Why do some people collect things and some not? Mostly collectors collect things in privat surroundings. they use cartonages to store their things & special rooms. Some of the visited collections were only shown on special events to very special people. For new objects this collectors hunt the street, fleemarkets and the internet. My ambition is to give some views in these normally closed and private rooms. The portraits & interviews of 9 collectors give an invitation to these private worlds. I chose this diploma-thesis because of my personal interests in collecting things. My book archive with pieces from architecture, design, graphic & photography grows and grows every month. Especially the way books smell when they are new is very tasty for me. I think every collector has special preferences in the way they search for things.
