HAVE A FUN-FILLED SUMMER
ummer is here! School is out and everywhere you go in Viera something new is transforming our skyline. Over the last several months we have experienced many first- time moments that included ground breakings, ribbon cuttings, and road openings. Thinking about this idea on a larger scale, we have also had hundreds of children and young adults start school or graduate for the first time. Local family-owned businesses have opened their first or second locations. Going one step further, we have had modern rockets launch at the Kennedy Space Center and then return their reusable boosters to a floating platform for the first time. In Viera, we have had many new families purchase a home for the first time. The excitement, uncertainty and joy of these moments is what makes them unique to each of us and keeps our community growing. I attended the 14th Annual Faculty Softball Challenge the last week of school. It was not my first time watching the games but it was the first time these games have been played at the newly updated Space Coast Stadium Complex hosted by USSSA. The field was softer than the previous clay and grass surface and the ball moved a lot faster. It provided an entirely new advantage for some players and disadvantage for others. Families enjoyed spending time together outside of school and watching their teachers, faculty members or principal suit up for the game and show school spirit in a whole new way. Handmade posters with glitter paint that read “Go Quest”, “Let’s go Panthers & Slugger #5”, or waving the Manatee white rally towel helped get the
teams energized on the field. Students ran around signing the back of each other’s t-shirt, waving foam fingers and pom-poms, and always hoping to catch a Chick-fil-A t-shirt or ball between innings. I want to give a special thanks in this issue to Todd Zgonc, a teacher at Manatee Elementary, and all the individuals who assist him to create this special night for so many families. For many it is their first time at these games. We also had a ‘first’ at the Viera Wetlands Nature Festival this year. It rained off and on the entire weekend but the Flight of the Raptor Exhibit I attended on day two left everyone speechless. A trained falconer brought a hawk and an owl under the tent and allowed the group to see these two birds up close and experience them eating and then vocalizing about a second helping with the falconer. The crowd toughed out the weather to collectively experience this moment for the first time and we were each glad we had the opportunity. The volunteers at the Wetlands also made an impact to the visitors who signed up for their tours. Their knowledge and love of this amenity is evident in the vast amount of details they share about the wildlife and the property that we can all enjoy, living so close to in this area of Brevard. It has been quite a Spring and I’m looking forward to all the new openings in Viera during the coming months. I hope you enjoy this issue and here’s to a fun-filled summer full of first-time moments for you and your family.

PAC Land Development Corporation (PAC), founded in 1985 by Thomas L. Cavanaugh, has built more than 7,300 multifamily homes throughout Florida and became a leader in luxury apartment and condominium homes. Centre Pointe is their newest development project. Regina Rossini is the Asset Manager for PAC and has worked for the company for twentytwo years. She truly enjoys the process of managing her portion of each project developed by PAC including on-site details such as sales, marketing and community amenities. “Each time PAC Land Development builds a community it is better than the last. We believe in listening to what our current residents (in other developments) are saying and design floorplans and amenities with their comments in mind. Centre Pointe will be our most progressive and high-tech community to date. The overall feel will be an upscale urban development where the residents are renters by choice,” said Rossini.

The answer to the question, “What are they building across the street?” cannot be answered with just the name, it must be followed with a key phrase by Ms. Rossini, “We build apartments and complexes to feel like homes and neighborhoods.”

To this 9-year-old, baseball is everything except gender-specific, and so, from Aug 22 through 31, when teams from 12 countries come to the USSSA Space Coast Complex to compete for the 2018 WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup, Gussie will be in the stands cheering on the USA and simply watching baseball for baseball’s sake. Jami Lobpries gets that. Like many elite fast-pitch softball players, she also played baseball; in her case, for a decade, like Gussie, with and against the boys. It came as no surprise then, that the vice president of marketing at USSSA made it a priority to bring attention to the Women’s Baseball World Cup coming to the United States for the first time. Forty-four games will be played here, with teams from Australia, Canada, Cuba, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Chinese Taipei, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and the United States. Attendance is expected to surpass the 2014 Women’s Baseball World Cup, the gold medal game of which, between the USA and Japan, drew 14,500 spectators.

MILLION ATHLETES

ARE AFFILIATED WITH WBSC
Each team is part of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) established in 2013 as the world governing body for the sports of baseball and softball. About 65 million athletes are affiliated with WBSC and more than 300,000 women and girls play organized baseball around the world, according to the organization, and World Cup baseball is perfect for Viera and its sparkling new softball-baseball complex, advocates believe. “Honestly, it’s been an ongoing project for more than five years,” says the Texas native. “D.J. Wabick (USSSA’s vice president of international programs)… formed a lot of relationships internationally with WBSC… from that (USSSA) officially became a member, and in August 2017, we were granted hosting rights for the Women’s Baseball World Cup.”
Wabick loves it. He is a baseball guy, a star at the College of Charleston who went on to play in the New York Mets’ organization, having been drafted in 2005. He knows Viera because he played here with the St. Lucie Mets before advancing to AA and AAA ball until persistent injuries caused him to retire. Wabick, another of those players who loves baseball, period, says the organization known as “U-Trip” has developed its partnership with the international baseball and softball organization since 2015, as well it should, being the world’s largest multi-sport governing body.
HOSTING ON AN INTERNATIONAL LEVEL
From the beginning, the idea was to bring the action here and so Wabick, whose offices are in Illinois, started with the people who run the confederation. “The WBSC leaders came to Viera in February (to finalize plans for the World Cup) and fell in love with the area,” he says. “To see the support it has gotten from

the Brevard County, The Viera Company, the Tourism Development Council, everyone, has been huge.” They liked the complex, he added, and loved that Florida in general, Viera in particular, are so convenient for international travelers. “They think the allure is very big, and find it refreshing to see the support it has gotten.” Thus, an agreement to host a tournament that will bring in athletes, families and spectators this summer, but it means a great deal to the future of the complex and ultimately, the future of Viera, Lobpries and Wabick think. The goal, they say, is for WBSC, based in Lausanne, Switzerland, to make its American headquarters here. “Our vision is to be the U.S. home of WBSC,” Lobpries says cheerfully. “The thing that (WBSC officials) really like is that it has received such great community support so far.” Wabick thinks along the same lines. “I went to the WBSC meetings in Paris (this spring) to speak about not only the World Cup, but the USSSA complex and the Space Coast,” he says. “People now know what it is, and so we’re hoping this becomes the first of many opportunities. If we do a good job with this event, we will have continued opportunities.” “The payoffs could be considerable,” Lobpries and Wabick add. Participation on every level “I think it’s important because of the doors it opens for international business here,” said Lobpries, formerly an
12
assistant professor of sports management at the University of Tampa who holds a Ph.D from Texas A&M, where she was a standout softball player. “It’s important for them to see the Space Coast, to see everything we have. It is great for business tourism and can help put Viera and the Space Coast on the map in that regard.” “Its meaning to females who play could be immense,” she adds. “Bringing something like the Women’s Baseball World Cup here, we will have a platform for girls to participate at every level. Girls can be recruited out of our tournaments (by teams that play at higher levels); kids can be recruited out of our tournaments. They will be noticed. And we’re also showcasing to boys that girls can play too,” she says with no small amount of excitement. But in the end it simply will be great fun for people who just plain love baseball, boys, girls, men or women. Robin Varnes Braswell, a respected appraiser of antiques and valuables in Satellite Beach, is a former baseball and softball player who bought tickets as soon as the tournament was announced, she says. “We love going to the fast pitch softball games (and) now there’s going to be baseball! Wow!” said her friend Nancy Rehwoldt. And there are kids like Gussie Campbell, an advocate for females in the National Pastime to such a degree that she has written letters of support to girls who play with boys at higher levels and scorns those who underestimate her good eye, strong arm and great glove. “This is so exciting,” she says. “This is baseball. I can’t wait.”
“PRIDE”
IS RIGHT.
V
IERA’S WOMEN’S NATIONAL PRO FAST PITCH SOFTBALL TEAM ROLLS – OR IS THAT “STEAMROLLS?” — ALONG, HAVING STARTED THE CURRENT SEASON WITH AN OVERALL RECORD OF 320-145, A SIXTH REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP, A THIRD NPF PLAYER OF THE YEAR AND A SECOND OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR BREVARDIAN KELLY KRETSCHMAN, AND ON IT GOES, A JUGGERNAUT OF THE GAME.
It is the All-American team with the All-American holiday: Viera’s Great American Celebration now takes place each Independence Day, or thereabouts – this year it will be July 4 itself – with huge fireworks displays after the game. But the Pride also, in the words of Jami Lobpries, vice president of marketing at USSSA, “showcases talent and skills at the highest levels” on the international as well as national level. The Pride plays the likes of the Beijing Eagles and Aussie Spirit during the course of its regular season, which started May 30 with the Australian team and will conclude Aug. 12 against the Chicago Bandits. Beijing joined the league last year and Aussie, in 2018. The Eagles, players which include members of China’s national team THIRD NPF PLAYER OF THE YEAR AND A SECOND OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR BREVARDIAN KELLY KRETSCHMAN
as well as American women, are a traveling team with no fixed home stadium, and so they are frequent visitors to the USSSA Space Coast Stadium Complex. They will have played seven games here and five times will have hosted the Pride at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach. As Lobpries points out, the Australian softball federation’s Aussie Spirit, which plays at venues in the Midwest, may be new to the league, but Australians are not. The Pride’s rival, Chicago Bandits, had eight players from Down Under on its roster in 2017. “Like baseball, softball is very much a world sport,” she says. “This summer we will have the Women’s Baseball World Cup and USSSA Pride. That’s international. Viera is on the world stage.”

VIERA ATHLETES VIERA ATHLETES MOVING UP AND MOVING ON A wrap-up of Viera High School and Viera Charter School 2017-2018 year.
A
S THE LAST ACADEMIC YEAR ENDED, CHRIS GALLAGHER SOUNDED MORE THAN CONTENT: 2017-2018 WAS A GOOD ONE FOR VIERA ATHLETES IN GENERAL AND VIERA HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES IN PARTICULAR, DESPITE THE LOSS OF ITS WELL-REGARDED FOOTBALL COACH AND SOME OF THE BETTER ATHLETES IN ITS HISTORY, TO GRADUATION.

“We had a fantastic year overall, with individual and team championships,” Chris Gallagher, VHS’s athletic director said. “Viera has a lot to be proud of.” Its new football coach, Derek Smith, the successor to Kevin Mays, is not unfamiliar to the Hawks, having been their defensive coordinator, and that much is expected to remain as it was probably best told in the relationship of Smith to his former boss. They are lifelong friends who coached together for years, and when Smith was head coach at Bayside High School in Palm Bay, he hired Mays as his offensive coordinator. Kevin Mays is now the athletic director of the new Tohopokeliga High School in Osceola County. “Continuity,” Gallagher called it, and it is something to prize, considering that in the last seven seasons, Viera piled up a 50-27 record and was a Florida High School Athletic Association Class 7A state finalist in 2015. But football is not the only team sport at which Viera consistently excels. You can see the entire list on pages 16-17
that include region, district, and state levels with first team selections in various sports. Viera athletes excelled individually too, led by three-time Class 3A state diving champion Sarah Rousseau, one of the finest young divers in the country, the winner of the 16 to 18 age group in the one-meter event at last year’s USA Diving National Preliminary Zone D Championships in Brown Deer, Wisconsin. She later finished 12th last August in the 2017 USA Diving National Championships, not shabby for a diver her age. And then there is “Brookie,” recent graduate Brooke Walsh, who was named 2017-2018 Florida Dairy Farmers Class 4A Girls Soccer Player of the Year.
Small wonder, as Walsh scored 30 goals and 25 assists for the Hawks in the season past. She will join her sister Jordan, also a former Viera star, at Lipscomb University in Tennessee, this fall. “Seventeen of our studentathletes received scholarships, including Calvin Sierota (golf) to Florida State University; Sydney Lau (soccer goalkeeper) to Louisiana State University and Sarah Rousseau (diving) to the University of Missouri. And Brandon Mays (football) received an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. We’re proud of them,” said Gallagher. Finally, there is Trey Schaneville: Viera’s all-time leading scorer in football and basketball, track and field athlete, possessor of a stratospheric grade point average, a volunteer with challenged athletes and counselor at youth camps. He will attend Florida Institute of Technology,
BROOKE WALSH

having received the Distinguished Panther Academic Award. Schaneville is one of only 12 young men to have been named to the FHSAA Academic AllState Team. “He is such a good (guy) and that makes us so proud,” Gallagher said. “That is an incredible achievement.” However, Viera High School does not play the only game in town. Sixty percent of the 1,100 students at Viera Charter School, who participate in some form of athletics, as well as the school, competes as an elementary-middle school in the 12-institution Space Coast Christian Athletic Association. It sent their entire boys’ cross-country team to the state championships last year in only the school teams’ second year of existence, VCS assistant principal and athletic director Tom Armstrong said. The league champion in girls’ and boys’ basketball should receive more good news soon: “Within the next year and a half, we will be getting a new gym,” Armstrong added. The list of each schools’ bragging right are on the next two pages and they work extremely hard to achieve each placement and award they have earned. Congratulations to all the students and their coaches for a job well done.

THE BUSINESS OF BREVARD IS
SPACE M
OST OF THE REST OF THE WORLD SEES SPACE AND SPACE TRAVEL ONLY THROUGH THE LENS OF SCIENCE AND SCIENCE FICTION. BUT HERE ON THE SPACE COAST, THE IDEA AND OPPORTUNITY OF SPACE IS AN INDUSTRY, AN EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY, AND AN ECONOMIC DRIVER.
18
With the commercial side of space gaining momentum and visibility here through the power of entrepreneurial names like SpaceX, Blue Origin, and EarthNow, the market for high-tech talent to staff all of these endeavors (and more like them) is growing well beyond anything anyone envisioned during the original space race. When Elon Musk launched his personal Tesla into space and simultaneously landed two booster rockets on The Cape, it captured the imagination of the world in a way it hadn’t been since we landed people on the moon. For Viera and the traditional space hub of Brevard County, that means more industry, more manufacturing, especially high-tech manufacturing and more supply chain businesses to support those visionary companies. Last year, Bank of America Merrill Lynch published a forecast growth of the space industry from $350 billion today to approaching $3 trillion over the next three decades. And with Cape Canaveral and the state of Florida at the center of it all, Viera is prominently positioned to reap the rewards of an industry in full disruption. When Space Florida’s Chief of Strategic Alliances, Dale Ketcham, returned from the 34th annual Space Symposium held at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs this past April, he was struck by the state of Florida’s position in an industry unique in America. “It was clear that there is no one bigger or more organized in terms of any state than Florida is for space,” Ketcham said.
GROWTH IN SPACE JOBS Blue Origin’s 750,000-square-foot Glenn Rocket plant is expected to open this year, bringing no fewer than 300 new jobs to the area. EarthNow, a company backed by former Microsoft head Bill Gates, is planning to start manufacturing a constellation of at least 900 camera satellites at the new AirBus OneWeb facility on Merritt Island. The capability of mass-producing small satellites capable of carrying remote sensors into low-earth orbit opens the door to what may be a vast opportunity for high-tech manufacturing in our region. As that capability grows, other businesses that supply products and services to these manufacturers attract more jobs to the area.
THE CAPE Anyone following developments here over the past year or two has noticed what the experts describe as “increased cadence” of launches from the Cape Canaveral Spaceport. Not just NASA and Department of Defense launches, but private industry as well. This is not just about trucking more material up to the International Space Station (ISS) or launching more satellites. Both SpaceX and Boeing are on target to bring manned launches back to Florida as early as next year. “The schedule shows both having non-crew test launches in the late summer of this year,” Ketcham said. “We’re probably not much more than a year away from launching crews here from the Cape.” Since the end of the Space Shuttle program in 2011, American astronauts have had to depend on Russian launches to reach the ISS. With so much activity on The Cape, the only true spaceport in America, there is a need for substantial infrastructure work that will undoubtedly drive more construction, building, and Florida Department of Transportation work in the area. “Just like an airport or seaport, making sure the transportation network is well integrated is in the interest of the Department of Transportation,” Ketcham said. A big part of the equation is better transportation infrastructure equals a better economy and quality of life. Virgin Galactic’s (and Virgin Orbit’s) Richard Branson has famously been working on an effort at what’s become known as Space Tourism and according to Ketcham, the Virgin companies have long been in communication with Space Florida. While there have been no official announcements to date, new developments are expected before too long.
GIANT FOOTPRINTS And not to be outdone, many of the aerospace giants with more established footprints on the Space Coast are announcing jobs, projects and expansions on a regular basis. Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin are both expected to add literally hundreds of jobs over the next several years. All of these developments bring a different skill-set to increase the industrial capability of the state. And there are more projects coming, Ketcham says. While there are no official announcements yet, a number of positive developments are expected to be forthcoming through the end of the year.
ONGOING EVOLUTION CareerSource Florida reported recently that there will be an expected need to fill up to about 3,000 high-tech jobs on the Space Coast over the next five years as those workers retire and those positions need to be filled. Factor all of these developments together and it becomes obvious that there is a steady economic boom in the works for the area surrounding us. Every high-tech job is routinely said to generate between 2 and 4 other jobs in the economy. More jobs make for more people. More people make for more new construction and more need for infrastructure, more need for all the other things our communities need, buy and consume. When the hightech sector booms, the local economy follows. Consider all of these positive jobs forecast and there’s no way around the fact that space is the industry set to transform Viera, Brevard and the state of Florida.

A PLAN IN MOTION CONTINUED UPGRADES TO THE AVENUE VIERA
F
OR YEARS, CATHLEEN GRACE LIVED CLOSE TO THE AVENUE VIERA, WHERE SHE WALKED HER DOGS EVERY NIGHT, WENT TO SPECIAL EVENTS, DINED AT RESTAURANTS AND GOT TO KNOW THE MERCHANTS IN THE VARIOUS STORES. ALTHOUGH SHE HAS MOVED ELSEWHERE IN THE VIERA AREA, SHE STILL RETURNS TO THE CENTER FREQUENTLY, SO IT WAS NOT SURPRISING WHEN CHANGES TO ITS PARKING LOTS AND LANDSCAPING CAUGHT HER EYE.
26
WHEN IT ALL IS COMPLETE, THE AVENUE VIERA WILL LOOK COMPLETELY NEW.
“I like it,” she said. “I like that they got rid of some of the plants so you can get to the car a little easier. And I like the pavers near the entrance. It makes everything look much nicer.” So they did, “they” being managers of the 600,000-square-foot lifestyle center, and the changes (most of them fairly subtle) will continue through the summer, including a second phase in which a splash area will be installed at the front of the AMC Avenue 16 cinema (Carmike). Central Park will get a makeover too. “In our first phase, we worked on making it easier for people to get from their cars to the stores and restaurants they want to visit,” The Avenue Viera Marketing Coordinator, Michelle Bujold said. “Our teams cut back some of the landscaping and brought down some of the overgrown seeding around the circle and sidewalks. Our goal was to make the area a little neater and more open.”
The next phase will include installation of a POP Jet fountain, a “play deck” in which, “a perfectly shaped ball of water rises in the air out of nowhere and grabs everyone’s attention,” according to POP Jet’s manufacturer, Fontana Fountains. “The nozzle is not visible as it is submerged below the water level, making it a truly magical water feature. A powerful LED luminaire makes sure that the water ball is absolutely visible at night, illuminated with 16.7 million colors. The vivid illumination makes this water effect astonishing during nighttime. The POP jets are animated in various sequences with absolutely timed triggers to perform exceptionally, even under relatively windy conditions,” the company says. “We’re excited to have an area where kids can splash around and play, and shoppers can just sit back and relax,” Bujold said. Central Park will be made more event-friendly too, with raised

seating areas, and a pergola to shade one entrance. “Our Central Park redevelopment is another exciting project. Our aim is to open the area up a little more to give
shoppers and events a little more room,” she said. She added that the complex is in its third year of repaving its parking lots, and that has included the addition of
decorative pavers. That project is expected to be completed next year. And, painted with a “palette of different colors that will align better with the original scheme devised by its architects,” said Bujold. That will not include anything radical, however, “just multiple, soft pastels.” Those whose businesses will be painted in the new colors may include some newcomers, contracts with whom are expected to be announced in coming months. “By the end of the summer, we should look refreshed, with the same family-friendly, modern feel that we’ve always had,” Bujold said. “Everything is always changing here, as it should.” Grace is delighted. “The Avenue has always looked good. I can’t wait to see how they make it better.”

I
N PART TWO OF OUR SERIES ON GROWING A HOMETOWN
FROM SCRATCH, WE FOCUS ON TRIZIA EAVENSON, ESQ. AND HER SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS WITH A MENTORING PROGRAM THAT BENEFITS THE COMMUNITY AS BOTH HAVE GROWN TOGETHER.
28
“I love doing this,” Trizia Eavenson said, describing her philosophy of doing well by doing good. “It makes my heart sing.” Eavenson is a resident and advocate of Viera with a wellestablished presence in the Brevard County legal community, representing both Health First and the Brevard County School District. If you spend any time in the school district offices or the courthouse in the government district along Judge Fran Jamieson Way, you’ll undoubtedly cross paths with her energetic, sunny presence. She was a partner in the largest minority-owned firm in Brevard until about a year ago when she opened her doors as a solo practitioner under the “Eavenson Law, LLC” banner. “It’s been a really great year,” she says. “I really couldn’t ask for more.” But beyond the legal reputation and entrepreneurial spirit driving her law business, Trizia Eavenson is also a generous mentor to the young people of Viera and throughout Brevard County through her “Be the Diamond” program. It’s a program that’s taken root in the Viera school system where she’s made numerous presentations at Viera High School, Viera Children’s Academy, and taken part in Manatee Elementary School’s Superhero Week program where the students learn, discuss and imagine what kind of real life superheroes they might be one day. Eavenson’s program has an undeniable message of positivity and potential. She begins with a studentcentered segment on justice where, from her background in the law, she teaches the basics of the constitution and their rights. “I absolutely love justice-focused teaching,” she says. “It flows into your rights as a citizen and rights as a person and how you demand to be treated.” For example, she had the kindergarteners imagine they landed on “Planet Lawless” and pressed them on how they’d act in a place with no laws. “For the record, the kids had a very clear understanding of right, wrong, ownership, and not taking what belonged to someone else,” she said.
In a school-wide assembly, she had all the students close their eyes and asked them, “What motivates you?” “So often, we have no problem thinking about what our ‘no’ is. What we won’t do or what we don’t want to do,” she explains. “But we have to work to identify what our ‘yes’ is. What we want to do. What is our passion and what drives us.” She asked the students, when they knew what their ‘yes’ was, to start stomping on the floor and slapping the tables in front of them. As more and more students gained a belief in their ‘yes’ the sound grew into a roar. She then asked individual students to open their eyes and say what they
were thinking about. Upon hearing their answers relating to art, music, math, and history, she instructed them, “Great - find a way to make that a permanent part of your life.” “We all experience pressure and [what I refer to as the] heat of expectation in our lives,” she says. “From there, we have a choice. The pressure can turn us to dust or diamonds. I tell them ‘Be The Diamond!’” Being Trizia Eavenson, Esq. would exhaust most people under most circumstances. For a lesser person, just a glance at her daily calendar might be an exercise in multiple personalities—entrepreneur, soughtafter legal mind, mentor, wife, and mom. But if you ask her how she feels on any given day, she says simply, she’s living in paradise. “I love my work,” she says from her upper-floor office looking out toward the Indian River. “Every day really is paradise to me.” And Eavenson knows the pressure to grow and succeed. It’s been a long
journey to get to this place in time for her. Born in the Bronx, NY, her family moved to Tampa when she was a child, then spent her formative years living in Italy. When she returned to America as a self-described awkward 13-year-old, she says, she experienced bullying, sometimes severe. During college, she had to leave school and work three jobs to help support her family. She worked her way up from a temporary legal assistant to a paralegal, eventually opening her own firm last year. It was when she met and married her husband Erik, also a successful Brevard County entrepreneur, about a decade ago that the couple settled down in Viera to start their family. Their son, Enrico, is a kindergarten student at Manatee Elementary School, where, no surprise, Eavenson is an active parent volunteer. “I didn’t know Viera and Melbourne existed until I met Erik. But I saw a lot of potential here,” she says. “Viera really is a great environment for business.”

FTER MANY LONG HOURS AND DAYS WRITING, FILMING AND FACT CHECKING, THE MARKETING DEPARTMENT FOR THE VIERA COMPANY IS EXCITED TO INTRODUCE THE NEW WEBSITE DESIGN FOR VIERA. COM AND A BRAND NEW SITE VIERACOMMERCIALPROPERTIES.COM. IN BOTH DESIGNS THEY SHOWCASE A MAIN VIDEO ELEMENT TO HIGHLIGHT THE COMMUNITY’S BEST ATTRIBUTES AND TELL THE COMMUNITY STORY IN A NEW AND UNIQUE WAY.
“Our next website design had to build an emotional connection with our residents and provide a cohesive story with a personal experience,” said Lauri Duda, Vice President of Marketing at The Viera Company. “We wanted to also make it easier to use on a mobile device and provide new users a way to find valuable information on local amenities, builders and businesses in the area.” With these ideas in mind the group worked with a local firm to research the newest designs, sought opinions from members of various departments at The Viera Company, and used analytical data on key elements from the previous website design.

VIERA.COM
ENHANCED DETAILS AND OPPORTUNITES
Viera Commercial Properties has both the investment insights and property options to share and showcase in Viera, Florida but did not have a platform to allow others to visualize and research their options. A website was needed with a VIERACOMMERCIAL PROPERTIES.COM design that allowed users to view the most up-to-date information for investors to see all their opportunities and became the cornerstone to the design. “Building an online presence for our commercial opportunities here in Viera provides a key link to brokers, developers, and local business owners,” said Nick Abbott, Development Capital Planning and Financial Analyst for The Viera Company. “Our new website gives us the ability to showcase the available land options in greater, more enhanced detail and helps our team continue to develop according to our long term goals as a top master planned community.” The final goal in building any new website is to allow visitors to have an experience which embodies the brand and reflects the company’s vision. It does not hurt to have an enjoyable time too so using the best visuals and creating content that engages the visitor should also play its part and still be a valuable resource of information. Visit, view, click, scroll and contact both today. WEBSITE DESIGN: BRANDT RONAT AND COMPANY

N VIERA, RAY AND FABLIA RODRIGUEZ ARE KNOWN IN THE COMMUNITY AS “GOLF PHILANTHROPISTS”. THE COUPLE FIT THE DESCRIPTION TO A TEE. OFFERING GENEROUS FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO DURAN AND OTHER BREVARD GOLF CLUBS FOR CHARITY TOURNAMENTS AND SUPPORT OF THE SPORT IS WORK THEY HAVE BECOME PASSIONATE ABOUT.
“The Rodriguez’s support of our inaugural women’s Space Coast Amateur Championship helped to create an exceptional event,” said Matt Morrison, Head Golf Professional, Duran Golf Club. “Our goal is to grow the game for both women and youth here at Duran. We are so appreciative of generous donations like those of the Rodriguez’s. Ray’s help has been instrumental in enabling us to generate thousands of dollars for charities here during the past few years.” Transplants from New Jersey in 2007, the Rodriguez’s, proprietors of twelve McDonald’s restaurant establishments throughout Brevard, recently purchased a home on the 17th hole on Duran’s Championship course. Ray, 71, who confessed he got a late start learning the game (he was in his mid-50s) now plays in several leagues and enjoys networking with other players, even helping them with their games. Though Fablia prefers the gym, she admits she loves to be a caddy for her husband and confesses she gets involved both on and off the course when it comes to his play and their business ventures.
“Viera is a place we feel safe, it’s close to our business, quiet, and the people here are pleasant. It’s a great golf community that is growing and most of all has a wonderful school system for our grandchildren. – Ray Rodriguez

“Golf is a game where you must think; it’s challenging and provides great physical and mental therapy. It is a way to network with others and be in the know about community events and charities,” Ray professed. Raised in what he described as a poor neighborhood, Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen, Ray’s vision to be financially independent came at an early age. After proving his worth as a minor league baseball player, he went on to become a police lieutenant, a career that led him to be able to protect others and provide a service to his community. When the opportunity arose to acquire his first business on the side, a clothing manufacturing company, he and Fablia ran full speed ahead with it. After 41 years of marriage and business partnership it’s evident that the two are a wonderful example of a success story and community leadership team. Whether it’s supporting the game of golf, or spending family time with their three children and eight grandchildren, the Rodriguez’s are focused on giving back. “Viera is a place we feel safe, it’s close to our business, quiet, and the people here are pleasant. It’s a great golf community that is growing and most of all has a wonderful school system for our grandchildren. It’s ideal for us; we could not ask for a better place to live,” said Ray.
30 SECONDS TO WIN THE ROUND!

IM AND STEVE CUNNINGHAM ARE GOING THE DISTANCE AS A NEW UPSTART CALLED 9ROUND IN VIERA. THEY HAVE INVESTED THEIR LIVES AND THEIR BODIES TO A 9 ROUND/30 MINUTE FULL-BODY KICK BOXING WORKOUT THAT INVOLVES INTERVAL, CARDIOVASCULAR, AND CIRCUIT TRAINING REGIMENS WITH EACH ROUND LASTING 3 MINUTES.
Between rounds you are also working on different combinations as to not be considered faded. The program is short and easily achievable because everyone is a journeyman and you can easily gain your personal dose of daily fitness using the jab, spar, or the peek-a-boo in each session. “We can modify your level of fitness to the system. You use your own body resistance to help provide a balanced workout.” said Kim. The couple is excited about being in Viera and have already provided workout sessions with a group from Northrop Grumman. “You are never without a trainer. We provide an anaerobic exercise experience that allows you to use several strength-based activities,” said Steve. “Workouts change daily so we learn the routine and teach it to you.” At the Viera location they have the latest in PULSE Heart Rate Technology and just by wearing the pulse monitor your heart rate is measured and your results for the day are sent via email. Gloves are included with your membership and a new circuit starts every three minutes so you can arrive anytime during gym hours. The undercards always lead to looking great, relieving stress, and feeling refreshed. That is really going toe-to-toe with your daily personal fitness routine!

Did You Know? FOR EVERY HOME BUILT IN VIERA THERE HAS BEEN AT LEAST ONE JOB CREATED.

s a company, there are a great many things we are proud of about Viera, Florida. We are immensely proud of our humble farmland beginnings, of the Duda family’s vision for a thriving community, and for the years of hard work and dedication that have been focused into realizing this vision. However, there is one little-known Viera fact that fills us with pride and that is for every home built in Viera there has been at least one job created. With robust home sales and new neighborhoods opening throughout Viera, it is hard to believe that there have been an equivalent amount of new jobs created within our community but it is true. New development means new jobs and a lot of new development means a lot of new jobs. At last count, there were just over 10,000 residential units within Viera and over 350 businesses representing more than 10,000 employees. It is undeniable that the housing market, as well as commercial and economic development opportunities, continue to grow in Viera. This has led to Viera being ranked as a top 25 master planned community in the United States by the John Burns Real Estate Consulting Group and RCLCO Real Estate Advisors. During October 2017, the Brevard County Board of Commissioners approved The Viera Company’s application for the next phase of development of Viera. With these approvals granted, Viera can move forward with the construction of new communities, roadways and infrastructure expansion, tourism support, and commercial space. The Viera Company obtained the ability to proceed with additional development rights for hotels, office, retail, and industrial space which could also be used to entice new
manufacturing and fabrication companies and jobs to our community. Brevard County continues to attract and retain impressive companies such as Northrop Grumman, Harris, Blue Origin, SpaceX, Embraer and more to the area with our idyllic business climate. With the next phase of Viera underway, The Viera Company is prepared to facilitate site opportunities for these and other companies to expand or make their new home here. Viera is well positioned with a location in the center of Brevard County and within the Florida high-tech corridor. The new diverging diamond interchange at Viera Boulevard and I-95 will make it easier to access our community and will lessen congestion at our other interchanges. The addition of USSSA has spurred enhanced tourism activity in our community and has renewed Viera as the venue for hospitality, entertainment, and recreation. Viera is approximately halfway developed which means the investor opportunities available are abundant and range from site-ready parcels for lease or purchase to mega-parcels of land for joint ventures or large corporations to plant a flag. Viera’s prime location and dedication to positioning its property according to the long-term vision of its master plan unveiled by the Duda family in 1989 make it the ultimate place to start and grow your business. With close proximity to local and major attractions, beaches, NASA and the Kennedy Space Center, the Orlando Melbourne International Airport and Orlando International Airport, Port Canaveral, and a plethora of higher-education opportunities, Viera is well-situated for a business of any size to thrive.
