This is the issue dealt with by mikimartinek und Jutta Pregenzer in this round table. In July 2012, the Viennese   design group breadedEscalope  began an experiment investi-  gating the products, employees and brand of the long-  established company of Thonet. The cooperation does not work on the basis of a briefing but on the freedom of communicating an analysis of the form, material, tradition and processes involved in inventing a product. An initial view of the “work in progress” will be presented to the festival visitors in a documentation. They can also, within the framework of workshops, create or re-create their own “Thonet” out of discarded pieces from the Thonet factory. — markt_platz Programme Partner 16., Brunnenmarkt, Exhibition Stand 165–167 stilwerk Wien 28.9.–6.10., Mon–Fri 14:00– 2., Praterstraße 1 18:00, Sat 10:00–17:00 28.9.–7.10., daily 10:00–19:00 Cocktail: Sat 29.9. from 15:00 Workshop times: Sat 29.9., 27 Mon 1.10., Tue 2.10., 14:00–19:00 Cocktail: Tues 2.10., 18:00

Both designers substantiate the non-dogmatic attitude of Scandinavian furniture design which is less about designing complete interiors than about producing variably applicable and combinable individual pieces. Explanation

This year’s festival headquarters is in the   “Gschwandner” in our focal district of Hernals.  Here you can find more than just exhibitions;  there is our Pop-up Café, open daily and a VIENNA DESIGN WEEK info-point, where you can find out everything about the festival.

Another hot spot is the Laboratory, where product  and graphic designers produce process-oriented  work and display it throughout the entire festival.  Here, too, there is a VIENNA DESIGN WEEK   info-point.

In the stilwerk Design Tower visitors can likewise  view many exhibitions and presentations all in  one spot. Well worth the trip!

This symbol marks all events related to this year’s  focus on Spain.

This sign marks all events in our focal districts   of Ottakring and Hernals (Vienna districts No. 16  and 17)

1

The cocktail symbol marks presentations and openings during the festival. In case you miss   the “Cocktail” dates: most of the exhibitions and presentations can be viewed throughout   the festival!

These numbers show you where the venues are in  the city map on page 78. Citybike stations in Vienna. At http://vdw.cbw.at  you can locate all Citybike Vienna stations   and the daily programme and festival venues, optimised for your mobile phone.

We would like to say thank you! To all our partners, sponsors, supporters, colleagues and associates, friends and everyone in the background who helped to make everything possible – we thank you all for your generous support, patience and tireless personal investment, many of you as well for your loyalty from the very first days of the VDW. Without the positive cooperation of all the institutions, business enterprises and people involved, the realisation of the 2012 festival would never have been possible.
